Cellular is so necessary. Cellular - what it is on the iPad and what's the difference. What is it

The choice of a shopping tablet involves the selection of the device with the necessary functionality and sifting all the others. However, sometimes it happens to get confused in non-obvious technical characteristics due to which the selection process itself may be noticeably complicated. For example, the term "Cellular", whose value knows not everyone knows. It is aggravated by this ignorance also because the difference in the price tags iPad Wi-Fi and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular is more than significant. And to reveal to the eye, what differ in externally similar tablets in the boxes will not succeed. In order to find out what "Cellular" should be slightly delighted in the history of the iPad.

The difference between iPad Wi-Fi and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular

From the very moment of creation, Apple tablets were divided into several categories. First, the iPad was produced with a different amount of memory, and secondly was the choice of the coloring of the tablet, and finally, thirdly, various communication modules were used in devices. Faised tablets were used by the Wi-Fi module (which implied the dependence of the user from the Wi-Fi access point). It would still be necessary to notice that the iPad does not initially exist without Wi-Fi.

In turn, the tablets are more expensive equipped with not only the Wi-Fi module, but also an additional mobile module. Such devices are obtained by marking an iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iPad Wi-Fi + LTE, iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular. Usually in order not to break the language, it is customary to call such "iPad with a SIM card" tablets. The exception is the iPad 2 model (CDMA model) - this tablet is considered a Cellular version, but it is deprived of a slot for the SIM card.

If, in the case of iPad Wi-Fi, the user is tied to the Wi-Fi network access point, then in the case of a "tablet with SIM", the Internet access is limited to the 3G or 4G mobile coating zone. In fact, the user, in the case of a tablet, pays for a good alternative - there is an opportunity, I used Wi-Fi, no - switched to a SIM card.

In the first two generations of Apple tablets, only 3G communication module is used, and the following models have equipped with a more "high-speed" module 4G. Since certain time, Cuppertinov replaced 4G marking on Cellular. Accordingly, the very iPad Cellular is a tablet with additional 3G and 4G modules.

External differences iPad Wi-Fi and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular

Determine on the eye where which tablet will not work. First, the iPad Cellular on the back of the case has a plastic lid of white or black. Under this lid is an antenna, which allows you to work with mobile modules. In iPad Wi-Fi such antenna, and there are no covers, respectively.

Also in iPad Wi-Fi there is no slot for SIM. In addition, tablets are distinguished with support for mobile modules using SIM-card standards. In particular, Micro-SIM is used in iPad, iPad 2, The New iPad, iPad with Retina Display; Nano-SIM in iPad Mini, iPad Mini Retina, iPad Air.

The entire above information is indicated not only for "full-format" iPad, but also for the iPad mini model.

In this small material, let's talk about not so significant but interested in many theme as Cellular. Many concerned this concept, but that specifically it means on Ipad, they still did not find out. Just for such a category of users - information below.

Choosing a tablet for subsequent acquisition, potential buyers usually compare 2 models - without the named technology, and with its presence. By the way, both types of devices include the Wi-Fi module. Immediately let's say that the differences between them are not significant. Next, let's talk about this in detail.

If you need to connect to the network from the tablet, and the user in the presence of only it, you need to find out what kind of model it is. From whether it is with Cellular or without this technology, the ability of the user in this area will depend.

In addition to cellular devices, Cellular is used to connect other types of gadgets to the network. Mobile network elements that usually work on USB connections are connected to a PC or laptop. This provides the possibility of connecting the device to the network within the coverage area of \u200b\u200bthe cellular company.

Individual company conductors are offered service plans that are allowed to apply a tablet as a portable modem. With such services, the cellular device transmits broadband signals to a laptop or other mobile device. And the latter can easily connect to the networks. And the newest iPad is able to support any high-speed networks at a completely any point of the Earth, without any problems covering the 4G LTE channels.

Built-in antenna devices can interact with signals in a wide frequency range. And this means that the connection to the networks is allowed in almost any state - wherever the user would be.

Now you know what the essence of Cellular, and you can choose the right tablet model to be in touch at any time and anywhere.

Visual differences

In addition to the significant differences in 2 variations of Apple tablets - without Cellular and with its presence, in terms of design, they also vary. Even an inexperienced buyer in appearance can distinguish one model from another.

Variation of a tablet with Cellular at the top of the rear has a black cap (and sometimes - white) shade. It is an antenna under it, with which the data acceptance and acceptance of data in 3G / 4G networks are transmitted.

