T mobile is a mobile operator. T-Mobile: a German mobile pioneer. The cost of data packages Internet in T Mobile Poland when used in Europe

A large number of citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine in Poland can be explained by several reasons: someone works there, someone came to visit relatives or friends, someone - as a tourist. For whatever purpose you are there, you will need it. One of the most popular mobile operators in this country is T-Mobile. In this article, we will consider the services that T-Mobile provides in Poland.

The procedure for buying and registering a T-Mobile SIM card in Poland

T-Mobile is a popular German mobile operator. It is represented in many countries, including Poland. In this country, it still exists under the name Heyah (virtual operator). Let's first consider the procedure for purchasing and registering a SIM card from this operator.

According to Polish law, when buying a SIM card of any operator, registration of its owner is required. Some Polish operators offer certain bonuses for registration. Heyah offers unlimited calls for a period of 30 days and 10 GB of mobile Internet.

To purchase and register a SIM card, it is necessary to present an identity card at the point of sale (for citizens of other states - a passport, a Pole's card or a residence card). Then, to activate the card, you need to send an SMS "TAK" (in Latin letters) to the number 80575. The minimum cost of the T-Mobile starter package is PLN 5.

Tariff plans

T-Mobile offers several tariff plans for Polish subscribers:

  • 2w1 - unlimited on-net calls (T-Mobile and Heyah);
  • 3w1 - unlimited calls within the network + 1 GB of mobile Internet (for a month);
  • 4w1 - unlimited calls within the network +1 GB of mobile Internet (for a month) + free SMS.

This operator has a tariff plan with free roaming in Europe. It costs 25 PLN and is valid for 30 days. This tariff plan includes unlimited calls and SMS within Poland and EU countries, as well as 10 GB of mobile internet. Of these 10 GB, 1.26 GB can be used for EU roaming. T-Mobile also offers a one-day data plan. It costs 1 zloty and includes free calls and SMS in the country, as well as 300 MB of mobile Internet. If there is not enough traffic, the operator gives the opportunity to purchase additional megabytes or gigabytes.

additional information

To top up your balance on T-Mobile you need to purchase a 14-digit top-up code. This code can be bought at any salon of this operator, as well as at any grocery store or kiosk. Then you need to dial the combination * 111 * code #. That is, in this combination, you must enter the purchased code.

The virtual operator Heyah offers calls to Belarus and Ukraine at discounted prices. A minute of conversation to Belarus will cost 1 zloty, to Ukraine - 0.69 zloty. To do this, you must enter the combination * 100 * 870 #.

CDMA networks do not necessarily accept the use of all CDMA phones, and switching phones usually requires permission in the device.

Those unfamiliar with T-Mobile can use their old phones or buy used phones to get online. In these cases, they only need to purchase new SIM cards from the provider. Numerous popular devices are compatible with the T-Mobile network when using a new SIM card.

Upon arrival in Poland, you can purchase a starter pack both in small shops and in mobile phone stores and stores. household appliances... There are very often queues in the salons of mobile communication.

In 2016, Poland passed the Law on Countering Terrorism, which introduced compulsory registration SIM cards purchased in Poland.

To register the card, you will need a passport or other identification document.

You can register your phone in mobile phone stores, in post offices, in large supermarkets of household appliances. The whole procedure takes 5-10 minutes. Your data is entered into the database, then you receive an SMS with a code that you need to tell the employee - that's it.

A parent or guardian can register the card for a child under 13 years of age. To do this, you must provide the relevant documents and write an application. After the child reaches the age of 13, the SIM card can be re-registered to him.

Despite the fact that the only major manufacturer supplying to Russian market smartphones based on MS Smartphone platform (Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones) is Motorola (in fact, representing Chi Mei products), the main global supplier of such products is HTC, which produces, in addition to PDAs, a full range of smartphones and communicators based on Microsoft OS. We are already familiar with the products of this company based on the Pocket PC platform (see the reviews of T-Mobile MDA III and MDA Compact), now we will get acquainted with their smaller brothers.

In the last generation HTC smartphones there are three similar products, differing only in design details and keyboard construction. The base model is called Typhoon and is equipped with an elongated joystick button (it is sold under the designations i-Mate SP3, Qtek 8080), its slightly improved modification is equipped with a round five-position joystick and is called HTC Feeler (i-Mate SP3i, Qtek 8020), the latest version supplemented by four special keys on the front panel for controlling the player function and called HTC Amadeus (T-Mobile SDA Music, Qtek 8020i). In general, these three slightly modified products are available under the full range of brands that HTC products are sold under.

T-Mobile SDA is HTC Feeler, which has been slightly redesigned exclusively for a customer - a large Western European operator. It differs in a black plastic case (as opposed to a silver aluminum with a black insert on the front panel) and a pair additional keys to access Internet Explorer(of which the home page is, of course, T-Mobile) and a messaging program.

