General characteristics

A type

Determining the type of device (phone or smartphone?) Is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to opt for a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly shorter than that of a simple phone.

In 2015, Lenovo developed a strong business in the smartphone market. After a relative lull until the end of 2014, the following year, the Chinese manufacturer released one model after another. The intervention was mainly aimed at the general consumer market - the company offered devices that could be considered budgetary.

This strategy worked despite fierce competition from Xiaomi, Micromax and Motorola, which are also owned by Lenovo. After that, the Chinese company began to change its approach, and there was a slight shift in its strategy. The focus has begun to be on not only providing users with devices with a good value for money, but also focusing the attention of buyers on attractive functionality smartphones.

Lenovo Vibe The P1m LTE and Vibe P1 are part of this strategy. Their marketing feature is long battery life, although these devices come in a variety of price points. The Vibe P1 is an expensive phone, while the Vibe P1m is more affordable (€ 110). Significant increase in duration autonomous work designed to provide undeniable competitive advantages models. Below is an overview of the design, performance and features of the budget option.

Unpacking

The phone comes in a standard package, the entire surface of which is adorned with the brand name. Inside the box is the smartphone itself, headphones with a microphone, an AC adapter, a microUSB cable, and documentation. Along with the usual accessories, the manufacturer also provides a protective film and an additional back cover.

Design and build quality

In a price-sensitive market where every company is trying to drive down cost, design suffers first. Nearly all phones under $ 150 have an unprepossessing design. They are boring to look at. And while some companies try to break the monotony by using metal trim here and there, in fact, all of these models have the same rounded shapes, straight lines and a flimsy case back. Vibe P1m is no different from them. But this is a utilitarian design, and the reason everyone follows it is because it works well.

The Lenovo Vibe P1m White smartphone looks ordinary, despite the fact that the manufacturer tried to do something in this direction. The chassis of the phone, although plastic, imitates aluminum. The small plate around the camera on the back is made of the same material. It also houses an LED flash and a second microphone. The Vibe logo is applied to the panel below, and the manufacturer's name is displayed at the very bottom.

Wide bezels make it difficult to operate your phone with one hand. The dimensions of the smartphone are 141 x 71.8 x 9.3 mm, which is quite acceptable given the presence of a high-capacity battery. The same applies to the 148 gram weight. The mass is evenly distributed and gives confidence when using the phone.

The design would be more memorable and attractive if the manufacturer slightly improved the quality of the case material. The plastic used is soft to the touch and has a matte finish, but it looks and feels very cheap in appearance and tactile, although it is comfortable to hold and does not slip out of your hands. However, these comments apply to almost all phones in this price category... Thus, in this Vibe P1m is no different from competitors' models.

The build quality is good and instills confidence that the device can take a few bumps and drops with ease. It's nice that a case for the Lenovo Vibe P1m is included, although it looks very cheap too. But this accessory is offered free of charge, so there is nothing to complain about here.

Most of the surface of the front panel is taken up by a 5-inch screen. The ratio of its area to the area of the entire panel is 68%, which is due to the wide frames at the top and bottom. Below the screen are 3 Android touch buttons, and above it are the earpiece speaker, front camera, proximity and light sensors, and an LED indicator that is almost invisible against a black background.

A pleasant moment in the design of the Lenovo Vibe P1m, according to the owners, is the placement of the speaker. It is located at the bottom of the smartphone, not under the back cover. This means that the sound is not muted if the phone is placed on the table while music is playing. Although there are two grilles on the bottom panel, the speaker is hidden under one of them, while the other hides the main microphone.

On the top there is a 3.5mm headset jack and a microUSB port for charging.

The smartphone has the usual set of illuminated Android buttons- menu, return and go to home screen... But the phone has one more additional control. Like the mute button on the iPhone, it is located at the top of the left side of the case. It can be used to switch to battery saving mode. The smartphone owners really liked this solution.

The Lenovo Vibe P1m Black comes with a nano-coating that the manufacturer claims is designed to protect the device from accidental drops of water, etc. The company claims that the hydrophobic layer significantly increases the reliability of the smartphone, providing increased moisture resistance, protecting the phone from water ingress points and corrosion. There were users who, deciding to check how well the coating saves from water, and without finding specific instructions on how much moisture the phone can handle, poured a whole glass on it. Both speakers, microphone, screen and all other systems functioned after that as if nothing had happened.

The back panel of the smartphone is made of polycarbonate, fits snugly to the body and does not emit any creaks when pressed. According to user reviews, the plastic is very durable and does not collect fingerprints. The cover can be easily removed thanks to the recess at the bottom. Below it is a large battery, which takes up almost all the free space, and above it there are slots for placing two microSIM cards and microSD cards(up to 32 GB). The battery is not removable.