The given difference is the most apparent of all in the appearance of the tablet. In the pictures below you can see everything clearly. Examine all the details carefully and you will never be mistaken in choosing an iPad model that you really need. And the recommendation for the specific variation of the tablet can only be one - of course, it is better to purchase models with Cellular. Deciding for the acquisition of a device with such a characteristic, you will be for all times about problems with the network.

Exceptions from rules

If you are the owner of the tablet with a cover on the rear panel, but it does not have a cell under the sim card - it means that your device model is the iPad 2 CDMA. Such standards are usually used in America. In Russia, they are extremely rare with them. But we most importantly understand that this gadget model does not support 3G / 4G networks.

Cost

After all of all, we also note that the differences between the tablet models with Cellular and without it not only in 3 and 4G and "appearance". The essential difference also in the price of devices. Models with Cellular stand a decent percentage more than options without it. Therefore, before you make a purchase, think carefully whether you are ready to give decent money for the advantage that you may not really need. After all, overpay for something you can never use, it is hardly worth it.

the iPad became the first truly popular tablet. Moreover, there is a suspicion that if Apple had not released iPad, the tablet market would be in the infancy. But it was worth the iPad, as the manufacturers began to produce their vision of tablets. Today, this market is huge, which is not surprising - many users of the tablets replaced the usual home computers and laptops.

Apple traditionally refuses to use the memory card slot in their mobile devices, including iPad, so it will not work expand. But the company offers several versions of the tablet, which are usually named Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular, for example, Apple iPad Mini 4 16GB Wi-Fi + Cellular. If with the first word everything is clear, what does Cellular mean?

Translated from the English Cellular means "Cellular" or "Cellular Communication", which, in general, reflects the essence - with the help of a tablet you can go online using the SIM card of the cellular telecommunications operator. Of course, the Wi-Fi + Cellular devices are somewhat more expensive than the version only with Wi-Fi. However, some analysts believe that in the future, Apple will try to abandon versions, where only Wi-Fi networks are supported. So it is or not really, we cannot say.

Since the Wi-Fi + Cellular models support cellular communication, it would be logical to assume that on the case of such a device there must be a SIM card slot. And this is true - there is a small slot that opens up familiar to Apple. That's what it looks like:

On the iPad without Cellular there is no slot.

Is there any other noticeable difference in Versions Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular? Yes, there is, and the difference is very substantial. Pay attention to the back of the housing, namely, on its upper part. If you see a plastic insert of black or white, it means that you are the Wi-Fi + Cellular version.

What is it? This simple solution greatly improves the reception of the cellular signal, since a fully metallic case does this very signal reflect.

Another distinction is in the settings, there is a "Cell data" section, if we are talking about the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

Funny fact

Users are often asked - why did Apple invented such a strange name Cellular? In fact, once such iPad was called Wi-Fi + 4G, but the company was forced to abandon the name, because at that time it was far from all countries there was support for 4G networks of the last generation, that is, users often simply could not use 4G-Internet , at best, getting a 3G connection. That was why the company decided to rename its tablets.

Now, when Apple is at the peak of glory, almost every device is long before its official announcement becomes a kind of designer of rumors and leaks, which can be independently folded all the pieces into a single whole and get an almost complete image of the final product. Moreover, both in appearance and according to the hardware components used, although without specific details. Therefore, each presentation of devices, in fact, is predominantly confirming or refutation of all previously appearing rumors. So, for example, it was with new iPhone, and also happened to the new iPad, which, however, still managed to prevent several pleasant surprises. One of them is the freshest device name -.

Supply and equipment

The tablet comes in a relative small box of dense cardboard and is characterized by traditionally attractive design with a minimum number of visual information. The front side allows you to familiarize yourself with the "portrait" of the device, and the rear - with very brief with its technical characteristics. The sidewalls caused the name of the model and several silver manufacturer logos.

The package is beautifully laid on the compartments, but it cannot be special than something special. During the unpacking process, you can find: a compact power supply unit with a removable fork, a Lightning ↔ USB cable for connecting to BP and synchronization with Mac / PC, a special clip to extract a sim card under a SIM card, several small information brochures and two logo stickers manufacturer.

