Waiting and holding a call on a megaphone. Overview of the “Call Hold” service in MegaFon Megafon call and contact management disable

What is call hold Megafon? “Call Hold/Waiting” is a special option that allows you to always stay in touch and not miss significant and important calls. In fact, this function opens a second line on which the second subscriber waits for a connection while you communicate with the first. If you wish, you can switch the line to a new incoming call or drop the call. More detailed information on the service is presented below.

Features of the “Call Hold” service on Megafon

First, let's understand the terminology:

  1. “Call Waiting” mode is when, while communicating on the phone, a subscriber is waiting for you on the second line.
  2. “Hold” mode is when you, while communicating with a subscriber, dial the second line, thereby sending the first interlocutor to wait.

The Megafon “Hold/Wait” service offers two modes. That is, you can independently manage both incoming and outgoing calls.

Without this function, you will not be able to answer an important call if you are communicating, for example, with friends. While with the option activated, you will not miss a single incoming call received on your phone.

The option will inform you about an incoming call as follows:

  • The backlight of the smartphone will turn on;
  • you will hear a characteristic bell sound;
  • The number and name of the calling interlocutor will be displayed on the screen.

In addition, you can switch lines yourself and call several interlocutors at once. This is very convenient, for example, if you urgently need to clarify some information, but the conversation on the first line is also no less significant.

To make a call during an ongoing connection, simply open your phone book and select the desired recipient. If you know the other person's phone number by heart, enter it into the dialing menu. Immediately after this, the first line will be put into waiting status.

The cost of the service is 1 ruble per day. For clients on All Inclusive tariffs, the option is provided free of charge.

The function is available for connection on all Megafon tariff plans. By the way, if you have a separate “Call Waiting” option on your phone, you won’t have to pay for it, since it is included in the standard set of all TV system TPs.

There is no need to activate “Call Hold”, since this function is already present on any Megafon tariff by default. If for some reason the option does not work, go to the settings of your device and uncheck the “Prohibit call holding” checkbox. You can also remove the ban by sending USSD * 520 #.

You can configure the Waiting function in several ways:

  1. In the menu of your cellular device. To do this, go to the system settings of your gadget, select the “Call Settings” tab and click the “Enable” button next to the desired mode.
  2. In your Personal Account. To do this, go to your page and select the “Services” category. Next, select the “Hold/Call Waiting” option from the list and press the “Enable” key.
  3. Through a system request. Dial the digital combination * 43 # on your mobile phone and press the “Call” button.

You can disable the option in several ways (all described methods are suitable for disabling both modes):

  1. Through your personal account. To do this, go to the “Manage my services” section and uncheck unnecessary functionality.
  2. USSD command. Dial the digital code * 520 # on your phone and press the “Call” button.
    Hotline Megafon. Call 0500, and after connecting, ask the operator to remove this option from your SIM card.

If you need this function again in the future, the ban can be removed using any of the methods described above.

Call Waiting/Hold is a useful feature when you want to always be available for incoming calls. You won't miss important calls if you have a second line on your number; by holding a call on one of them, you can answer or make calls from the other. This is convenient, but few people understand this function. To understand how to use it and how to connect it, see our review.

What is the Call Waiting/Hold service?

This function has two purposes:

  • Call waiting on a phone happens when a person calls you on a second line and waits for you to answer after ending the conversation with the first;
  • A call is put on hold when you are on a call on the first line, put the call on hold and make a call from the second line.

The “Waiting” and “Hold” services operate in one option from MegaFon.

Why an additional service if you can call in standard mode and call back after busy tones. But the option becomes a lifesaver when you have a heavy load on your phone and don’t want to miss an important call. If an important contact calls a “busy” number, he may simply not call back, and you will not know who wanted to call.

When the “Wait/Hold” option is enabled, you will hear call tones on the second line while talking.

For convenience and clarity, during the second call the phone’s screen will flash and it will be written which number is calling.

Once you hear an important call, you can press Wait for the first line and answer the second. If you don't want to answer right away, you can reject the call or hang up for both. In this case, you need to press the corresponding buttons on the phone menu. The first time it is difficult, you can confuse the commands and reject both calls at once.

When a problem arises and you need to urgently solve it over the phone without breaking the connection with the interlocutor, you use the “Call Hold” service. You press the "Hold" button and dial another contact's number manually or from the list on your phone.

Remember that when talking on two lines at the same time, you can switch between calls by pressing the corresponding menu buttons.

