How to install windows 10 on nokia lumia. How to install Windows using an Android smartphone. Installation instructions

Many users Windows Phone are familiar with how Microsoft, to put it mildly, threw the owners of old devices running under Windows control Phone 8.1. First, she struck their devices off the list of supported devices before sending out the first release update to Windows 10 Mobile, leaving only access to preliminary assemblies, and then closed it too. As a result, users who, for whatever reason, rolled back their OS to Windows Phone 8.1, cannot download Windows 10 Mobile. Only the more advanced are still trying to resist, making Interop Unlock and disguising their devices for those models for which "ten" is available and that's it actual updates for her. But this, as it turned out, is not the only one existing option... There is another method that does not require Interop Unlock and is suitable even for devices that do not have a memory card slot. If you have puzzled over how to install Windows 10 Mobile on an unsupported Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone, we recommend that you read this manual.

This method was tested on a Nokia Lumia 520 with Windows Phone 8.1 (8.10.14219.341) on board. We do not guarantee that it will help absolutely all users, since we do not have the necessary fleet of devices to fully test it. However, it is known that it is unlikely to work in the case of the HTC 8s and Nokia Lumia 530.

What you need:

1. Computer with Windows 7 / 8.1 / 10.
2. USB cable.
3. An account with administrator rights.

Instructions

1. Download the archive with the program for manual installation.
2. Download the archive with Windows 10 Mobile cab files. In this case, assembly files 10.0.10586.107 are provided.
3. On your computer, open the "C" drive and create an "App" folder in it (without the quotes).
4. Open the created folder, then the archive with the program and extract the contents of the latter into the "App" folder.
5. Go to the "Updates" folder in "App", open the archive with cab-files and extract them into this directory.
6. Return to the root of the "App" folder, find the "start.exe" file and run it as administrator (Right click on the file> "Run as administrator"> "Yes").
7. In the program window, click on the "Settings" button. Make sure that the path to the "Update" folder where the Windows 10 Mobile cab files are stored is correctly specified in the window that appears.
8. Close the "Settings" window you opened.
9. Connect your smartphone to the computer via a USB cable and unlock the screen of the mobile device.
10. In the main window of the program, click on the "Information about the phone" button. If the system has all required drivers for a smartphone, a small information about it should appear in the window: name, manufacturer, model.
11. Click on the "Update phone" button.
12. Click once on the path to cab files for Windows 10 Mobile, and then on the "Ok" button.
13. The program will start downloading cab files to your smartphone. Make sure that the screen of your smartphone is unlocked during the download and pre-installation of the update.
14. Wait while the update download and installation process is complete. The progress bar may freeze several times at long time, but it normal. If during the migration process progress is stuck at 19 points and 63%, you can remove the battery, insert it back and turn on the computer, or restart the smartphone with physical buttons. To do this, you will need to hold down and hold the volume down button and the power button for 10-12 seconds.

If you want to install the "Anniversary Update" ( Anniversary Update, Build 14393), which, incidentally, works much better than the November update, you will need to do and for which this update is available.

The XDA Developers forum recently has a tool for Windows installations 10 for unsupported Windows devices Phone.

Instructions from RustyGrom:

Step 2. The registration process takes only a few minutes. Use your standard account to register as a developer tester Windows Live ID to sign in to the Microsoft site. I am using my default account for this example.

You will see the start page of registration, on which, by and large, you practically do not need to do anything, just scroll down and agree with the rules that you supposedly just read!

It is also necessary to mark the checkboxes: what exactly will you develop applications for, whether you are a private person or is it a huge company and other little things that do not even have to be noted, but I will do it.

Then you need to click the only button "Submit" on the page, after which you will immediately see a welcome window with congratulations, which means that you have just registered as a developer-tester.

Step 3. Now that you have signed up for the tester, download the Windows Insider app from Windows Store Phone Store. Installing Windows 10 on Android

Before a full reinstallation of the operating system, it is strongly recommended to determine the tasks that the updated device should perform:

In case you still need to have a full-fledged "top ten" on board, before installing a new OS, make sure that your device has enough space for a new heavy system. Pay attention to the characteristics of the processor of the device. Installing Windows is only feasible on ARM architecture processors (does not support Windows 7) and i386 (supports Windows 7 and above).

Now let's go directly to the installation:

  1. Download the sdl.zip archive and special program sdlapp in .apk format.
  2. Install the application on your smartphone, and extract the archive data to the SDL folder.
  3. Copy the same directory to the system image file (usually c.img).
  4. Run the installation utility and wait for the process to complete.

Video: how to install Windows on Android

If your smartphone receives official updates, there will be no problems installing the new version of the OS. Users of earlier Lumia models will also be able to update their smartphone without too much trouble. Much more deplorable things are for Android users, because their smartphone is simply not designed to install Windows, which means that if a new OS is forcibly installed, the owner of the phone runs the risk of getting a fashionable, but very useless "brick".