Appearance, Design

The visual design of the Tablet line of the California manufacturer, unlike smartphones and media players, remained almost unchanged since 2011, when Apple officially presented a very successful second generation of iPad. From that moment on, the tablet managed to upgrade twice, but its appearance almost did not undergo changes. The situation has changed only with the advent of the "younger brother" in the form of the Apple iPad MINI model, which not only introduced fresh design ideas, but also determined the further development of the full-format version of the tablet.

As expected, the appearance of the Apple iPad AIR almost completely repeats the outlines of the mini version, only with reference to a bit of large dimensions, which, by the way, fully justify the new "AIR" console, borrowed from the laptop line. It was significantly transformed compared to the last generation, becoming thinner, more compact and easier, and its form has become more elongated and in general more neat-modern due to a significant reduction in the side frames (especially along the long side). Apple iPad AIR no longer causes strong associations with a simple square frame for photos.

The device of the device has acquired more strict design: the angles are less rounded, the verges lost their "sharpness" and became almost even, and the transition from the back to the sidewalls accepted a rather sharp outline. There was already a familiar chrome chamfer on the contour of the front panel. The color scheme of the tablet has become appropriate to the latest Apple solutions. It includes two options: Silver (Silver) and Space Gray (Space Gray), which are now varying not only by the face of the front side.

With the design side of the Apple iPad AIR has not changed any changes. The tablet is made of durable anodized aluminum, providing a high level of rigidity, and is supplemented with tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which covered the entire front side. In the 4G version of the device in the upper part of the case, you can detect a small plastic insert under which the antenna of communication modules is hidden.

The materials used leave very pleasant tactile sensations, but they have to constantly monitor their condition. The tablet is also covered by multiple points of fingers, and the aluminum "back" so also strives to leave a pair of scratches for non-accurate circulation. However, all these shortcomings are fused in comparison with the main advantage of the 5th generation of Apple tablets, namely weighing. Apple iPad Air very much dropped in this plan - only 478 grams against 662 grams from Apple iPad 4th generation. Even at the main competing model in the face of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), it is more than 544 grams, and this is despite the fact that the "galaxies" housing is made of plastic.

The quality of the assembly is traditionally at the highest level: there are neither backlash, no gaps, nor creaks when twisting and pressure in reasonable limits - everything is very well adjacent to each other. However, the glass that has become more subtle for decreasing the weight of the device is still a bit, and when tapping, it creates a peculiar deaf sound, as if the tablet inside is completely empty.

The location of all elements on the housing remains in the previous places, only the size of the control buttons changed - now they are metallic and have a slightly smaller thickness. In the top of the front side, almost completely given under 9.7-inch screen, there is a front camera with a resolution of 1.2 megapixel and an external light sensor. In the bottom - the traditional "Home" button, which, unlike Apple iPhone 5S, did not receive the Touch ID scanner.

Most of the upper face occupies a plastic insert of a black color, in the center of which there are holes of a paired microphone (the second microphone is on the back of the tablet, as in a slight extent insert itself). In addition, the power button / device lock and 3.5 mm audio jack is located on top. On the bottom, there is a corporate port of Lightning and two perforated lattices that hide stereo speakers.

The left side of the tablet remained empty, while on the right there are buttons for adjusting the volume, a small lever, the default locking of the screen orientation shift, as well as the SIM-SIM SIM card slot.

Exactly in the center of the rear side of the Apple iPad AIR can be seen a relatively large mirror logo of the manufacturer, and in the upper part of it - the main chamber with a resolution of 5 megapixel and a fragment of a plastic insert. At the bottom there is a laser application of the device name (and without the "AIR") and very brief technical information, which includes the exact name of the model, the country of production, certification marks and several identification and serial numbers.

Apple iPad Air, as the two previous generation of tablets, is equipped with a branded 9.7-inch Retina-screen, which is based on an IPS matrix with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 points. The degree of density of pixels is 264 PPI. This is quite enough for this type of devices. To protect the display, the tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is used, which has an effective anti-reflective filter and high-quality oleophobic (fat-repellent) coating. At the same time, there is an air layer between the glass and the surface of the matrix.

At first glance, all the characteristics remained unchanged, but its production technology, namely, parts of the active liquid crystal layer, has changed significantly. The relatively new IGZO technology is used (derived from the main components of India, Gallium and Zinc oxide) developed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency. In contrast to the traditional A-Si technology based on amorphous silicon, it allows not only to create transparent thin-film transistors that have much smaller dimensions, but also noticeably increase the density of the placement of pixels. It also helps to reduce the level of energy consumption due to the absence of the need to continuously update the transistor states when the static image is displayed.

