IPhone 6s without fingerprint. What does an iPhone without a touch id mean. iPhone with a broken scanner - what it is and where it comes from

In all current iPhone models, you can find such a function as Touch ID. Many do not use it and do not even know what it is at all.

Therefore, today I will tell you why you need to use Touch ID on your iPhone and what it gives in general. The article will be very short, but interesting.

Touch ID on iPhone

I would like to start the history of this function with the fact that it appeared back in 2013 along with the legendary iPhone 5S. Then the letter S stood for "Security", which was implemented using touch ID.

How many memes then went that now iPhones will steal with your fingers. However, many years later, everyone adores him.

Touch ID Is a fingerprint scanner in Apple devices that is built right into the Home button. With it, most often you can unlock your smartphone or make purchases.

In the first models, the technology was damp and broke quite often. And the big minus is that it is not so easy to change it, because the button is tied to the device's processor.

Of the global advantages of using, you can name the following advantages:

  • the security of your data after losing your device;
  • quick unlocking of the device;
  • it is convenient to shop at any store.

Today we have this technology in version 2.0 and many cannot even imagine their life without it. After all, it is so convenient and quick to unlock your gadget.

How to set up Touch ID on iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, 6 PLUS, 6S PLUS, SE, 7, 7 PLUS?

Many people think that setting up Touch ID on an iPhone or iPad is super difficult. But you should not be afraid of this, and now we will consider the whole process as a whole.

To begin with, even if you have an old iPhone 5S, it also makes sense to do this procedure on it. Therefore, let's get started:

  1. go to SettingsTouch ID and Passcode;
  2. see Add fingerprint and bring the desired finger to the Home button;
  3. when the scan is completed, then we do the same procedure, only with the edges.

Now the fingerprint has been added and you can add as many fingers as you like. More often than not, three is enough. After all, you can cut yourself and so on, but do not forget that there is a password.

In the same menu of this function, you can choose what exactly you want to use this functionality for. There are actually only two options:

  • Unlock iPhone;
  • iTunes Store and App Store.

This is purely your preference. If the first item should be on by default, then the second one is really needed. The second point can be useful for paid games in order not to enter a password.

conclusions

As you can see, the Touch ID feature is not that scary. Now you know what it is for in your device and what it is.

As for the settings, everything is also simple. Apple usually tries to keep the process as simple as possible, so you can always find a bunch of tips on exactly what to do and in what order.

Refurbished iPhone 6: how it differs from used and how not to get a fake.

Cheap iPhone 6 without Touch ID - what is it ?!

Review sponsors - iPhone without Touch ID that it is worth it to take an iPhone without Touch Aidi - what is it all the same?

Not so long ago, the refurbished (refurbished), also known as Certified Pre-Owned(CPO), iPhone 6. We decided to figure out how these phones differ from the new iPhones, how not to fall for a fake, and in general it is worth considering them for purchase.

How is the iPhone 6 CPO different from the new one?

The Certified Pre-Owned program was launched by Apple as part of a green initiative in which the company tries to reuse as many components from its own technology as possible. In the main, old or broken iPhones are recycled, not so long ago Apple showed its own Liam bot, which disassembles phones. However, not all iPhones that end up with Apple require complete disposal. From time to time, a prerequisite for replacing the device with a new one is a small flaw that can be removed at the factory. Specifically for this, there is a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program.

If in the iPhone 6 one of the components turns out to be defective, or the device itself is not damaged enough to be disposed of, then it is sent to the Apple factory and reassembled. There, the iPhone 6 is tested, the breakdown is determined, the broken component is changed, the cleaning is carried out, and a full testing cycle is also carried out. To put it more simply, the phone is rebuilt again, with all this, the battery will be changed. The iPhone 6 is then assigned a new serial number and packed in the latest packaging with new headphones, Lightning cable and charger. In fact, an actually new phone comes out with an official 1 year warranty, but the main part of the components in it remains from the model that was already in use, therefore such devices receive the CPO prefix in the title and are sold cheaper than new ones.

How to tell an iPhone 6 CPO from a fake?

Apart from the official Certified Pre-Owned program, stores can also restore iPhones, this is completely common practice. Nevertheless, not all of them honestly report to customers that they are selling used phones or that they themselves were engaged in restoration. Let's see how to distinguish a unique iPhone 6 CPO from a fake one. To do this, we'll take a look at both the official and fake refurbished iPhone 6s.

The unique iPhone 6 CPO comes in a box that differs from the standard packaging of the iPhone 6. Instead of the convex silhouette of the phone, it simply has the inscription iPhone 6, and below it says: Apple Certified Pre-Owned. Apart from this, the iPhone 6 CPO is packed at the factory, because the film fits snugly to the box and in the main has a smooth seam.

