MTS Internet roaming abroad. Data roaming abroad. Which operator to choose Take unlimited internet abroad

The most common need for international roaming is short-term. An “ordinary” call or message to loved ones about a successful landing or check-in at a hotel is unlikely to ruin you, but on vacation and during the holidays, many are faced with the high cost of calls, messages and mobile Internet. High-profile “roaming” cases immediately come to mind, like the one about the TV series “Interns” downloaded while roaming, for which the operator asked for more than 1 million rubles.

With your samovar

According to a survey by online travel agency Tripsta, more than half of Russians use the services of Russian mobile operators when traveling abroad, and only 12% of respondents prefer not to use a phone at all when abroad. What should those who need communication while traveling do? Of course, there is no point in changing the tariff for a short period. Of course, local Wi-Fi, instant messengers and pre-downloaded city maps save some of the communication costs. And yet, what solutions do our mobile operators offer in international roaming?

Rates, options and services apply in many, but not all, countries. Check the list of countries on the operator’s website.

It is worth noting that Tele2, which recently entered the market of the Moscow region, even without additional services, is ready to compete with the “big three” operators, offering at basic tariffs to pay 15 rubles per minute for incoming/outgoing calls in roaming (in Europe and the CIS countries) and 6 rubles for SMS and MMS in the absence of any additional services.

The same basic incoming/outgoing for European countries and some other countries will cost 49 rubles from Megafon, 69 rubles from Beeline, and from 25 to 115 rubles from MTS. respectively. The basic cost of SMS for all three operators is the same - 19 rubles. MTS and Megafon have separate packages to reduce the cost of sending short messages in roaming (195-700 rubles / month), but we dare to assume that the majority of Sravni.ru visitors successfully replace SMS and MMS functions of online messengers (WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, Skype, Facebook, etc.).

The cost of a minute of conversation for an outgoing call is most favorable from MTS with the “Free Travel” option - 4.17 rubles, but taking into account calls for 60 minutes per day. After all, for 60 minutes you will have to pay 250 rubles a day, whether you reprimand them or not. And indeed “Free Travel” for a limited number of European countries, plus Australia, Armenia, Israel and the UAE.

SIM card of the world

For frequent travelers, roaming with Russian operators, even with connected options, is not a cheap pleasure. Therefore, many of them buy international SIM cards that are valid in a large number of countries. Some tourists can be offered such a SIM card by travel agencies (Globalsim group of companies), and those flying through Moscow airports don’t even have to think about purchasing it in advance - Simtravel Mobile SIM cards are sold in Hellobox machines, Euroset and Svyaznoy salons » in Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo, respectively. You can also purchase an international SIM card from the Goodline company at Euroset, Svyaznoy and some travel agencies.

Tariffs for international SIM cards do not differ much from each other, unlike the offers of national operators. Thus, all the tariffs analyzed by Sravni.ru do not involve charging a subscription fee, in almost all cases you will not have to pay for incoming calls, and they charge only 10 cents for SMS. True, messages will have to be sent not in the usual way, but through the SIM menu and in Latin letters. The cheapest outgoing calls to landline numbers in two capitals - Moscow and St. Petersburg - are offered by Goodline and Simtravel mobile. A minute will cost the subscriber 0.05 USD. Calls to Russian mobile numbers at the tariffs of the same companies will cost 29 cents (22.13 rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate as of February 2, 2016). For calls to mobile numbers, WellTell tariffs are more profitable - 20 cents per minute (Contact package) or 16.67-13.89 cents (Whole World packages).

* – when attaching a Russian number, incoming calls are counted as outgoing due to the call back function.

All of the above tariffs do not involve a subscription fee and are valid in many countries around the world, but in some the conditions may differ from those indicated. Exclusions and tariff surcharges for different countries can be found on the operator’s website.

Considering the current floating exchange rate of the ruble, the cost of calls and SMS for Russians at the rates of international SIM cards has increased significantly, since they are denominated in US dollars. But even at the current exchange rate, this option is more profitable for travelers than the roaming tariffs of the Big Three. The same applies to mobile Internet - packages from international SIM card operators are usually more profitable, but full-fledged mobile Internet in roaming will definitely cost less when purchasing a local SIM card.