In general, the display is very good and leaves exclusively pleasant impressions. The viewing angles are maximized both vertically and horizontally, and the color distortion characteristic of IPS matrices is practically absent in extreme diagonal positions. The quality of the color reproduction of the screen can please with bright colors with a natural level of their saturation, despite the extremely insignificant shift of the color temperature to the "cold" shades. Contrast level, though not recorded, but high enough and provides an acceptable display of the black field.

The backlight of the display is characterized by a highly wide range and is adjusted both manual and automatically in the way. True, there are also their features: the automation works only on the increase and does not regulate the degree of illumination when manually setting the maximum brightness level. Therefore, the most optimal solution is to install the brightness regulator at the level of 30-50%. When choosing the maximum brightness value reaching about 360 cd / m 2, you can easily work in the fresh air even under a very bright sun. With the minimum value that is about 10 kD / m 2, you can safely read your favorite books without fear of an excessive eye load. The uniformity of the backlight is good: there are very minor sites in places only at the very edge of the display.

Capacitive sensory substrate has very good sensitivity and is able to process a number of gestures familiar to the operating system without any problems. It is worth noting the very smooth slip of the finger on the protective glass. But the ability to work in gloves, even enough thin, no.

Among the settings of the display parameters is only a pair of functions: brightness adjustment and changing the background image for the desktop and the lock mode.

With the advent of Apple iPad AIR, the full-format version of the tablet finally got two stereo speakers capable of ensuring quite a tangible surround sound. True, you can only hear it in the portrait orientation of the device, since both speakers are located on the bottom facility of the case. The sound itself is loud and clean even at the maximum level. There is practically no low frequencies, but the hint of them is present. Middle and high well balanced and possess a decent detail, thanks to which you can watch and listen to music without the need to connect headphones or external speakers.

The soundtacks of the tablet are not rich. They are limited to a choice of sounds for various types of notifications and adjusting the volume level, and only for a call and reminders (the total level is adjusted using the volume control buttons or by the quick settings panel). In addition, you can enable the sound of the device blocking and clicking the keyboard. Additional parameters (like an equalizer, sound check or permissible volume limiter) can be found in the settings of the music player.

Apple iPad Air is equipped with two quite familiar cameras that have already met in previous generations of the tablet. The ISIGHT rear camera is based on a 5-megapixel module with inverse outlets of the sensor and is supplemented with a five-litical optical system with a diaphragm value F / 2.4. There is also support for a fairly fast automatic focusing and an image stabilization system (only during video recording). The maximum resolution of photos is 3264 x 2448 (5 MP) with the aspect ratio of 4: 3. Video recording is carried out in MPEG-4 format with a resolution to 1080p.

The FaceTime HD front camera is also based on the sensor inverse light module, but with a more modest resolution (only 1.2 megapixel) and a fixed focal length. The camera viewing angle is not very wide, but quite sufficient for a comfortable video link. The maximum resolution of the photo is 1280 x 960, and the video is 720p.

The camera app has a very simple and intuitive interface, however, a rich set of various functions and settings is not provided (for this you need to use third-party applications). There is only the ability to activate the HDR mode and shift the shooting mode by means of a vertical swipe - one for video shooting and two for the photo (in the 4x3 and 1x1 ratio). From the camera app, you can go to view the captured material, and through the system settings of the operating system, turn on the display of the grid when shooting.

Examples of photography

Examples of video shooting

Day shooting in motion, 1080p 30 k / s.

Day shooting, 1080p 30 k / s.

Evening shooting, 1080p 30 k / s.

The quality of the material obtained is pleasantly pleased, despite the low resolution of the module used. Photos with favorable shooting conditions are obtained sufficiently detailed and have a pleasant color reproduction. With a decrease in the level of external lighting, noises are strongly manifested and detailing significantly. A similar situation is also observed with a video, although the high-quality work of the electronic stabilization system still should be noted - a slight shaking is almost completely neutralized.

User interface

Apple iPad Air Tablet works under the control of the IOS 7 operating system, which has been drastically transformed compared to the "six", both from the visual side and from the technical side. Loved to many skewerphism with a relatively dark color range gave way to the bright, you can say "rainbow" fills and gradients. The main system font has changed - instead of the usual Helvetica, a more modern and thin Helvetica Neue Ultralight, which contributes to the concept of a new design is used.