Connection

The smartphone supports 4G LTE network. The device operates in the frequency ranges TDD 1/3/5/7/8/20 and FDD 40, and also supports LTE Cat 4 with data rates of 150 and 50 Mbps, respectively. According to users who have tested LTE communication, they managed to get a stable download speed of 20 Mbps.

The phone has ample opportunities connections, including Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, point Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and A-GPS. There is also an FM radio.

Screen

The smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, which corresponds to a pixel density of 294 dpi. The screen turns to Retina when viewed from a distance of more than 30 cm.

Such a display quickly became the norm at this price point. The number of pixels is small, but Apple confirms again and again that the quality of the screen is greater than its resolution impacts on the user.

The display of the Lenovo Vibe P1m is decent. Text is displayed clearly and colors are vivid. Corners Lenovo review The Vibe P1m are good too. According to the manufacturer, they are close to 180 °, which is ideal for sharing multimedia content. However, the display is prone to glare, making it unclear when using the phone outdoors. The maximum brightness is 421 nits, which is not very high. In direct sunlight, it is difficult to read something on a smartphone screen, especially if the text is placed on a low-contrast background.

Automatic brightness adjustment works very aggressively, and turning it off only improves the perception. Another minor issue with the screen is that it picks up stains easily. If you use the phone for half an hour or so, you can see fingerprints all over its surface.

The display covers 91% of the sRGB color gamut and has a DeltaE color difference of 7.01. Blue, magenta, red and green are affected the most. The problem is that the white balance is bias towards blue, so the screen color temperature of 7842K is colder and the white has a blue tint. Gamma also leans towards darker areas with a value of 2.50. Luckily, Lenovo has an excellent display customization utility installed on the phone. MiraVision lets you manually adjust the contrast, saturation, brightness and clarity of the screen, and perhaps most importantly, the color temperature. By moving the slider towards lower values, users were able to achieve more accurate color reproduction compared to the factory settings, lowering the color temperature to 6728 K.

The capacitive sensor is fast and can register up to 5 touches at the same time.

Software

The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop platform. But generally, Lenovo phones have a completely different software and user interface than the operating system because Vibe UI is installed on top of it.

As is usually the case with smartphones from Chinese companies, there is no app drawer. Instead, all programs are accessible through the home screens, just like on the iPhone. Application icons that the manufacturer uses for the pre-installed and system programs are different from those offered by Google. The branded labels of the Chinese company are more colorful, fuller and rounder. If you place Google icons next to Lenovo apps, it doesn't look very nice. But this probably won't bother most owners.

The Chinese company has made changes to the quick notifications panel, and apps like settings are given Lenovo's user interface rather than Google's. As for the design software and interface, the owners have no doubts: the pure or unmodified Android OS installed on phones like the Moto G looks much better.

But when it comes to functionality, the smartphone has a lot to offer: themes, the ability to create your own shortcuts, gestures like rearranging apps when you shake your phone, and more. Although, according to the owners, there is little benefit from them. For example, why would someone rearrange the labels every time? After use mobile phone owners spend some time looking for icons on the home screen or in the app drawer using muscle memory. But the constant change in their position seems counterintuitive.

Lenovo Vibe P1m firmware includes many programs. CamCard lets you scan and collect Business Cards while Cam Scanner does the same with receipts, invoices, etc. There are also duplicate Evernote and Notebook apps that let you create notes. WPS Office allows you to read and edit documents. Twitter and Facebook are also very helpful. Even Lenovo's own apps offer many features. For instance, preinstalled programs SHAREit and CLONEit enable file sharing via wireless connection without Wi-Fi connection and Internet traffic charges.

The Lenovo Companion app allows you to diagnose problems with the Lenovo Vibe P1m. It also provides answers to frequently asked questions about the various phone systems and information videos. In addition, the tool allows you to search online for updates to the Lenovo Vibe P1m. But programs like Guvera Music and Tap The Frog are useless and resource-intensive software. Fortunately, there are not many similar applications on a smartphone. Other phones are just overflowing with them.

Programs can be grouped into folders. For example, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, WeChat can be placed in the social software folder.

Lenovo Vibe P1m: camera review

The model is equipped with 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front image sensors. They perform generally well, although you shouldn't expect much from them, especially when shooting in low light conditions.

