The best USB flash drives 3 0. Which USB flash drives are the most reliable and fast? Optimal volume of flash drive

A variety of USB flash drives today is just a huge. Gradually increases the share of drives with USB 3.0 interface, and the most demanded capacity of flash drives is 32 and 64 GB. In order for readers to make an idea of the high-speed characteristics of modern flash drives with the USB 3.0 interface, we conducted comparative testing of several models with a capacity of 32 and 64 GB.

Those times were passed when USB manufacturers of flash steps completed their products with a variety of bonus utilities, equipped their fingerprint scanners or free space indicators. Whether the manufacturers realized all the meaninglessness of such a strategy, whether such "chips" ceased to be fashionable, but the fact remains the fact - the flash drives today have nothing like that.

With the advent of the new USB 3.0 interface, the flash drives have become more speed, and their capacity has increased. It is clear that the larger the flax capacitance, the higher the requirements for their high-speed characteristics, since the spacious flash drive with a low recording speed and reading is not needed.

In order to define high-speed indicators of modern flash drives with USB 3.0 interface, we conducted a comparative testing of several models with a capacity of 32 and 64 GB. In total, five models participated in testing: Apacer Handy Steno AH552 32GB, Kingmax ED-01 64 GB, Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0 64 GB, Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0 32 GB and Verbatim Store'n'GO USB 3.0 Flash Drive 64 GB.

Testing technique

To test USB flash stacks with USB 3.0 interface, we used the stand configuration stand:

  • processor - Intel Core i7-2600k;
  • motherboard - ASRock P67 Pro3;
  • memory - 4 GB DDR3-1333;
  • USB 3.0 controller on the board - Etron EJ168A;
  • drive with the operating system - Kingston SSDNOW KC100 with a capacity of 120 GB;
  • operating system - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Additionally, the Intel RST driver was installed on the system, and the Kingston SSDNOW KC100 SSD drive from the operating system installed on it was connected to the SATA port 6 Gb / s, which is implemented through the controller integrated into the Intel P67 Express chipset. In the BIOS settings for SATA ports, AHCI operation mode was set.

For comparative testing of flash drives, we used the well-known IOMEter utility, which is a very powerful tool for analyzing the performance of drives and is a kind of industry standard. In addition, we used a special test developed in our laboratory.

Recall that the iOMETER utility allows you to work with both the drives on which the logical partition is created and with the drives without that. True, when testing Flash snaps with USB interface, it is not always possible to delete the logical section to the tools of the operating system, and therefore we tested all USB drives with a logical partition and NTFS file system.

If there is a logical partition on the drive, then the IOMETER utility creates a file that the entire logical section occupies the default (in principle, the size of this file can be changed by specifying it in the number of 512-byte sectors), and then it works with it, that is, Reads or writes (overwrites) Separate LBA blocks within this file.

The iOMETER utility allows you to specify the size of the query block (Transfer Request Size) to write / read data; The test can be carried out both for serial (sequential) reading and writing, that is, when the LBA blocks are read and recorded in successively each other and for random (Random) read and write, when the LBA blocks are read and recorded in an arbitrary order. When forming a load scenario, you can set the test time, the percentage between sequential and random operations (Percential Random / Sequential Distribution), as well as the percentage ratio between read and write operations (Percent read / Write Distribution).

During testing, the dependence of the speed of performing operations of serial and random reading, as well as a serial and random recording from the size of the data transmission request block is investigated. In all download scenarios, data transmission requests were used by blocks of the following dimensions: 512 bytes, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 KB and 1 MB.

In all load scenarios, the test time with each request for data block transmission was 3 minutes. We also note that in all the listed tests we set the depth of the task queue in the iOMter settings (# of Outstanding I / OS) equal to 4, which is typically for user applications.

The iOMECER utility actually works into account bypassing the operating system, that is, directly sends requests to the controller to read / write data. In this case, the test results actually do not depend on the platform used to test the platform (processor, memory, motherboard), nor, which is especially important, from the performance of the drive with an installed operating system. Moreover, experience shows, test results are almost independent of the file system used on the test drive, that is, for NTFS, FAT32 and EXFAT, test results are almost the same. The iOMETER utility allows you to measure the maximum possible (theoretically) data transfer rate for each size of the data block. On the one hand, it is her big plus, and on the other - minus, because in real conditions the speed that demonstrates the iOMter utility is simply unattainable. The fact is that when testing using the iOMter utility, a system disk (drive) is not activated, that is, all data movement operations are carried out between rAM and tested drive. In the real conditions, the data movement is always done between the flash drive and the system disk or other drive. That is, in the process of moving data, two "players" and the copying speed depends on the speed abilities of both of them. For example, when the file from the flash drive is copied to the system disk, the reader is performed for the flash drive, and the recording operation is performed for the system disk. If the recording speed on the system drive is below the speed of reading from the flash drive, the copy speed will be determined by the recording speed on the system disk, otherwise the read speed from the flash drive. Thus, when copying data between two drives for one drive, the read operation is implemented, and for another, the recording operation is implemented; The copy speed depends on which of the two speeds (read or record) is lower. That is why in a real situation, even a high-speed flash drive may not provide high copy speed.

In order to determine theoretically possible reading and recording speed, namely real, we also used during testing the utility of our own development. It uses feature calls from the WinAPI library and makes data copying just as done standard means Windows 7 - calling a standard window with a copy progress display.

The principle of operation of this utility is very simple. Initially, the test directory is copied to the SSD drive on the SSD drive and the copy speed is measured. The test directory has a size of 4.54 GB and is a set of 973 files of different sizes, which are contained in 113 folders. At the second stage, a test directory is copied with a flash drive SSD and the copy speed is measured again. Next, copies the test directory from the flash drive on the flash drive. Well, at the final testing stage, the speed of two-way copying of the test directory from the flash drive to the SSD drive is measured (the same directory is copied, but stored under different names) and from the SSD drive to the flash drive.

All tests were driven five times, before each new run, the computer rebooted. In addition, to eliminate the possibility of caching data when copying and increase the repeatability of the results, forcibly, through the registry settings, the Prefetch and SuperFetch functions of the Windows 7 operating system were blocked.

As already noted, the results of real copy depend not only on the high-speed characteristics of the flash drive, but also on the performance of the computer's disk subsystem (in our case - SSD drive). For example, if the SSD drive is replaced with a regular HDD disk, then the results will be significantly lower. However, it is necessary to take into account that in our booth, a high-speed SSD drive was used, which made it possible to minimize its effect on test results. That is, in our case, the results were determined mainly by the speed characteristics of the tested flash.