By the way, Apple began to distribute operating system update to version 7.0.6 at the time of preparation of the review, which resolves the security problem, which occurred when checking the SSL connection.

The lock screen in iOS 7, having lost the dark stripes in the upper and lower part, began to look more neat and holistic. However, its functionality has not changed. Here are displayed: the current time and date, battery charge status, the quality of the cellular network, as well as various notifications. To unlock the device, you must implement swipe from left to right in any part of the screen, and to start the camera application, pull the corresponding icon from the bottom up.

In addition, from the lock screen, like from the main screen, swipes from the top edge, you can open the traditional notification panel, and the swipe from the bottom - finally the full-fledged panel of fast settings. With it, you can control the audio player, turn on / off the wireless data transfer modules, enter the device to "do not disturb" mode, block the display of the display orientation, run the application of the stopwatch and the camera, and control the overall volume level, the degree of display backlight and the AIRPLAY function.

The main screen that the user falls after unlocking the device, has practically not undergone functional changes in the new version of the OS, but it was very transformed visually. So, a new, more smooth and, unfortunately, a longer animation, shortcuts of system applications received completely perverted icons, the display of the folders became full-screen (no "gaps" no longer), and for background walls, you can apply the so-called parallax effect at which The main screen becomes pseudo volumetric. In addition, the Global Search Spotlight has changed the place of its deployment and to access it it is necessary to simply wake down on the main screen or any additional one.

Significantly transformed the appearance and functionality of the multitasking mode. He acquired a full-screen interface, in which running applications are displayed in the form of peculiar cards with intuitive control. Calling the mode is carried out by the usual action (four-paltant gesture or double clicking on the "Home" button), but to close the application, it is now quite easy to brush the corresponding card up.

The operating system settings menu fully retained its structure and got a few additional items.

Finally, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the additional "screenshots" of the OS.

Hardware platform and performance

Apple iPad AIR tablet hardware platform is represented by Apple A7 branded processor, the main feature of which is the use of the 64-bit architecture of the ArmV8 desktop class and the presence of a special energy efficient approximate of the Apple M7 movement for direct data processing from a gyroscope, accelerometer and digital compass. The main processor is made in accordance with the standards of the 28-nm of the HKMG technological process (HIGH-K / Metal Gate) and is equipped with two cores with a clock frequency to 1.4 GHz. The volume of L2 cache is 1 MB. The coprocessor is manufactured according to the 90-nm technological process and includes only one Cortex-M3 core (ARMV7-M) with a frequency of up to 150 MHz.

As a graphic accelerator integrated into the main processor, one of the latest decisions of Imagination Technologies - IT PowerVR G6430 with the code name "Rogue" are used. The accelerator has 4 kernels (clusters) operating with a clock frequency to 650 MHz, and supports a number of important APIs: OpenGL ES 3.0, OpenGL 3.2 and DirectX 10.0.

Despite the use of an improved processor microarchitecture, the RAM standard of the LPDDR3-1600 standard remains the same and is only 1 GB, while in some Android devices installed already 3 GB. The capacity of the built-in drive starts from a 16 GB mark (at the same time the user is available only 12.5 GB). Support for memory cards is traditionally absent, therefore, if the funds allow, it is immediately worth paying attention to the versions with a more capacious repository: 32 GB, 64 GB or even 128 GB.

The performance of the latest Apple A7 hardware platform is really very high. Using only two cores with a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz, it is able to make real competition with flagship android solutions that apply 4-nuclear or even 8-nuclear processors with clock frequencies from 1.5 GHz. Of course, such an advantage can be written off to a more productive 64-bit architecture, but also about the highest degree of IOS optimization should not be forgotten - it is still creating only a few devices with a strictly defined hardware component.

In general, Apple iPad Air works very quickly and, importantly, very smoothly. Drawing the interface and the launch of applications does not cause any complaints. As for demanding games, in single cases, there are insufficient capabilities of the tablet. For example, this happens in Dead Trigger 2, when a large number of dangerous zombies are assembled on certain cards.

With an active and long-term load, the test model begins to heat slightly (mainly along the long face), but its temperature remains in very comfortable limits. Worry for the fact that the device can be spoiled during active operation.