When there is a lot of light, the smartphone is capable of very beautiful photographs. The colors are especially pleasing: they are clean and energetic. Close-up shots are especially good, although blurring of details is obvious. The Lenovo Vibe P1m's camera does this, possibly to hide noise or graininess in the image. Still, if you hold your phone well and compose your composition wisely, you can get beautiful macro and landscape photos.

However, there are several problems. Exposure measurements are made with varying degrees of success. V automatic mode the phone tends to overexpose images. However, this does not happen all the time, as it depends on the contrast and illumination of the scene. At the same time, if you use spot metering by touching the area of the screen to focus on, the smartphone underexposes the pictures a little. In harsh light, that is, in bright sunlight, the white balance is also unreliable.

The camera aperture is small, but quite good compared to other phones in this price range. It can take a second or two for a smartphone to focus in difficult situations, and if an object is moving, such as a dog, it will be very difficult to get a blur-free image.

In low light, the image quality is mediocre. Again though, with proper use of the Lenovo Vibe P1m smartphone, you can take some great photos. But due to the aggressive noise reduction, there will be noticeable blurring of details.

The front camera of the Lenovo Vibe P1m, according to the owners, is good enough for taking self-portraits in good lighting. When there is not enough light, you will not be able to get images that you would like to post on social networks.

Video recording quality is mediocre. The phone can record 720p videos, but they lack detail. According to user reviews, they do not have a desire to film their child's birthday on this smartphone.

Performance

The surprise for users is that there is no expected slowdown of the smartphone due to the combination of a rather modest chipset and a cumbersome user interface. The characteristics of the Lenovo Vibe P1m are largely due to the 64-bit processor MediaTek MT6735P, made using 28nm technology, which consists of 4 ARM 53 cores, operating at a frequency of up to 1 GHz. The CPU is paired with a Mali T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

The phone comes with 16GB of internal storage, of which just over 11GB is available.

Lenovo Vibe P1m owner reviews call it quite functional. User interface functions stably, and although there is some lag in scrolling or animation, the owners are not worried about this. The smartphone performs as smoothly as the models that cost twice as much.

Launching multiple applications, including Chrome browser loaded with tabs makes the phone run a little slower, but that won't be the deciding factor for abandoning the purchase. The performance, no matter what the user is doing, is good enough.

This does not mean that the Vibe P1m is fast smartphone but compared to its competitors, it is no worse, and it works just as smoothly as with the Moto G or Xiaomi Note.

Gaming performance is good, although games like Asphalt 8 will have to be satisfied with graphics settings reduced to medium. The game runs at high settings, but is more responsive when lowered.

The best thing about the characteristics of the Lenovo Vibe P1m is that even with prolonged use, for example, when playing Asphalt 8, the phone does not heat up.

Voice quality during calls is surprisingly good. The sound is clear and crisp. According to user reviews, they did not have any interruptions in calls that they could attribute to the phone, and not to the cellular operator. The speaker is loud, but its quality is not high enough to set it apart from a range of smartphones of similar value. The mids and highs are rich without any distortion. The lower ones are accompanied by interference.

Temperature and comfort

According to users who tested the phone with the Epic Citadel app for 2 hours and measured the rear panel temperature in 3 places, the hottest area (41.3 ° C) is located around the camera. The other 2 zones remained much colder: in the middle, the device warmed up to 34.8 ° C, and the lower part - to 33.5 ° C. This temperature is acceptable as users tend to touch the bottom of the device.

Battery life

The long-term battery life of the phone is its most touted feature. The model comes with a 3900mAh battery. For a device with a screen size of 5 inches, that's a lot. A large supply of energy allows the smartphone to function much longer than usual. Depending on the mode of use, the battery life when the 3G connection is on is 15-16 hours. And this is at a fairly intense load. With more gentle use, the smartphone will last longer.

The long battery life of the Lenovo Vibe P1m is also confirmed by the owners in the PCMark battery benchmark test. This is the first phone to cross the 10-hour mark.

According to the manufacturer's instructions, the standby time when using 2G reaches 19 days, 3G - 23.5 days, 4G - 20.5 days. Call duration on 2G networks is 36.5 hours, 3G and 4G - up to 16 hours.

In addition, the model supports fast charging. According to the technical specifications, just 15 minutes of connection to the network will provide several hours of smartphone operation. In addition, the high capacity of the battery allows you to recharge other devices from it.

Simplified mode

There is a "Smart Battery Mode" option in the battery menu with no information about what exactly it does. If necessary, you can turn it on, and this will increase the battery life. The aforementioned dedicated switch located on the left side of the smartphone enables simplified mode. Activating the function makes the background black and allows you to use only the main applications - to view and send messages, make and receive calls, launch the calculator, etc. Multitasking menus disappear, but thanks to all these restrictions, battery life is significantly increased. If you need to return to normal mode, you just need to press the button again.

