Samsung Pay in Belarus - instructions for use. Tested on myself. Settlements using Samsung Pay in Belarus and Russia Does samsung pay work in Belarus

However, simple consent for using Samsung Pay was not enough. The system did not work for everyone, it required configuration and preparation. Let's figure out what it is Samsung Pay, what it serves and what it promises.

Samsung Pay, what is it?

This is a system of payments by means of a card account using instead of a card mobile device Samsung. The already configured Samsung Pay system is quite simple, but in order to get the job done and not be afraid of a catch, it is worth examining some theoretical questions.

How can a phone replace a bank card?

If the information contained on the card is written into a mobile device, then devices that read the card can also read the phone.

Samsung Pei's work with payment terminals is provided by two technologies:

  • Near field communication (NFC) - data transmission over a very short distance, acts like bluetooth, but in the "near field". Received by specially equipped new terminals.
  • Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) - secure transmission magnetic field... Works with terminals that accept magnetic stripe cards (there are many of them).

Then the payment data is transferred to the bank, verified and becomes the basis for the transfer of money.

Samsung Pay is a program installed on your phone that uses your bank card information for money transactions. However, other phone systems and Samsung do not receive information to access the card account money.

How do I connect Samsung Pay?

To do this, you only need to consistently and accurately perform some operations.

  1. Update the operating system (firmware) of the device to latest version.
  2. Create or log into an existing Samsung account.
  3. Find in Google play Samsung Pay program.

This is where Samsung mobile device owners may have a problem - Samsung Pay will not appear in search results. There are 3 reasons for this:

  • the mobile device is not suitable for working with Samsung Pei;
  • on the smartphone (tablet) is installed not original operating system(firmware);
  • the operating system is intended for another country (may affect all unofficially imported devices).
  1. Install Samsung Pay on your mobile device.

Installation is automatic, you just need to agree to the terms and give permissions.

  1. Launch the Samsung Pei program. Start configuring the program.

An obligatory setting element is defining the method of identification in the system. This can be a fingerprint login, a PIN code, or in some devices, an iris scan.

  1. Add payment cards to the program.

At this stage, Samsung Pay can accept up to 10 cards at a time. There are two ways to add a map:

  • scan (photograph) the map in the program;
  • or enter card details manually.

The process of adding a card will take a few minutes, while the system contacts the bank, passes the necessary checks and confirmations.

  1. Accept user agreement.
  2. Receive an SMS message from the bank. Enter the code you received and send. Sign if necessary.
  3. Wait for a response and complete registration.

How does Samsung Pay work?

Samsung Pay in Belarus and other countries works according to the same principles, but with its own peculiarities and permissions. In each country, Samsung Pei accepts certain cards from banks cooperating with the system and does not accept others. We will talk about this below, but for now we will describe the general payment algorithm with Samsung Pay.

  1. We open Samsung app Pay.
  2. Choosing a card for payment.
  3. We log in with a fingerprint or PIN.
  4. We keep the phone near the terminal until the operation is confirmed.
  5. We enter the PIN-code of the card or sign, if required by the techniques and rules of the seller.
  6. We finish the operation. We take the check.

An important practical point - if the payment goes not through NFC, but with the help of MST, then you need to put the phone to the terminal closer to the place where the card is held with a magnetic stripe.

You do not need to turn on the Internet to work with Samsung Pay. However, banks, for the sake of security, may require periodic access of the mobile device to the network. You don't need to pay for using Samsun Pei either.

There are no special restrictions on working with the system. The difficulty in paying for Samsung Pay may be that the merchant does not know how to accept the payment.

Another limitation is that not all mobile devices, not all terminals, not all cards of not all banks are suitable for the operation of Samsung Pei.

This requires special consideration.

Which devices support Samsung Pay?

To use Samsung Pei, you need to match 4 mandatory points:

  • the device must support Samsung Pay;
  • the bank must work with Samsung Pay;
  • the card of this bank must match Samsung Pay;
  • the payment terminal must be equipped with NFC or MST.

The last item on the list will have to be checked with the seller, and the first three can be inquired in advance.

This is due to the fact that Samsung has combined two technologies in its service:

– – wireless transmission small radius information,

- MST - electromagnetic transmission.

As you understand, this union makes the device available for payment in almost all terminals, and not only within Belarus, of course. Therefore, if the seller at the checkout says that this is the first time he hears about such a service, then there is a chance that he simply may not be aware modern opportunities payment by phone. So be persistent.

Look at the service availability map, it turns out that Belarusians are far from the last who connected to the system. Hooray.

The service is free. You do not pay for registration in the application, for connecting or removing cards. There is no commission and interest on payments either, as well as a subscription fee. Use it for your pleasure.

7. Payment Samsung Pay - do you need internet?

Not needed at the time of calculation. But the Internet will be required when you first add a card to the system and when you decide to update the history of operations.

But it's not in vain that we put this issue out in a separate block. For example, according to the policy of VTB Bank, the client is allowed to make 10 payments without access to the Internet, and after this threshold, you still need to connect to the network.

8. How secure is a phone payment in a store?

Here the answer is yes. How does Samsung Pay work? Everything goes through Samsung KNOX - built-in security system that makes sure everything is in order.

Payment execution is based on the work of tokens - hidden one-time codes. They are the ones that are exchanged between the mobile device (or watch) and the terminal. This is a digital version of the card, it contains information about the plastic, its owner and the payment network. All that can be seen is the last digits of the plastic number and the name. Look and do not look, you will not understand much anyway. Even if the token is intercepted, it will not be useful because it is temporary. The path to your account is also closed for Samsung, so your property remains yours.

And if the device is stolen, then the cards will still be protected: for payment, you need to confirm the user (through a fingerprint, pin code or iris scan).

9. What other mobile payment platforms are there?

What else can a Belarusian use? It should be mentioned here Android Pay and Apple Pay... Currently, only Apple Pay works (this is just one product - an ecard). , we have already written in detail. But Android Pay hasn't started working in Belarus yet. By the way, this system was renamed at the beginning of the year, now it is called Google Pay.

We come to the conclusion that against the background of these competitors, the product Samsung looks quite confident and relaxed. As the developers assure, working in the service is simple, convenient and safe. Do you want to check it out already?

If you still have questions about the service, we hope they will disappear after watching this video:

The technology is implemented mainly in top smartphones, as well as the watches of the Korean company. At the same time, the service works only with officially imported Samsung smartphones with the corresponding regional affiliation, that is, with regional binding to Russia and Belarus, as well as to cards of local banks. The service will not work with smartphones purchased abroad.

"Regional affiliation is one of the pillars of Samsung Pay's security,"- explained the representative of the company.

“If a smartphone supporting Samsung Pay is purchased through official sellers in Belarus, and a Belarusian bank card is registered to the system, then there will be no problems with payments abroad - where Mastercard cards are accepted”,- said Golub.