Communication and communication

The Apple iPad Air version (A1475) is able to please the support for the full set of mobile networks, including the fully workers on the territory of Ukraine network 2G and 3G. Unfortunately, the fourth-generation network (4G) inhabitants of our country are not yet available due to the lack of appropriate coverage. The network of the third generation continues to develop and gradually provide an increasing data transfer rate.

Thus, the fastest mobile access to the Internet in Ukraine provides the company Intertellomecom, which at the moment implemented the widest range of 3G coverage with support for EV-DO Rev.b access technology, providing maximum data transfer rate up to 14.7 Mbps (or up to 1.75 MB / s).

However, to achieve such high speed results is quite difficult even in the open sky in the city center. The maximum speed of data reception in the room was 4.5 Mbps, and sending to 2.6 Mbps. Outside the room - up to 8 Mbps on reception and about 2.5 Mbps for sending.

For greater visibility of the 3G connection speed, the archive of 142 MB from the Dropbox service was downloaded from the Dropbox service, as well as loading 10 photos taken on Apple iPad AIR to the Facebook social network. In the first case, it took 3 minutes 12 seconds, in the second - less than 5 seconds. Whatever it was, even such a speed pleases, especially in cases where there is no single Wi-Fi point near.

As for the local communication capabilities of the tablet, then they are quite standard: Bluetooth V4.0 with support for A2DP profile and dual-band (2.4 / 5 GHz) Wi-Fi with support protocols 802.11 A / B / G / N, Wi-Fi features Hotspot and the method of spatial coding of the MIMO signal. Naturally, AIRPLAY is present for wireless media transmission between devices. There is also support for DLNA and Miracast standards, but for their work requires the availability of appropriate applications. But neither the NFC module nor the built-in IR transmitter to control various household appliances in Apple iPad AIR is not.

Wi-Fi data transfer rate (100 Mbps wired connection, 802.11n support router shows very impressive results: up to 80 Mbps on reception and up to 24 Mbps. Search views and connecting to them is very quickly, and the installed connection has good stability and does not try to "disappear" when strong interference appears.

Having a GPS hardware module with support for A-GPS and GLONASS is available only in a tablet version with a built-in cellular modem, i.e. The so-called Wi-Fi + Cellular, and this should not be forgotten when choosing a device. The performance of the module is excellent, and the location of the user is defined almost instantly and quite accurately. Also perfectly operates the electronic compass, as accurately defining the part of the world.

Autonomous work

The fifth generation of full-format Apple tablets, despite the noticeably reduced capacity of the battery used (8827 mA) (32.9 watts) against 11560 mA ∙ h (43 watts) from Apple iPad 4) Saves the battery life on the previous level. In this direct merit of the more energy efficient Apple A7 hardware platform and IGZO display technology. According to the manufacturer, Apple iPad AIR is able to provide up to 10 hours of work on the Internet in Wi-Fi mode or when playing movies and music. But when accessing the Internet on the cellular network, this indicator is reduced to 9 hours.

In the real conditions, autonomous time is almost fully complied with the declared - 9.5 hours of viewing HD video when Wi-Fi is enabled and a 50% brightness of the display illumination. In the game mode, for example, when running Dead Trigger 2, the tablet is able to work for almost 4.5 hours at 100 percent screen brightness. This is a very good result, although the estimated work on Benchmarke GFXBENCH is 377 minutes, i.e. just over 6 hours. The time of complete battery charging is traditionally slow and is about 4 hours.

If we talk about real daily operating conditions with the performance of different tasks, Apple iPad Air is able to live without any problems for two to three days. If it is used only for sofa Internet surfing for several hours a day, it is quite possible to count on a week of its work from one battery charge.

RESULTS

AppleiPad.Air. You can rightly name one of the best tablets on the market, and both from the visual component, which finally received the expected updated design, almost completely copied with Apple iPad Mini and from the hardware platform, in the almost full composition of the apple iPhone 5S.

The tablet has become much ergonomic, more compact, thinner and easier. True, for this, the manufacturer had to be slightly sacrifice the battery capacity and use a more subtle protective glass, which at a pressure begins to noticeably fuse, and with a slight tapping, create a slightly unpleasant deaf sound. This is somewhat discouraged, because the rest of the device is almost perfect. It is present: a wonderful 9.7-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 points, which is based on the energy efficient IGZO technology and provides a very high display quality; One of the most productive mobile platforms, which is represented by the 64-bit dual-core Apple A7 processor with the Apple M7 movement coprocessor, as well as the capacious battery, providing about 9-10 hours of autonomous operation. In addition, the tested model with the A1475 index may please the full support for the 3G and 4G mobile communication (only the third generation is available on the territory of Ukraine) with a sufficiently good data transfer rate, which we have seen, tested the service from the InterTelecom operator.

