Is it possible to set up a satellite dish yourself. Self-tuning of a satellite dish. Connecting via a receiver

Do not know how to set up a satellite tuner? Then read this article. To complete the picture, I will tell you about other possible reasons for not working satellite TV.

Caption - No signal

When you turn on the TV, the inscription - No signal is displayed. There may be several reasons.

  • The satellite dish tuner is disabled.

It is enough to turn it on, and everything will work.

  • The TV "does not see" the prefix.

As an example, as an option, the satellite tuner is connected to the TV with tulips via the AV1 interface, and in the TV settings, the connector signed on the rear panel as AV2 is selected, to which nothing is connected.

As a result, "No Signal" is displayed. But it is enough to switch the TV from AV2 to AV1 in which tulips stick out, coming from the tuner that is already on, and everything will work.

Other reasons for the lack of satellite signal

  • The cable connecting the antenna to the tuner is damaged.

Check the cable, fix the problem.
- Check the F-connector on the cable, strip them again.

Important! The braid (screen) and the central core must not touch each other.

  • Technical work is underway.

Call the operator for more information.

  • Faulty converter (gun)

As for the malfunction of the converter, you can check its performance by replacing it with another one. Let's leave this one for last. Converters are rarely covered.

There are two reasons for the lack of a signal - the dish is not tuned, or the tuner.

First, try restarting your receiver. How it's done? Turn off the included receiver not from the remote control, but simply unplug the power plug from the outlet. Turn it back on after 30-40 seconds. Maybe everything will work again. It also happens.

A certain percentage of readers, clearly before reading this article, had already managed to “slightly” twist the antenna or go over the settings of the satellite tuner, trying all kinds of options with interest or slight fear. Someone has already done both.

In any case, start restoring satellite TV by checking the settings of the tuner. To display the settings on the TV screen, press the MENU button on the receiver (tuner) remote control.

If nothing is displayed on the TV screen after pressing the MENU button, then, as an option, the tuner itself is covered or you just need to turn on the method you have chosen to connect the tuner to the TV using the remote control from your TV.

In an article on self-configuring a satellite dish, in the chapter “Preparing a receiver for setting up a satellite dish”, I talked about this in more or less detail. Read about it at.

What satellite is the dish tuned to?

The first thing you need to know is the name of the satellite that the dish is tuned to.

Name of satellites of paid operators

Now you need to find out the model of the satellite tuner. The tuner may or may not be recommended by the operator.

What is the difference? All receivers (tuners) from which the operator makes a profit is called recommended. The rest is not recommended.

That is, it does not matter for what reason the tuner settings were knocked down, it is enough to reset them to the factory settings and update the channel list. For this action, operators offer detailed step-by-step instructions for recommended receivers.

How to determine the tuner model?

Often, when I advise satellite TV users by phone, and ask the question - What model of receiver do you have? What is the name of your satellite receiver? - a situation arises when a person does not have an answer to this question.

What to do in this case? Turn the tuner upside down and look for a plate with letters and numbers. If it is, then look for the line - Model:
And then, after this word comes the name of the receiver model.

For Telekarta and Continent TV projects, instructions for updating tuners.
A video from Tricolor about the lack of a signal and possible solutions to the problem.

Nothing personal, but the “advertising slogan” with the sad “looking for” on the splash screen is not mine. 🙂

How to set up a satellite tuner using the GI-S1025 as an example

It happens that you have already entered the settings, and knocked something down without even noticing it. Alternatively, you can reset the settings to factory settings and scan the channels from the satellite over a new one.

Attention! Before resetting the tuner to the factory or so-called default settings, I recommend that if you don’t speak English in advance, find the language selection tab in the settings.

As a rule, on non-operator receivers, after the settings are reset to factory default, the menu will be in English. The first thing to do is to switch back to Russian.

The language settings of the GI - S1025 receiver can be reached as follows.

Go to the menu, select the third tab "Settings" and click "OK"

In the new window, select the first tab "Language", click "OK". The language settings window will open.

