The new gorgeous iPad Pro is out! Incredible performance with the A10X Fusion processor

Update: Official date launch iPad Pro 2018 - Oct 30, per Apple Press Invitation "Special Event". In addition, there is growing evidence that new tablet will get a USB-C port, and we've got some interesting sizing ideas.

iPad Pro 3 is another big Apple update and now the company has practically confirmed that we will see the tablet on October 30th by sending out invitations to the event on that date.

The new iPad Pro should showcase thin-bezel screens in two sizes, and leaks also suggest it will use iPhone X True Depth technology for Face ID.

Of course, at the beginning of the year we saw a new entry level with solutions focused on the educational segment, but if you are looking for a more powerful tablet to replace the current one, or you will soon get one.

Apple intends to make the iPad Pro series a "laptop replacement" for as many users as possible, treating its Pro series tablets as if they were touchscreen MacBooks. With iOS 11 (and now iOS 12) and tablet-focused software, Apple is getting closer to that vision.

Regardless of the name, be it the 2018 iPad Pro or iPad Pro 3, the new tablet will almost certainly remain expensive and still not a laptop replacement for absolutely everyone, no matter how hard Apple tries to convince us of it.

Will the new iPad Pro be? It seems like this could be an interesting change in concept. Here are the details we've gathered over this time of leaks, rumors, and speculation. We've also made the next best guess on price, release date and various specs / features.

In pursuit!

  • What's this? Next flagship tablet iPad;
  • When to expect? Tuesday, October 30th, 5:00 pm ET
  • How much is? Probably at least $ 649 (RUB 39,000);

| IpadPRO 3 (2018): RELEASE DATE AND PRICES

The iPad Pro 3 launches on October 30, as Apple has already sent invitations to a special event under that date.

This is not surprising, since we expected the tablet to be released soon, not least because the new iPad Pro was listed on the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission), which indicates an imminent release of the device.

We don't yet know when the tablet will start shipping, but whenever an iPad Pro tablet comes out, it comes with a hefty price tag. The iPad Pro 10.5 (the last in the series) started at $ 649, so we believe Apple will stick to similar pricing with the 9.7-inch models, the cheapest in the series.

| IpadPRO 3: DESIGN

  • Tiny panels around the screen
  • No Home button and headphone port;
  • The thinnest tablet everApple;

One of the most recent leaks on the 2018 iPad Pro comes from a source that has provided accurate data about Apple in the past, and now claims that the upcoming tablet will be only 5.9 mm thick, but the headphone port will be removed.

In addition, we have currently seen a render allegedly showing the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3, which you can see below.

Details include thin bezels and no home button or fingerprint reader, so Face ID will be included. But the bezels in the render are still quite large to eliminate the need for a notch.

We still get a metal back panel, four speaker grilles and one camera on the back, but a few things have changed - the Smart Connector has moved to the bottom (when the tablet is in portrait mode), there seems to be no more 3.5mm jack for headphones (which is in line with rumors), and there is an unidentified button on the right edge.

The source adds that the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is likely to arrive at 280.6 x 215 x 5.8mm (or 7.77mm given the rear camera bump), making it smaller than the iPad Pro 12.9 (2017). The thickness is also in line with scattered rumors, which is why we're really looking forward to a very thin tablet.

We got the same numbers again from another source who added that the iPad Pro 10.5 (2018) will measure 247.64 x 178.5mm, making the new tablet smaller than its predecessor.

Another render has emerged, this time showing the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) in a case from UAG, you can see it below.

The details - including the thin bezels and the Face ID sensor - are the same as above. However, the fact that the tablet is in a case suggests it may come out very soon, as the case maker probably won't release a product or render until the device is ready.

| IpadPRO 3 (2018): DISPLAY

  • 12.9 and 10.5 inch models;
  • The 10.5-inch model can be replaced by the 11-inch model;

While the iPhone range is now highly classified, the 2018 iPad Pro continues to be bombarded with edge-to-edge screen leaks.