In addition, it should be borne in mind that test results depend on the compatibility of a particular flash drive with a USB 3.0 controller integrated on motherboard.

Test participants

Before proceeding to consider test results, we give a brief description of each flash drive.

Comfortable, stylish and compact flash drive. Its housing is made of aluminum painted using powder spraying technology in a dark-skinned color, which emphasizes the belonging of this model to drives supporting the USB 3.0 standard.

The USB connector is closed by a cap, which is rigid enough. Moreover, the cap can be fixed on the side of the case opposite from the USB connector, which is very convenient, because in this case there is less likelihood of losing it.

On the opposite of the USB connector, the side of the case has a special ring from plastics, to which you can attach a lace to carry flash drive. Under plastic lining There is a blue LED, which, when using the device, glows in nonry light.

According to the technical documentation, the maximum consistent reading rate of this flash drive is 110 MB / s, and the sequential recording speed is 70 MB / s.

Apacer Handy Steno AH552 flash drive is produced in two versions - a volume of 32 and 64 GB. In our test laboratory visited the younger model - 32 GB. Its dimensions are 73.3 × 19.8 × 9.0 mm with weight of only 13 g.

Kingmax offers Flashki series ED-01 with a capacity of 8 to 128 GB. These flash drives with the USB 3.0 interface have a plastic black body with chrome edging. The cap closing the USB connector is also plastic, but stylized under metal and is made in one color with edging. It should be noted that the cap is not fixed on the flash drive housing from the side opposite to the USB connector, so it is easy to lose. Yes, and on the USB connector itself, the cap is fixed quite inconvenient and the effort should be attached to remove it.

Overall dimensions of the KingMax ED-01 flash drive housing are 74.5 × 20 × 9 mm, and the weight is 10.5 g.

According to specifications, the maximum consistent reading rate for this flash drive is 69 MB / s, and the speed of the serial recording is 47 MB / s. As you can see, even the stated characteristics suggest that we have a very slow flash drive. Most likely, it is based on a USB 3.0 controller and a first-generation flushpath, which manufacturers are no longer used in new models.

Flashki Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0 were one of the first flash drives with USB 3.0 interface, which appeared on russian market. They are produced with a capacity of 16, 32 and 64 GB.

Compared to other models, Flashka Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0 looks pretty cumbersome. Its housing is made of white plastic with metal inserts on the sides and has dimensions of 73.7 × 22.2 × 16.1 mm. As you can see, the flash drive is somewhat fat.

The USB connector is closed by a cap, which is secure and easily fixed, and can also be mounted on the flash drive housing by the opposite to the USB connector.

The construction of the housing provides for the possibility of carrying flash drives on the shoelace. Note that the Blue LED is built into the flash drive housing, which glows when the device is operated.

According to specifications, the maximum consistent reading speed for this flash drive is 80 MB / s, and the speed of the serial recording is 60 MB / s. This is not very high high-speed characteristics for modern flash drives with USB 3.0 interface, but still they are better than the Flashkin Kingmax ED-01.

Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0 is a new flash factory from Kingston. According to the manufacturer, the novelty has become the fastest and tank flash drive with the USB 3.0 interface in its assortment.

DataTraveler Hyperx 3.0 drives are available in three versions - with a capacity of 64, 128 and 256 GB. A flash drive of 64 GB fell to us for testing.

The body of the flash drive is made of metal and has a rubber coating. The size of the housing is 75 × 23.3 × 15.9 mm.

According to the manufacturer, thanks to the use of eight-channel architecture, the maximum speed of the sequential reading of the DataTraveler Hyperx 3.0 flash drive is 225 MB / s, and the sequential recording speed is 135 MB / s.

As you can see, if you focus on the high-speed specifications declared in the specification, Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0 is the fastest flash drive in our review.

According to unofficial information, the DataTraveler Hyperx 3.0 flash drive uses the Phison PS2251-01-L and 32-nm Flashpami Basic Toshiba (MLC) chips from Toshiba.

Verbatim Store`N`Go USB 3.0 Flash Drive is a relatively new Verbatim flash factory, which was officially announced in April last year. It is produced by a capacity of 16, 32 and 64 GB. The drive has a retractable USB connector, which eliminates the need to use a protective cap.

The housing of this flash drive is made of plastic of the temperature of the color. Moreover, it looks, if you can put it, quite cheap, there are no sings in design, everything is extremely simple.

According to the specification, the maximum sequential read speed for this flash drive is 120 MB / s, and the sequential recording speed is 70 MB / s.

Test results

The results of flash drives using the iOMETER utility are presented in Fig. 1-4, and test results using our own utility - in the table.

First of all, according to test results, you can unambiguously argue that Apacer Handy Steno AH552 and Verbatim Store`n`Go USB 3.0 Flash Drive is one and the same. That is, they have the hulls, of course, different, but the hardware "filling" is completely the same. Such an assertion can be done on the basis of the fact that all their indicators in tests coincide.

If we talk about the results of testing using the ometer utility, the situation is as follows. The speed of consistent reading and recording the highest speed, as expected, turned out to be a flash drive Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0. So, at our booth (we recall that on the motherboard we used by us, the USB 3.0-controller ETRON EJ168A is integrated, its maximum consistent reading rate was 178 MB / s, and the speed of the serial recording is 140 MB / s. Next, on the speed rating, the Apacer Handy Steno AH552 and Verbatim Store AH552 and Verbatim Store`n`Go USB 3.0 Flash Drive are followed, behind them - Flashka Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0, and in the last place - Flashka Kingmax ED-01.

By random recording speed, the leader was a flash drive Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0. It is followed by the Apacer Handy Steno AH552 and Verbatim Store`n`go USB 3.0 Flash Drive with the same results, then with a small lag behind them there is a flash drive Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0, and closes the list of the slowest flash drive Kingmax ED-01.

If we talk about the results of testing using our utility, that is, the results of measuring the real speed of data copying, the picture is as follows. The highest speed was the Flash Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0. In second place with absolutely the same results, Apacer Handy Steno AH552 and Verbatim Store `N`Go USB 3.0 Flash Drive were Flash Drive, then there is a Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0 flash drive, and closes the list of Flash Kingmax ED-01.