Design and construction

T-Mobile SDA is a monoblock device of average size for the present times. It is often claimed that the HTC Typhon / Feeler / Amadeus is the first smartphone to be no larger than a regular phone. This is not entirely true: SDA is still slightly larger than such devices as Motorola E398 or Sony ericsson K700i (these are the products that can be considered "average" for today), although the difference is minimal. Secondly, Motorola MPx200, even at the time of its release, was about as much larger than an average-sized "clamshell", and much more compact than most smartphones in its time, and even today a smartphone. However, this does not detract from the merits of SDA, and it can be considered one of the smallest modern devices based on an open OS, at least it is significantly smaller than Nokia smartphones, even the latest 3230 and 6680/6681 are somewhat larger than it.

As we said, SDA is the Feeler version with an exclusive design. The body consists of two halves, rear panel black, matte, front - also black, but glossy, the concave sides are also black, but smoother than the back surface, near them, closer to the front surface, there are two metal overlay plates, adding a silver color to the design color scheme. The assembly of the case is very neat, the materials are quite solid, so there are no backlashes and squeaks even when the smartphone is pressed firmly enough. The only drawback is that the back surface is quite easily soiled, fingerprints are clearly visible on it, which have a smoother, sleeker surface than a clean panel. Unlike dirt on glossy panels, which is more noticeable but easily erased, these stains cannot be removed simply by rubbing the phone on clothes, they must be removed on purpose.

The main keyboard consists of a standard digital block and a management group. The main keys are medium in size, they are located close to each other, but have a convex profile, both in vertical and horizontal sections, which makes them well distinguishable by touch. Management group consists of a five-position joystick, call and end-call keys, two soft keys, two more standard MS Smartphone buttons - Home and Back, as well as two special keys added in a special version for T-Mobile - calling Internet Explorer from the home page of T-Mobile services and accessing messages. The joystick and release keys are comfortable, their dimensions and mechanical efforts are optimally matched. Soft- and Windows-keys, lined up under the screen, are too small, it is not very convenient to find them, moreover, the small width makes pressing uncomfortable, the keys slightly cut your finger.

Only Latin letters are factory-applied on the numeric keys, on our sample (as, probably, on most of the parties of this device), Russian letters are laser-engraved. They are dimmer than the Latin ones, but it is quite possible to disassemble them, especially with backlighting.

Apparently, the smartphone does not have a keyboard lock. The instruction on this matter is silent, and the standard key combinations do not work. This is very inappropriate, since the keys are quite light and are often pressed accidentally. The joystick especially suffers, which is pressed almost constantly if the phone is placed with its front side to some relatively hard object in the pocket, for example, a wallet. Other buttons also work.

Additionally, on the side faces there are volume control and photography keys. The two-position rocker volume control is located on the left side, near the very top edge, it is small and difficult to find both due to its size and location. In the same way, but on the opposite face there is a button Photo, it is just as inconvenient, but it is not so critical for working with a smartphone.

On the top of the smartphone there is a power switch and an IrDA window, on the bottom there are connectors for a headset (standard concentric micro-jack with a diameter of 2.5 mm) and Mini USB, to which you can connect both a data cable and Charger.

On the back there is a built-in VGA camera lens and a self-portrait mirror.

An unusual piece of SDA equipment is a photo sensor located under the keyboard. The phone can be configured so that, depending on the readings of this sensor, the system will decide whether to turn on the keypad backlight. Despite the apparent uselessness, this system allows - in theory - to resolve eternal problem readability of inscriptions on illuminated and unlit keys in different lighting conditions. But in practice, SDA's color combination - white letters on a black background - is not prone to such problems, so to some extent unnecessary precautions.

The T-Mobile SDA is equipped with a 2.2 "TFT display with 65,536 colors and a resolution of 176x220 pixels. The screen is visually larger than that of the Motorola MPx 200/220, at the same resolution it means that it has a little larger grain size, but this does not affect the image quality too much. The picture is bright, clear, medium color saturation. The display is transreflective, so it is readable in the sun.

The phone comes with a 1050 mAh Li-Ion battery. It is held in the socket by means of a pair of protrusions at the upper end, while the lower edge is held by frictional force, the battery is also pressed by the lid. For ease of removal, cutouts are made in the side walls of the compartment, through which the battery can be grasped with your fingers for specially made projections on the side edges. Under the battery there are slots for a SIM card and a miniSD memory card, so in practice there is no question of hot swapping the latter - it cannot be removed without removing the battery, which means without turning off the smartphone. The battery compartment is closed by a plastic cover on a sliding mount.

Equipment

The smartphone is equipped quite richly. In addition to the device itself, the package includes a charger with a Mini USB output connector, a data cable with a USB interface, a medium-quality stereo headset, a cloth holster, a user manual (including a small booklet in Russian, it is well published, but it speaks it is not about the modified Feeler, but about the classic Typhoon, which can be seen in the pictures), a disc with standard software (ActiveSync and Pocket Outlook), and also - attention - a disc with software localization from Paragon. Taking this opportunity, we would like to say hello to Dixis and the Russian representative office of Motorola, who, for the sake of exclusivity, did not supply official MPx200 smartphones with localization distribution kit, which forced after each hard reboot to run to the service center to restore localization. Even the absolute and indisputable "gray", which is T-Mobile products in Russia and the CIS, provides better support users.

