SYMA X8C is a big budget quadcopter for Gopro! Conclusion about this model

Greetings to all readers, and especially fans of radio-controlled models. Today I will tell you about a relatively new quadcopter model from the well-known syma company. I will tell you in detail about everything under cat.

A bit of history

The first quadcopter that I learned to fly was HongTai F805C (in fact, it is an analogue of Syma x5c). I really liked this device, despite the fact that it is light, it flew calmly against the wind and had good survivability. He proved his strength through numerous crashes. In control, he was very obedient, he reacted gently and clearly to all commands, in other words - this bird was created for inexperienced pilots, which forgives all piloting mistakes. Some time passed, having mastered all the basics of control, I wanted to buy a larger bird for aerial photography, so that I could attach an action camera to it and let it fly into the sky. I didn’t have the funds to buy a copter with BC motors, so I began to consider options with cheaper collectors. Studying the offers of manufacturers, I realized that you can’t really choose anything for cheap here, the only acceptable choice for me is to take Syma X8C. But I didn't take it because bad camera Why pay more for the same thing? And you will also need to buy a suspension, and this is again money ... And its weight in flight will also have to be taken into account, which means buying a larger battery, since it will fly less and an extra load on the motors. As a result, I postponed the purchase for a couple of months until it appeared on sale new model X8G. There, the camera got better, and a simple but still suspension was present. Placed an order and paid. This is what the box looks like:

Delivery was carried out by Swedish post and took some 56 days ... The parcel did not have enough one day to be delivered before the new year, I had to wait another 4 days. Everything came safe and sound, the box was packed in a standard gray pimply bag.

In the kit we have: the quadcopter itself, a control panel, a camera with a gimbal, a battery, a set of 4 spare blades, protection for screws, a 3.5mm wire, a charger, a 4GB flash drive, spare mounts, a screwdriver, a card reader and instructions in English.

Specifications

Model: Syma X8G
Number of channels: 4
Control frequency: 2.4GHz
Flight duration: 10-15 minutes
Battery: 7.4V 2000mAh Lipo
Battery charging time: about 3.5 hours
Camera: 8MP fullHD
Reception distance: about 100 meters
Material: Plastic
Color: Gray
Dimensions: 50x50x19 cm
Weight: about 600 grams
Additional functions: Headless mode, photo\video.

The quadcopter looks quite impressive, however, like all its previous models, so it’s impossible to fly on it in an apartment. I advise everyone to be careful when launching in the area near any objects or near a large crowd of people, as high speed propellers can cause damage in a collision. The noise of the engines during operation is very loud, it attracts the attention of others, so spying will not work and spying is generally not good :). The case is made of durable plastic, withstands any drops, but I don’t think the gray color best solution, because in cloudy weather the sky is already gray, even despite the bright LEDs, it can be lost from sight at high altitude

The size of the screws is 23 centimeters (9.06"). On the front axles, as on other similar models, we have stickers in red and blue

The engine compartment, and the plugs for securing the screw protection are similar to previous models. The LEDs are under protective glass red in front and green in back.

An HD camera is looking at us from the front, it is the size of ordinary action cameras, only a couple of millimeters larger on the sides. Any GoPro type camera will fit into this mount, the only caveat is that it will hang out a little. Treatment - stick a small piece of double-sided tape on the side, or fold a small piece of paper in half to cover these millimeters.

The camera is attached to the copter with a standard latch, the memory card compartment, as we can see, is located on the side, next to the compartment we see a 720/1080p switch. The memory card has a capacity of 4GB, which is enough for about 1 hour of shooting at 1080p. There are also two holes for buttons on the mount, this is made specifically for other cameras, you just have to turn it over for this. The camera does not have its own battery, so it depends on the battery of the copter itself, it is connected accordingly with a 3.5mm audio cable. The disadvantage of this mount is the inability to adjust the tilt angle, it is, but very small due to the rubber gasket that protects the camera from vibration in flight.

This is what an HD camera looks like separately from the mount, it shoots in quality like a budget action camera like sj4000. You can evaluate the shooting by watching the video at the end of the review. It is a pity that a battery was not installed in it, otherwise it could be used as an action camera. Weight with fastening - 58 grams.

dismemberment

In the battery compartment we hide a two-jar lithium battery 7.4V with a capacity of 2000mAh. As in older models, this compartment is large and you can install a larger battery in it. The main thing is that the wires fit and are easily removed. Unlike older models, in this battery are connected by a round connector. Very inconvenient, it is difficult to remove, you look like you will tear off the wire. I recommend buying T-connectors and soldering the ends

The native battery fits well into the compartment, but as you can see, there is still a lot of space for installing additional equipment. In the near future, I plan to install an antenna and maybe cut a couple of ribs for a large battery.

