Works at any frequency

Developing Extra II, the manufacturer focused on functionality. Inside the router is hidden inexpensive, but a reliable SOC MediaTek MT7628 chip with one core, operating at a frequency of 580 MHz. There are 16 MB flash memory and 128 MB of RAM. At first glance, it may seem that such a filling is not able to cope with high-speed connection, but NAT and VPN software accelerators come to the "help".

Four antennas allow us to share a network into two segments: part of the connected devices will be able to operate at frequencies in the range of 2.5 GHz (in the range of 300 Mbps), and more modern gadgets equipped with a module 802.11As - in the 5 GHz range (up to 867 Mbps / s). In these ranges, the device supports up to 16 non-passing channels, so that the gadget features allow you to configure the third or even fourth network, especially for guests to access local resources to be closed, and you can only use the Internet.

The WAN port is capable of maintaining speed up to 100 Mbps and this is quite enough for a comfortable online viewing of films in high quality.

Interface for setting step by step

All router management occurs through the NDMS 2.08 operating system and via the Web interface. The primary setting is extremely simple - the installation wizard already has in its "memory" step-by-step guides on the most popular methods of settings. So the user remains only to choose a convenient manual. The remaining settings algorithms can be found on the site - many of them manufacturer even supplied with screenshots.

In the latest versions of the firmware, a schedule appeared - for example, you can configure the time of the interfaces or restrict the access of certain devices.

Modes are also provided for using a router as an amplifier of a signal or adapter (in which case, you can connect up to five devices to Keenetic Extra II). For each used setup mode, it is saved, so that they can be subsequently reused.

Additional functionality can be added to the Internet center as components. Among the existing components have Network filters Yandex.dns and Skydns, protecting the network from unnecessary sites.

Keenetic Extra II is one of the most affordable routers in the Zyxel line, its price at the start of sales does not exceed only 4000 rubles. However, the device demonstrates more than good performance. The user who acquires this model for the house is probably like the ease of all settings and the ability to solve any network task. The main focus was made to work in the range of 5 Hz, so the router is able to provide an uninterrupted Internet signal even on the most demanding devices.