Conclusion

The Lenovo Vibe P1m phone is not without its drawbacks. But overall, it offers more than enough in terms of equipment, performance and value to justify its cost. Indeed, this is a good option for its price. Lenovo Vibe P1m does not shine with design, but the build quality is good. Performance too. The battery life is fantastic. The camera is good enough. The screen could have been better as it is not bright enough to make the display visible in the sun. The user interface is lacking in taste, but that also depends on personal preference.

All in all, the Vibe P1m is a phone that lives up to its price tag, although it's not without its drawbacks.

Probably, every user of modern smartphones quite often encounters situations when the device's charge is rapidly decreasing. And after noon it practically drops to zero. Manufacturers of mobile equipment have been struggling with this problem for several years. They, like the TRIZ inventors, are looking for alternative solutions... However, increasing the battery capacity invariably introduces not the best adjustments to the ergonomics of the device. One of the breakthroughs in this area is Lenovo smartphone Vibe P1M, reviews of which confirm this fact.

Brief set of technical characteristics

The Lenovo Vibe P1M smartphone, reviews of which quickly spread in the international network, is unlikely to be able to claim the title of a well-deserved flagship. However, according to ordinary users, it is able to pleasantly surprise potential buyers. Let's try to find these parameters and consider the rest.

To be precise, we have before us a typical representative of the class of smartphones, made in a form factor known as a candy bar. The SIM card will have to be processed according to the Micro standard. The device works in GSM networks. Data transfer is carried out at the expense of EDGE technologies, HSPA. An option with LTE 4G is also possible.

Platform and chips

Many people have appreciated the Lenovo Vibe P1M smartphone. Customer reviews indicate good performance. People rate her as a solid four. The device operates on the basis of the Android operating system version 5.1. It has built-in two gigabytes of RAM, but the user has access to applications of the order of 1.5 GB. At the same time, the built-in memory for storing user data is 16 GB. This does not include external media. Supports Micro SD memory cards up to 32 gigabytes in size.

Protection and autonomous work

In its class, this is one of the most competitive devices - the Lenovo Vibe P1M 16 GB smartphone. Reviews indicate that the device is equipped with special devices to protect it from moisture and dust. For his 13 thousand rubles, such a move cannot but be appreciated by amateurs. mobile devices... By the way, the device uses a lithium-polymer type battery. It is designed for 4000 milliamperes per hour. Unfortunately, the battery is not removable. Despite this, the Lenovo Vibe P1M smartphone is able to work for a long time. Dual SIM: reviews of its owners say that the gadget can work up to 16 hours in cellular networks third generation. During the work will be about 564 hours.

Screen and processor

Probably, the latter was worth mentioning in the "chips" paragraph. But since we did not, we will try to link the work central processing unit with a screen. There is a typical display with a diagonal equal to five inches. The picture is displayed in HD quality. This means that we are dealing with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels. For the assembly of the screen, an IPS-type matrix was used. It reduced eye strain.

According to users, even if the color rendition is at the level, it will not be possible to call it excellent either. The dot density is 294 pixels per inch. The display is capacitive and reacts to five simultaneous touches. This is the maximum value. And as a processor we have here a real "work of art" from MediaTek. As part of the chipset, four cores work at once. The operating frequency is 1 gigahertz. Enough for solving even non-trivial tasks, as well as for working in multitasking mode. However, demanding applications will freeze, unfortunately.

Camera and interfaces

Lenovo P1M Vibe Dual, reviews of which were left in large numbers by buyers on the company's official resource, has a main camera module with a resolution equal to eight megapixels. The device is equipped with a function to automatically focus on the subject. Customers are pleased that video recording is available at a frame rate of 30 frames per second and a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels.

In addition, there is a flash for taking photos in low light conditions. The front camera module is rated at five megapixels. Among communication opportunities it is necessary to highlight Wi-Fi operating in the b, g and n bands, "Bluetooth" version 4.1, the presence of the LTE module. Then everything is according to the standard. The same MicroUSB version 2.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack. This is probably all we need to know.

Equipment

Lenovo Vibe P1M Onyx can hardly surprise with its package. Reviews about him literally blew up the Internet at first. But then, as ordinary people write, it turned out that the set is not so rich. Although a certain quality of accessories is present. When we open the box, we can immediately find the charger. Its output voltage is 5.2 volts. There is also a Micro USB cable. There are also simple headphones for listening to music or radio. These are the same earbuds. Of course, they will do as a headset if there is simply no alternative. Otherwise, there is no point in using them.