Remember the path to them, use the EXIT button to exit the menu, and proceed to reset the tuner to factory settings.

Resetting the GI - S1025 receiver to factory settings

The way to reset the GI - S1025 receiver to factory settings is as follows. Go to the menu, select the fourth tab "System", click "OK". In the window that opens, select the third item "Factory settings" and confirm with "OK".

In the new window, select "Default Settings", then enter the requested password. As a rule, on all receivers the password is four zeros, if no one has changed anything. After entering the password, confirm your actions by clicking on "Yes".

Resetting the receiver to factory settings, and knowing the name of the desired satellite, you can already select it in the list and scan the channels. And everything will work, provided that the dish is set up, and the signal comes through the cable.

Ideally, it would be nice to learn how to use frequency tables. And then it will be possible to independently add new transponders, and hence new channels, since not all satellite receivers have a blind search function.

Receiver settings options

    Satellite name

The first line is a list of satellites, select the one you need in it.

It's important to know! The selected satellite, i.e. its name, does not affect the tuner settings in any way.

You can select the Intelsat 15 at 85.2°E Telecard satellite in the first line of settings, and set the tuner to Tricolor Siberia due to the following parameters. Of course, first of all, the satellite dish should be set to 56 degrees, not 85.

It is possible that your companion may not be in the drop-down list. It's okay, choose any from the list and tune in to it.

LNB type

In the line - LNB Type - select the parameter of the used converter.
How to find out which converter is used in your satellite system? What are the types of LNBs?

The signal transmitted from the satellite can be in the C-band or in the Ku-band.
We will not consider all possible options, we will only touch on the most common.

The C-range converter looks like this.

The Ku - range converter is like this.

To correctly determine in which range the channels go, you are guided primarily by the type of converter attached to your antenna.

All paid operators, without exception, broadcast in the Ku-band.

In addition, the Ku-band signal can be transmitted in linear or circular polarization. Therefore, converters of this range are of two types, converters operating in linear polarization and in circular polarization.

With the Ku converter - the range of linear polarization in the line "LNB Type" set - Universal. The range of exposed frequencies will be from 9750 to 10600.

In the LNB of circular polarization, select the frequency 10750 MHz

For the C-band converter, the “Standard” option is selected in this line, i.e. the received frequency range starts from 5150 MHz

If something else can be read on the used converter, the frequency parameters used by it are written on it.

TP number

The third line is "TP number". It contains a list of transponders and their parameters - transponder frequency, polarization and symbol rate.

In the GI - S 1025 receiver, the list of transponders and their parameters are edited as follows, I explain step by step from scratch.

Press the MENU button.
Select the "Install" tab, click "OK", and again "Install" and "OK".
On the TV screen at the bottom you will see colored buttons with tips. In our case, we are interested in yellow, signed as TP ed. (edit transponders). Press the yellow button on the tuner remote control.
In the transponder editing window that opens, perform the necessary actions using the colored buttons on the tuner remote control.

Clicking on the blue one deletes the entire list of transponders. The yellow button deletes the selected transponder. By clicking on the green one, you can add a new transponder by entering its parameters in the new window that opens. The red button is signed as "Transp.S", when you click on it, the transponder is scanned, all channels on it are recorded.

After the operation, click on EXIT and either save the changes made, or not.

Where can I get the necessary data on the frequencies and their parameters of the satellite of interest? In satellite TV.

DISEqC

When there is only one LNB on the antenna, then the disk in the satellite settings should be disabled - Disable (Off)

Disek or otherwise dysek switch between several convectors (guns). Used when you have multiple antennas or LNBs tuned to different satellites.
In the case when several satellites are used for viewing, the DISEqC port is selected in the tuner settings, to which the LNB tuned to this satellite is connected.

  • Positioner

If the antenna is not driven by the engine to another satellite by pressing a button on the remote control, then you do not have one. In the settings, leave - Off.

  • 22 k

When using a universal converter, this tab is not active. We don't need it.

  • 0/12 V

The setting is enabled by default. So you leave. This setting, like the previous one, is uninteresting and unnecessary.

