Smartphone 360 Q5 is equipped with 5.5-inch Full HD display (1920 × 1080 pixels) and processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 652, which contains eight cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz (quartets ARM Cortex-A72 and ARM Cortex-A53), the Adreno 510 graphics accelerator, and the X8 LTE cellular modem. Volume random access memory is 4 GB. A flash module eMMC 5.1 with a capacity of 128 GB is used as a drive. Power is provided by a 3200 mAh battery.
The Q5 Plus phablet, in turn, received a 6-inch Full HD screen and a Snapdragon 820 chip that combines four 64-bit Kryo cores with a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz, an Adreno 530 graphics controller and an X12 LTE modem. The amount of RAM can be 4 or 6 GB; the UFS 2.0 drive is designed to store 128 GB of data. A 3700 mAh battery is used.
Both devices received a dual 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. A fingerprint sensor is also located on the back of the case for identifying users by fingerprints. Video telephony and selfie shooting are the tasks of the front camera with a 13-megapixel sensor.
The devices are endowed with a special chip, on the basis of which advanced security tools are implemented, in particular, cryptography. Of course, there are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, as well as a GPS receiver. Mentioned port USB Type-C.
The 360 Q5 smartphone will be offered for $ 300. The Q5 Plus phablet in versions with 4 and 6 GB of RAM will cost $ 390 and $ 420, respectively.
However, time has shown that this technical solution quickly took root, now it is even considered an advantage. LG did not limit itself only to the top-end device, but also released the state-owned Q6 with a display of this format. This enables more people to rate this unusual screen based on their experience. LG Q6 is a very simplified version of the flagship, but it looks tempting nonetheless. We will find out in the review whether the new product offers us something else remarkable, besides the unusual screen.
Packaging and equipment
The device comes to points of sale in a matte black box made of high-quality cardboard. After opening the lid, we see the hero of our review, enclosed in a transport bag. The internal content did not surprise with anything, a typical budget set:

LG Q6 design and materials
Against the background of its "older brother" LG G6, the smartphone under review today looks faded. However, as for the device budget class, the Q6 offers a pretty good look. Of course, there is no place for design delights here, but there are still curious features. What immediately stops the eye is the non-standard-looking front panel. A widescreen display with rounded corners stretches over almost its entire area; by the way, it occupies almost 80 percent of the surface, which is impressive. There is no fashionable 2.5D glass on the front, the manufacturer limited itself to an ordinary flat panel without bends, but the technology here is Gorilla Glass 3. Fans of gluing films and protective glasses will only be glad of this.
The side frame is made of durable metal, while back cover plastic. The back of the device is glossy, but not slippery. It is characterized by excessive soiling and a tendency to scratches. After a few minutes of use, the back cover becomes covered with clearly visible streaks and stains. Interestingly, LG Q6 is comparable in size to 5-inch models. It's a pleasure to use it. Since it is narrow, it fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. Its proportions are 142.5 x 69.3 x 7.9 mm, the weight here is not higher than 163 grams. As far as the color options are concerned, the device is excellent, because such colors as black, gold, blue and white are available.
Above the screen are placed a mesh of the ear speaker, a camera for selfies, sensors, including a face recognition sensor. The lone manufacturer's logo is visible below. Since the lower "beard" of the LG Q6 is very small, there is nowhere to place the touch-sensitive soft-buttons. Therefore, virtual controls are used that can be swapped in the settings. The device is not equipped with a message indicator. The back plane carries the lens of the main camera, single illumination and perforation of the main speaker in the lower part. On the left side there is a volume control and as many as two trays. One serves to accommodate a pair of nanoSIM cards, while the other can only accommodate microSDs up to an incredible 2 TB. The power button is on the right edge. The bottom end is distinguished by the presence of a microUSB port, a microphone and a 3.5 mm output, at the top there is only a hole for noise cancellation.