Conclusion

Summarizing our comparative testing of flash stacks with USB 3.0 interface, you can draw the following conclusions. First, the speed characteristics of USB 3.0 flash drives can be strongly (many times) differ from each other, which is definitely necessary to consider when choosing a drive. Vacuing, the maximum reading speeds and write speeds in practice are unattainable, since in reality, the copy speed depends on the performance of not only flash drive, but also the second participant in the testing process. Therefore, it makes no sense to acquire a high-speed flash drive with USB 3.0 interface, if on your PC or laptop traditional slow HDD. Use a high-speed flash drive only in the event that a high-speed SSD drive is installed in a laptop or PC.

When choosing the best product from those considered by us, we would recommend to look at such flash drives like Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0, Apacer Handy Steno AH552 and Verbatim Store`N`Go USB 3.0 Flash Drive (the last two is, in principle, the same thing) . Of course, Flashka Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0 is more speed, but you can hardly notice it on a regular computer or laptop with HDD.

Speaking of price, we note that on average flash drive with a capacity of 64 GB, there are now about 4 thousand rubles. We could not find prices for all the considered flash drives (for example, not yet available Flashki Verbatim Store`N`go USB 3.0 Flash Drive with a capacity of 64 GB), but note that Apacer Handy Steno AH552 64GB flash drive is offered for 4100 rubles, and Kingston Datatraveler Hyperx 3.0 64GB will cost 4600 rubles.

Sooner or later, any technical thing goes into the discharge of the refrigerator, i.e. Buying her most thinks rather about appearance and capacity than about the characteristics. Actually, so long ago it happened with USB flash drives - many of my friends who are ready with foam at the mouth to discuss the speed characteristics of some SSD, when it comes to flash drives, they make a hand and buy a beautiful famous firm (most often Kingston or Silicon Power). Because "... And what to choose then? Flash and there is a flash drive. "

Meanwhile, choose from what. The high-speed characteristics of individual USB drives can exceed the average solar times in 4 times. At the same time, the price of them will not be excellent.

So, how we will choose. To begin with, we go to the USB.userbenchmark.com website, where users upload the results of the benchmarks of their USB sticks. We choose a volume of 32 gigs (as the average and as the most presented in the domestic market from the models under consideration). The results obtained by filtering the speed of reading and with surprise I find the first place not to say that the well-known Lexar JumpDrive P10 USB 3.0

Read speed - 250 MB / S, records - 215 Mb / s. For comparison, it is assembled at 64GB (by the way, the leader in recording speed among the flash drives of different volumes) can write data at a speed of 235 MB / S and read on 231 MB / s

But is this flash drive with the most successful purchase? For comparison, we will make three things:

  1. Since the benchmarks benchmarks, and everyday use is a little different, we use the concept of "effective speed", which, according to UserBenchmark.com, means the following: most USB drives are used for reserve copy and storage of video, audio and photo. Accordingly, effective speed is weighed as 50% sequential reading, 40% of serial recording, 5% of reading and 5% recording 4K video.
  2. We will sort 32-gig flash drives in this parameter. Choose the first ten, throwing the exotic brands for Russia.
  3. And to be very confident, in front of each flash drive of its average price according to Yandex.Market or Price.ru For rare cases.
Below is the resulting table:

* Clarification regarding the price of JumpDrive P10

At the time of publication, I found only one sentence with an astronomical price of 7,500 rubles. At Amazon, such a flash drive costs about $ 60, so I took the arrogance of the price of about 4,000 thousand

And now we will make a small visualization showing the speed / price ratio. To do this, change the values of the velocities of recording and reading, and will use the effective speed as a correction ratio:

Right top point (block 1) is our leader with a transcendental price. Then, the next block goes SanDisk Extreme and Corsair Flash Voyager GT, while SanDisk will be a more successful purchase as similar in characteristics and cheaper.

The rest of the flash drives are essentially in the third block, and here the most successful purchase will be ADATA DashDrive and SanDisk Ultra Fit. ADATA has a little cheaper price, SanDisk has a higher recording speed. Interestingly, Testing MicroSd flash drives in the same way dismisses the advantage of SanDisk.

Well, the cheapest of the "correct" flash drives presented by the "correct" flash drives is ADATA DashDrive UV150. As you can see, at such a price, it does not have the worst characteristics.

It would seem, all that can be put on this point - the most interesting options are defined. But this is true only if you need just a flash drive and nothing but. But if you have a tablet or you are interested in embedded cryptography, then the speed is unlikely to be wondering you so much.

Alas, but normal speeds here it does not smell. Standard USB 2.0. But a pleasant eye.

As for cryptography, there are many options that support encryption on the fly (including the above-mentioned high-speed flash drives, but here, for obvious reasons, you have to sacrifice speed). But I would like to draw your attention to an ultimative and to some extent a fun option with entering Pina directly on Flashke like Samurai Guarddo Touche or Istorage Datashur.

Of the disadvantages of such solutions, it is worth noting slow speed (only USB 2.0) and a too high price. Still, usual software encryption seems more suitable for me.

Quite high reading and write speed (198 and 45 MB / S, respectively, that at the level of the 8th place from our list) allows you to attribute it to the category of fairly reasonable purchases. Of the disadvantages it is worth noting except that inappropriate low-volume price (about 2000 for 16 gigabytes). But here as the main main argument to the fore, there is an increased protection against strikes.

Afterword from Icover:
Dear readers, we remind you that you are reading the blog company ICOVER, a place where you can get a good advice or examination in the world of gadgets, and if you have accumulated your own experience related to our range - we will be glad to see you in a number of authors of this blog. And, of course, do not forget to subscribe to us and we promise - it will not be boring.

Almost every person who has a computer, knows what a flash drive is and how she looks like. Therefore, we will not lead the definition of this device. But how to choose a flash drive, on which nuances and characteristics, first of all, it is worth paying attention to all. So we'll figure it out now.

Memory size

The first factor on which pays attention to when selecting a flash card is the amount of memory. Now in stores mainly sell flash drives with a volume of 4 GB and up to 64 GB. Flash drives less than four gigabytes are almost not found on sale.

On the this moment The best prices / volume are Flash drives 16/32 GB. That's the size of the flash drive, we advise you to buy, such a volume is enough for most everyday tasks - transfer text files, music, photos, films.

If you need to transfer very large volumes, you can find flash cards to 256 gigabytes on sale. Or in such a better look at the external hard drives, which in the ratio of the price / volume will cost you much cheaper, and it will be more reliable.

Read / write speed

This is one of the main characteristics for which most ordinary buyers when buying a flash drive do not pay due attention. Preferring cheap larger storage.

