It even broke, it happened, but contacts are always with me, my address book has been gradually replenishing since 2005 and the entries in it disappear only at my request - if I delete them myself.

How?

The answer is simple: sync with Google. And wait, don't close this post if you think it's difficult. It's easier than a steamed turnip. It's easier than calling your grandmother. It's easier than sending an SMS to a friend. It's easier than posting a selfie on Instagram. And, most importantly, it's a shame not to.

Of course, Google's servers aren't the only ones that know how to store contacts. Windows Phone will offer you its Outlook cloud service for this, iPhone - iCloud, but I recommend Google because absolutely all smartphones work with Google, by default, without crutches, "out of the box", with basic settings.

All you need to do to never lose your contacts is to sign up for a Google account. If you have GMail mail, then you already have a Google account. If you have a YouTube account, then you have a Google account.

Android

If you have Android - congratulations, you already have everything to never lose your contacts. To be honest, I don't understand why Android users from my Facebook feed are most often asked to send them phone numbers in comments. This is illogical.

Why? Because you can't fully use an Android smartphone if you don't have a Google account. In order to download even a free application from the Google Play store, you need a Google account. Actually, the data of the Google account is the first thing that will ask you to enter the phone after the very first turn on. And if you do not have an account, it will offer to create one. Of course, you can skip this stage, theoretically you can even use an Android smartphone without a Google account. But why then even a smartphone, if you cannot even download and install an application? (Not humanly you can, but we will not talk about it). However, if you missed a stage by accident or intentionally (for example, there was no Internet at hand, and authorization will not work without the Internet), you can also call it forcibly: "Settings" - "Accounts" or "Settings" - "Add an account" - " Google ".

So, account data is a username and password. At the same time, the login is an e-mail address, which in most cases ends with "@ gmail.com". For example, my Google mail address and, concurrently, my Google account login - [email protected] Well, I won't tell you the password - nothing.

So that's it. When you "feed" your Android smartphone the data of your Google account, Android automatically enables the synchronization of your data: contacts, mail, calendar, photos, and much more. There is even Google+, but you can turn off the excess later, if for religious reasons it is disgusting to you.

From the moment you connect your Google account, all your contacts on your Android smartphone will be synchronized with the Google server. You can easily check this by going to Google mail from any browser on your computer, and by going to the "Contacts" page.

Some smartphones, however, allow even with a configured Google account to store contacts only on the phone. But you need to turn it on manually and also find where to turn it on.

iPhone

If you have an iPhone, then a Google account is not required for you (here you already need an Apple ID), but, nevertheless, iPhones work with Google sync just as well as Androids. Moreover, you may not have an Apple ID, but you can still set up Google sync. It's just that the phone itself will not offer you this - you need to go to "Settings", there select the item "Mail, addresses, calendars", click "Add account" and select the "Google" logo.

And then - select the items to sync. By default, all are selected - pay attention to "Contacts", they must be enabled. If the rest is not needed, you can turn it off.

If you have several accounts, you can choose the one that will be used by default. In the "Mail, Addresses, Calendars" settings, scroll down a bit and find the "Standard Account" setting in the "Contacts" section. Select the one you created to sync with Google.