And this is what the battery looks like. The blue imax type charger fills it with more than 2300mAh. I recommend charging it to them, otherwise, while you charge your relatives, six months will pass. I will not post photos of my native charger, they are similar to the old models. Battery weight - 110 grams.

Control

As with all quadcopters of this type, the remote control operates at a frequency of 2.4GHz, the reception radius declared by the manufacturer is about 100 meters. If the connection is lost, the motors are turned off at the copter and it falls like a stone down, if the connection is re-established, the control will return automatically. In order to fly a long distance, it is better to install an antenna from any router, since the native antenna of the receiver is short and its reception range is no more than 100-150 meters. The control keys are similar to the models of the X8 line. In order not to paint which keys are responsible for what, I post photos from the store below. Who does not understand what the levers at the bottom (left and right) are responsible for, and on the sides of the sticks are trimers, except for the left one, it is responsible for photo / video. Shift up - takes a photo, shift down - starts the video. Sliding down again stops shooting.

Simple trimming tips: if it drifts to the right, you need to press the left side of the trimmer, which is located under the right stick. If it blows forward, press the top of the trimmer, which is located to the left of the right stick, and so on. Adjustment is recommended to be carried out in flight to immediately see the result.

The control panel is held comfortably in the hands, in the lower part in the center there is a display without backlight. At the back is a battery compartment for 4x AA batteries, and more niches for two batteries for a spare.

Conclusion about this model

The Syma X8G quadcopter made me very happy. Excellent handling despite its heavy weight and impressive size. Although the motors are collector, they cope with their task with a bang. The second main advantage I want to call a new camera with a suspension. The quality of the shooting good level, not like on old models, but the gimbal is very light, you can install any action camera like GoPro or SJ in it and thus you will not overload it with other heavy gimbal, collect something and use aquabox. It will take longer to fly a quadric with a different camera, since it will not be powered by its own battery, and the difference in weight between the native and, for example, sj4000 is only 20 grams! With my native camera, I flew off for almost 13 minutes, and if you insert a larger battery? .. By the way, such a suspension is already sold separately.

Outcome

Appearance, copy of Phantom
+ Great thrust despite the K-motors
+ 2000mAh battery, up to 15 minutes flight time
+ New camera with light suspension
- No charging, takes a very long time
- Camera without battery, cannot be used as an action

The quadcopter is definitely worth the money, because in the kit you get not only a reliable and easily controlled device, but also good camera with a universal suspension, the price difference is not very big. And if you don't need a camera, you can buy the X8C or X8W and buy the gimbal separately, it only costs $4.

The product was purchased with my own money, with a discount provided by the store. Rule 18.6

Good day!

Today my review will be devoted to a large and weighty quadcopter - Syma, model X8C.
This aircraft can lift a Gopro\Sjcam into the air without any problems in a sealed box, and on this moment This is one of the cheapest quadcopters on sale, which can be used normally for aerial photography.
How successful this model- this and much more can be viewed and read under cut.

As soon as the weather was sunny and clear, I started flying and testing the Syma X8C without hesitation.

If speak about appearance This quadrocopter is an almost complete copy of the Phantom, and given its weight, you can’t call it a toy at all. Now on sale there are 2 colors of this model: orange and white. The orange quad looks really cool.

And now about everything in order. Delivery was carried out by EMS and took 5-6 days.
The packaging is absolutely standard for this store. A box with a quadcopter in a yellow ribbon. The dimensions of the box are quite impressive.

Description and characteristics of Syma X8C:
Brand: Syma
Model: X8C
Number of channels: 4
Control frequency: 2.4GHz
Flight time: 10-12 minutes
Time required to charge: about 200 minutes
Battery: 7.4V 2000mAh Lipo
Transmitter power: 4 x AA batteries
Reception range: ~100 meters.
Material: Plastic
Color: Orange, White
Dimensions: 50 x 50 x 19 cm
Weight: about 600 grams
Add. Functions: Headless mode, photo\video.

The Syma X8C quadcopter has serious dimensions and the revolutions of the propellers of such a quadcopter can cause damage upon impact. Keep this in mind when using the quad near some objects. The noise during operation is quite loud and intimidating.

What's Included:
1 x Quadcopter
1 x Remote control
1x Camera
2 x screws
4 x Screw protection
4 x Legs
1 x USB cable
1 x Battery
1 x Memory card
1 x Card Reader
1 x Screwdriver
1 x Instruction.

Let's take a closer look at the quadcopter. The body of the device is made of durable plastic.