If the recording speed is very low, then, for example, recording your favorite movie in good quality you can spend an hour or more. Yes, and just every time throwing a large amount of information your patience will be at the limit.

Now it is no longer difficult to find flash drives at a speed of 30-50 MB / s. Here on this range and focus. With the speed of reading, everything is slightly simpler, since the speed of reading the flash drive is usually 1.5 - 2 times higher recording speed.

You can look at the speed of the drive on the package or in the product card, if you choose a flash drive in the online store. And of course, the price itself will tell you, since most often fast flash cards make out of more expensive and, accordingly faster chips.

Housing

Duma You now have become not much understood how to choose a flash drive. But, the two parameters listed above is not all.

The appearance of the flash card is a matter of taste, but there are some but:

  • the size, Too big drive fails to stick into the case next to another drive. Since USB ports in the computer case or in the laptop are located very close to each other. It is also not necessary to purchase too small flash cards, similar to the plug for USB. They are usually slow and quickly fail. Yes, and lose a similar flash card very easy.
  • drives with retractable time It is better to avoid similar flash drives usually quickly fail with active use.
  • quality, expensive and fast flash cards, usually have a strict and universal design, so be careful with flash drives with a bright design.

Interface

At the moment, flash drives work with the support of two main interfaces - USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 interface does not have a big effect on the speed of the conventional drive, but the USB 3.0 interface is quite a new type and has a greater potential in data transmission. Therefore, with other things being equal, choose USB 3.0USB 3.0 flash drives are compatible with devices that do not have this interface.

Brands

If you are interested in exactly what flash drive to choose, we would advise the following brands drives:

Only three manufacturers control about 80% of the world market.

Also, one of the main indicators of the flash card reliability is the number of warranty repairs. It is very rare to repair flash drives from Transcend - 1 flash card out of 900, Apacer - 1 out of 540, Kingston - 1 of 490.

Additional functions

All sorts of bums, type - flashlight, clock, display, are hardly needed. Their presence will only affect price increase.

Work on the specifications of the USB 3.0 standard was completed at the end of 2008, which made it possible computer Industry Start developing devices. Already in 2010, almost all the leading manufacturers announced systems with USB 3.0 support. But the mass attack of the new interface to the market is still ahead.

According to In-Stat, by 2014, the overwhelming majority of new computers will be equipped with USB 3.0, and in 2015 - all without exception.

But this is just one side of the medal - they also need devices. However, the case will not be behind them.

If in 2012, according to the In-Stat forecast, less than 500 million USB 3.0 devices will be implemented, then in 2015 - already 2 billion! By the way, I wonder where it is sold uSB devices 1.1 - judging by the forecast, they reluctantly pass positions.

That in the speed of you

Have you heard that USB 3.0 can be 10 times faster than the predecessor? This digit is obtained by comparing its maximum bandwidth of 5 Gbps and 480 Mbit / s in USB 2.0. Device manufacturers, however, do not fall into the marketing hysteria and indicate more real numbers, thereby avoiding accusations of the deception of buyers.

So, for my USB 3.0 flash drive, it is modestly indicated that the connection to this port makes it twice as fast.

Specific reading and recording speeds are also given, and below you will see how coincided with my tests.

Are you ready to test? Always ready!

The actual data exchange rate depends on both from the USB device and from the hardware configuration of the system and the USB controller driver.

The tests were conducted on the HP Pavilion DV7-6053ER laptop (Windows 7 SP1 x64), where in different sides are divorced uSB ports 2.0 and 3.0. For a USB 3.0 controller, the driver was installed using Windows Update.

In fact, this is a NEC chip and driver, as Renesas Electronic is a joint venture of several large Japanese companies, where NEC is the main shareholder.

I measured the speed of familiar household devices - flash drives. As a primary, it was strict on the form of the ADATA S102 16 GB (USB 3.0).

On the singing - weightless and feminine Transcend JF620 32 GB (USB 2.0) ...

... and large, brutal SanDisk Contour Cruzer 8 GB (USB 2.0).

Pictures deceptively hide the true dimensions of the flash drive, so I decided to reach the camera.

USB 2.0 speed test

For the test, I used Crystaldiskmark, and I decided to compare the speed of ADATA S102 with the manufacturer's statements.

Let me remind you that the read speed was declared 34 MB / s, and records - 21 MB / s. Crystaldiskmark shows close results, although reading does not reach a bit.

Everything in the world is relative, so I compared the AdaTa speed with Transcend, which seemed to feel a little more recently disappeared by sisters.

When the read speed is comparable to ADATA, transcend was a third more slowly with a serial record, but 2.5 times faster at random recording 512K. By the way, Transcend has declared the reading speed of 31 MB / s and a 12 MB / s recording speed for this flash drive.

SanDisk, who faithfully serves his brother, showed itself so (we will do without a screenshot):

Sequential reading: 25.969 MB / S | Sequential recording: 12.985 MB / S
Random reading 512KB: 25.654 MB / S | Random 512KB: 1.946 MB / S

By the way, its results confirmed that a random recording is not the strongest side of the flash drive ADATA.

USB Speed Test 3.0

Since the ADATA S102 was the only flash drive with a 3.0 interface, she competed with himself and unconditionally won :)

When connecting to K. uSB port 3.0 The speed of consistent reading increased more than 3 times, which is almost 2 times faster than the 68 MB / s manufacturer.

The serial record has become 1.5 times faster than when connected to port 2.0, also exceeds the manufacturer's indicators. It is curious that the random record began even slightly slower.

RESULTS

Let's summarize the results:

  • the USB 3.0 interface occurs - in a few years it will dominate the market;
  • the actual speed of devices depends on them themselves, as well as the USB controller in the computer and installed in the driver system;
  • not all yogurts are equally useful, i.e. Flash speeds can vary greatly;
  • flashpeck manufacturers indicate their sites adequate estimates of reading and recording speeds;
  • based on tests, USB 3.0 devices are clearly faster (in my case, reading was 2-3 times faster, recording is 1.5 times).

Crystaldiskmark tests give dry numbers, but it is not too clear what it is poured into real life. After a couple of days, I will offer to your attention a comparison of USB flash drives and interfaces with typical operations with files and folders.

Hello. Although optical carriers are not in a hurry to go into the past, but more and more people go to the use of compact USB drives. What kind flots are the most reliable and fast? You will learn about this from my actual review.

Every year more and more manufacturers appear, which produce high-quality (and not very) Flash media. But the lion's market share is still occupied by recognized brands: Kingston, Transcend, Apacer and others.