Design and appearance features

Getting to know the device does not give an unambiguous idea of it. Opinions remain controversial. There are as many specialists as there are. But they all agree that the phone is actually made for a lot less money than it looks. The designers achieved this by polishing the side bezel of the device. They also processed the camera lens, display edging and each of the keys. This most expensive glitter really confuses everyone. This processing is most often found in metal smartphones. And when we take our device, we expect to feel cold. But it was not there.

Probably, the first disappointment awaits us immediately about what the Lenovo Vibe P1M Black smartphone is made of. User reviews describe that, like the versions made in other colors, it is completely made of plastic materials. However, you don't have to get used to this for a long time. It turns out that the plastic is of acceptable quality. It is very pleasant to the touch, and practical. For example, the back cover is made of soft-touch. It has grippy sidewalls. We can say that designers are working off their money with interest. They did a good job, took into account the smallest flaws. We cannot find fault with any element of the exterior, even if we really want to. There is simply no reason. The same can be said for the build quality. This is not the highest mark, but it will come down to a solid four. There is a slight creak when bending the side panels. But you won't be able to make a claim to the back cover. She's tough, solid, thick.

Lenovo Vibe P1M White smartphone. Reviews, ergonomics

In terms of colors, the Chinese company hasn't gone overboard. She just followed the principle of classic designs. An example was the Lenovo Vibe P1M smartphone, the reviews of which are not much different from its white counterpart. In any case, the device has fairly typical dimensions, which are typical of modern state employees. Well, thickness is an exception. In our case, this is 9.35 millimeters. In this case, the mass of the device is equal to 148 grams. Such characteristics, which are far from characteristic of ultra-class smartphones, are the result of the built-in battery with a capacity of 4 thousand milliamperes per hour.

Such conditions are not very conducive to a decrease in overall characteristics. Despite this, the company's designers and engineers have made every effort to achieve this goal. This should include visual methods. There are also tactile features. For example, we are talking about beveled edges. They partially hide the thickness of the smartphone. By the way, it is no coincidence that plastic was chosen as the material for the manufacture. If you use metal, you get an ugly mini-brick. The balancing system was brought to mind by the designers. As a result, we have a strong, one might say, well-knocked down smartphone, which nevertheless does not tire the hand even with long-term use.

Control elements

Connectors along with buttons are located quite typical for the company's smartphones. On the right side, we can find a screen lock key. A coupled button for adjusting the volume and changing the sound mode is also located a little higher. Everything is quite prosaic here. The only thing that stands out is the elements: they are unusually displaced downward. For the fingers at first, this arrangement is unusual. However, buyers assure that you get used to everything. And this case is no exception.

The bottom edge contains holes that are responsible, respectively, for the output of the microphone and speaker. The left side is also interesting. There is only one button, you can call it a slider. When moved, it activates the power saving mode or, conversely, deactivates it. In the upper part we can see the interface connectors, the location of which has already become a tradition for Lenovo. There are two inputs here: one for wired headphones of 3.5 mm standard, and the other for a MicroUSB cable.

The front panel will appear completely black if the display of the device is turned off. This small detail, which the designers took into account, delighted the buyers, let's not hide it. At the top of the screen, we can see the traditional layout. It consists of an indicator that signals missed events, conversational dynamics, front camera. Brightness and proximity sensors have been added to "taste". That, in principle, is typical for a phone, the price of which is 13 thousand rubles.

Display

There is no need to talk about surprises here. Although this is not so surprising if we take into account the price of the smartphone. A typical IPS-matrix can be distinguished. The screen has a diagonal of five inches. With such indicators, the picture on the display is displayed in HD quality, that is, our resolution is 1280 by 720 pixels. The common people say that, of course, it is far from perfect, but the image quality is far from bad. Rather, it is characteristic of more or less good budget smartphones.

After reviewing the brightness and contrast levels, you can begin to calibrate them. But there isn't much room for action. It is possible to read text in natural light, buyers do not complain about this. Everything is in order and with the viewing angles. But what pleased me was the good, high-quality It allows you to avoid fast sticking of prints. And when it does, you can quickly and easily erase them.

Hardware part

The subject of our today's review is equipped with a fairly efficient processor from the MediaTek family. This is the MT6735m chipset. We can say that the four cores of "Cortex-A53" cope well with the tasks set for the processor. The clock frequency of each of them is equal to 1 gigahertz, but there can be no question of greater acceleration. The "Mali-T720" is installed as a graphics accelerator. In principle, such a link makes it possible to work effectively in multitasking mode without crashes and freezes. Although the so-called heavy toys will not behave quite adequately. Due to insufficient processor performance, the frame rate drops significantly compared to the lighter, simpler options.

