However, despite the fact that the demand for these on the part of PC users is great (if not huge) and, it would seem, there is something to choose from, but that was not the case: some have limited functionality (and on both legs: -)), others have an "incomprehensible-crooked" interface, the third, the saddest (very many), also pay money for all this disgrace. But let's not talk about sad things, because they come across. We will talk about one of these (from the Free Time development group), as mentioned above, codenamed Format Factory.

As always, you first need to download this miracle of programming thought from the official site. To do this, simply use (the online installer will be downloaded, which will download the most recent version) or go to the developers page (1) and click on the Download link (see image).

Note:
Please note that the program requires an OS of the Windows family. However, she calmly got on the 64-bit system and is not particularly capricious.

Further, if you used the transition to the developers' site, then we are offered a choice of three options for downloading the program distribution kit: through the main (1), auxiliary (3) servers and -client (2) (see image).

Launching, configuring and working in the "Format Factory" converter

Installation is extremely simple, it is done in two clicks, so there is simply nothing to describe here. The only thing worth noting is that it is advisable to check the "Install inside codecs" checkbox (in the final installation menu) so that the program uses its own codecs when performing conversion operations.

After launching the application, the main window of the program appears in front of us (see image).

Let's start right away with the settings for ourselves, beloved.

General settings are made through the "Actions" -> "Settings" menu (see image).

On the first tab "Settings" in the "Destination folder" field (1), you can specify the folder where the converted files will be placed and apply the template in the name of the output file.

In chapter " After conversion "(2) you can determine what action will be performed after the conversion process is completed: turn off the computer / open the folder with the result. The first can be useful when converting large files (or their a large number) - you can start the conversion, and lie down to press the pillow yourself (:-)) - after the conversion is completed, the computer will be turned off. The second can be useful if the received files need to be copied or played back.

The section "Sounds" (3) is responsible for sound accompaniment actions in the program. Section "Miscellaneous" (4) - for the coagulability of the program's blood in the tray and its updating.

Although there are quite a few settings tabs (as many as 8 pieces), it is not so easy to understand which one is responsible for what on the fly, but, in general, it is not so critical for us, because the most difficult and important is already immediately configured for the usual user. If you are an unusual user (and among our readers you can often find such instances :-)), then you can safely dig (in more detail) in the settings, and tell us something valuable that we missed. We are moving on.

The general principle of working with Format Factory is extremely simple (just like two and two :)) and is fully disclosed by the following 5 points:

In the left pane, the action to be performed with the multimedia files is selected;
In the window that appears, select source files and tuning is done. Then the "Ok" button is pressed;
Press the "Start" button in the main window of the program;
We are waiting for the completion of the conversion process;
The files are ready for viewing (and located in the appropriate folder).

Now let's illustrate the process a little. Let's say you need to convert a video file from mp4 to avi format and do it with the highest possible quality. Select the desired format "All in AVI" (1), set the quality (the "Customize" button opposite the "Quality" line), indicate the location desired file(2) and press the "Ok" button.

Note:
If you initially did not bother to delve into the program settings and did not specify the destination folder for the converted file, it is not too late to do this. Click "Select" and determine the permanent habitat of your content.

Note:
Pay attention to such an element as the status bar (1), it displays what we are actually trying to do and what this attempt will then result in in the form of a finished file.

After conversion, you can safely go to the final file receiver, where, in fact, the converted file should appear. We launch it and see if everything suits us.

The process of converting audio files / images into various formats is completely identical to the process of converting video. Experiment and see for yourself.

What I would like to note about the conversion process itself: firstly, the conversion occurs with minimal loss of quality (if any), and secondly, the time it takes for the program to convert files depends on the size of the files themselves and the iron agility of your computer friend. In terms of speed, Format Factory, in general, is not inferior to its paid counterparts.

Actually, the program coped with its main task, as they say, "with a bang", but we will not stop there and show a few more .. uh .. "chips" that can be very useful to an ordinary user.

Format Factory. What else can you do?

Format Factory provides users with a number of additional functions(besides the process of converting audio / video itself), let's look at some of them.

Getting information about a video file
Some avid videophiles are obsessed with the quality of their monitors. Agree, it's nice when you have a monitor like a screen in a cinema (with FullHD picture quality), and you can fully enjoy the riot of colors and the action that unfolds on the other side blue screen... Why am I all this ..

In addition to a high-quality monitor (how to choose one, you will soon have a powerful iron review in our best traditions, do not miss it), you also need a file of the appropriate format, bitrate, with the desired codec and other miscellaneous. However, it is far from always clear what kind of video file (with what parameters) is on the computer, especially if there is no decent player that can help with this. And here it is not like FullHD, here do not-understand-what-HD-file, what parameters it has and whether it will be played at all.