Again, it's still possible that Apple will fit a notch to the tablet display, especially since iOS 12 moves part of the status bar to the left edge, leaving white space in the middle.

If Apple goes for an edge-to-edge screen design, the new iPads will be able to expand the display area, or keep screen sizes to reduce the size of the case. This will come as a surprise to the sometimes bulky iPad Pro 12.9, and based on the information we've heard so far, shrinking the 12.9-inch tablet is exactly what Apple did.

For the smaller 10.5-inch iPad, on the other hand, new design could mean a slight increase in size as we saw a report claiming it will receive an 11-inch display.

However, since Apple has just unveiled a new size with a 10.5-inch model, we're not sure about further changes. We also expect the iPad Pro 3 to have a 120Hz True Tone display, just like its predecessor.

| IpadPRO 3: CAMERA AND BATTERY

  • Front-cameraTrueDepth;
  • Better bokeh effect;

We don't expect big changes in the camera department. Apple continues to stick with the 12MP and 7MP combo on the rear and front, respectively, adopting iPhone sensors 8, which is a serious overkill for a tablet, so it should continue to serve with dignity for at least one more year.

That said, if the rumors regarding Face ID are correct, the tablet is likely to get a front-facing camera with True Depth, much more like iPhone camera XS. It's still a 7-megapixel sensor, but with some extra depth-sensing skills making it a great solution for portrait mode (background blur).

There is no news regarding the iPad Pro (2018) battery yet, but we will definitely include them in the article as soon as we know anything.

| IpadPRO 3: OS AND PERFORMANCE

  • Tablet ChipsetA12Bionic;
  • Operating system -iOS 12;

A supply chain source claims the iPad Pro 3 will use the new A11X Bionic chipset with an 8-core processor. Considering that iPhone smartphones XS is now powered by A12 Bionic chipsets, it seems unlikely.

Most likely, the 2018 iPad Pro will use either the A12 Bionic, or something newer and better, a chipset that hasn't been announced yet - perhaps the A12X Bionic or A13.

Of course, the iPad Pro 3 is also bound to roll out iOS 12, which is available now. It will bring gesture control to the tablet, as well as Siri shortcuts, group notifications, improvements to the augmented reality department, and more.

| IpadPRO 3: OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • FaceID;
  • Four speakers;
  • USB-C;

You probably won't have to hear Apple officially calling the upcoming tablet "Modern iPad", but that name was found in the iOS 11.3 code.

"Modern iPad" doesn't sound like much, but the phrase "Modern iPhone" was used before the iPhone X was released. The speculation is that the term could bode well for unusual innovations such as Face ID and the lack of bezels around the display.

Indeed, the idea that the new 2018 iPad Pro will allow users to unlock the device simply by looking at the tablet without using their hands is a rumor we've heard on numerous occasions.

In fact, the tablet's Face ID setup interface was found in the iOS 12 beta for iPad. In the same beta, we also found Face ID multiplayer support, a feature that will be much more useful on a tablet than on a phone.

We've also heard that Face ID on iPad will use the same image signal processor as the iPhone XS and will work in portrait and landscape modes.

The same source claims the iPad Pro 3 will be able to output 4K HDR to an external display using USB-C ports which is also rumored to be included in the tablet.

In addition, the 2018 iPad Pro is likely to get a new version of the magnetic connector for connecting accessories such as Apple's new Smart Keyboard.

And a new version Apple Pencil is likely to land alongside the iPad Pro 3.

Other existing features such as the four speakers and the Smart Connector (each found in the leaked images) are making a comeback.

| WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE?

Excellent since the current iPad models Pros remain very expensive, although they lack some key functions or the characteristics of competitors. With that in mind, here's a list of the things we're most looking forward to from the iPad Pro 3.

WATER RESISTANCE

Apple has added water protection to its smartphones, but the option has not yet touched the company's tablets and although it is less needed for tablets that are too large to fall into a mug and you won't use them in the rain.