There are no significant flaws in Apple iPad AIR, and those that are more subjective. For example, the traditional lack of memory card support or the lack of a Touch ID scanner. A much more important issue in the process of choosing a tablet can be either its value, which in our country is very significant (on average from 7000 UAH / $ 730 per 4G version (Wi-Fi + Cellular) with 16 GB of integrated memory), or personal hostility Apple products and the closedness of the IOS 7 operating system encouraging the acquisition of legal content (music, movies, magazines and applications).

Advantages:

  • updated appearance: easier, thin, compact;
  • wonderful build quality, high body rigidity;
  • excellent display with reduced side frames;
  • production hardware platform - Apple A7 with Apple M7 coprocessor;
  • full-fledged support for mobile 3G and 4G;

Anton of Nizhnekamsk I decided to purchase the iPad tablet, but until you can decide on the choice of which to take a big iPad or small (mini). In addition, when studying the available models, he ran into a term - Cellularand decided to write to us:

Please tell us what Cellular is in the iPad and the such tablet differs from the cheap iPad Wi-Fi model. Externally, they seem to be the same.

Indeed, externally, all iPad tablets are similar to each other, but the iPad Wi-Fi and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular are characterized by both external elements and internal components. In order for Anton to make his right choice, we will tell, what the same tablet models differ from each other.

What is Cellular in iPad and what it differs from Wi-Fi

Let's start from the very beginning and in order, from the moment the appearance of the iPad tablets, they all shared not only in terms of memory and color, but also by communication modules. Less expensive iPad Wi-Fi line for Internet access is used only by Wi-Fi communication module. That is, you can use the Internet services only if there is a Wi-Fi access point (such points are installed both at home and public places). IPAD tablets without Wi-Fi does not happen. To view the price difference between Cellular iPad and the usual model, you can familiarize yourself with the price of the iPad tablets recently.

More expensive iPad tablets are equipped with not only the Wi-Fi module, but also an additional mobile module, such tablets can be played as follows -

iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iPad Wi-Fi + LTE, iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular. The difference is only in the terminology of technical points - 3G, 4G, LTE and Cellular. In common, about such a model of the tablet say - iPad with a SIM card.

Symamom tablets have the ability to connect to the Internet not only in places where there are Wi-Fi access points, but also in the 3G or 4G mobile coating zone. That is, the user with such a tablet is not tied to points, it is tied to the zone where there is a signal, as in a cell phone, in this, and there is an advantage of such models with two communication modules - inserted SIM and the Internet is always with you, found Wi- Fi-point and also go to the Internet.

In the first and second iPad, the 3G communication module is used, starting from the 3rd generation (The New iPad), the tablets began to support not only 3G, but also more speed 4G. Recently, Apple has ceased to use the term "4G" in the tablet calls, "Cellular" is now used instead. So if you take the iPad Cellular, then you know - it supports 3G and 4G networks of mobile operators. Unfortunately, 4G high-speed networks are not everywhere, while they are under development.

Visual difference iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular from iPad Wi-Fi

Recommending what Cellular means to iPad, we suggest to consider visual differences from tablet models only with the Wi-Fi module. The first difference is an antenna.

If you look at the back cover of the iPad C 3G or Cellular, then at the top you will see a black or white plastic cover, an antenna is under it that allows you to work with mobile communication modules. In a simple iPad model Wi-Fi plastic insert.

In the iPad Wi-Fi Simka do not insert, and in the iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular there is a tray to install SIM-cards. Depending on the iPad tablet model with mobile communication module, various SIM card standards can be used:

  • Micro-SIM - iPad, iPad 2, The New iPad, iPad with Retina Display
  • Nano-Sim - iPad Mini, iPad Mini Retina, iPad Air

If you have already inserted SIM-ku, but decided to temporarily disable the Internet mobile operator, it is not necessary to retrieve it, it is possible to disable GPRS, 3G or 4G in the settings.

So we figured out what Cellular means in iPad tablets. We hope that this post will help to make the decision of Anton and understand the iPad tablets to many other readers. By the way, everything described above is applicable both to the "large" iPad tablet and the "younger" iPad mini, which also gained Cellular instead of 4g.