Even with maximum load processor and smartphone as a whole, we practically do not feel that the case is hot. This is good. But I would like to note here, perhaps, the most important detail: the developers have worked hard to save the charge. And although the lithium-polymer battery itself is rather big, the energy saving functions have played into the hands, as they say. Among other nice features of the hardware, according to the owners of the smartphone, one can name the presence of two gigabytes of RAM. It is, of course, not fully available for user tasks. But it is difficult to argue with the fact that this is a winning solution offered by a Chinese company to its potential buyers. From long-term memory (16 GB), about 12-14 are available. Wireless interfaces include "Bluetooth" version 4.1, as well as LTE. You can also use two SIM cards of the Micro standard.

Software

The official website of the manufacturer describes in detail the Lenovo Vibe P1M Black smartphone. Customer reviews are also available there. People write that they were pleasantly surprised when they took the device out of the box. They found it was running Android 5.1 operating system. The Chinese manufacturer has built in the software and its shell, so to speak, a proprietary solution. If someone does not know, then we will tell you that its feature is the ability to choose a certain visual theme. This is a traditional move for the company's smartphones. The Р1М model has enough a large number of in advance installed programs and services. Many of the users will probably think that the software does not carry any payload. Perhaps it is. However, setting it during repeated tests did not affect the overall performance in any way. Therefore, it is hardly worth talking about it.

I would like to thank the software engineers and shell developers for their great work on the interface. Even after a short use, you already understand that everything works quickly, smartly, without any time delays. This is what is truly uncommon for a smartphone offered to buyers at this price point. Stability of work, efficiency - that's distinctive features this unit compared to other competitors. During the tests, no anomalies and crashes were noticed in the shell.

Photo and video

Here again, everything revolves around the cost of the Lenovo Vibe P1M Black. Reviews say that, on the one hand, one should not expect any transcendental results from a smartphone from this price category. On the other hand, say that with photographic capabilities the situation of the apparatus is bad, its tongue does not turn in any way. Rather, this is a positive standard for a smartphone of the corresponding class. A main camera of eight megapixels and a front camera of five units await us. Lovers of self-portraits, by the way, will appreciate these modules.

There is one interesting pattern. It manifests itself in the fact that the quality of the resulting images will be directly proportional to the level of illumination at the shooting location. Smartphone buyers point out that it will be difficult to get a good sharpened shot in rainy, sunny weather. There is a certain set of standard settings that you can tweak to squeeze the maximum quality out of the cameras. Video is recorded at 720p, but can be downsampled. To conclude, to summarize: the camera can take good pictures. But not masterpieces, that's for sure.

Lenovo Vibe P1M phone. Reviews

What can people who have purchased this model of a Chinese device tell us? Reviews from two online equipment stores were taken as a basis. Thanks to them, it was possible to find out that positive features are such elements as a productive processor, working in conjunction with a considerable amount of RAM, an energy-efficient lithium-polymer battery. Users note that the LTE module works well without any glitches. But what they don't like about the phone is not the best (in contrast) screen and not very high-quality cameras. Although with skillful handling and favorable conditions, they are able to take quite decent pictures. As for the rest, the device is fully consistent with the price for which it is offered on the market. Especially considering the smooth operation of the software and operating system.

We cannot call the appearance of Lenovo VIBE P1m attractive, but nevertheless its design claims to be some kind of its own, certain originality. The smartphone fits comfortably in the hand, but the thickness of its body is well felt in the palm of your hand. Dimensions Lenovo VIBE P1m - 141 × 71.8 × 9.8 mm (in the area of the lens the thickness reaches 10.2 mm), weight - 152 grams. Although it looks compact for a 4000 mAh battery carrier, comparison with other smartphones is no longer in its favor. In terms of dimensions, the phone is comparable to the Lenovo A5000, and in terms of weight it is lighter than the 5-inch Huawei Honor 4C and the flagship HTC One M9.