I will move to London

But what should you do if you plan to move to another country for a long time, and the “home” number of a Russian operator is needed to receive calls from work partners, relatives, friends, or colleagues, in whose address books it has been recorded for many years? Or you want to save your number and continue to use it upon returning from a long-term “business trip”. In this case, it is unlikely that the subscriber will use the mobile Internet, make frequent calls or send messages - for this he probably has a local SIM card. But since you leave the number in working condition, it should be possible to receive incoming calls and messages.

Only Megafon offers a special tariff for such subscribers (the “Around the World” tariff with calls from 13 rubles per minute, without mandatory monthly or daily expenses, but only with a prepaid advance payment of 300 rubles). Other operators limit themselves to special services and options more suitable for short-term travel. But the international SIM cards mentioned above have the ability to link a Russian number. That is, the Russian number remains active, calls can continue to be made to it, but calls will go through to an international SIM card. True, in this case they will be regarded as outgoing (not for a Russian, but for an international card), which means they will not be free. To put it simply: both forwarding and the auto-call function work simultaneously.

These are the main options for saving on cellular communications abroad. Considering the possibility of switching with your number to another operator, the functions of linking a Russian SIM card to an international one, everyone can choose convenient offers for their own purposes. The main thing in the pursuit of savings is not to forget about the tariffs of your operator and top up your phone balance in a timely manner. While abroad, you can do this using a bank card in your telecom operator’s personal account or through online banking.

When planning a trip abroad, many people think about adequate data roaming tariffs. Below we will consider the offers of popular Russian operators.

Megaphone

We like that there are only four of them and they are very clear. You can buy traffic at retail for 0.1 € per megabyte or purchase packages. Unlimited traffic per day costs €9.99, 100 MB per day costs €3.5, and a gigabyte for 30 days costs €49.99. Among the shortcomings, we can note only the limited coverage area in Europe. For the comparative chart, the rate of 76.9 rubles per euro was used. The unlimited tariff was not taken into account, because the cost of a megabyte in it tends to zero, and per megabyte is not included in the estimate, because Above we only compared package options and this is the only example of an affordable retail price.

List of countries with affordable internet roaming

Results

It is impossible to name a clear leader. The benefits of a particular offer very much depend on your specific consumption of mobile traffic abroad, use of your phone for voice communications, length of stay, list of countries and other factors.

In this review, we considered only reasonable communication tariffs, understanding that for any money, traffic can be purchased anywhere.

There is also a service Comfort Way, which provides packages with its mobile router. It is precisely because of this that he is not very interesting, because... requires immediate significant investment in equipment.

Tariffs for mobile Internet in different countries with local SIM cards can be found in a special Wiki. However, from personal experience, the information there is not entirely up to date.

The Apple SIM Card with its extensive coverage area in many countries is also of particular interest. It is distributed with new tablets from this company (and only works with them). It can also be purchased separately at Apple stores. It’s quite convenient to use - when visiting a new country, you simply select the operator’s devices and tariffs from the menu, which are quite humane and comparable to those listed above.

Against the backdrop of the abolition of roaming in European countries, PROturizm is starting a series of articles about mobile communications and the Internet abroad. Let's start with a comparison of international roaming and Internet tariffs of Russian mobile operators.

For vacationers at resorts abroad, free WI-FI in the hotel lobby may be enough. In some southern countries, calls from a street payphone are more profitable than mobile communications. If you are tied to a cell phone number, you will be interested in tourist SIM cards. Although, call forwarding is a complicated thing, and you may be thinking about changing your mobile operator. Here we will simply provide an overview of prices and tariffs for consideration.

Let's check the prices for mobile communications in roaming from the Russian tour operators Tele2, Beeline, MTS and Megafon using the example of roaming in Turkey.

Beeline

The Beeline operator automatically activates roaming. For outgoing and, please note, incoming calls while roaming, 200 rubles are debited from your account. and you are given a credit of 20 minutes of calls for the day (until 23.59.59 local time). For outgoing calls this is understandable, but for incoming calls it causes some regret. Be careful - don't answer calls without thinking.

Sending SMS – 20 rub.

When you go online, you will also be automatically charged 200 rubles. and will provide 40 MB per day. More Internet can be connected separately for 350 rubles. (100 MB package per day). Please note that the day ends at 23:59:59 (local time).