  • Polarization

By default, "Auto", and leave it. If you select horizontal (H) or vertical (V), only channels located on transponders with the selected polarization will be available for viewing.

  • Tone-signal

The default is "Off", and leave it as it is. I have no idea what this setting is responsible for in the GI -S 1025 receiver.

Power LNB

Must be enabled.

Summing up

When the tuner settings are set correctly, the active one is selected from the transponder lists, then the scales displaying the power and signal quality will be filled with color. Which means the signal is present, the dish is set.

Otherwise, when the tuner settings are correct, and the scales are not filled with color, you switch your attention to the plate. Proceed to.

I'm not sure that the article turned out to be simple, understandable and accessible. Therefore, in case of any difficulties, when setting up the tuner yourself, ask questions in the comments. I'll try to help if I can.

And at the end of the article on self-tuning the tuner, an entertaining video - An eagle flying with a camera on its back from the tallest building in the world - UAE, Dubai, Burj Khalifa (828 m.). When an eagle dives, it's something. Impressive.

How to set up satellite channels? It is difficult to install an antenna without experience. But you can figure it out on your own. If you have patience and do not want to pay installers for their services, then this guide is for you.

After all, these same specialists were once without experience and knowledge, like you. But they have learned their trade. Put in the effort and you will succeed. Moreover, by practicing on your antenna, you will be able to provide services to your friends or family.

Be prepared for the fact that you may not succeed right away. It may take a week to first set up and install the antenna, but then you can complete all these steps in a couple of hours.

Satellite selection

Before satellite channels, you need to decide which satellite you will receive them from. A huge number of such objects fly in space, and they all broadcast different TV channels.

On the territory of Russia, the signals of the following devices are perfectly received:

    Hot Bird at 13.0 degrees East (several Russian channels and a large package of adult channels);

    Express AMU1 at 36 degrees east. (Tricolor TV and NTV+);

    Express AM6 at 53.0 degrees E. d.;

    Yamal 402 at 54.9 degrees E. d.;

    Express AT1 at 56.0 degrees E. (Tricolor TV Siberia and NTV+Vostok);

    ABS 2 at 75.0 degrees east. (MTS TV);

    Horizons 2 & Intelsat 15 at 85.0 degrees east. ("Continent TV"/"Telecard")

    Yamal 401 at 90.0 degrees E. d.;

    Express AM33 at 96.5 degrees E. d.

Of course, there are other satellites, but these are in demand due to the large number of Russian-language channels. At all other facilities there are no Russian channels or they are, but in very small quantities.

On the mentioned there are both paid ones. In the list above, all paid packages were listed in brackets. Please note that "Tricolor TV" and NTV + are broadcast at 36 and 56 degrees, but are called a little differently. Channels and frequencies there are slightly different. Moreover, the encoding used is also different.

The satellite, located at the position of 56 degrees, is most of all oriented to the eastern part of Russia. And packages located at the position of 36 degrees - to the European part.

If you do not plan to buy cards for pay-per-view or use sharing, then you need to choose satellites that broadcast a lot of free channels. For example, a multifeed consisting of satellites at positions 75, 85 and 90 would be a great option. All of these signals can be received on the same antenna, since they are located close to each other. You can catch many open Russian channels on them.

If you have a large antenna at home (180 centimeters in diameter), then you can hang a couple more heads around the edges. But from scratch without experience, it will be difficult for you to do this. First, catch at least something with the head in the center (as shown in the figure), and then make additional mounts to receive other satellites.

Selection of equipment for viewing

For setup and further viewing, you need special equipment. A complete set can always be bought in specialized stores. If you want to watch NTV +, MTS TV, Tricolor TV or something else, then you can buy the equipment along with the receiver there.

If you do not plan to watch paid channels, will use sharing or watch only open ones, then it is better to buy in a store that is not associated with these TV providers.

Satellite dishes and heads are almost the same everywhere. But there is one difference. Some channels are broadcast at frequencies with circular polarization, and some - with linear polarization. In heads for circular polarization, a special plate is installed inside, which refracts the signal.