So, Format Factory is in a hurry to help us, which can show sufficiently accurate and detailed information about video files, for example: format, duration, used codec, bit rate, number of frames per second, horizontal and vertical frame sizes, etc.

In order to get this information, you need to select the "Advanced" tab in the left pane, the last item in it is "Media-FileInfo", then specify the file that we want to analyze (by clicking the "Select" button), and voila! - in the same second we get a pretty impressive list technical information about the file (see image).

Note:
Technical information about audio files and graphic files is obtained in the same (above) way.

How to glue fins video files
To merge 2 or more video files, go to the "Advanced" tab in the left panel and select " Merge video". After that, in the window that appears, you need to select the final format from the list (1) and add the video files to be glued. Before starting the gluing, you need to make sure that the source video files are arranged in the order in which they should follow in the final video. wrong, you can move them using the "up" and "down" buttons (see image).

Note:
Pay attention to the item "List of files", which allows you to perform various operations with the added video fragments, whether it be: deleting, clearing the list, playing and receiving technical information. You can also combine not only several fragments of video files, but also feed the converter a whole folder with all the digital content located there.

Before merging files, you can view the original fragments and configure some codec parameters (the "Settings" button on the "File list" panel, see the image).

"Use Multi-Threads" - set by ticking the corresponding field;
« High priority"- set in the context menu of the file by clicking the right mouse button and changing the priority to a higher one (see image).

At the end of the process, you should have a kind of hodgepodge of two (or more) video fragments following each other. The process of gluing audio files is similar to that described above, so you can easily master it yourself, but we will probably figure out how to add audio to video.

How to add audio to video
A very useful function that will appeal to novice video editors and not only.

Let's say you recorded a video and want to add a simple background music to it. To do this, select the "Mux" item from the list on the left. Further, in the corresponding fields, you must specify the name of the video file (1): only the video stream will be taken from it (attention!).

In the lower field (2), specify the audio file from which the audio stream will be taken and superimposed on the above video fragment.

Note:
Do not forget to set the desired format of the final file and adjust the required quality (item "Configure" in the Mux tab).

As a result of all the manipulations done (shown in the image), I got a rather funny video, which demonstrates the gameplay of the video game Assassins Сreed 3, where the main character rushes to the sounds of Rammstein :).

How to extract audio from video
I must say right away that there is no direct extraction function as such in Format Factory, but there is an "indirect" one, which also does its job well.

In order to "extract" the sound from the video, you should use the "All in mp3" item (the "Audio" tab). Then specify the video file from which you want to extract the audio track, and start the operation (the "Start" button on the panel). Well .. That's it, in a few seconds you will enjoy a separate audio track, without the "annoying" video :).

How to make GIF animation from video
It couldn't be easier! To do this, use the "All to GIF" conversion to GIF item (the command is located in the "Video" section), and specify the desired video file as the source file (the "File" button). In addition, you can easily configure the parameters of the animation file by clicking on the "Customize" button (see image).

It should be noted the following: the conversion of video to gif animation is fast and the final file is very miniature, of the minuses - the problem with colors (inherent GIF format), lack of audio (after all, this is a graphic format). Therefore, take this into account and use it only for your own tasks.

Note:
Please note that the "All in GIF" command is also present in the "Photos" section, but in the latter case it is intended only for converting images, so there will be no animation.

To implement this, you need to go to the "DVD / CD to ISO / CSO" section, select the name of the disc drive (from which the image will be created) and the desired image format.

Compressing the "ISO<–>CSO "

To do this, go to the "Photo" section, select the final graphic format, select the source files to be converted in bulk, or an entire folder, set additional parameters: rotation, custom size, watermark, and start batch processing (the "Start" button, see . image).

But is this a program? This is not a program, so to speak, this is a start window, here they also want to install such a program as Picosmos Tools, this is a program for processing pictures, well, like graphics editor... But personally, I could not make friends with him, but other users say that the program is very good. In general, I pressed OK, and ... something blinked and that's it .. As if the program started and immediately closed. Maybe a glitch, or maybe not, I don't know .. I then manually launched the program using the Format Factory shortcut on the desktop, after which such a window of the program itself appeared:

Now I will try to find out at least a little ... So what we see here, at the top of the program there are buttons, so to speak, the main ones. Well, there is a button Target folder, this is necessary in order to open the folder where the result of the program will be placed, well, you get the idea. So I pressed this button and it seemed to me such a window:

Well, it's clear that it's empty, I haven't done anything in the program yet. That is, once again, the Target folder button, this is only to open the folder where the result of the program will be and that's it! By the way, and the program with signs of intelligence, in short, it was installed by default on system disk C, but she placed the final folder on disk D, the folder itself is called FFOutput, these are the guys

Then comes the Settings button, well, I think that you already understand, this is where you can configure the program. I pressed this button and then a window like this appeared to me:

Well, there are no words at all! What am I talking about? And the fact that everything here is done so stylishly and so, well, damn it is somehow convenient or something, somehow competently, well, you hope you understand what I mean. The Settings tab was immediately opened in the window, well, that is, the very first tab, here you can change the Target folder folder, well, that is, the folder where the result of the work will be placed, so to speak. You can check the box so that the result is immediately in the source folder. You can also put a checkmark so that the file name is more informative, well, there was a type of video resolution, format written there .. These are the checkboxes, see:

At the bottom of this tab there is also a check mark Check the new version, well, I don’t know about me, but I don’t like the program to go online just to check if there is new version... If you don't like it either, then uncheck this box.

So, now I opened the Font tab, well, what can I say here, here you can change the font, so to speak, choose for yourself, you can also change the color of the font and frame. But what is the frame, I don't really understand, well, in general, these are the settings, see:

Now we go to the Advanced tab, to be honest, I do not know what the options are, and there are very few of them here, so I will skip this tab, I think that nothing needs to be changed here. Well, just in case, I'll show you how it looks, here, look:

So, then comes the Photos tab. So what is it all about, there are some two sliders, and the quality is written there, so what is it? Well, guys, what exactly these sliders are for, I don't quite understand. But I think that the quality of the images is set here when converting. In any case, if anything, there is nothing complicated here, this tab:

As you can see, there are two sliders, namely JPG Quality and WebP Quality. Well, for the second, I can't say anything, but the first, then I know what it is jpeg format, a very popular format, probably the most popular image format. Well, here you set the quality, you already understood that, but how much to ask? I do not know how the quality is set in this program, but in my program, which I use, well, this is also a graphic editor, and so there I have a jpeg quality equal to 80, as for me, this is the ideal ratio of quality and size. So I don’t show the rest of the tabs to you, and not because I don’t want to, no, there just go settings not for the program itself, but for video formats. That is, on the other tabs you can customize the formats to suit your requirements, so to speak, I honestly don’t fumble about this, well, because as I already wrote, I rarely converted anything at all .. A couple of times it was just that, I’m not I remember why I did it .. Look at the settings there, or rather, what formats can be configured:

In order to fumble well in these formats, it is better to play around with the format settings, and so to speak, in practice, understand what is best for you. The trick is that all users have a different concept of quality, for example, I am quite comfortable watching videos on YouTube in 1080 quality, but for some, it’s not at all, because the quality is simply none .. Well, everything, we seem to have figured out the settings, now we go to the program itself. So this is what I still understood here, you have such a part on the left, where the tabs seem to go, here you can choose what exactly you want to do. Well, what can I say here, in general? I am again convinced that the Format Factori program is just super, everything is done clearly, there are no jambs and everything is convenient. Gentlemen, this is a good program. We return to the window, at the bottom of it there is also a checkbox Add name, I put this checkbox:

Well, where the Final folder is, then you can also choose where the result will be saved, so to speak. Well, I don't change anything here, but by the way, when I clicked there, this is the menu that appeared:

There you can delete a file or files, you can clear the list, you can play and you can show information about the file or files. As I understand it, for example, in order to apply some action here to a file or files in the list, you first need to select them, well, in short, you understand

The program interface, buttons, all menus are very convenient. There is no nonsense, but I confess honestly, as soon as I installed the program, I did not immediately understand what was what. But it was very easy to figure it out!
There are a lot of settings in the program, there are not many settings for the program, but if you want to convert something, then in the process you will see that there are many small but useful options.
I don't even know what else to say guys, I haven't tested all the functions of course, but I think that they all work fine there. This program can be included in the list of the best free software, well it seems to me so.

Well, these are my conclusions about this program. And now it's time, guys, to show you how to remove it, well, what if you don't really like it, in life everything happens .. So look, hold it down Win buttons+ R, the Run window will appear, you write the following command there:

Well, today I also checked this, opened the system drive C, where there is a search, well, the field in the upper right corner, then I wrote Format Factory and began to wait. Soon I saw that after the program there was some kind of temporary folder, here it is:

Format Factory is a program for converting images, audio and video recordings. Allows you to choose the appropriate format for iOS and Android devices, and at the same time adjust the file size.