Models a lot and choose among this diversity optimal option Not very simple. It is worth determining the preferences and find out:

  • What amount of memory should have a flash drive (now relevant from 32 GB);
  • The desired data transfer rate;
  • Do you suit your large design or need a compact model;
  • Is the degree of security of the device from liquid ingressing;
  • There should be protection against viruses and hacking.

It all depends on the scope of application of the drive. If you plan to use it with a car tape recorder to play music, then you should choose a product with a compact case. Computer engineers I. system administrators Prefer the recording / reading speed so that you can quickly install the desired software.

Rating Flakes for Reliability 2016

I analyzed the popular USB drives 2016 and made a list. It includes models with exclusively positive customer reviews, high estimates of reputable computer publications.

A simple device that does not boast a unique design. The black body is made of durable plastic. The surface is smooth, and there is an important inscription "USB 3.0" near the cap, which indicates a high data exchange rate when connected to the corresponding interface: reading - up to 70 MB / s, and recording - up to 30 MB / s.

This is exactly the case when you do not need to overpay for registration. Need performance at an adequate price - choose this model.

A more perfect flash drive compared to the previous drive. Again, the design is simple, but all the salt is hidden inside. The special structure of cells is used, providing excellent indicators of information processing speed. A chess texture is applied to the body, which makes fingerprints not as noticeable.

I analyzed the prices of devices with different amounts of memory and concluded that for JetFlash 780 it is better to buy a model for 64 GB. In this case, the cost of one gigabyte will be minimal.

Just in case, I will note that all "participants" of this review are placed in the order of decreasing popularity.

A simple and practical model with a sliding case, which reduces the probability of the loss of the cap. Material - plastic. At first glance it may seem that it is not too high quality and will not be able to check the time. But positive feedback on the pages of many online stores convince us in the opposite. Flash drives of the previous generation of this manufacturer were made of the same plastic. I was lucky to "live" to inspect the corps, and I did not reveal any defects that could affect the operational characteristics of the device. I will continue to tell what flash drives are better.

And again transcend! This time we are dealing with a stylish thing, the weight of which is just over 8 grams. Very convenient to carry with me to work, study. Does not take up much space and can serve as an attractive accessory for girls.

If you want to purchase a flash drive, which will work equally well, both with USB 2.0, and with 3.0, then you should pay attention to this model. A very comfortable design with a large ring for fastening and a high-quality cap, which is not "loosened" over time and does not fall.

High data processing speed allows you to use the drive in almost any field:

  • for installation software;
  • to play music or video;
  • for reliable storage of personal information.

According to the characteristics, this adaptation is very similar to the previous participant, which is rated. It also works well with all USB protocols. Manage data is becoming easier using TRANSCEND ELITE brand software.

The case is quite compact. No cap, because the retractable mechanism is used. The activity of the device is noticed by the light indicator, which is very convenient. To the flash drive is not lost, it can be fixed on the key storage ring.

At first it may seem that this model is too large and inconvenient. But when it turns out to be in your hands, the opinion changes dramatically. Yes, the hull has some constructive featuresWhat affects dimensions. But the surface is pleasant to the touch, although not protected from scratches.

To access the connector, you should activate the mechanism (loudly said!), Similar to the one that is used in a knocked knife. At the same time, a soft click is heard, which gives the device a special color. In reliability you may not doubt - reviews about flash drive on the network only positive. You can check yourself.

Of the advantages of the model, you can select a retractable design and a superfolder body, made using ultrasonic welding technology. As a result, you may not worry about the fact that the drive will accidentally break in half or crack when falling. Maximum protection - for an acceptable cost!

Perhaps my words will seem too loud to you, but this flash drive is the most compact in the world! But do not think that this fact affects its capacity. The use of a special technology for placing the cells allowed "push" in a small case of dozens of gigabytes of memory. The thing is for the storage of thousands of audio files and millions of documents.

Closes the top 10 USB USB flash drives device from the famous brand SanDisk. Among the interesting points:

  • The ability to store your data in the "cloud" (up to 2 GB);
  • Protection of information from outsiders using the SecureAccess utility;
  • Small dimensions.

Cruzer Fit will not boast of Cruzer Fit (recording / reading - 5/8 MB per second), but the main purpose of this model is a reliable storage of information, with which it copes excellent.

I am sure that you will definitely make your choice which flash drive is better to buy,stripping from this rating. In any case, my article helped substantially narrow the circle so that you should not go through hundreds of options. If you have questions about the topic, boldly ask them in the comments. I'll be glad to help!

Sincerely, Victor

Modern technologies are developing with sevenmile steps. Processors are becoming more powerful, screens clearer, the camera is better - all this allows you to create much more productive programs and better movies and games rather than before. But such a "arms race" led to the need to keep huge amounts of information. And if a 50 GB film does not select a lot of space on a hard disk, then convey it to another device is already harder. Good manufacturers do not forget about the old good flash drives.

There are a huge set: MicroSD, SD, MemoryStick and a bunch of all else. We will talk about the most familiar format for most people - USB Flash. Drive - or simply speaking about USB flash drives. If you speak a book, this is a device for storing, transferring and exchanging data (films, music, documents, etc.). Also flash drives are used to back up and load operating systems, but these directions are less popular among the population.

By your structure, most USB flash drives are standard enough: a USB interface to communicate with the host device (computer, TV, multimedia car system, etc.), controller, oscillator and directly nand-chip flash memory. So it turns out that flash drives are essentially different from each other, and therefore the choice of a particular model depends mainly on the speed of reading and writing, reliability and appearance. These parameters and pay attention to our traditional ranking. Go!

Best USB - 2.0 flash drives

To begin with, let's understand a little more old technology Flash drives having a USB 2.0 interface. This standard was born back in the distant 2000 year, and therefore it is difficult for him to comply with modern performance standards. The maximum possible speed is 480 Mbps, which is equal to 60 MB / s. It seems not so bad, but these are only theoretical numbers. In fact, flash drives with USB 2.0 are able to issue no more than 35 "meters" per second when reading, but to record and even lower. Of course, there are still restrictions on the maximum strength of the current, but in the context of the article on flash drives, this is not interested in us. The only thing about the model from this category can boast is the price. If you compare flash drives of a similar volume from one manufacturer, it turns out that the USB 2.0 flash drive is about 2 times cheaper than a more modern competitor.