From the front, Lenovo VIBE P1m looks typical and differs little from the same Lenovo A6010 - rounded corners, separate keys under the screen and camera sensor eyes with a speaker grill above it. The sides of the smartphone are decorated with a strip of plastic painted in a metallic color. The location of the power and volume keys is standard - top right. The presence of a separate lever on the left is unusual, with its help you can switch to the power saving mode. But this idea is not new and has already been implemented, for example, in Philips smartphones Xenium series (if you take the same Philips Xenium W6610). An interesting detail - Lenovo VIBE P1m received protection against splashes and water drops in the form of a coating using P2i technology. But this does not mean complete waterproofing, just the device will not become unusable if you accidentally spill water on your smartphone. However, by and large, this is true for most other phones as well. The bezels around the screen are quite large - the screen-to-surface ratio is about 68%. On the bottom edge, you can find two holes stylized as stereo speakers, but the sound comes from only one of them. Under the other, most likely, a microphone is hidden. The back of the smartphone looks unusual, but its design strongly depends on color - in black it is textured, like in Lenovo A6010, and in white it is smooth. The camera was decorated with an oval-shaped textured plastic insert that wraps around the lens and the backlight LED.

The body of the smartphone is collapsible, it is assembled from durable polycarbonate, the build quality is average. Everything would be good, but the lid of our sample did not fit very tightly and slightly backlash near one of the corners.

The Lenovo VIBE P1m smartphone can be purchased in two colors - Onyx Black (or just black) and White Pearl (white).

Screen - 3.9

5-inch display Lenovo VIBE P1m - average quality, in this price range (18-20 thousand rubles) screens are found and better.

The type of matrix used is IPS, the screen resolution is 1280 × 720 pixels, of some kind protective glass or oleophobic coating here, unfortunately, is not. The screen is easy to get dirty with fingerprints and difficult to wipe off afterwards.

The image looks sharp enough - after all, the pixel density is 294 per inch. The viewing angles can even be called good. The brightness range is better than average - from 12 to 427 cd / m2 (much better than, for example, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser). In sunny weather, reading from the screen is a little difficult, and at night it is slightly blind to the eyes. In the screen settings, you can enable auto brightness, it works quickly, but, in our opinion, it saves battery power too much - with it the image looks dull. The contrast of the image is low - 680: 1, at the level of Microsoft Lumia 550. Color gamut slightly at the same sRGB and covers 96% of it. The color temperature is far from ideal - 8200, which makes the picture on the screen look cold. But overall, the color deviations turned out to be small, which is good news. It is a pity that the phone does not support operation with gloves, and there are no picture quality adjustments in the display settings.

Camera

Lenovo VIBE P1m is equipped with 8 and 5 megapixel cameras, respectively. The quality of the images is average for its resolution and low for the price of a smartphone.

The maximum photo resolution is 3264 × 2448, there is a flash (LED backlight) and autofocus. In terms of modes and effects, everything is typical, even minimalistic - there is an HDR mode (increasing the detail of objects in the shadows), shooting panoramas and four effects ("sepia", "negative", "monochrome" and "underwater"), that's all. This set can be called more than modest. It's good that at least you can turn off the annoying shutter sound when taking a shot.

As for the quality of photos, it is average for its resolution. You can take a photo of the text of the document or take a passing shot, but you should not hope for more. Detailing is good for 8 MP, but the camera is noticeably "noisy" even during the day, there is little use from the HDR mode, and panoramas are shot only with low details (as if they were stitched together from low-resolution photos). Night photos come out dim, the camera has a clearly low light sensitivity. For example, where more or less bright photos are obtained on the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, on the Lenovo VIBE P1m only "darkness with noise" is visible.

It looks a little strange, but the main camera of the smartphone does not shoot Full HD video (although the cheaper Lenovo A6010 can do it), the maximum available resolution is 1280 × 720 pixels (at 25 frames per second). This looks strange, given that the processor in the VIBE P1m is technically capable of providing Full HD shooting.

The 5MP front camera is good for selfies. For video calls, in principle, the same, although the video resolution is not adjustable and initially equal to 640 × 480 pixels - not enough.

Working with text - 3.0

Lenovo is in no hurry to draw its own keyboard and always uses the standard one from Google. It looks like a light gray panel with a set of symbols that are not delimited by borders. It is quite convenient to work with such a keyboard. It has support for continuous input (Swype) and separate key to switch between languages. At the same time, there is no markup of additional symbols on it, only numbers on the top row of keyboard icons.

Internet - 4.0

Initially, Lenovo VIBE P1m has UC Browser and Google Chrome browsers installed. The first, in our opinion, is very functional - there is a search, a separate reading mode, access to adjusting the brightness of the display, bookmarks and traffic settings. But in Google Chrome, you can synchronize the history of downloaded pages and bookmarks with the desktop version of the browser.

Communications - 2.6

For wireless communications, Lenovo VIBE P1m can only please with support for LTE and USB On-The-Go, otherwise this is a typical set:

  • regular Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n with the ability to distribute the Internet
  • LTE (bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)
  • Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP profile supported
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support
  • FM radio, you need headphones to work.