Also different. It is advisable to take modern ones that support the latest generation digital television. Many channels are not accepted by older models.

Antenna Installation

Satellite channel settings are made only after the antenna is assembled.

You need to fasten it as firmly as possible. Otherwise, with a strong wind, it will shift. And changing the position even by a couple of millimeters will greatly change the quality of the signal.

Of course, you first need to strongly fix only the legs, and not the entire antenna. Otherwise, it will be immobile.

When mounting the antenna, you need to choose a position so that it looks in the direction where this or that satellite is located.

Now you can find many programs that help determine their position using GPS. You just have to point the antenna in the direction that the phone tells you.

Setting up satellite channels

Self-tuning of satellite dish channels is carried out using or special equipment. An example is shown in the figure below.

If you do not plan to do this in the future, then there is no need to spend extra money. It is better to use the receiver that you bought for viewing. It also picks up signals very well.

You need to open the frequency table of the channels of the satellite you need and drive the required value into the receiver.

If you have a modern model, then fresh and working frequencies should be programmed in its database, which greatly facilitates the search. No need to manually enter so many numbers.

After you have entered the frequency, the flow rate, and indicated the polarization, you will need to move the antenna and head until the signal quality is as high as possible. If the signal quality is poor, your picture will either disappear or have various interferences. And in bad weather, you will only watch a painting by Malevich. Therefore, you need to try to achieve the maximum signal level.

As soon as you get the best signal, you need to start the search so that the channels are fixed in the database. The principle of operation of all receivers is the same. Only the design changes. Plus, there are always hints.

Setting up satellite channels on your TV

The satellite channel settings on the TV can be made according to the same principle. Only the receiver is used built-in, not external. But there are some downsides here. Built-in receivers in the TV cannot open paid channels using sharing or any firmware. You will have to watch only open channels or buy an official card.

Conclusion

Before you tune your antenna, think a lot and study where and what channels are broadcast. Please note that many of them are duplicated on all Russian-speaking satellites. Therefore, it makes no sense to catch them all to the last.

Happy viewing!

Satellite dishes have somewhat lost their significance for society in recent years. The reason is the appearance on sale of digital TV set-top boxes. Nevertheless, this equipment remains in demand, especially if the population lives outside the urban area.

Buying equipment is not a problem, but installing a satellite dish may well become a serious task with an independent approach to installation. However, the task can be greatly facilitated if you have basic knowledge. We will talk about how the installation is carried out using the example of the popular Tricolor system.

Even when dealing with a traditional television antenna, and in such cases, installation requires at least minimal knowledge and skills. Satellite equipment is much more complex than conventional TV reception.

If conventional equipment has two main concepts - a cable and a plug, a system where reception from a satellite is carried out has a number of technical concepts:

  1. Satellite antenna.
  2. Converter.
  3. Multifeed holder.
  4. Bracket.
  5. Receiver.

Let us consider in more detail each of the constituent elements of satellite equipment.

– signal source to be received by the antenna. Accordingly, in order to receive a constant signal, a constant direction of the antenna to the satellite is necessary.

An apparatus in geostationary Earth orbit is, in fact, a standard space satellite, but the main functionality of such an apparatus is the broadcast of a television signal

There are different satellites and different antenna designs, but the principle of tuning is almost the same for all.

For this television reception technology, a satellite dish is used, which is a “dish” disk of different diameters, equipped with a conversion device - converter.

Part of the equipment is an antenna that provides reliable reception of the TV receiver signal from the satellite. Given the frequency of the transmitted signal, the antenna looks somewhat different than traditional reception designs.

This is a module of small geometric dimensions, usually cylindrical, attached directly to the "front" part of the satellite dish.

The disk antenna has a special design that allows you not only to receive a television signal, but to additionally concentrate and direct it to one point - namely to the converter. It, in fact, is the primary signal amplifier, from which the signal is fed through the cable to the receiver.