Screen
Perhaps the only noteworthy feature in this product is the display. Smartphones protruding in one price range with LG Q6, so far they can not offer anything similar. The elongated 5.5-inch Full Vision-screen, working with an IPS matrix, acquired an exotic resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It has already been said above that we are dealing with an 18: 9 or 2: 1 format, whatever you like. The image quality is commendable, inexpensive devices often save on the matrix, but the Koreans did not go this way. The colors are pleasant, the picture looks good even with an intense tilt, the brightness is enough in order not to experience inconvenience in the bright sun. Adaptive backlighting works correctly. Only a minimum of settings for the screen characteristics for yourself is a little upsetting. There is, perhaps, a reading mode, which reduces the load on the eyes. The panel reacts to 10 touches at the same time.
Technical part and performance
The filling of LG Q6 is based on the widespread Snapdragon 435 chip. Nothing bad can be said about this "eight-core" processor, a solid processor, but its power is below average. It is equipped with an Adreno 505 accelerator. It copes well with a low screen resolution, but the new product has a huge pixel density, so you shouldn't count on good performance in resource-intensive games. For example, in the game WOT Blitz, you will have to reduce the graphics component to a minimum, since even at medium settings the device barely produces 20-30 fps. For basic tasks and smooth software operation, the available power reserve is more than enough. In AnTuTu, the device reached 38 thousand points. There are three versions of the smartphone with different memory sizes - the initial Q6a, the middle Q6 and the maximum Q6 +. The first is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM, the second is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM, and the third has memory capacity increased to 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM.
Connectivity and sound quality LG Q6
On board the "Korean" there was a place for Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n. The developers, alas, in the initial version did not indulge us with the NFC module. But in versions Q6 and Q6 + it is present. There is an FM radio equipped with RDS. There are no complaints about GPS and GLONASS, the location is determined instantly. Connecting external drives in the phone is supported. The 4G connection is carried out in the B1, 3, 7 and 20 frequencies.In terms of audio capabilities, the LG Q6 has absolutely nothing to surprise. The call speaker located on the back of the device can be called normal, but no more. The volume is sufficient, and the sound quality is mediocre - the high frequencies rule, and the low ones are practically absent. At maximum, it does not wheeze. The headphones are also nothing special, but the sound is quite decent.
Autonomy LG Q6
A battery is built into the body of the device, it is not removable, its resource does not exceed 3000 mAh. And this applies to all three modifications. Autonomy is good here. LG Q6 can live on a single charge for more than a day if you put it in front of it during the day simple tasks... When you want to play for a long time, be prepared for the fact that the battery will lose up to 20 percent of its power in an hour. The novelty was not provided with fast charging.
Interface
Although this is a budget employee, the program content is quite thoughtful here. The LG UI 5.0 shell is based on the Android 7.1.1 OS from the factory. The exterior of the system has been decently redesigned, and it went to the advantage of the smartphone. The functionality of the firmware and the customization options are just great, the Korean magicians did a great job. The operation of the interface pleases with its smoothness. Poor lighting immediately affects the quality, noises make themselves felt, and the clarity of frames decreases. HDR works by default, but you can turn it off. The flash is bright, but in moderation, the pictures do not overexpose. The phone writes video in Full HD, and the electronic stabilization does its job well. The front camera is endowed with a 100-degree grip. Demonstrates average quality with a 5MP f / 2.2 aperture sensor.

About a month ago, LG Electronics presented a mobile device LG Q6 (version α and simply Q6) on the Russian market. And literally at the beginning of August, the novelty began to be sold in wide retail.
If you look at the technical characteristics of the device, they will seem rather boring and relatively primitive to you. However, the most important feature of LG Q6 is the ratio of the body size to the display matrix. The fact is that the South Korean company decided to take the right, from my point of view, step: to enable potential buyers with a small "wallet" to get the experience of using a huge screen in compact body... Among the A-brands, no one has done this yet, so the Q6 can be considered the world's first smartphone with a FullVision display up to 17,000 rubles.
In general, at the beginning of the text it is worth saying that the developers tried to design the device so as to get into price segment up to 20,000 rubles, but at the same time present an adequate device from all points of view.
For example, back panel made of plastic, it looks primitive, scratches once or twice and wears out. At the same time, the side edge is made of 7000 series aluminum, which is strong and sturdy. It is alleged that soon the Q6 will receive a certificate of the MIL-STD 810G standard - this is the US military standard, which allows you to determine the resistance of equipment to all kinds of influences: drops, twisting, vibration, and so on.