On days when you do not make calls or do not go online, the Beeline operator does not debit you.

MTS

MTS roaming in Turkey costs 60 rubles/min for incoming, outgoing to local and outgoing to Russian numbers. Calls to other foreign numbers – 135 rubles/min. Sending SMS – 19 rub.

To use mobile communications while roaming with MTS, you must activate two functions in advance: roaming and access. This is where the difficulty arises. You can activate the functions if you have been an MTS subscriber for more than six months with monthly expenses of more than 650 rubles on communications, or more than a year with monthly expenses of more than 0 rubles. Otherwise, they offer you the “easy” option - attention! – which must be connected at the MTS showroom or sales office!

For calls abroad, MTS offers a tariff with a subscription fee of 95 rubles. in a day. According to the tariff, you are given “free” 10 minutes of incoming calls (from 11 minutes - 25 rubles / min.) and a “discount” on outgoing calls from 2 to 5 minutes (1st and from 6 minutes - regular roaming tariff for country). Within a calendar month, you can receive 200 minutes of incoming calls for free, then at 25 rubles per minute.

100 MB of Internet can be connected for 450 rubles. The fee is debited the first time you connect to the network, the day is also “counted” until 23:59, but according to the time of the subscriber’s home region.

Megaphone

Megafon offers roaming for 79 rubles/min for all incoming and outgoing calls in Turkey (129 rubles/min to other countries). SMS – 25 rub.

Megafon mobile Internet - 70 MB/day for 350 rubles. The fee is debited when accessing the Internet abroad. The traffic package is available for 24 hours; after the volume is used up, it is blocked until the next period of 24 hours.

For 600 rubles. per day you can activate the option with unlimited internet. Internet subscription fee will be charged daily. Don't forget to disable the option when you return.

An additional option for calls abroad that Megafon offers - with a subscription fee of 59 rubles / day will provide you with 40 minutes of incoming calls per day.

Another version of the additional option “evens out” the price of incoming and outgoing calls to Russia and Turkey - 13 rubles per minute and offers SMS for 11 rubles. Connection option – 15 rubles. and daily subscription fee – 9 rubles/day.

These options are not available for connection on all tariffs. This must be checked in advance in your Personal Account or in the Contact Center.

In Megafon's international roaming, you can check your balance for free using the USSD command *100#call. Calls to the Contact Center are also free: +7 926 111–05–00.

Tele2

Tele2 roaming (like Beeline) does not require a connection. The phone is automatically registered in the network of the host country. If this does not happen, select the network manually.

Incoming and outgoing calls in Turkish roaming with Tele2: local calls in Turkey, to Europe, to the CIS countries and to Russia will cost 15 rubles/min. A megabyte of Internet will cost you 25 rubles. Outgoing SMS and MMS – 6 rubles each.

For 100 rubles. You can connect to an Internet package of 10 MB per day. To activate the service you will have to pay an extra 100 rubles. For every MB over the limit, you will be charged 10 rubles. The fee is charged every day, regardless of Internet use, so do not forget to turn off the service when you return.

The operator offers very interesting information about what 1 GB of Internet is.

For incoming calls in international roaming, Tele2 offers a tariff with a subscription fee of 5 rubles. in a day. The fee is debited daily, regardless of the availability of calls. There is no fee for connecting to the service.

Free Tele2 helpline number in roaming +7 951 520-06-11. Check your travel balance *105#call.

How to make roaming calls abroad?

A very convenient service is Beeline roaming abroad, which is aimed at people who often travel outside the country. After connecting, subscribers can take advantage of loyal connection rates specifically for their number (no need to constantly change the SIM card). With a one-time registration of a new service, it begins to work as soon as the subscriber leaves the territory of the Russian Federation. International roaming calls are available in more than two hundred countries so that the subscriber can control his costs with the ability to call loved ones at any time.

Tariffs for international roaming Beeline

For international roaming, the mobile operator sets the most favorable rates so as not to buy a separate card from another current network each time.

Fares are calculated using a prepaid payment system depending on the destination.

In some countries minute a conversation can be valued at 10 rubles, and in others - 100 rubles. The cheapest tariff for foreign countries is set for the CIS countries, but in China or the USA roaming will be one of the most expensive.