One of the components of a satellite dish that needs special attention during installation, ensuring a high degree of tightness of the structure

A special rod holder is used to fix the module. The device called "multi-feed-holder"- this is the same rod-holder, only slightly modified. Allows you to place several converters to work with different satellites.

The bracket is, in fact, a mechanical structure that is assembled from component parts and fixed at the intended installation site of the satellite dish. As a rule, such a place is the wall of the building, less often the roof truss system.

The so-called "multifeed" - in simple words - an extended barbell. This is a holder of several converters at once, designed to receive signals from different satellites

The electronic module for processing the received television signal, with the subsequent display of information on the screen of the television receiver, is called receiver.

There are different designs of receivers depending on the manufacturer. However, a specific manufacturer, as a rule, completes the equipment taking into account the correspondence between the antenna and the device.

The design of the bracket involves not just a conventional stationary mount. The mechanical part has a simple, but quite effective system of shifting vertically and horizontally

Therefore, it is rather problematic to match any receiver (receiver) with any "non-native" antenna. This point should be taken into account before installing it in the house with your own hands and holding it under a modern TV.

The receiving module is also a “receiver” of the signal, which does not need to be installed like a satellite dish, but requires some settings from the end user

Selecting a suitable location for equipment

First of all, you should choose the optimal location of the satellite dish. What is meant by the term "optimal"? Of course, a completely free area in the direction of the transmitting satellite.

That is, in a given direction, the presence of any objects similar to:

  • buildings;
  • trees;
  • advertising posters, etc.

It is also recommended to ensure the maximum possible proximity of the placement of the rest of the equipment (receiver, TV) to the installation point of the satellite dish. These are not critical requirements, but the fulfillment of these requirements will help to simplify the setup of the equipment.

Tuning antenna circuit: 1 - direction "north"; 2 - direction "south"; 3 - azimuthal direction; 4, 7 - angle at the installation site relative to the location of the satellite; 5 - television satellite; 6 - satellite signal

Traditionally, "plates" are placed on the wall of the building next to the window opening, or the installation is done on the side of the wall, which is part of the balcony (loggia) structure.

The instruction prohibits installation directly inside the balcony area, especially the glazed one. Also, the equipment should be installed at points where there is no possible fall of precipitation in the form of snow and ice from the roof.

Step-by-step instructions for mounting the plate

It is first necessary to assemble the satellite antenna structure as this procedure is described in the attached instructions. As a rule, antennas are delivered unassembled. Therefore, the structure must be assembled using the supplied accessories.

Step #1 - Attaching the Antenna Bracket

Again, given the work with a proprietary product, where all installation elements and components are designed for the appropriate load, work is being done to install anchor bolts in the wall of the building.

One of the options for antenna brackets that are used for reliable, sturdy installation of a satellite dish. Initially, a support pipe is attached to the wall, and the antenna bracket is directly attached to the pipe

This work is done in a standard way, using a tool for working with concrete. After the introduction of the anchors, a support rod is attached to the installed anchors, and a metal bracket is attached to the rod.

Step #2 - Installing the Antenna Converter

The installation of a preliminary signal amplifier - converter, is carried out strictly according to the instructions, where all the subtleties of the placement of this component are noted.

The converter itself should be fixed in the support ring in such a way as to ensure perfect tightness of the device. Even a slight penetration of moisture inside threatens to disrupt the operation of the device.

Step #3 - Connecting the Cable to the Converter

At the current stage, the cable, which is usually also included in the kit, is connected to the converter module. The connection is made by means of the special “F” connector included in the scope of delivery.

An example of a well-connected cable on the side of the converter. Well-executed sealing of the connection area is clearly visible, which will ensure stable operation of the amplifier for a long period of time

The connection area must be carefully sealed, for example with silicone sealant. The cable from the point of inclusion is gently and effortlessly pulled through the body of the converter holder rod. It is fixed at regular intervals with plastic ties or in another way.

Step #4 - Fixing the Satellite Dish

The prepared “plate” is installed on the bracket, while the adjusting screws are not tightened to the stop - they are left loose.