The smartphone was deprived of a fingerprint scanner, although now no modern device is complete without this sensor. Instead of the scanner, face recognition was installed.
Memory is extremely small: 2 GB of RAM, of which about 700 MB are available, and 16 GB of internal memory, where the user is allocated (after installation standard applications) about 2.5 GB. However, LG introduced the Q6 model with 3/32 GB of Flash memory, but for a lot of money. For some reason, we decided to use microUSB instead of USB-C ...
In short, there are many trade-offs to look out for before buying.
Design, dimensions, controls
From a design point of view, there are no unusual design elements or original solutions: this is a typical smartphone, especially if you look at the gadget from the back. Naturally, the Q6 looks a lot like the flagship G6 model.
It has already been said that the back cover is plastic (flat, but goes smoothly to the sides), the frame is metal (sloping), and the screen is protected by third-generation Gorilla Glass. There is an oleophobic coating, the quality is average, prints are erased quickly, the finger glides easily.
There are absolutely no questions about durability and workmanship: a monolithic body, the lid does not push through to the battery, nothing creaks or backlash.
Due to the relatively small width of the gadget (slightly less than 70 mm), the Q6 lies like a glove in the hand: it is very convenient to use with one hand, even despite the elongated screen. The smartphone does not slip in the palm of your hand. That is, from the point of view of design ergonomics in the new product from LG, everything is decent!
On sale LG Q6 is available in three colors: black, gold and silver. To be honest, they are all quite dull, especially the gadget in black. If you were counting on young people, then it was worth considering options in red, green, blue, yellow or orange. However, it is better not to argue about taste and color, he expressed only his subjective point of view.

If you noticed, I didn't say anything about the missed event notification indicator. Alas, he is not here, although almost everything mobile devices LG were equipped with this, in my opinion, an important element. If you think about AlwaysOn, then it is also missing.

Battery
This model uses a 3000 mAh battery. It is not removable. The manufacturer does not provide any data on the operation of the device.
In fact, before testing the smartphone, I was sure that the LG Q6 would be discharged by lunchtime, given the impressive resolution of the matrix and the rather large screen diagonal. It's good that I was wrong: on average, Q6 "lived" until late at night with my usual workload. If the gadget is decently loaded with data transmission (2G - 4G with poor connection quality), music and communication in social networks, then you should expect to work from 9 am to 6 pm. The luminescence time of the screen at maximum brightness was about 3 hours 30 minutes.
The video can be watched for almost 7 hours (maximum brightness of the backlight, FullHD video). The discharge was smooth, I did not notice any sharp jumps.
In general, the operating time did not surprise, but did not leave me indifferent: almost all modern gadgets function exactly the same amount (Huawei Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus, Huawei P10, Honor 9 and others) - until the evening with the screen glowing for 3-4 hours (if you take devices with a 5000 mAh battery).
Communication capabilities
The LG Q6α device "understands" 2G (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) / 3G (HSPA + B1, B2, B5, B8) / 4G (B1, B3, B7, B20, CA, VoLTE). There are two slots for nanoSIM cards and a separate card slot microSD memory, which is rare today.
Standard items are available: Wi-Fi b / g / n without DLNA and Miracast, Bluetooth version 4.2, USB 2.0 with OTG support.
Also included are GPS / GLONASS / BeiDou. The sensitivity is excellent, the device sees up to 25 satellites in a few seconds. , / 
Memory and memory card
In this section, I do not have the most best news... The LG Q6α only uses 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Moreover, of 2 GB of RAM, 700 MB is available on average without applications, and of 16 GB of Flash - about 4 GB (after installing the minimum number of programs, about 2.5 GB remains). One way or another, you will have to buy a card for at least another 16 GB.
Despite the small amount of RAM in the device, I did not feel a lack of memory. With standard set Q6 applications behaves well. Of course, if you do not open a couple of games and dozens of applications.
Cameras
The LG Q6α is not positioned as a photo flagship, so there will be minimal claims against it. The main module is supplied by Sony - IMX258 - 1/3 "sensor size, 1.12 nm pixel size, aperture f = 2.2; front - SuperPix SP5506 5 MP, wide angle, 1/5" sensor size, 1.12 nm pixel size, aperture f = 2.2.