The propellers are 23.6cm (9.2"). There are red and blue decals on the two front axles.

Engine compartment and screw protection mounting plug.

The LEDs on the beams are covered with a transparent cover. The LEDs are orange on the front and green on the back.

In front you can see the camera, which in its shape resembles a webcam :)

The camera has a large angle of inclination and is attached to the copter with a latch. At the back of the camera there is a slot for a memory card. Power is supplied via a standard 3.5mm audio jack.

Battery cover.

On the bottom of the quadcopter there is an ON / OFF button and a connector for connecting the camera.

The battery compartment contains a large 7.4V 2000mAh lithium battery, while the place allows you to install a larger battery, for example, 2200mAh fits normally, but in this case the compartment lid will not close.

Inside the quadcopter there is a small control board and a lot of free space that can be used to install a larger battery or additional equipment.

The total weight of the quadcopter is 587 grams + 22 grams of propeller protection.

Let's move on to the control panel. It operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, the declared flight range is about 100m.
If the connection is lost, the quadric turns off the motors and falls down, if the connection is re-established, the control will return automatically. If you accidentally turn off the power when the quad is in the air - you can quickly turn the equipment back on and perform a standard unlock with the left stick up / down. In this case, control of the quadrocopter will be returned. I do not advise you to fly away for a long distance, the receiver antenna is small in size and the operating range is not more than 150 meters.
Key assignment:
left stick- gas / turn. right stick- Tilt forward/backward/left/right. On the sides of the sticks are trimmers to adjust the tilt in different directions. Top left button changes the Lo\Hi costs, and a long hold turns on the mode headless, in which it doesn’t matter which side the quad is to the pilot - it will be controlled as if it were turned back. Very useful mode for newbies. Works great, for its correct use you need make a small start. Before takeoff, you need to position the quad directly in front of the pilot, orange LEDs forward, green LEDs back. After that, turn on the equipment and perform activation with the left stick up / down. Now, at any time, you can turn on the Headless mode and the quad will be controlled as if it is always turned back to the pilot, as during the start. Right top button is responsible for performing the flip. To do this, hold it in flight and move the right stick in any direction.
The gyroscope is calibrated by shifting both sticks to the left / down. Resetting the operation of the headless mode magnetic sensor is done by shifting both sticks to the right / down.
Standard trim tips:
If it blows to the right - press the left side of the trimmer, which is located under the right stick, blows forward - press the top of the trimmer, which is located to the left of the right stick, and so on. This procedure must be carried out in flight in order to immediately see the result.
The button located to the right of the left stick is responsible for controlling the camera. Shift up - takes a photo, down - starts / stops the video.

The equipment is powered by 4 x AA batteries, although there is space for two more.

Remote control weight 367 grams with batteries.

In the center is a small display without backlight.

Let's move on to accessories:
Camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels. Learn more about recording quality in testing.

A 4Gb memory card is included, as well as a card reader for it.

Camera weight 27 grams.

Charger 10V - 750mAh. The charge time of the complete battery is about 200 minutes.

A lithium battery marked 7.4V 1800 mAh, although imax steadily fills it with > 2300mah.

Weight - 108 grams, uses a T-Connector.

Spare screw kit (4 pcs) + screw protection (4 pcs). The plastic protection is quite durable, I think it will do its job perfectly.

Instruction in English.

Testing.
I have not had such a quadcopter yet, so I decided to completely disassemble it.
The quadrocopter is lifted into the air by 4 decent-sized commutator motor.

They have a connector, you can replace a damaged motor with a new one without the help of a soldering iron.

The screws are driven through a plastic gear, while there is no usual bearing on the axis.

The size of the motor is almost 2 times larger compared to the collector motor from Wltoys V262\V666\Tarantula X6 quadcopters, etc.

The weight of one motor is 32 grams.

Screw fastening method.

Screw protection fastening method.

Large board with powerful keys to control the motors.

LED and motor connector.

Camera connector.

Camera according to the manufacturer, it has a resolution of 2Mpx, but in my opinion it pulls no more than 0.3Mpx. Also, having disassembled it, the camera turns into a standard camera from Syma X5c.

An example of a video recording from a camera. Roller Features:
Video: MJPG 1280x720 30fps Audio: PCM 22050Hz mono 352kbps

Examples of photos from the camera.

Photos in flight:

With a Gopro 3 installed in a waterproof box, it flies normally, but you need to beware of strong winds, as the quadcopter has decent windage. The total flight weight is about 800 grams, of which the Gopro in the box and with the mount weighs ~ 220 grams.