But drinks are still spilling, people continue to use tablets while cooking or in the pool, so knowing the iPad Pro 3 can survive water would be reassuring, especially given its price tag.

PRODUCTIVITY INCREASE

Apple has consistently ramped up the performance potential of the iPad Pro, but in most cases it still can't match a laptop.

iOS just isn't a versatile enough solution even with, and accessories like the Smart Keyboard tend to be overpriced, resulting in a mediocre experience. much better suited for the job.

Moreover, lowering the price of accessories could help the tablet, along with further changes in iOS, which should be brought closer to the desktop. operating system... Full software being able to offer desktop quality, for example with Photoshop, would also help. To some extent, this is beyond Apple's power, but the company may enter into a deal with the developers or simply make the platform more attractive to them.

PRICE DROP?

The iPad Pro is an expensive tablet, no matter what size you choose. Considering the amount of technology packaged, the value for money is not the worst, but it can be difficult to justify the cost, especially when there are cheaper tablets as well, given that it is not. full replacement laptop.

As such, we would like to see a price cut with the new iPad Pro 3, or at least (and most likely) the same prices, along with more memory and new features.

SHARP OLED DISPLAY

The 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 has a 265ppi screen, which is pretty good, while overall quality screen high.

But screens are sharper on tablets, laptops and phones, so we'd love to see Apple raise the resolution, especially as the iPad promises to be a prime candidate for 4K content.

And along with the new resolution, we would like to see new technology display, namely OLED. Apple has already used OLED panels for the iPhone X, so it's possible the iPad Pro 3 could benefit.

FACE SCAN

Apple debuted Face ID on the iPhone X, allowing you to simply glance at the phone to unlock it. This means that there is no longer a Home button, therefore, there is an opportunity for the screen to grow in the same case size. All this useful functions which we would like to see with the iPad Pro 3.

BEST OFFLINE TIME

IPad Pro 2 tablets don't suffer from bad times autonomous work while you are using it primarily as a media device, but if you plan on using it as a laptop, counting on anything more than 6-7 hours is unnecessary.

That's still fine, but an extra two hours would really help, so whether it's a bigger battery or more efficient components and software, we'd like Apple to add battery life. iPad work Pro 3.

NEW DESIGN

The iPad Pro has a thin, light and stylish design, but it is more of the same design as Apple's tablets in recent years, so we would like a complete overhaul of the iPad Pro 3. Something new and exciting that can seduce older users and craves updates.

It could be a glass back, a huge screen, no bezels, or something new at all. But if there is one thing that Apple is well versed in, it is in design, we believe that it all depends on the task at hand.

Oktyabrskaya Apple presentation finally took place. Confess, a large number we did not see any new products. The brightest spot of the "event" was the release of the new iPad Pro 2018 models, which simply conquered everyone with their design. An overview of the tablets is further under the cut with a detailed discussion of the distinctive features.

IPad Pro 2018 review

In short, the updated iPad line has received fresh design that clearly reminds us of the 2018 iPhone. Plus some improvements under the hood. The result is the perfect balance between performance and portability.

Design

After the new ones were presented with an edge-to-edge screen, Cupertino decided to implement a similar idea on the iPad. Thus, instead of a 10.5-inch iPad, it turned out to be an 11-inch one due to a thinner bezel around the perimeter. And the 12.9-inch iPad retained its screen size, but slightly decreased in body dimensions, which made it a little lighter (by 25 percent). Both models are the same 5.9mm thin, making them the thinnest iPads ever.

As for the display, both models have LCD panels with curved corners, and it hasn't come to OLED yet. Apple calls them Liquid Retina displays- exactly the same display on the iPhone Xr. The manufacturer assures us that this is the brightest and most saturated display in an iPad.