Configuration

T-Mobile SDA (like all other products based on HTC Feeler) is based on the TI OMAP 730 processor. The device is equipped with 32 MB random access memory and 64 MB - constant. From the first, 23.76 MB are available for writing user data, from the second - 9.79 MB. Expansion slots include miniSD - as follows from the specification of this interface and its location, only memory can be connected to it, but not peripherals. Wired interface SDA has one - this is USB (with the ability to charge the battery from the USB bus), among the wireless ones there are IrDA and Bluetooth. The latter supports the Headset, Hands-free and Serial Port profiles, the phone lacks the possibility of direct file transfer via the OBEX protocol.

Software

T-Mobile SDA is run by Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones and is equipped with a corresponding set of standard software applets. Their capabilities are described in detail in Motorola reviews MPx200 and MPx220, so here we will focus only on the distinctive features of SDA.

Control. Except for two "hot" keys, it fully complies with the MS Smartphone standard. The only exception is one annoying moment: when exiting the nested menu by pressing Back, the menu of the previous level is displayed on the first page, even if the corresponding sub-item was on the next. For example, if you exit the submenu Standard, or Games(which are on the third page of the main menu), the system will display the first page of the main menu (items Call log, Posts, Contacts etc.). To go after that to one of the neighboring points (the same Games or Standard), you will have to scroll through the main menu from the beginning, which, of course, is inconvenient.

Contacts. Now access to the built-in address book, SIM-manager and Photo Caller ID program, allowing you to assign photos to contacts, displayed when incoming call, collected in one item of the main menu, available immediately after pressing the key Start(left soft key).

T-Zones. Read: "Internet Explorer". Here the browser is disguised, as the home page in which, of course, the title page of T-Mobile services is registered. The phone comes preinstalled with a fairly large list of links recommended by the operator in the section Favorites... Of course, both this list and the home page can be overridden by yourself.

Camera. This is access to the functions of the built-in camera. It allows you to take photos and record videos. You can take pictures with resolutions 640 × 480, 320 × 240 and 160 × 120 pixels, there is also special modes to take a photo for a contact and a wallpaper for a desktop theme. Provides: 4x digital zoom, selectable white balance, night view, monochrome photography and two color filters (sepia and cool tones). Video can be recorded in MPEG-4, M-JPEG and H.263 formats. In all cases, two resolutions are available - 176x144 and 128x96 pixels. You can limit the file size to a specified number of kilobytes or use a preset that sets a file size limitation for sending via MMS. Shooting quality is typical for VGA cameras.

Album. This is a proprietary HTC applet designed for centralized work with graphics, audio and video. This program is familiar to us from MDA Compact, in many cases it replaces Windows Media Player.

EmailWiz. This is a simple wizard for configuring your email settings.

Java Manager. A program for managing and executing Java MIDlets, it is extremely easy to use.

Task Manager. This simple program allows you to manage tasks and applications running on your smartphone - view the list of programs currently running and close unnecessary ones. Previously, you had to install it yourself (although it was often included in the package), but now it is preinstalled in the smartphone from the very beginning.

Impressions and conclusions

The connection quality provided by the T-Mobile SDA is quite sufficient for urban conditions, however, the radio technical characteristics of this model, as it seemed to us, is slightly lower than that of most other modern phones. At the very least, wheezing and loss of frames when the reception conditions deteriorate in this smartphone appear earlier than in other modern devices.

From full charge battery life, the device works for 3-4 days at moderate active use functions and programs, and small amount conversations.

The polyphonic call sounds loud enough, its power is more than that of other smartphones for Microsoft platform, in terms of volume, it roughly corresponds to Nokia smartphones... The vibration signal is well felt, it is characterized by a frequency slightly higher than the average, and a fairly large amplitude. Vibration is felt more strongly on the sides of the device, but the front and back also transmit it well.

In the end, our opinion of the T-Mobile SDA (and therefore of the entire family of smartphones based on the Feeler reference design) turns out to be good. The device attracts with its small size, rather high performance (in this respect it is noticeably better than the Motorola MPx200 and even slightly surpasses the MPx220), large size and good quality display, quite convenient control, the presence of a Mini USB connector. In general, the device is easy to use and functional.

However, to call Feeler " perfect smartphone"As some people think it is, we cannot. Among the shortcomings, we can name the already mentioned issues with sensitivity and minor problems in ergonomics (no keyboard lock, small soft keys), and the main competitor - Motorola MPx220 - has a number of advantages over it (more easy access to a memory card, a 1.3-megapixel camera instead of VGA, a larger set of pre-installed programs).

However, in sum, the T-Mobile SDA is a very good solution, attractive to users, especially given the limited availability of the MPx220 and a reasonable, gradually decreasing price.