Flight examples quadcopter Syma X8c:

Video from Gopro, Mobius cameras installed on Syma X8c:

unpacking the parcel, short review and comparison
with similar models (Wltoys V666, Tarantula X6).

Personal experience and conclusion on this model:
The Syma X8c quadcopter has an "adult" size, a lot of weight, but at the same time it is lifted into the air by collector motors. In this case, the manufacturer made a compromise. Of course, it was possible to install BC motors with regulators here, but the cost would have risen by $ 50-80.
So far I have nothing bad to say about this model. The motors are 2 times larger than those of Wltoys V262\V666 quadcopters of the same class, etc. The battery is used with a capacity of 2000 mAh - this makes it possible to get 12-14 minutes of flight weight without a camera, 11-12 minutes with a native camera and 10 minutes with Gopro camera in a box, with a total weight of ~200 grams. You can install a battery with a larger capacity, I tried to take off with a heavy battery with a capacity of 5300 mAh - in principle it flies normally, but I consider 2000-3000 mAh to be the most effective capacity for this model.
Outcome:
+ Cool appearance, very similar to the legendary Phantom!
+ Big thrust, stock up to 200 grams, stable flight, like on rails.
+ Battery 2000mAh 2s - 10-14 minutes of flight depending on the load.
+ Complete set.
- The camera remains the same, from the Syma X5c model.
- Complete charging works very slowly, on full charge takes almost 3.5 hours. I advise you to charge using IMAX - with a current of 2A (1 hour).
My opinion is that this quad will definitely find its buyer, since at the moment it simply has no analogues in terms of price and power reserve!

Quadcopter Syma X8SW is a model entry level and is suitable for both children and adults. We can assume that this is one of the most successful options for buying among budget quadcopters. The model combines small cost, beautiful appearance and availability useful features for management. Outwardly, the quadrocopter resembles the DJI Phantom 3 standart line, similarities can be found not only in color and shape, but also in color. The control panel is also somewhat reminiscent of DJI equipment. You can buy a quadrocopter for beginners Syma X8SW in our store website

Video review Syma X8SW

Flight preparation Syma X8SW

The big advantage of the drone is the ease of assembly and preparation for flight. All removable components are very easy to mount. The legs of the quadrocopter are fixed on the latches in 10 seconds. The screw protection, which is also included in the kit, is also installed on the model within a few seconds. The screw fastening mechanism has also been improved. Now the screws have become easier to put on and the design itself has become more reliable.

Control Syma X8SW

The quadcopter comes fully equipped and ready to fly right out of the box. Due to its lightness and powerful engines, the drone has good lifting power. Quadcopter control will be clear even to a beginner. The optimal weather conditions for flying on this quadcopter are calm weather and light wind. In strong winds, entry-level quadcopters can chatter in flight, which will interfere with their control. Approximate flight time is 10 minutes. The duration of the flight is also affected by weather conditions. In winter, at zero temperature, the flight time is sharply reduced due to the cooling of the battery. The distance to which you can safely fly is 70 meters. In this case, the picture from the quadrocopter will be transmitted without interference. The transmission of the picture is also affected by the presence of interference created by various buildings and devices, power lines. This must be taken into account during the flight.

For ease of control, especially for beginners, the quadrocopter has an activation of the "HEADLES MODE"

The fact that Syma X8C quadcopter reviews are 90% positive will cease to be surprising as soon as you get to know this device better. Budget, large, functional - that's keywords reviews for Syma X8C quadcopter. Is this so, and what is this copter in reality - we will understand below.

General information about Syma X8C quadcopter

Although the copter belongs to the “economy” price segment, this does not prevent it from having the set of functions necessary for exciting flights.

Here it is worth mentioning that for a relatively small fee you get a device, all the details of which are made with high quality.

This model has several modifications: Syma X8C and Syma X8C Venture. Their functionality is exactly the same, and they differ only in color solutions. So, you can get the classic white and black version or the bright orange.

In terms of its design, this drone model is another almost identical copy of the Phantom - the same rounded shapes, smooth grooves and colored stripes at the ends of the rays, near the propellers.

Just like most quadcopter models, the X8C has LED flight warning lights - thanks to them you will understand where the front of the copter is and where the back is, and also do not lose sight of your drone at night. This model also has an upper backlight that completely duplicates the lower one.

Drone propellers rotate at a speed of up to 2,000 thousand revolutions per minute, which means they are a source of increased danger. That is why the developers have added shrouds to protect the propeller screws.

They are needed both to protect the pilot and those around him from possible injuries, and to protect the copter itself from hitting walls and falling. Experienced pilots advise wearing shrouds only when flying indoors or in crowded areas, in large open areas they should be removed to increase the maneuverability of the device.