Since there is now a very thin bezel around the perimeter, there is no room for the HOME button at all. Accordingly, Touch ID technology is not provided here. And, you guessed it, new iPad versions The Pros get Face ID from the iPhone X last year. Data protection is now implemented by scanning your face. And it doesn't matter how you hold the tablet - vertically or horizontally. Face ID works in any position.

A few words about the case. It is not glass. And this will please many, since the glass in the hand is sometimes very uncomfortable due to sliding. The case is aluminum, which means technology wireless charging not implemented. An important detail is the presence of 102 tiny magnets inside the case, which help to combine accessories with the tablet, for example, the Smart Keyboard and new apple Pencil.

ON

The new iPad Pros come with the new iOS 12 platform by default. Since the HOME button is now gone, a new brutal control has been implemented. A swipe from the bottom will provide access to the App Dock, keep scrolling and you will be taken to the multitasking interface. Swipe down from the top right and you get Control Center. Pulling down from the top or middle top left will drop the action center. Of course, the new iPads have Split View and Slide Over modes that allow you to work side-by-side with multiple applications at once.

CPU

Inside the tablets is an updated chip - Apple A12X Bionic (four performance cores and four efficiency cores). As part of a demonstration of its power Apple showed a working full-scale version at the presentation Adobe photoshop optimized for touch interface. The app will be available to users in 2019. There is also a seven-core graphics processor that provides twice the graphics performance.

The Lightning port on the bottom of the tablet has now been replaced with USB Type-C... This gives free rein to the use of new accessories. Apple assured that with via USB Type-C can be connected external monitors and connect to professional equipment such as cameras. Also, using this port, users will be able to charge their iPhone from the iPad, transfer data between devices.

The battery life is about 10 hours.

Memory

There will be several options for users to choose from in terms of the amount of internal storage: 64 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. The latter option is very impressive, but you need to understand that it will cost a pretty penny.

Camera

Cameras were almost forgotten. Usually we talk about them more as part of the review of the phone. But they are also in demand on tablets. So, the two new iPads 2018 received a 12 MP main camera with an F1.8 aperture. Don't jump to the conclusion that we saw the same thing on the 2017 iPad. New models received Smart HDR mode. Front-facing TrueDepth camera with portrait mode, there is support for Animoji and Memoji on iPad.

Apple Pencil

The stylus for iPad has also been updated. But the new Apple version The Pencil will be compatible exclusively with the 2018 iPad Pro. It magnetically connects the "pencil" to the tablet and also charges. No more wires. If you remember old version Apple Pencil charged through a Lightning connection. Since newer versions of tablets do not have this port, the old Apple Pencil will not work with the new tablet. It will also be easy and comfortable now to use the keyboard, which will magnetically connect to the tablet.

Price and release date

Large tablet Apple is waiting for an update.

Update: The 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 could go into production, which could mean we'll only see it in April. Read on to find out everything we know about the new iPad Pro 2.

Apple launched its most in September last year. came with a huge 12.9-inch screen, Apple Pencil support, and powerful processor, it was a significant change in the iPad series.

We appreciated the tablet at its true worth, giving it 9 points in our full review praising the tablet for its impressive front-facing speakers and large display among other features.

In fact, we've heard talk about exactly how the Apple Pencil will change from new version tablet, it is said that it will receive a magnet so you can attach the stylus to the tablet.

Alternatively, you could look at the iPhone 7 for other likely features, including a pressure-sensitive Home button that vibrates instead of physically clicking, and does different things depending on how hard you press the button. ...

iPad Pro 2018 is expensive but cool.

On October 30, 2018, Apple officially unveiled the 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018, which became the most powerfully updated Apple tablets for all the time. New items received record-breaking thin cases, minimum bezels around the display perimeter, support for Face ID, super-fast A12X Bionic processor, maximum memory of 1 TB and many other features. We talked about the new iPad Pro 2018 in full detail.