2. Look at the device number.

iPhone 6 CPOs sold in Ukraine have the following numbers: FG492SU / A, FG482SU / A and FG472SU / A. The letter F first of the rooms means - refurbished (restored).

3. Check the phone status.

If possible, check serial number on Apple's website, there will be information about its warranty and technical support:

For a used iPhone 6, the warranty will likely no longer be:

If everything is fine with the packaging, do not rush to give the funds to the merchant, but offer to open the box to check the phone.

1. Take a look at how the film is glued to the body of the iPhone 6, it should not lag behind.

2. There should be no obvious damage or scratches on the phone case. After all, we remember that it is tested at the factory. This applies to the monitor. We got a fake refurbished iPhone 6, in which a non-unique screen is installed, it protrudes more from the body.

With all this, after turning on the phone, the screen showed a strong light at the top edge and a very cool color rendition.

3. The front camera should be exactly in the center of the hole in which it is installed.

If the camera lens is displaced in one direction, this may indicate that the body was handily opened and later could not be properly put in place.

4. The Lightning connector must be clean, if there are abrasions on its distant wall, this means that it has been used more than once.

5. The iPhone 6 CPO package must be complete, complete with new headphones, Lightning cable, and charger. They must be perfectly packed and free from any traces of use.

6. To make sure that the phone is working, you need to turn it on, the Apple logo should appear on the display in a couple of seconds, and then the interface of the first option will load. After turning it on, it doesn't hurt to check if the serial number in the phone settings matches the number on the box. To do this, go to: Options> General> About this device. The serial number is located on the bottom of the box.

If you carry out this light inspection, you can find what kind of iPhone 6 we have: the last one in use, or really a CPO. We hope that this will help save both money and nerves.

Should you consider an iPhone 6 CPO to buy?

The main advantage iPhone 6 CPO versus the new iPhone 6 is its cost. In Ukraine, the price of the official iPhone 6 is about 18 thousand UAH, and the iPhone 6 CPO - 14 thousand UAH, which is closer to the "gray" deliveries. With all this, the unique refurbished iPhone 6 has the same 1 year warranty as the official one. Surely, no one can guarantee that the iPhone 6 CPO will not break, because even new iPhones come across with a marriage. Still, this is one of the options to save on buying the official iPhone 6, if you want to have a manufacturer's warranty.

If you are looking for a brand new or used iPhone in stores, then it is likely that you will come across phones without a working Touch ID and are much cheaper than the rest.

In general, the smartphone is no worse and can serve you for a long time. Some acquaintances took such phones and are quite happy.

  • Perfectionists- if you like everything to work perfectly, then this option disappears right away. I myself am one of such people, and even if I do not use this function, I want it to work correctly.
  • Anyway on Touch ID- if you understand that this function is not so important to you, then you can safely take such a gadget for yourself and you will save a lot.

And once again I want to remind you that such devices work no worse than others, they just have a non-working scanner. I wrote a little higher about the reasons for its failure.

conclusions

In fact, the topic with a non-working Touch ID in an iPhone is a rather troublesome topic, especially for service centers for repairing Apple equipment.

Biometric sensor Touch ID first appeared in Apple devices in. A year later, he migrated to,. From a pleasant addition for owners of a flagship smartphone, the fingerprint scanner has turned into a real tool for protecting access not only to the mobile device itself, but also to individual applications, and has also become an integral element of the payment system. Unfortunately, Touch ID still does not always work the way it was intended and how users would like it. Let's try this to correct.

All the best deals for iPhones (there are even 20 thousand cheaper than the market). They change something and even give it away for free.

In May last year, Roman Yuryev already discussed this topic and told in detail how to set up Touch ID so that then for a long time forget about malfunctions of the sensor and entering the password manually. Unfortunately, over time, the algorithm of the fingerprint scanner still starts to work with some "quirks", which later only become more frequent. For example, after switching to iPhone 6, I was completely delighted with the updated Touch ID - it worked perfectly and clearly for more than a month, and then suddenly it began to malfunction, and this happened more and more every day.

The main thing is not to give up your hands, or in this case your fingers. The problem is solvable, and with the help of improvised means and does not require much of your time. This method was first described about a year ago, but for some reason passed by most of the thematic resources, although the method is really working, as I have seen from my own experience.

So, the best place to start is to delete all prints and set them up again as described in last year. After that, restart your smartphone, after completing all applications beforehand. Maybe these steps are superfluous, but let them be for the purity of the experiment. Now we go to Settings -> Touch ID & Password-> Enter the password, if necessary, and we get to the very menu where your fingerprints are stored.

Now - attention - no more manipulations and transitions are needed, just touching the scanner the way you do it to unlock the device. Pay attention when you hold a finger known to the system on the sensor, one of the prints in the list on the screen illuminated... This is the fingerprint of this finger, and you just performed an additional scan of it, the results of which iOS saved somewhere in the system on a chip.