The quality was surprisingly pleasing to me: natural colors, accurate white balance, good sharpness, good dynamic range. The focusing speed is average, the accuracy is excellent. In the evening and at night, naturally, the quality decreases, the picture becomes blurry.
The front camera is wide-angle and you get used to it quickly. The quality of the LG Q6 selfie camera pleasantly surprised me. I even made some home shots on her, since from a short distance everything fits into the frame.
There is an exposure adjustment both by tap and by a slider (in photo and video modes).
In general, I can give credit for the modules!
The downside is the lack of manual settings.
Video shoots typical for any similar device - FullHD 30 fps. The focus is very slow but accurate. The sound is mono, clear.
Selfie videos are also FullHD. The quality is good, the frame is wide-angle (you can switch to normal - a simple crop of the picture).

Performance and OS
LG's smartphone was equipped with not the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 (MSM8940) chipset: 64 bit, 8 Cortex-A53 cores, 28 nm, maximum frequency 1.4 GHz. Responsible for the graphics Qualcomm Adreno 505.
The device behaves quite decently, despite the high screen resolution. No glitches or brakes were noticed. The only nuance that most likely relates to the UI is the strange drawing of the interface: after unlocking the main screen appears and a second later - the line with the menu "Back" / "Home" / "Menu". Almost always, after clicking on the Home button, the interface appears slowly. The same situation was with some other LG gadgets such as G4, View ...
The specifications are not specified, but at the presentation I was told that the LG Q6 has an additional graphics engine, which is located far from the processor and is equipped with a simple heatsink (a copper plate with a heat pipe).
Under load, the case hardly heats up, but when the battery is charged, the heat is felt.
I would like to reiterate that LG Q6α copes with all the tasks set well.

On the other hand, a fresh Google Android version 7.1.1 is used as a system. As a custom shell - proprietary UI.
As regards face unlocking, the function works well, but the recognition speed is not the highest, about 1 second. It functions in all cases, except for complete darkness.
Multimedia
The loudspeaker gives out an average volume, the quality is good, no complaints.
Sound in headphones for an amateur: not very expressive, weak bass and high frequencies. The volume is high.
In the presence of FM-radio, works only with headphones.
Conclusion
As a result, we have a simple in terms of technical characteristics the device, the cost of which should not exceed 10,000 rubles (taking into account the brand). However, it should be borne in mind that LG used a screen with minimal bezels, like the flagship model, and a high resolution in the Q6α. Apparently, this technology took a lot of resources, since the company had to abandon both the fingerprint scanner and the notification indicator, more memory for the same money and so on.
It seems to me that the most the best option will wait for the Q6 model without the α prefix. It already has 3/32 GB of RAM and has NFC. I don't know how much it will cost, most likely 3,000 - 5,000 rubles more.
The Q6α model should be taken if you do not know why you need NFC, and are not going to "drive" the device to its fullest, but you really want to big screen in a small case. I used the Q6α as the main device for almost 3 weeks and did not feel any discomfort: it performs all typical tasks perfectly, and the FullVision display leaves only pleasant impressions.
LG Q6α price at this moment is 17,000 rubles.
Smartphone LG Q6a produced good impression in terms of performance and design. In addition, he showed excellent autonomy, which is a rarity in a coupe with a Full-HD screen. However, the device has a slightly curtailed equipment and, as the test showed, not the most installed best cameras... At the same time, it should be borne in mind that this model belongs to the budget segment and you should probably not expect flagship capabilities from it.

LG, having released a very good flagship model LG G6 both in terms of innovative Full-Vision screen and in equipment, decided to experiment and offer fans of the brand a very similar outwardly line of inexpensive models. About her announcement we. Then the company announced that it was going to Russian market two models - Q6 and Q6a, which differ in the amount of operational and built-in flash drive.
By the will of fate, the younger brother of the line - Q6a in black color - got to the CHIP editorial office. In Russia, this model can now be bought for about 13,000 rubles, which is very inexpensive, however, and it is equipped quite modestly. It should be noted that this device immediately made a good impression on our veteran testers who have seen dozens of flagship smartphones, and this can be considered a good sign.
LG engineers tried to make the smartphone pleasant in all respects, however, they were probably given the task not to cross the path of the head of the family (LG G6), and they tried to solve it “perfectly”.
