Ihoo 5.1, of course, not ideal, and has disadvantages of both sound and functionality. Including, there is no remote control in it. But at the same time, the price has grown and the price, although all 5 columns were completely the same, and the quality of the front speakers was still inferior to the IHOO 5.1.

Thus, the version with the same columns as IHOO 5.1, but with the remote control and electronic adjustment of all modes of operation, looks quite logical. It is about such a set and will be discussed in the article. It is called F & D YF-IA. We compare the sound of both sets and see what they differ from each other.

Appearance

The kit is supplied in two packaging boxes. In the first of them, there is quite large sizes, a ten-flame subwoofer, in the other - five columns. The total weight of both boxes is about 23 kilograms.

Speakers

As we talked already at the beginning, all five columns compared to Ihoo remained unchanged. Their sizes are (sh × in × g):

• frontal - 168 × 220 × 300 mm;
• central - 400 × 150 × 140 mm;
• rear - 150 × 150 × 180 mm.

The acoustic design of all five columns is a diagram with a phase inverter. Holes of phase inverters are removed on the rear panel. The thickness of all walls of the center and front speakers is 15 mm, rear - 10 mm. All nodes and connections are neat and tightly tight. Inside the case, no sound brake is observed. The mid-frequency dynamic heads in central and rear speakers are the same, with a capacity of 15 W. The diameter of paper diffusers is 10 cm, the flexible suspension is made of polypropylene. On front speakers are used slightly more powerful broadband speakers - 20 W. The diameter of paper diffusers is 11.5 cm, the flexible suspension here is already made of soft rubber. Twitters used in the center and front are completely the same. Their diffusers, with a diameter of 25 millimeters, are made of plastic and closed with a phase evaporation cap. Connecting speakers in the central and frontal columns parallel, and an electrolytic capacitor with a capacity of 2.2 m F is used as a separation filter.

Since the dynamic heads have magnetic shielding, no filing when working closely with the monitor was not detected. The central and front speakers have rubber legs with a corrugated surface. Subwoofer

But actually rejoice in such a sized subwoofer is too early. Inside the sub-sab is horizontally divided into two non-interconnected cameras of approximately the same sizes. To generate low frequencies in the subwoofer, only the upper chamber is assigned to YF-IA. The volume level here is defined in dB. The most silent value corresponds to -79 dB, loud - 0 dB. Adjusting the volume separately the front, rear, center and saba is possible only from the remote control. Remote control

The remote control is made in the style of "super-slim". It has a rectangular shape and sixmillimeter thickness. Power is carried out from one large three-told "tablet".

Thus, the set makes sense to connect sufficiently high-quality sources of the signal.

The sound of the kit can be described as very good. You can safely talk about a good set of set. It happens that when using a kit of acoustics with small plastic columns and a large pouring subwoofer, a separate sound of speakers and a subwoofer is heard. Here, the subwoofer does not play separately, and, no matter how complements the sound of the lower register, merging with the sound of the remaining columns, while not focusing on yourself. There are no additional resonances in the sound of the subwoofer.

The optimal location of the subwoofer will be such in which the phase inverter is directed directly to the listener. In this case, the sound of the subwoofer becomes more intended and distinct, so it is easy to hear and you can accurately determine the height of the notes performed in the bass parties. I would like to mention a fairly calm and not a skiing character of the sound of the speakers. Even with prolonged listening to music, there is no fatigue than sick some of the speakers. The timbre of sound does not change even at high volume levels. Front columns, being from each other at a distance of 1.5 meters, create a very good stereopanora. If you move them closer (perhaps, some will have to do so due to the size of the table), the uniformity of the sound field is worsening. But this does not mean at all that together with this worsen the quality of the sound. Just for a comfortable listening to music in stereo mode It is preferable not to position the columns too close to each other.

Perhaps the only minus column will be a shortage of transparent high frequencies and a small quantity at the top of the average frequencies. The Ecalizer built into YF-IA does not change anything radically, and when adjusting is trying only adds distortion into the sound.

And now, probably, the most interesting and exciting for all readers and the owners of Ihoo 5.1 is a full-time bet! Comparison of the sound of both kits was carried out according to such a scheme: the same test compositions on two computers were listened, with the alternate disconnection of the audio (with a predetermined volume level). For more accurate comparison, the music signal was removed from professional maps with AKM AK4524 (Waveterminal 2496 and Hointech DSP24 Value).

The results are as follows. As expected, there was no change in the speakers themselves. Actually, it was nowhere to take it: amplifier chips are the same, hulls and dynamic heads - too.

But in the sound of the subwoofers there are some differences. First, at Saba Ihoo 5.1, the volume with equal positions of the regulators is much higher than that of YF-IA. This is due to different acoustic design schemes: a loaded dynamic head and a phase inverter in YF-Ia and a resonant camera in Ihoo 5.1. And as you know, the resonant camera has a much larger efficiency, although inferior in latitude frequency range And the linearity of the frequency response remaining solutions.

As for the timbre of sound, then in our view of Sab Ihoo 5.1 plays a little softer and more fully announces the lowest register, although it does not endure too large volume levels - distortion occurs. Another important point: the sound of the subwoofer Ihoo 5.1 is less susceptible to the location relative to the listener.

The set of active 5.1-acoustics F & D YF-IA is an ideal solution as an inexpensive home theater based on a PC equipped with a DVD drive and a 6-channel audio card (or an inexpensive DVD player with a built-in decoder). YF-Ia is an improved option of a folk pet - IHOO 5.1 set. However, the owners of the latter may not be upset.