So it turns out that recommending models from this rating there are people who, or not much cares the time spent on the waiting time, or those who work with small amounts of data, where the speed is not so much important. In any case, we advise you to look at our rating of the best USB flash drives with 2.0 interface

Note! For the "purity of the experiment" in the ranking, we compare the models with the most popular volume - 16 GB. Versions with a greater or less capacity may differ in terms of cost and speed.

3 Kingston Datatraveler SE9

The most stylish
Country: USA (produced in China)
The average price: 710 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.4

Unfortunately, the flash drive of one of the leading companies in the company's storage facilities is not a special quality. Yes, the design is interesting. Dimensions are compact. But you forget about all this when you try to download the bulk file on the USB flash drive. The speed amazes, but not in a very good sense. The price, of course, is pleasant, but wins less than 50 rubles the buyer significantly loses in speed and additional functions.

Advantages:

  • Metal housing
  • Best price

Disadvantages:

  • Low read speed (22.5 MB / s) and recording (15.6 MB / s)

2 transcend jetflash 600

Better speed
Country: China
The average price: 1 120 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.7

Transcend is engaged in the release of fairly interesting drives, but it is quite difficult to name JetFlash 600. Outwardly, it does not stand out - an ordinary piece of black plastic without a single hint of a designer sister. Here you can even scold the manufacturer for the absence of any fastening of the lid, which is why it is very easy to lose. Yes, and on the flash drive itself no face, so it will not work out to attach it to the keys. The only thing that can really smooth these flaws is the highest speed in the ranking.

Advantages:

  • Better speed. Reading - up to 32 MB / s. Recording - up to 16 MB / s
  • There is a password defense
  • Data compression feature
  • There are versions from 4 to 128 GB - the largest selection

Disadvantages:

  • High cost - one and a half times higher than that of competitors

1 SanDisk Cruzer Fit

Self compact sizes
Country: USA (produced in China)
The average price: 740 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.8

A flash drive from SanDisk has almost all the advantages that can only wish. The main advantage over competitors is very compact sizes. Yes, it is easier to lose, rather than the overall models, but they buy it mainly, judging by the reviews, for use in the car. And here the small sizes are just a salvation, because in many car radio, the USB connector is located in front and a large flash drive with an inaccurate movement of the hand can be simply broken. Cruzer Fit also performs no more than 5 mm, and therefore carrying her hand it will be difficult. Also, this model can be recommended to the owners of laptops with a small amount of integrated memory. Inserted this baby to the port and forgot - the memory became more, but at the same time almost nothing sticks out.

Advantages:

  • Good speed indicators. Reading - 28.3 MB / s, recording - 13.96 MB / s
  • The most compact dimensions
  • It is possible to protect flash drive password
  • There is a backup function

Best USB flash drives with interface 3.0

Standard USB 3.0, like 2.0, it is difficult to name very modern, because the final specifications were formed in 2008. However, this interface It remains popular to this day, because Provides theoretical speed up to 625 MB / s. Already impressive, yes? In fact, such flash drives give about 250 "meters" for reading, which is also a very good result. Choose best model Our rating will help in this category.

Attention! As in the previous category, we compare the models with the same volume. In this case, it is 64 GB. Other versions may differ in price and high-speed indicators.

3 TRANSCEND JetFlash 790

Best price
Country: China
Average price: 959 rub.
Rating (2017): 4.4

No matter how strange it sounds, but the manufacturer of the highest possible flash drive in the previous category does not speak very well with USB 3.0. The design is interesting, and you will not lose the lid. High-speed indicators seem to be nothing, but very unstable. Judging by the reviews, they differ one and a half times! What it is connected - incomprehensible. Otherwise, this is a fairly standard flash drive for a small price.

Advantages:

  • Data transfer indicator
  • Large selection - models from 8 to 128 GB

Disadvantages:

  • Unstable speed indicators. An average of 101.75 MB / s per read and 44.8 MB / s on recording

2 Corsair Flash Voyager GS (Cmfvygs3)

Better reading speed
Country: USA (produced in China)
Average price: 4 089 rub.
Rating (2017): 4.7

Corsair products are sufficiently known among computer enthusiasts and, not surprisingly, little familiar to ordinary users. And the only thing that prevents the widespread spread of the brand is a high price. Very high. Yes, the speed of work here is one of the best in the world. Yes, build quality and reliability at the very high level. But, unfortunately, the usual buyer is unlikely to want to pay 3-4 times higher for the sake of accommodation in performance for several tens of percent.

Advantages:

  • The highest speed - in real tests of reading speed amounted to 236 MB / s, recording - 170 MB / s
  • Metal housing

Disadvantages:

  • High price
  • Large dimensions

1 Kingston Datatraveler R3.0 G2

The best ratio of price and quality. Waterproof housing
Country: USA (produced in China)
The average price: 1 300 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.8

Finally, we reached one of the most interesting flash drives. Her main feature - Waterproof. Of course, a light rain will almost certainly survive any model, but this flash drive from Kingston can safely immerse into the water, without fearing to lose the data. It can be useful, this can not only extremal, but also ordinary people who worry about safety important files. In addition, the speed of the flash drive does not suffer from a protected rubber case. On the contrary, the official numbers are a bit ... understated, which cannot but please.

Advantages:

  • Water-proof housing
  • Real speed above officially stated - reading 141.5 MB / s, recording 44.7 MB / s
  • Maximum memory capacity up to 256 GB

Disadvantages:

  • With high load, the case is noticeably heated

USB flash drives, or USB drives - convenient media, thanks to which you can transfer files from one computer to another simple way. However, when choosing such an accessory, it is desirable to take into account many parameters, which will determine the convenience of use. To facilitate the search for a suitable drive, we made up the ranking of the best flash drives.

What is worth knowing when choosing a flash drive

Selection of a flash drive is not such a simple occupation as it seems. Of course, if the drive is planned to be used mainly to transfer documents, you can take the first (or the most beautiful). But if it is stored on it big files Or multimedia with a high bit rate - films in full HD resolution, for example, then the choice is to approach responsibly.

Flashplay connectors (USB Type-C, USB Type-A, Micro USB)

    The flash drive connector defines the hardware compatibility of this drive with a computer. The most popular standard is USB Type-a. This is a classic 4-pin rectangular connector, which is used in almost all computers.

    In 2018, flash drives with the USB Type-C connector are becoming increasingly popular. This is an oval, symmetrical connector. Such a connector is equipped flagship smartphones, ultrabooks and hybrid laptops. For example, in MacBook Pro. 2017 only USB Type-C is used, so you will not install a "ordinary" flash drive.