The 11-inch iPad Pro is a direct successor to last year's 10.5-inch iPad Pro, in which Apple drastically reduced the side bezels for the first time. The tablets are almost identical in size, but with even thinner bezels around the display, the 11-inch iPad Pro 2018 has a larger screen. Display resolution new iPad The Pro is 2388x1688 pixels.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro, on the other hand, retains the same display size as its predecessors, but at the same time has become noticeably more compact. The display resolution of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 is 2732-by-2048 pixels. Both tablets have a Liquid Retina display, the same type as the iPhone XR. Apple calls this display the most technologically advanced LCD in a mobile device.

Dimensions 11-inch iPad Pro 2018 - 247.6 × 178.5 × 5.9 mm, weight - 468 g. Dimensions 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 - 280.6 × 214.9 × 5.9 mm, weight - 631 g. Both tablets have a record low thickness, which should have a positive impact on usability.

The new iPad Pros have lost not only the thick bottom bezel of the display, but also the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which in previous models built-in under the button. Losing Touch ID will not affect the security of iPad Pro 2018 because the tablets support Face ID. It is realized thanks to the TrueDepth camera system, which is located in a rather unusual way - on the side frame. Crucially, Face ID on the new iPad Pro works in both landscape and portrait orientations.

At the heart of the new iPad Pro 2018 is the system on the super-fast eight-core A12X Bionic processor. It is the most powerful mobile chip Apple has ever built. Even the flagships iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are equipped with a less fast processor - A12 Bionic, without the "X" prefix. The difference between the chips is impressive - over 35% in pure performance.

The new 2018 iPad Pro has storage capacities of 64GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1024GB. Apple first created a tablet maximum capacity memory of which is equal to 1 TB. True, it should be noted right away that the cost of tablet versions with 1 TB of memory is much higher than that of other models.

The 11-inch iPad Pro has 29.37 Wh, the 12.9-inch has 36.71 Wh. Both tablets work the standard 10 hours of surfing the Internet over Wi-Fi or watching videos. At the same time, both tablets support fast charging and comes with a powerful 18W charging adapter. You don't have to buy any accessories.

There is another important point to note here. iPad feature Pro 2018 - USB-C connector. Apple for the first time ditched the Lightning connector in tablets and moved them to more universal USB-C... Due to this, you can connect, for example, a monitor with a 5K resolution to the iPad Pro 2018! Or right at iPad help Pro can charge iPhone.

The main iPad camera Pro 2018 has a resolution of 12 megapixels and an aperture of f / 1.8. The camera allows you to capture extremely high-quality photos, including the Smart HDR mode, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. The camera in the new iPad Pro sticks out of the body only slightly, and this is provided that the body of the tablet has become noticeably thinner.

The system is installed in the tablets front cameras TrueDepth with a resolution of the main module of 7 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.2. The front camera also supports Smart HDR mode.

Special attention in the new iPad Pro 2018 is paid to sound. The tablets have four stereo speakers and five microphones for calls, video and audio recording.

IPad Pro 2018 release date

In 2018, Apple will traditionally update its line of tablets. And already now, some analysts have begun to make predictions about the upcoming changes. Ming Shi Kuo, an expert who has repeatedly proved to be right in his predictions and conclusions, told the public about the future generation of iPad Pro 2018.

IPad Pro models, which will be presented by the American manufacturer in 2018, will receive new camera TrueDepth and will also support Face ID technology. Apple integrates into new iPads Pro camera TrueDepth in order to present user interface compatible with and improve competitiveness.

Camera TrueDepth will only have flagship model iPad Pro. As for, the expert believes that the face recognition function will also be in demand on the iPad and will interest software developers.

Kuo also believes that Android developers will begin to research facial recognition technology in order to later abandon the fingerprint scanner in its favor. On the this moment Apple has a big advantage over its competitors.

Release of the new iPad Pro

As for the release date of the new iPad Pro 2018, it is, of course, still unknown. Recall that the last time Apple demonstrated updated line iPad in June 2017, unveiling a new 10.5-inch model with thinner bezels around the edges.