"Planet Zero"

How to activate this service on Beeline? For this the subscriber needs to dial *110*331#, and to disconnect: *110*330#. Upon activation, 25 rubles are charged, considering that all further services are free.

The quality of cellular communication will not be worse, as in the home region, so money will not be wasted. All home tariff plans are frozen and become unavailable outside the country of connection.

Characterized by "Planet Zero" such features:

  • SMS messages for 7 rubles;
  • Monthly fee: 60 rubles/day;
  • Outgoing calls: 20 rubles per minute;
  • Incoming calls are free up to 20 minutes per day, and beyond the limit for 10 rubles/minute.

If the subscriber has made absolutely no calls or written messages during the day, then the standard fee will not be debited from the account from abroad.

Thanks to the “Planet Zero” tariff, you can save money by spending a minimum of effort on connection. Payment for the service is unprofitable when visiting Israel, New Zealand, Taiwan, South Africa, Korea, Singapore and some other countries, a full list of which can be found on the official website. So you can freely visit Georgia or travel around Europe.

"My planet"

The international additional service “My Planet” will help to significantly reduce the costs of a list of incoming/outgoing calls and the exchange of SMS text messages. The option differs in the absence of a mandatory subscription fee, instead of which you only need to pay for a connection in the amount of 25 rubles.

The cost of call minutes depends on where you are. It is convenient to manage the tariff options in your personal account using your phone number.

Planet connection is simple, so you don’t need to literally spend half a day to take advantage of the tariff’s capabilities. Connection is carried out using the combination *110*0071#, and to turn off you need to dial *110*0070#. It is worth knowing that the services “Planet Zero” and “My Planet” are not compatible (when you connect one, the second is automatically disabled).

"Roaming lightly"

Another type of Beeline roaming is “Light Roaming”, which is preferred by subscribers traveling from one region of the Russian Federation to another.

The cost of constant calls not from your “native” connection can empty your pocket, and purchasing local numbers is not always the best option. Now the transition to this type of roaming is impossible, but those who have already managed to switch can enjoy all the benefits.

The package is profitable with a single tariff for calls - the cost for communication services is as close as possible to the prices of the home region. You need to disable the option immediately upon arrival to avoid being charged a roaming fee. Mobile communication Beeline “Roaming easily” connects for only 150 rubles/month(it is not always possible to find a new package at this price).

Outgoing calls are charged as follows:

  • 1.95 rubles for calls within the Russian Federation on the Beeline network;
  • 4.95 rubles for dialing other operator numbers.

With the service activated, you can make calls throughout Russia, taking advantage of the main advantage - free incoming calls from both landlines and mobiles. The subscription fee is carried out on a daily basis and depends on the number of days in a particular month.

If the call lasts less than 3 seconds, no payment is charged. You need to find out how much SMS costs individually from the operator.

"International Communications"

In fact, roaming is international communication that operates in the territory where cellular coverage is available. If the question of international roaming arises, then the “International Communications” service cannot remain aside.

When connected, you can freely call abroad or travel abroad with a positive balance. Profitable communication in roaming can be ensured when you are in the CIS or other countries of the world.

Accurate The cost of international calls can be found by dialing 0611, so as not to encounter troubles and unnecessary expenses for communication during the trip.

The combination *110*131# will help you activate the International Communications service, and to disable it you can dial *110*130#.

Visitor survey

Internet in Beeline roaming abroad

Internet roaming prices are quite high, but this also means that you do not need to use Internet access abroad. So in Belarus and other CIS countries the first 40 MB will cost 200 rubles per day, and if the limit is exceeded, each subsequent megabyte is valued at 5 rubles. All subscribers in roaming are connected to the “Most Profitable Internet” service, which does not require any additional settings.

The Internet provides many conveniences, without which it is even difficult to imagine traveling, as it can help you find the necessary information, navigate the area and get other help.

To avoid unnecessary Internet waste, it is better to disable automatic mms reception. Payment for megabytes will be charged in roaming upon use.

It is expensive not only to call Abkhazia, but also to use the Internet - for this direction, to get 1 MB you need to pay 90 rubles. All countries in which Internet roaming is available and prices for it are available on the official website, where the types of tariffs are also indicated.

How profitable is it to call abroad?