    Micro USB is a gradually obsolete standard. It is used in smartphones and ultra-budget hybrid laptops. If you plan to work on the go and open files from a flash drive to mobile device - It is worth purchasing a drive with two connectors: USB Type-A and Micro USB.

Adapters between connectors exist, as well as flash drives equipped with two connectors at once.

USB generation (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1)

The maximum data transfer rate on the USB flash drive and is determined not only by the performance of the most built-in drive, but also used by the USB generation. So, the limit values are as follows:

    USB 1.1 - up to 12 Mbps;

    USB 2.0 - up to 480 Mbps;

    USB 3.0 - up to 5 Gb / s;

    USB 3.2 - up to 20 Gbps.

Self-evident that if you plan to copy to the USB flash drive or with it a large amount of information (several GB at a time), then it is better not to skit and take uSB drive 3.0 or 3.1. For documents, small files, etc. Suitable less than new generations.

By the way, USB 3.2 is supported only on USB Type-C.

Actual data volume

The actual capacity of the flash drive is always less specified on the package. This is not only a marketing reception, but also a technological feature. File manufacturers believe that 1000 bytes is 1 kilobyte. The operating system is confident in another - 1 kilobyte is equal to 1024 bytes.

As a result, the actual volume of data is always less than nominal. And if 30 GB of information is planned to be stored on a flash drive, then the drive of 32 GB is no longer suitable - you need to take 64 GB.

The real containers of flash drives are below:

1 GB drive - actually 0.95 GB;

    On 4 GB - 3.72 GB;

    On 16 GB - 14.9 GB;

    On 32 GB - 29.8 GB;

    64 GB - 59.6 GB.

Actual data transfer rate

Two factors affect the actual data transfer rate:

    The first is the performance of the drive. This parameter varies between models (and often instances of one series) flash drives, and it is possible to calculate it only experimentally.

    The second is the minimum generation of USB. If you insert a "fast" USB flash drive 3.0 in slow port 1.1, the maximum transfer rate will be limited to the port speed 1.1. Conversely, if you insert a slow USB flash drive 1.1 to port 3.0, the transfer rate will be limited to the speed of the drive 1.1.

It is important to consider when buying a flash drive. If the drive is planned to be used to record moving on it from a computer and play later on the TV, and at the same time both data of the device are equipped with USB 2.0, to acquire the drive 3.0 - meaningless overpayment.

Corps material

This parameter is to consider if the USB 3.0 speed flash drive is purchased or the future drive is planned to be used very actively (for example, for READYBOOST technology). When quickly writing a flash carrier is noticeably heated. And it is necessary to somehow get warm.

The optimal option becomes the purchase of a flash drive in a metal case. It serves as a radiator, the oversight drive and extended the life of the device.

For slow or rarely used flash drives, this parameter does not value, any material or body design will suit.

Description: Heads the rating of a really fast flash drive SanDisk Extreme Pro. Due to the hardware optimization and support of the USB 3.1 standard, it provides a 380 megabyte consistent recording speed per second. Read even above - 420 megabytes per second. Therefore, it is suitable for the transfer of 4K video, and even to start and active work with databases. Such speed is ensured by the PSSD technology, that is, the device is not a flash drive in the classical understanding of this term, but rather a compact SSD drive.

A flash drive is performed in a metal case with a concise design. Two versions are available - 128 and 256 GB. The package includes a special software that allows you to encrypt the data on the flash drive and protect it with a password.

Despite the metal case, the flash drive is not protected from an aggressive external environment. It is better not to wet and not drop into dust.

    IRON KEY is working only if the flash drive is inserted into the computer and the client is installed on it;

    The connection connector is protected by a removable cap, which is tested.

The best flash drives on 16 and 32 GB

Why first place: the best combination of price and quality: USB 3.0, metal case, hardware encryption.

Description: High-speed flash drive, which is based on USB 3.0 technology. Thanks to this, the entry is maintained by 20 megabytes per second, and reading - by 135. The volume of the flash drive, as is clear from the model name, is 16 gigabytes. Data transfer rates are enough, for example, for streaming video playback in Full HD 30 FPS.

The flash drive is performed in a metal case. There is no layer for protection against moisture and dust, so it is better not to stir up and do not drop it into dirt. However, the flash drive is implemented hardware encryption data and protection against unauthorized access using password and complete software. Therefore, she heads our rating.

Dignity

    Full hardware data encryption and password protection;

    Reliable metal case;

    Minimum heating level.

disadvantages

    Software for decryption works only on Windows and Mac OS, it will not work on other operating systems;

    Incorrect translation of complete software for decryption;

    The connector is closed with a removable cap, which is tested.

Why second place: slightly lower speed than the previous flash drive, but also the minimum price.

Description: TRANSCEND JETFLASH 790 - good decision For those who need a "just flash drive." At a low price of several hundred rubles, it supports the USB 3.0 standard, which provides the speed of about 12 megabytes per second, for reading - about 90 megabytes.

The flash drive is performed in a plastic case with a retractable connector. There are no seals against moisture or dust. The data transmission indicator is embedded in the case - the LED flashing during copying or inserting.

The flash drive is executed in various versions of the amount of memory - from 16 GB (minimum) to 128 GB. Technical characteristics of all configurations are the same. Transcend JetFlash 790 is a good universal device, and therefore we included it in the rating.

It is performed in a waterproof case (withstands immersion to a depth of up to 200 meters) from high-strength duralumin with rubber shock-absorbing gaskets and a hermetically screwed cap. Therefore, it can be dropped, drowning, move by car - nothing with the data will not happen. The manufacturer is so confident in the protection of the flash drive, which gives it a five-year warranty.

The USB flash drive supports the USB 3.0 standard, thanks to which the data recording speed is about 40 megabytes per second, and reading is 80 megabytes.

The model is also a rich complete set. Together with her there is a chain and a token, which will like "survivalors" - and make this drive a good gift.

Dignity

    Maximum case protected;

    Optimal reading and writing speed;

    Quality of materials.

disadvantages

    Bulky, large-sized case;

Top Flash drives 64 and 128 GB capacity

Why first place: high data transfer rate, hardware encryption.

Description: 64-gigabyte flash drive configuration, which took the first place in the ranking of accumulators with a capacity of up to 32 GB. Like the "younger brother", this model offers high reading and write speed - up to 40 megabytes per second and up to 135 megabytes per second, respectively; USB 3.0 interface; Dense metal case and hardware protection.