Equipment: alignment with the younger ones
Our sample LG Q6a has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in flash drive on board, of which 740 MB and 8 GB are initially available to the user, respectively. The heart of the model is an eight-core Snapdragon processor 435 clocked at 1.4 GHz. This is a very modest set of components that most smartphones from well-known Chinese brands are equipped with today.
However, in the case of our hero of the test, not everything is so simple. The main highlight of the Q6a is the 5.5-inch Full Vision screen with a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels (for some reason the benchmark shows 2004x1080).
The good size, comparable to the width of the 4.7 "models, is slightly elongated in height, providing a comfortable one-handed grip and the popular diagonal figure (although, of course, these are not the" correct "5.5 inches). At the same time, narrow bezels at the top and bottom with rounded corners really create a pleasant impression of “rational” use of the screen's visual space.
The display itself is very clear and has a good color rendering, close to ideal. Our testers, owners of devices from Samsung and iPhone, noted the white color with a slight blue tint and advised to add yellowness in the settings (there is such a function in the shell settings). However, in our opinion, pure white is better than a yellowish or greenish tint.
Another important pleasant factor is the heavy monolithic body (although the weight is quite small - 146 g), made of durable A7000 aluminum.
Duration of work
The LG Q6a has a non-removable 3000 mAh battery, which is quite capacious for this class of smartphones. Under an average load: 30 minutes of talking, 1.5 hours of surfing, 1 hour of listening to music and 2 hours of watching videos, the battery lasts for 2 full days, which is very good result given more than a Full HD screen with 70% backlight brightness.
The Antetu tester benchmark also confirmed the excellent battery performance, showing 11,421 points, which is almost three times higher than the Nexus 5. Conveniently, in the battery settings, you can set the percentage of charge displayed in the tray. In addition, there is a function to enable power saving mode.
The smartphone charges from 5 to 100% in less than 2 hours - pretty fast given the decent battery capacity. By the way, the model is equipped with a standard microUSB port, which is great considering the widespread prevalence of cables with such a plug.
Note that during charging, the entire body and even the screen do not get very hot - up to 37 degrees.
Performance and management
As we have already mentioned, the LG device is very balanced and nimble. In the interface and when launching programs, we did not observe the slightest lags, even with open capacious applications such as Google maps, Chrome browser and Google Photos.
Now about the results of synthetic tests. As shown by the popular benchmark Antutu Benchmark v.6.27, the overall result for this model is 36050 points. At the same time, the eight-core CPU earned 11512 points, and the RAM - 4561 points. The graphics system built on the Adreno 505 scored 7897 points.
Another benchmark GeekBench v.4.1.3 showed an overall result of 1544 points, while in the single-core test the smartphone scored 530 points, and in the multi-core - 2007, which is approximately equal to the performance of the Nexus 5X.
Camera and image quality
As the main camera, a module with a 13 megapixel sensor manufactured by LG with a conventional LED flash is integrated here. The front camera is presented with a 5 megapixel sensor, moreover, it is possible to switch between normal and wide-angle modes (viewing angle 100 degrees).
Test shots showed that the main camera can produce quite detailed shots in clear and cloudy weather. However, indoors, even in good lighting conditions, the sharpness drops somewhat - in a group shot, small details cannot be made out with magnification. When shooting with difficult lighting, the main camera often had errors in setting the white balance.
At the same time, we really liked the work of the optical image stabilizer and the ability to zoom the frame up to 6x without much loss in image quality. Also, I would like to note the relatively high-quality optics that give out a picture without distortion, although the clarity could be higher.
The camera settings were a little disappointing, including the lack of the ability to manually set the white balance (this feature is even available in inexpensive Chinese models). Also, with the declared 13 megapixels, if you set the frame size to 16: 9, the image resolution is immediately reduced to 9.7 megapixels. From the available modes, the manufacturer has left only "Auto", "Panorama" and "Shooting food".
But for fans of social networks and Instagram there is a special type of shooting "Square". It allows you to photograph at once with this aspect ratio or to combine two square images vertically.
As for the front camera, here the manufacturer clearly did not finalize it - the pictures are obtained both in the usual and in the wide-angle mode, not sufficiently detailed.