This approach is necessary for the simple reason that further (after installation) the procedure for fine tuning to the satellite will follow. Accordingly, the “plate” will have to be moved both vertically and horizontally.

Installed, fully customized household "dish", ready to reward its master with a high-quality television picture received from the satellite

Separately, it is worthwhile to instruct on the installation of the F-connector on a coaxial cable. This operation has its own characteristics. The end area of the cable (approximately 15 mm long) must be freed from the first insulating layer.

But you need to remove the insulation, taking into account the integrity of the screen braid present under the insulation layer. Then the second layer of insulation is removed over a length of about 10 mm. This releases the central copper core. Next, the connector is screwed onto the cleaned trailer until it stops, passing the copper conductor into the corresponding hole.

How to adjust the installed antenna?

Usually, the “dish” installation instructions contain a table where information on azimuth and angle is indicated - setting parameters in the direction. The parameters are indicated, as a rule, for the area where large settlements are located.

You should select the nearby territory from the list and take the parameters of the angle, azimuth for setting. Further, according to these parameters, set the antenna mirror by moving the "dish" in the vertical and horizontal planes.

This will be the "rough" setting. After which the antenna cable is connected to the receiver, and the receiver, in an appropriate way (also through the connecting cable) to the television receiver. Then it remains only to adjust the parameters of the angle and azimuth, achieving the highest quality picture on the TV screen.

Tuning table based on the location of large settlements, which indicates the preferred angle and azimuth parameter for the direction of the antenna

Any receiver by default has a service for monitoring the level of the received signal. Using this functionality, you can configure the equipment with high accuracy. However, weather conditions can make adjustments to the setting. Therefore, it is recommended to perform tuning activities under conditions of a clear, cloudless sky.

Having achieved the appearance of a stable, sufficiently strong control signal on the TV screen, the mirror fastening nuts on the bracket are screwed up to the stop. The equipment on this is considered installed and configured.

Further, they are already moving to the usual user viewing using access cards or through free available channels. How, choose channels and open access - all this is in the user manual.

If a dish is installed in the country for regular viewing of TV programs, most often the signal received by the antenna needs to be improved due to the significant remoteness of the repeater. In this situation, it will help, with the rules for choosing which the article we recommend will acquaint you with.

Conclusions and useful video on the topic

Below is a video material where the home master explains from personal experience all the subtleties of installing the “plate”.

Accordingly, the whole process is filmed on a video camera, so the reader is clearly shown how to install a satellite dish with his own hands:

Despite the visible and invisible difficulties that manifest themselves in the process of installing a satellite "dish", it is quite possible to cope with such work with your own hands. The main point is the scrupulous collection, processing of up-to-date information and, of course, a careful study of the accompanying instructions.

Recently, satellite television has been in great demand, and this is not surprising. This method of broadcasting allows you to improve the quality of channels, increase their number, and it's just much more convenient than using modems or cable TV.

Introduction

It is also worth noting that the installation of a satellite dish can be done independently, and for this you do not need to have unique knowledge in physics Or know how to use a soldering iron. Installing a satellite dish with your own hands, on the contrary, is quick and easy. It will only be necessary to follow the recommendations, as well as to use specific basic knowledge in astronomy.

Using a satellite dish

As a rule, before installing a satellite, many people think about the availability of permission. Is it necessary to obtain permission to install a satellite dish? In fact, you can do without permission, because receiving television services via satellite is free, but it will not be possible to watch all channels.

Many channels will be marked with an asterisk or an exclamation point, which means that broadcasting can only be done after payment. In order to open full access to all channels, you need to buy a special key card.

Permission may be required to install the antenna, but already from the utilities. If the “dish” is installed on the roof of a building or supporting structures, then you will need to obtain a special document that confirms the installation of the satellite, otherwise the antenna can simply be removed and the person will pay a fine.

If you install a satellite dish on the side of the building, that is, where there are no supporting structures, then you can do without permission, but the equipment will constantly suffer from gusts wind, humidity, cold. The impact of external factors significantly reduces the service life.