Now regarding payment for the service. “Call waiting” is provided by the operator free of charge for everyone, and “Hold” has a monthly fee of 1 ruble, it must be activated separately. This option is fully available to subscribers of “All Inclusive” tariff plans. There is no need to pay anything extra.

Call Hold connection for MegaFon subscribers

You need to learn a few simple commands to connect "Wait/Hold". To set the call hold option, you must enter the following combination: *43# and call. In the “Call Settings” section of the phone itself there is a special item for holding. "Waiting" will be set by default. Perhaps your phone has a ban on holding calls, then you need to remove it by entering *520# and the call.

How to disable Call Hold from MegaFon

If the option is not needed, it can be removed by entering the command #43#. Subscribers also have access to the settings of the phone itself.

The option from MegaFon, which allows you to hold a call, is a basic service on any tariff plan. It’s called “Call Hold”. Its use provides a number of specific advantages to subscribers. For example, mobile clients can not only carry on a conversation, but also immediately make other calls during it or switch between different interlocutors. This allows you to communicate with two people at once.

This service was created to save money. Since customers can make a call at the same time as an already active one, this will save money that could be spent on the first minute of the call. This option is very beneficial if the tariff plan you are using includes a high payment for the first minutes of communication.

More details about the service

Using the Call Hold service is very simple. While communicating with one person, you should press the “2” button on the phone keyboard and then the call key. Then you have to select the phone number of the person you want to call and press call again. Thus, the first person will be on hold. To switch to the first interlocutor and return to the conversation, you just need to press the “1” key and make a call. Thus, the conversation with the second subscriber will be terminated, and the first will be on the line again.

In order for both interlocutors to remain on the line when switching between them, press the “2” key. In addition, the option can be controlled simply by looking at the phone screen. It displays tips that will allow you to use the option without remembering combinations.

The Call Hold service can be used by all MegaFon subscribers, regardless of which tariff plan is activated.

Since the service is considered standard, there is no charge for connecting or disconnecting it. Also, when switching to a new tariff or purchasing a new starter package, you do not have to activate the option; it is activated automatically. But if necessary, it can be deactivated. To find out more detailed information about the service, the subscriber can use his phone by going to the settings and finding the call hold item.

The cost of using the option has recently changed. Previously, the option was provided free of charge, but now customers will need to pay 1 ruble per retention. The only exception is considered to be clients who use a tariff plan from the “ ” family. For such subscribers, use of the service will be free.

It is also worth noting that you don’t have to pay for the service if you use bonuses from MegaFon. That is, if a client participates in the MegaFon-Bonus program, he can spend his points to pay for various services. One of them is “Call Hold for Points”. To activate such a service, you should enter the service combination *115*8101# . After dialing, you must press the call button. You can also connect to the service by sending a text message. You will need to write the numbers 8101 in the body of the letter. To send, use the number 5010.

How to connect

Since the option is basic, it does not provide a large list for activation. After all, it turns on automatically. If it so happens that the function is disabled, then you can enable it using the following methods:

  • The easiest way to activate is to use a service combination. This method does not require a PC or the Internet, just a phone. You need to dial *105*604# . After entering the data, you should make a call. After activation, the company's client will be notified via a successful activation message.
  • You can also activate the service through the ability to independently service clients. You will need to go to the official website of the company and register in your personal account. Then receive a password to enter the number. After logging in, you need to go to the “Services” tab and find “Call Hold”. Then click on the button responsible for connecting.
  • If you cannot activate the service on your own, then a call to the call center at 0500 will help. Calls to the number are free. The operator must be asked to activate the service, and after he confirms his identity, he will activate the option by number. To confirm, the operator may ask for passport details.

If, after activating the service, holding calls does not work, then it may be necessary to prohibit the holding. To get rid of it, you will need to enter the code *520# .

Finally, it should be noted that the information presented is relevant for. The cost of the service and other information may vary for different regions of Russia. First, before using the service, you need to clarify the data.

The “Call Waiting/Hold” service consists of two modes: Call Waiting and Call Hold.

Call waiting

“Call Waiting” mode - allows you to receive an audio notification during a telephone conversation and information on the mobile phone display about the receipt of another telephone call. In this case, the sound signal about an incoming call will be heard only by the subscriber to whose address this call is received.

To use the “Call Waiting” mode after adding the “Call Waiting/Hold” service, you must activate it through the mobile phone keypad.

At the same time, on the display of the device you can see a message about the result of the actions performed.