And which Beeline tariff is more profitable to choose? It depends on where you will be at the time of travel. So in Germany or Abkhazia, or maybe you’re just planning to travel from Krasnodar to Tula.

It will be useful to view:

Beeline roaming services are provided in Tunisia, Kazakhstan, and Thailand. Tariffs are read instantly, and after connection, by default all subscribers are charged a standard fee.

For any positive balance, the set threshold is debited for the number of minutes of conversation or per SMS, for the megabytes used.

Beeline roaming in Turkey and Egypt

Considering that many Russian tourists constantly visit Turkey and Egypt, it is better to study all Beeline roaming tariffs, which will help you save money and freely call your family to share your impressions. Prices in these resort countries are identical and help optimize communication costs.

You can freely use the mobile Internet by visiting social networks and searching for what you need.

In Egypt, the following tariffication is relevant:

  • Incoming call for 69 rubles per minute;
  • Calls to other countries for 129 rubles/minute;
  • Messages for 19 rubles.

How to connect and disconnect Beeline international roaming?

You can use Beeline roaming in Italy, Georgia and Ukraine. Vietnam, Cyprus, and Israel are not excluded from the services of a cellular operator, and Cuba is distinguished by the most common roaming services.

Useful video:

You can minimize the cost of an overseas call only if you activate the service on time and have available funds in your account. To enable roaming, just dial a few standard numbers on your phone. The same applies to shutdowns.

We wrote about how to activate roaming in this article.

Conclusion

For travel around the world, favorable rates are “Planet Zero” or “My Planet”, depending on the appropriate set of options. Beeline is concerned that you save on calls and offers a wide variety of roaming connections.

You can also call Germany or Belarus, but calls in Israel, the Dominican Republic and similar destinations will cost more. The official Beeline website offers a cost calculator and describes in detail each foreign tariff.

In the tariff calculator you need to enter the name of the city where you will go and click on the “Calculate cost” button

From time to time, the operator offers discounts on roaming, so each subscriber chooses the best tariff independently.

I, like most travelers, pay special attention to the availability of mobile Internet when traveling abroad. Nowadays you rarely see people using regular phones, that is, devices designed exclusively for making calls and sending SMS messages. Yes, they probably aren’t produced anymore. Most users now have iPhones, smartphones, and so on. That is, devices with the ability to access the Internet, different operating systems, and the like.

In this post I want to highlight all the benefits of mobile Internet when traveling. Below I will talk about all the advantages of the mobile Internet, and also provide an overview of mobile operators. Thanks to it, you can choose the appropriate option for yourself, depending on which country you are going to.

For reference: mobile Internet is a telecom operator service provided in 2G, 3G, 4G format.

Advantages and benefits of mobile Internet

Not so long ago, the presence of this service in a cafe or hotel was considered a great advantage, and even earlier we simply went to an Internet cafe to simply check our email. Find out the latest news or get the information you need. But progress is rapid everywhere and in everything, so today not many people use these services. Moreover, mobile Internet has many more advantages, especially when traveling when we are in another country.

  • Orientation in space in a strange, unfamiliar town. Let’s assume the following situation: you arrive at a train station or airport, have a printed map of the area in your hands, and start frantically turning your head, trying to find the right sign. Here's the problem - not all cities have them.

Then the approach to business changes, and you begin to bother passers-by - “Excuse me...”. But here again the question: what to do if it’s late evening, night or early morning? There are practically no passers-by. Again, if you want, the language will take you anywhere, you can get to any point. But how much effort and time this will require is unknown.

And so I get out of the situation with a smartphone - I just go to the “Maps” application, enter the desired address into the search engine. I click “get directions” from the point where I am to the one where my pre-booked hotel is located. My route appears on the screen in the form of a thick line and I appear in the form of a moving dot. That is, if there is cellular communication in the area, and therefore the Internet, even GPRS, you will not be afraid of any darkness and deserted streets.