Many residents of Russia mainly order the installation of a satellite dish through companies that take on all obligations, including obtaining permission to install equipment from the Housing Office.

General information about satellite television

Before you start installing a satellite dish, you need to know some general information that will ultimately help you when setting up the equipment. For starters, you need to understand what is geostationary orbit. This is an orbit that is at an altitude of 35,768 kilometers, and is equal to the equator. It is at this height that the speed of the Earth is equal to the satellite. In fact, the satellite in such conditions stands still.

It is the standing of the satellite in one place that gives the necessary result, which allows it to be used for the rapid transmission of information. This information is necessary when installing the antenna, as it will need to be adjusted to the location of the satellite. In addition, proper tuning can help increase the number of free channels.

Sometimes the question may arise, is it possible to catch the broadcast from several satellites at once. Naturally, since the information feed beams of satellites that are in space often intersect, but basically the channels can be useless. People tune satellite dishes most often based on your country and language. Given this, the number of satellites for tuning can be selected much less. In many regions, only one satellite may be available.

Home satellite TV

When installing satellite television, as mentioned earlier, you will need to set up or, as they say, in professional circles, adjustment. This is a kind of selection of a thin angle in order to find a broadcast from a specific satellite. For the person who does not have experience in setting up a satellite dish, it is quite difficult to do such work. But you can call a master at any time who will make the adjustment in a matter of minutes, because he already has experience, and his eyes are trained to select the required angle.

The cost of such work is not too high, but you should not hope that the adjustment needs to be done only once. Any heavy wind or snowfall can bring down the antenna, and in this case, you will need to call the master. What for? You can do everything with your own hands and gain the necessary experience in setting up practice.

Sometimes, even if all the television settings are observed, there is simply no broadcasting, or you can only see channels with poor quality. The reason is usually that the antenna is installed in villages or villages that are located in the lowlands and at the same time cannot catch the satellite signal with high quality, but it “shines” quite strongly at the right point. Therefore, when buying a satellite, you need to consult about which satellites the “dish” can catch and choose the option that is acceptable to you. After that, when setting up, you should pay attention to some details.

Antenna selection

The choice of a satellite dish basically comes down to buying a model with the required diameter. As a rule, exactly the quality of reception mainly depends on the diameter of the "plate" satellite broadcasting, but if in St. Petersburg 60 cm may be enough, then for the southern regions a longer length will be required, which can be 1.5 m.

It is worth noting that when choosing an antenna, many people think that a large diameter can catch a huge number of channels or improve broadcast quality. No, actually with large plate diameter There may be more channels, but their quality is significantly reduced. Most of the satellite's signal is reflected from the "dish" satellite mirror. When choosing an antenna with a small diameter, the quality is better, because the signal from the satellite is focused. In addition, such equipment is much easier to configure.

We must not forget that when buying equipment, you need to additionally purchase a multifit. This will allow you to install several converters on one satellite dish. Sellers are usually interested in whether the equipment has one socket or multifit. It is necessary to choose the second option, even if only one socket will be used in the end. This not only gives an advantage in using the converter, but if one cell breaks down, the equipment can be switched to other sockets.

Choosing a converter and receiver

The converter is an important part in any satellite dish. As a rule, this part is selected separately for the “plate”, but what part of the work does this equipment do? The converter is used to catch the signal from the satellite and convert a strong signal that breaks through the atmospheric layers into an easy stream of information for the receiver.

Most often, people purchase converters with circular polarization, as they are not as sensitive. Besides, such converters allow you to catch a high-quality signal, which will not change depending on the weather outside or due to the deviation of the satellite in orbit. It is important to remember that the quality of broadcasting will directly depend on the choice of model and converter company.

The receiver, on the contrary, has almost no effect on the quality of broadcasting, and basically its choice comes down to the cost and number of functions.

Installing a satellite dish

On the Internet, you can find a fairly large number of various schemes that allow you to install a satellite dish, but it is difficult to find step-by-step work and recommendations. When installing the antenna, be sure to follow the recommendations that allow you to avoid mistakes.