If the “Mobile Office” and “Call Waiting/Hold” services are activated, the “Mobile Office” service will have priority. When receiving/transmitting a fax or data, the Call Waiting/Hold mode does not work and the subscriber will hear busy tones.

Call hold

“Call Hold” mode - allows you to make an outgoing call during a conversation with the first subscriber or receive an incoming call from the second subscriber, while the first subscriber will be in hold mode.

Also, the mode allows you to switch between calls without losing them, i.e. alternately talk with two subscribers.

When working with the “Call Waiting/Hold” service, it is better to use standard GSM control codes:

It is also possible to use the mode through the telephone menu (see the instructions for the telephone).

Attention!
If a subscriber calls numbers 0870 (Mobile Assistant), 0890 (MTS Contact Center), 0876 (financial control), “Call Hold” mode does not work.

How to add a service?

Service " Call waiting/hold" can be added either when concluding a contract or to a previously concluded contract:

  • through ;
  • through ;
  • by calling the MTS Contact Center (0890).

The “Call Waiting/Hold” service is included in the basic network settings package of JLLC “Abundant TeleSystems” and from 06/01/2016. is provided to all MTS subscribers in “active mode”.

What is the price?

The service is added free of charge and has no subscription fee.

What if I add both services?

When simultaneous activation of the “Call Waiting/Hold” and “Call Forwarding” services using a conditional forwarding code (code 61 “no answer” or code 67 “busy”), the “Call Waiting” mode is activated first, and then the “Call Forwarding” mode.

During a conversation, the subscriber sees the expected (second) call on the telephone display and hears a characteristic sound signal. The subscriber can answer the call, i.e. he will use the Call Waiting mode.

If, within the time specified for forwarding, the subscriber does not answer the expected (second) call, then the “Call Forwarding” mode will work for the second call. And the second call will be forwarded to the number specified for forwarding.

Tariffication

The subscriber pays only for outgoing calls, depending on the tariff plan. All incoming calls to a mobile phone are free, except calls while in roaming.

Most subscribers have long been accustomed to this convenience, which is popularly called “Second Line”. This has the advantage that even during an active conversation with any subscriber, incoming calls to your number will not be rejected, but will be queued. You, in turn, will be given a sound signal about an incoming call, and the opportunity to accept, reject or ignore it.

We all perceive this opportunity as an integral part of using cellular services. However, in reality, this feature itself is an additional offer, which MTS, for example, calls “Call Waiting and Holding.” And in our article today we will consider the most pressing and popular issues related to the use of this advantage.

How to connect “Call Hold” on MTS

To begin with, it is worth noting that this service is provided by default to all MTS subscribers who connected to the operator’s services after 03/13/2009. The “Call Waiting and Hold” option has no subscription fee and is available for use completely free of charge.

However, if you became an MTS subscriber before the specified date, or somehow accidentally deactivated the call hold option earlier, it can always be switched to the activated state. It is recommended that you first check the status of the option to make sure that it is indeed deactivated. To do this, just enter the command *#43# , and familiarize yourself with the information displayed on the device display.

If the “Call Waiting and Hold” option is truly disabled, you can enable it by entering the combination #43# .

Management of the MTS “Call Hold” service

Few modern subscribers know about this, but the option to wait and hold calls from MTS has special control codes, and is not controlled solely using the call acceptance or call reset button.

The available commands within this proposal are as follows:

  • To refuse an incoming call on the second line, in addition to the call reject button, you can use a combination consisting of "0" and call buttons. This action will allow you to redirect to the incoming subscriber a standard signal that sounds when the called subscriber is busy;
  • To receive an incoming call, as well as simultaneously end an active conversation, you can use a combination of "1" and call buttons;
  • You can also receive a call not only using the call button, but also by using the combination “2” and call buttons, this will allow you to keep the active call on the second line, and accept a new incoming call in the active state.

How to disable the MTS “Call Hold” service

If for some reason you want to refuse to use this option, even despite the fact that it is offered for use completely free of charge, MTS offers this opportunity. To do this, you just need to re-dial the same code as to activate the service: #43# .

Nuances of using the service

To complete the picture that emerges about the service in question after familiarizing yourself with its terms and conditions, it is necessary to note a couple more nuances.

Firstly, it should be said that although the option is provided free of charge, in the case of receiving a call on the second line and holding the first call, charges for calls or deduction of minutes from the provided quotas are carried out in double volume.

Secondly, you need to understand that the option works correctly for the vast majority of calls. However, if we are talking about calls to short numbers, like 0890 , or 112 , for example, the “second line” will not work.