  • Access to booking portals. In the previous example, I showed how I found my way to the hotel I booked when I arrived at the train station. I just walked to the exit and, using the mobile Internet, looked for a place to stay. And I arrived at the station from the airport, where I arrived from another city. I was sitting at the bus stop, intending to choose the option of traveling by bus, but I went to the portal of inexpensive air tickets through my smartphone browser and realized that in two hours I could leave this city by plane. At a very reasonable price and much faster than by bus. Do you understand my train of thought, what I want to say? I found tickets on Aviasales.
  • Constant connection with family and friends. Every person knows about the existence of Skype and email, with which you can keep in touch with the right people from anywhere in the world. So I don’t need a regular phone to which or from which I can simply call or send an SMS message. I need full communication, constant control of cash injections, statistics of my sites, access to all my sites. And much more: communication with customers or clients, administrative actions, social networks. As well as video calling and much more. You can’t list everything, but in principle there’s no point. The main thing is that this is quite enough for complete freedom, which for me personally, not only in travel, but in life in general, is of great importance.

Well, these are, in principle, the most important advantages of the mobile Internet, and now it’s worth paying attention to the most important step in this matter - purchasing a SIM card.

Buying a SIM card in the country of destination

The very first task that I try to solve before the trip is choosing a cellular operator to receive mobile Internet services. As soon as I get to the arrivals hall, after picking up my luggage, I start going around all the kiosks with different logos of mobile operators and take advertising booklets from them. I analyze all tariff plans and choose the most suitable option for myself. Of course, this is quite a troublesome and time-consuming task. Therefore, I recommend that you resolve this issue in advance and to help you and myself, I will also offer an overview of cellular operators.

In different countries, for example, in Brazil and Argentina, Japan and Portugal, and so on, the same operator may have different tariffs. Using this link, on the Wiki on the mobile Internet in the world, you can get a lot of useful and interesting information about operators in a particular country. And even learn the secrets of your phone settings for smooth operation of the mobile Internet. Below I offer an overview of our operators providing mobile Internet services in roaming.

Review of accessible Internet operators abroad

Several years ago I already wrote an article “Which operator is cheaper to travel abroad with?” There they looked at the cost of roaming from the “sharks of mobile operators”: Beeline, MTS, Megafon. The cost of calls abroad was studied. And this post will compare prices for using the Internet in roaming from the above operators. I hope it will be useful to you and help you in choosing the most advantageous offer for the cost of Internet abroad.

The comparison will consider:

  • Three operators (Beeline, Megafon and MTS);
  • The two most popular countries among Russian tourists are Egypt, Thailand and Turkey;
  • Prices for various options from the above operators.

Important: in absolutely all existing options, traffic of the selected type is available for 24 hours after logging into Internet roaming.

Mobile operator "Beeline"

They offer a separate service called “Beneficial Internet in Roaming”. Its price for 40 MB is 200 rubles (per day). Exceeding the established norm will cost an additional 5 rubles per megabyte. Convenient - when roaming, the connection is automatic, that is, it is simply impossible to forget to “turn it on and off.” And no additional commands are needed. This service is available in more than 50 countries around the world. Including Austria, Georgia, Germany, Cyprus and so on.

Mobile operator - MegaFon

This operator offers travelers two types of options to choose from:

  • "Internet abroad";
  • "Vacation online."

In the first option, Egypt and Thailand belong to the “Popular countries and CIS” zone. Ten megabytes will cost 329 rubles, and 30 - 829. The option must be enabled and, of course, do not forget to turn off.

The price for connecting to the “Online Vacation” service will cost 30 rubles; in addition, you must pay 19 rubles for each megabyte used. The service is not available in Thailand, but in Egypt you can use it as much as you wish.

MTS operator options

This operator offers three options for mobile Internet abroad:

  1. “Bit Abroad” - 30 MB for 300 rubles;
  2. “Maxi bit” will cost 600 rubles for 70 MB;
  3. “Super bit” - 1,500 rubles for 200 megabytes.

All options can not be disabled, since the fee is charged only for the day you access the Internet and exclusively abroad.

To summarize: the cheapest Internet in roaming (Thailand and Egypt) is from the Beeline company; for 200 rubles you get as much as 40 megabytes.

Second place was confidently taken by MTS, thanks to the “Bit Abroad” service - 30 MB for 300 rubles. But the most expensive mobile Internet, as for me, is MegaFon. Just 10 meters costs 329 rubles. And in its other option - “Online Vacation”, one meter costs 19 rubles, that is, 10 MB turns out to be 190 rubles - a little expensive.

Please note: This review is my personal opinion resulting from my own research and analysis. Check everything yourself on the operator’s websites - you may have a completely different opinion.