On the top of the case there are Micro-USB 2.0 and Mini-jack connectors for connecting a headset. There are three slots under the cover, two for a MicroSIM card and one for a memory card. The USB connector supports OTG for connecting external devices.

Multimedia - 3.2

Lenovo VIBE P1m only supports the most common audio formats. So, it does not play FLAC, WMAV2 and AC-3. The situation with video is better, it failed only with MPG, RMVB and some MKV videos.

The phone initially has music players"Music", "Guvera Music" and the usual " Google play Music". In the first case, this is a simple application with a minimum of settings like displaying texts. The last two are music services with their own players, in the paid version of which you can listen to songs offline. On Lenovo VIBE P1m, you can find two video players - the standard "Video Player" and UC Video. In the first, there are no unusual possibilities. In the second, there are features like fast rewind, volume and brightness control by "swipe" across the screen.

Battery - 4.3

The battery life of the Lenovo VIBE P1m is one of the very best smartphones we've tested. It was enough for us for one and a half or two days of work. The key to good results is a capacious 4000 mAh battery and a rather weak filling.

When watching HD video at maximum brightness (Airplane mode), the smartphone lasted 10.5 hours, which is slightly more than. When listening to music, the Lenovo VIBE P1m lasted 105 hours, which is comparable to the results of the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P. An hour of work of the GeekBench Battery Test benchmark with a dimmed screen "ate" only 6% of the charge, so far this is the best result that we have ever seen (again, the combination of a capacious battery and a weak processor affects). In games, the smartphone will last for 5-6 hours - an hour of playing "Minions" drained the battery by only 16%.

Lenovo VIBE P1m is expected to take a long time to charge using charger from the kit (for 2A) - it took us a little more than three hours. Separately, we note the power saving mode, which can be activated with a toggle button, in which you switch to a simplified black and white system interface with access only to the main functions of the smartphone.

Performance - 1.8

Lenovo VIBE P1m can be regarded as a smartphone with low, and even low performance, but it is quite enough for smooth operation in everyday use.

The model uses a 64-bit processor entry level MTK MediaTek MT6735P - four cores ( clock frequency 1 GHz), the same we saw in the Lenovo A2010. Responsible for the graphics accelerator Mali-T720. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, which is standard for the price tag of the device. In daily use, the smartphone works quite smoothly and without any obvious slowdowns. Simple games like Angry Birds or Minion Rush run without problems and freezes, but something heavier is already starting to slow down noticeably. For example, Asphalt 8 starts up quietly, and you can even play at low graphics settings, but the picture is still constantly twitching. In benchmarks, Lenovo VIBE P1m shows good results thanks to the large amount of RAM:

  • GeekBench 3 - 1326 points (Asus Zenfone 2 Laser scores a hundred better)
  • AnTuTu 6 - 24,041 (comparable to Lenovo VIBE Z2)
  • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited - up to 3069 (Lenovo A6010 - 4334).

We also decided to check if the smartphone heats up during use. But you can be calm, there is no overheating and will not be. 30 minutes of playing "Minions" heated the back of the device to only 36.4 degrees.

Memory - 4.0

Built-in volume Lenovo memory VIBE P1m is 16 GB, of which 11.1 GB is available. To expand it, there is a slot for a MicroSD card (up to 32 GB). It can be installed and changed without rebooting the device (hot swap). Separately, we note that not all applications are transferred to the card, and most of the pre-installed ones cannot be deleted.

Peculiarities

Lenovo VIBE P1m has several features - support for LTE and two SIM cards, a slot for a memory card and a separate key to go into power saving mode. But the most important thing is a capacious battery, which provides the device with high autonomy.

The phone is running the system Android version 5.1 and proprietary interface. It is not yet clear whether the smartphone will receive an update to Android 6. Lenovo VIBE P1m comes with quite a few preinstalled applications, for example, for social networks(Facebook, Vkontakte, Twitter, Skype), free WPS Office, Explorer and Lenovo Companion Mobile ( technical support, diagnostics, checking for updates, and the like).

For the sixth day, the owner of Lenovo Vibe p1. Well, what can I say, it's not worth $ 300. The promised camera is 13 ((for 3 on a five-point, against Samsung note 2, and was not lying around. Vibro, Vibro seems to be not there, weak vibro, this is in order to save battery. Battery yes, two days, boldly holds, I torment him to the fullest, I find out, I’m getting to know him, I think 4 days in the waiting mode freely. The screen is of high quality, assembled in good faith, the loud sound is clear, and when talking to a minimum. For half the price I had to take Lenovo A7000