In such a simple way it happens Touch ID training, the biometric sensor takes additional pictures of your finger and can use them to unlock. Take five to seven minutes to properly scan each of the stored fingers by applying them to the button while in this menu. Each time one of the prints is highlighted, this means that the procedure was successful. Additional scans of your finger will appear in the device's memory, and Touch ID will work much better, the triggering process will be noticeably faster.

To reiterate: each finger, in different ways, many times - the result will be noticeable immediately and will persist with everyday use of Touch ID.

The appearance of any new function in Apple devices (and not only) causes a wave of discussion, controversy, criticism. Not spared this fate and the fingerprint scanner built into the iPhone 5s and called Touch ID.

In the Canadian newspaper Toronto Star, it appeared entitled "iPhone 5s Fingerprint Reader: 10 Reasons It's a Bad Idea." The title of the article speaks for itself. But let's try to figure out if Touch ID really deserves criticism - let's take the arguments of the author of Toronto Star and take a closer look at them.

1. There is a video of a cat unlocking an iPhone. How soon will hackers get to the scanner?

Well, yes, such a video exists. Moreover, there are more than one hundred similar videos where Touch ID is unlocked using various parts of the body (including intimate ones), but what does this mean? Only that the scanner is capable of reading fingerprints not only from fingers. This is bad? No. Less secure? Also no. Your cat will only be able to unlock your iPhone if you have added her paw print to your trusted list. Well, of course, hypothetically, one can assume that the attackers, having pulled off your iPhone, will also grab your cat in order to unlock the device with its help ... Sounds silly, doesn't it?

As for hackers, they have already gotten to the scanner, but the methods of deceiving Touch ID are still far from common.

2. If Apple did something wrong, it will set the biometrics industry back for years.

What does “did something wrong” mean? And why should this have such a major impact on an industry that developed before Touch ID and will continue to develop afterward, even if it turns out that Apple was really wrong about something.

3. Touch ID is a solution to a non-existent problem

Here the author of the article asks a question that is painfully familiar from forum battles - why should people buy an iPhone 5s, pay big money for it, if they are satisfied with the iPhone 5. As in the forums, it is very difficult to answer such a question. Or very simply: the old model suits - well, don't buy a new one.

4. Apple uses fear to promote this product

Well, this is generally ridiculous. Fear of what? Before a possible theft of the device? Before possible access to confidential data? But Touch ID does not have any kind of super-protection, it just makes user identification more convenient compared to the usual password entry.

5. Wet and dirty fingers negatively affect sensor performance, causing errors

A weighty argument. And also - wet and dirty fingers do not work well with the touch screen. So they just need to be washed and dried.

6. Somewhere in the smartphone your prints will be stored, and someone can use them

First of all, Touch ID stores its data in a completely separate place, dedicated to this storage. And to the rest of the hardware part of the smartphone, only the result of the "ID check is successful / unsuccessful" type is transmitted. And somehow it is impossible to intercept this data from the outside.

Farther. IPhone does not store fingerprints. When a fingerprint is added, the finger is scanned and converted into a dataset, which is stored in the smartphone. Then, during identification, the finger is scanned again, another set of data is obtained, which is compared with the first. If the data match, the user is identified. At the same time, the sets of this data are specific to the iPhone, using them elsewhere (even with the assumption that they can somehow be stolen) simply does not make sense.

The kidnapper will receive gibberish, which will be as “easy” to convert back to a fingerprint as it is to recreate from a half-eaten cake, and even broken into small pieces, the original culinary masterpiece with all the decorations and cream lettering. Such a comparison was made by a specialist familiar with this issue.

7. It is complex software that can lead to problems

The author means that complex software is less resistant to hacker attacks. What is the answer to this? The iPhone 5s isn't the only electronic device in the world with sophisticated software. And nothing, others somehow live, cope ...

8. This is for a portion of the market only. Most people are not worried about safety.

Well, let them not worry. No one is forcing anyone to use Touch ID, just like no one is forcing anyone to use a password. But since the authentication procedure is much easier with a scanner than with a password, then maybe someone who did not think about security before will still use Touch ID?

9. Potential technical problems with the new product

Yes, it happens. But so far no problems have been noticed, moreover, users are reporting that Touch ID “just works” and works fine. And if we proceed from the logic that every new product may face technical problems, and therefore it is bad, then it’s better not to release new products at all, is it?

10. People will use Touch ID at the initial stage, but then refuse, as due to wear of the sensor identification will occur with a delay

Will there be this delay? Can anyone assert this with certainty? Now there is no delay, the device works quickly and does not cause problems.

And as a result. Once again - no one forces you to use Touch ID without fail. The sensor simplifies identification - and that's it, this is not a panacea for all ills, but also not their source. Whoever wants to will use it, the rest will simply use the smartphone in the manner familiar from previous models.