Data protection is implemented by hardware encryption - all files on the drive are encoded, and you can access it only after entering the password. The appropriate software comes complete with a flash drive and works on the most popular operating systems: Windows and Mac OS.

The flash drive, of course, can not encrypt to provide access to data from different third-party computers.

Dignity

    High speed reading and writing when using the USB 3.0 interface;

    Support for hardware encryption;

    Durable metal case.

disadvantages

    It is noticeably heated when used;

    There are no pads protecting water or dust;

    The connector is closed with a cap, which is easy to lose.

Why second place: maximum reading and writing speed, but relatively high price.

Description: Hyperx Savage is not quite a flash drive. The drive uses SSD technology, providing a maximum data transfer rate in the ranking. Thus, the recording goes to 250 megabytes per second, reading - by 350. Of course, if you use the USB 3.1 interface USB flash drive.

Like other SSD drives in flash drive format, this model is initially divided into megabyte segments. Therefore, if you plan to store small files on it, it is desirable immediately after purchase format it by installing the standard sector dimensions for the necessary FS.

The housing of the flash drive is made of plastic and deprived of moisture or dust protecting. In addition, the outer shell is covered with a softtach material that is pleasant to the touch.

Dignity

    Maximum data transfer rate;

    Small heating when working;

    Pleasant to the touch plastic.

disadvantages

    Relatively slow recording in random access mode;

    Softtach coating "collects" dust and villi;

    Comparatively heavy and overall.

Top Big Capacity Flashks

Why first place: terabyte flash drive.

Description: The Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate GT terabyte drive is based on SSD technology, which allowed developers to fit into compact housing 1024 GB internal memory and provide high reading and writing speed. In particular, sequential copying of data is carried out on it 200 megabytes per second, and from it - by 300 megabytes. To ensure such a speed, USB 3.1 protocol is used.

The flash drive does not support hardware encryption, as it requires frequent overwriting segments, which is critical for SSD drives. The body of the device is made of metal with plastic inserts. The connector is retractable, and the removal mechanism is implemented very reliably and will not submit even after many years of use.

Why second place: 512 GB - twice as smaller than the rating leader.

Description: Another SSD drive in flash drive format. All devices manufactured under the Hyperx Savage brand have the same specifications. Therefore, like a 128-gigabyte version, a model on 512 GB has a 250 megabyte consistent recording rate per second, and reading is 350 megabytes per second. Random access (for example, when copying small files), slightly slower, but still at the level of USB 3.1 interface velocities.

Similarly, a 128-gigabyte version, this flash drive does not support hardware encryption due to the limitations of SSD technology to the number of overwriting of the sector and is performed in the plastic housing coated with Softtach. "From the box" segment size is 1 MB, so it is better to format it to storing small files with other cluster parameters.

Dignity

    Maximum reading and writing speed;

    Pleasant to the touch housing;

    Small heating when working.

disadvantages

    Heavy and bulky;

    Needs formatting;

    Small speed when writing small files.

Top Flash Drives with Two Connection Options

Why first place: combination uSB speeds 3.0 and Lightning, original design.

Description: Heading Rating USB flash drive ADATA i-Memory UE710 - a good solution for quick data transmission from a computer to an Apple smartphone or tablet without the need to copy via Dropbox or iTunes. For these purposes, the Lightning interface is used. A flash drive is associated with a USB 3.0, which provides high copying speeds.

To view the data on the flash drive from the phone or tablet, you will need to install a special application loaded from the AppStore. It is compatible with a huge number of file formats, so the drive is suitable for streaming listening music, watching movies or working with documents "on the go."

A flash drive is performed in a plastic case with two retractable connectors. Hardware encryption and protection against water or dust is not.

Dignity

    High speed copying files;

    Special software included;

    Original design and compact sizes.

disadvantages

    Is not a full "flash drive for iphone", useless without special applications or when opening incompatible file formats;

    No hardware encryption;

    No protection from water and dust.

Attention! This rating is subjective in nature, is not advertising and does not serve as a guide to purchase. Before buying, you need consultation with a specialist.

  1. Since the benchmarks benchmarks, and everyday use is a little different, we use the concept of "effective speed", which, according to userbenchmark.com, means the following: most USB drives are used to back up and storing video, audio and photo.

A selection of the fastest and inexpensive flash drives on an Aliexpress capacity of 64 GB. Plus a few words about the features of finding acceptable options.

What you need to know by buying flash drives on Ali

Speed

The Chinese always attached more exterior value than content. Although in the content perfectly disassembled. Therefore, a pretty flash drive with a capacity of 64 GB and a linear recording rate is only 3-4 MB / s - this is rather normal. Especially if focusing on the cheapest options. And if you are lucky, then the speed of the linear recording will be about 6-8 MB / s. With such parameters, throwing out a 4-gigabyte file with a movie with a movie can take from 9 to 25 minutes! And folders with small files are generally a whole eternity. But if you thoroughly dig, you can find options running 10 times faster.

Price

It is clear that 650-ruble instances of 64 GB of flash drives are the very bottom. However, an interesting models are already falling for 1100 rubles. And for 1500-1800 you can buy a drive from a well-known brand type Samsung or SanDisk. The only moment in Russian online stores branded things can be tried cheaper than Ali. Because the order from distant China will not always make sense. But with some Chinese brands it is quite possible to try with happiness.

Quality

The main problem with all these flash drives is that some nameless manufacturers have characteristics from a party to a party can differ significantly. They put different memory there, different controllers, guided by which components it was profitable to buy at the moment. However, there are those who follow the stability of indicators.

Another frequent problem concerning miniature models is a sharp drop in speed after 20-40 seconds of active work. It is connected with overheating of the built-in controller, which by reaching a certain temperature reduces performance.

There is also very wild stories when there are fewer memory in cheap flash drives than the declared (or defective modules), but the controller is programmed to the full declared volume.

As selected

I revised several dozen USB 3.0 flash drive options on Ali, focusing on their appearance and brand. If low speed was listed in their technical characteristics - immediately discarded. In other cases, the reviews were shifted in search of screenshots of the H2TestW test utility screenshots (CrystalMark and AS SSD are not suitable here due to the effect of caching in OS) that could confirm or refute the claimed parameters. At the same time, immediately listed in the blacklist of the model, if the buyers came across the fake drives of a smaller capacity or not corresponding to the characteristics of the instances. One of the scinting cases: a man ordered two identical flash drives in one of the stores, and the difference in the speed of their work turned out to be almost two-time.

Of course, this approach does not give 100% quality assurance, but it will noticeably minimize the risks.