Due to its dimensions - 500 millimeters both in width and length and 200 millimeters in height - X8C gives the impression of a massive and impressive device. By the way, between the axes it has a distance of 350 millimeters. As mentioned above, despite the price, you will not find marriage or flaws in the appearance of the drone, all its details are made soundly.

The quality of workmanship is also evidenced by the fact that all the mechanisms vital for the copter are tightly closed and protected from dust, dirt and even moisture. So, each drive gearbox, located at the end of each beam, is securely closed with a cover.

A sixth of the total weight of the drone - 100 grams - is the battery. It is in X8C lithium-ion, two-jar, 7.4 V and has a capacity of 2000 mAh. The battery is not very powerful, but it is enough for the quadcopter to quickly cut through the air for 10-15 minutes. A fairly high rise - about 90 meters - is provided by collector engines, not the best option, but according to reviews, it is enough for about 100-150 flights.

The collector engine is the cheapest of modern motors for r / a models. In addition, it is small in size, so it is installed on small or even micro quadrocopters made of price segment"economy". However, due to its price, it has a number of disadvantages - rapid overheating, rapid wear of the motor itself and its parts, low power.

It should be noted that all Syma X8C motors are completely removable, which means that you can replace a broken part yourself, saving on expensive repairs at service centers.

The quality of flights is also affected by the fact that Syma X8C has a built-in stabilization system that works on 6 axes. It consists of a three-axis gyroscope and an accelerometer with the same number of axes.

The presence of such a “stuffing” allows Syma to flip in the air without losing orientation along the horizon.

Flips - multiple horizontal rotations of the quadrocopter around its axis.

The drone is controlled exclusively from the remote control remote control. Signals from the transmitter to the receiver are sent over 4 channels at a frequency of 2.4 GHz.

The frequency of 2.4 gigahertz is used on almost all modern radio-controlled models. The only exceptions are models that communicate using infrared rays. It is this frequency that allows you to launch your drone in open areas without fear of losing connection.

An unmanned vehicle can move away from the signal source at a distance of about 200 meters, further flight is made only at the pilot’s fear and risk, since in the event of a final signal loss, the drone will simply crash to the ground in an unknown place. In case you feel like you're losing control of the drone, the Syma X8C has a solution - the Return Home feature.

Thanks to the built-in GPS system, the copter remembers the initial departure point and, when the “Go Home” function is turned on, returns to the makeshift base. A fair remark is the fact that this function will only work when the copter has sufficient charge. Otherwise, it will also crash.

Control of Syma X8C is absolutely the same as on 95% of models of four-rotor drones: climb and power signals are sent from the remote control. You can also perform maneuvers in the form of slopes or rolls.

A distinctive feature of Syma X8C from younger models is its increased carrying capacity. Manufacturers declared it equal to 200 grams, but some users managed to lift the copter into the air and with a large weight - up to 430 grams.

Camera

The letter C in the name of the copter model means that the drone is equipped with a camera. This fact brings additional joy, especially if you remember. The fact that it's removable rather than built-in gives owners the freedom to install professional optics that are weight compatible with the quad.

In terms of its characteristics, the copter camera resembles an average HD webcam. The resolution of the optics is two-megapixel, the video is shot at a frequency of 30 frames per second. All materials are recorded on a memory card, the volume of which, included in the kit, is 4 gigabytes.

Although the camera has a built-in microphone, it is better to remove the sound during video editing - the X8C has very noisy motors that make a lot of noise when recording. In addition, due to the camera angle, the “legs” of the drone will fall into the frame.

The appearance of the camera, like the drone itself, is stylized as the Phantom family, however, upon parsing, it turns out that the optics are the same as those of the X5C.

An example of a video shot by the camera of this copter model can be seen below.

Syma X8C - for beginners

This quadcopter - and indeed all Syma devices with the exception of nano-drones - is recommended for beginners, as it meets all the criteria. Firstly, it is relatively cheap - you must admit, for the first flights it is better to choose a drone for 7 thousand than for 70, since the possibility of a fatal crash is high.

Secondly, it has all the functionality inherent in semi-professional and professional quadcopters - on this model, a novice pilot will accurately master all the basics of piloting techniques.

And thirdly, the presence of a camera will make it clear whether it is worth spending money on quadcopters with professional optics in the future.

And since the X8C is considered one of the drones for beginners, here are some tips for novice pilots.

  • Practice outdoors. Firstly, this way you will reduce the risk of injury both for those around you and for the quadcopter itself. And secondly, understand the real behavior of the drone in the air.
  • High airspeed increases the risk of a critical fall. So start flying at low power.