Adjustment procedure

As a rule, for high-quality alignment of the antenna, you need to take the TV out with the receiver on the street, after connecting it to the extension cord. Then:

Conclusion

Even a novice can install and configure a satellite dish with their own hands. This will save a lot of money, but, most importantly, do not make mistakes and do everything exactly according to the instructions.

Satellite television has long been a curiosity for no one - at the present time, this luxury is available in most homes. But the installation of this design continues to be considered a rather complicated process that cannot be completed without the help of specialists. In some ways, this is really true - it’s not so easy to mount a satellite dish yourself. In addition, if a person does not have certain skills, this process can be dangerous for him. But setting up a satellite tuner without outside help is completely simple.

Possible reasons for no TV signal

If none of the above reasons is suitable, and the receiver categorically refuses to broadcast your favorite TV show, there are two options: seek help from specialists or try to set up the tuner yourself.

Setting up a satellite tuner

So, if for some reason the receiver settings were violated, and instead of your favorite program on the TV screen, the inscription “No signal”, do not rush to get upset. Expensive repairs are not required - it is quite possible to sort out the problem on your own.

First you need to find out what satellites the dish is tuned to. This is not difficult to do if you remember which TV channels the tuner used to receive. Often one antenna is placed on three satellites: Amos, Astra And hotbird, sometimes heads for additional satellites are added to the antenna.

If there is easy access to the antenna

A specific satellite always corresponds to a certain head. If we are talking about a standard antenna for three satellites, they are arranged as follows:

  • extreme left - HotBird (13°E);
  • central - Astra (4.8 ° E);
  • far right - Amos (4° W).

A cable comes out of each head, connecting it to the diseqc switch, which is located at the rear of the antenna. All diseqc inputs are numbered, and if you find out which one the cable from the head is connected to, you can determine which satellite the switch number corresponds to. It is best to create a list and mark the number corresponding to each satellite in it.

Having made a list, you can start setting up the receiver:

If access to the antenna is difficult

If it is not possible to get to the satellite dish, it will be a little more difficult to set up the receiver, since you will have to act by the “poke method”.

So, first you need to complete steps 1 and 2 of the above method. After that, we switch to the “TP Number” tab (in some models - “Frequency”, “Transponder”) and find the working one in the list of frequencies, that is, the one on which the channels of interest to you are broadcast. Press "OK" on the remote control.

Next, we move to the DiSEqC tab (DiSEqC 1.0) and randomly select any number from the list. Click "OK" and look at the indicators of the signal scale. If they approached the maximum value, we leave everything as it is, if not, we try other numbers until the signal scale indicators reach the maximum. We repeat these actions with each of the satellites and perform step 4 of the previous method.

All of these tips apply when channels on the receiver disappeared due to third-party interference(the firmware has crashed, the user has pressed the wrong thing, etc.). But what if the favorite channel simply moved to another frequency, but to one that is not in the tuner's drop-down list?

Setting up TV channels in a satellite receiver

Since the settings menu on different models of tuners may differ, we will consider the principle of searching for channels using the most popular of them as an example.

Some receiver models have a so-called "blind" (that is, automatic) search for all frequencies, however, it is not present everywhere and does not always function correctly, so it is best to search for TV channels manually.

First of all, you need find out the parameters of satellite broadcasting of the necessary channels. Most often, a certain time before switching to another frequency, the channel notifies viewers about this by showing a text message with future broadcast parameters. If such a message appears on the TV screen, it must be recorded. If the change in parameters is taken by surprise, you will have to look for the relevant information in the frequency table.

The TV channels found as a result of such a search are usually displayed at the end of the general list, those previously found are not deleted, although before starting the manipulations, you can delete all available channels by resetting the tuner to factory settings (this will help the corresponding item of the installation menu). For greater clarity, you can watch a video on setting up the receiver.

If you are sure that you have completed all the steps correctly, but you did not succeed in setting up the satellite tuner yourself, it is better not to take risks and contact the nearest specialized center for servicing satellite television systems.
