Antennas for portable radios. Antennas for portable radios Car antennas for walkie-talkies 400 470 MHz

Greetings to all radio amateurs and not only. Today I decided to tell you about one of my quite useful purchase.
An external antenna for a walkie-talkie for a car, with a magnetic mount.
This antenna will be useful to everyone who wants to improve the quality and range of reception / transmission of speech in walkie-talkies installed in cars.
Also in the review I will tell and show how cheap and easy it is to connect such autoantennas to portable handheld radios such as baofeng, etc.
We read further.
One of my old Wishlist is buying a car radio. But for now I use the WOUXUN KG-UV8D (Plus) radio that I have available, and I am saving up for authorization.
In the summer, my family and I often go on vacation in 2-3 cars. Everyone has already had several sets of walkie-talkies for a long time. (for me,) for relatives, simple for communication, but normal Baofeng 777S.

And we usually keep in touch with each other on the road through negotiations through the radio. It is more convenient than cellular communication. First of all, speed. He took the radio, pressed the button and you talk. No need to wait for a call, no need to look for where the cellular connection is, no need to pay for this very connection.
Communication usually takes place within the limits of the PMR frequencies allowed everywhere. But sometimes it happens that even within sight, communication is lost for various reasons. And partly to blame for this is the shielding of the car body. So, in order to fix this, as well as to increase the communication range, I decided that I just needed an external antenna in the car.
I ordered it on BG simply because in my city the prices for such antennas are simply cosmic.
Also, the choice fell on the magnetic antenna due to the fact that sometimes it is necessary to remove the antenna from the car when the car is left standing in the yard for several days. Well, the ability to rearrange this antenna to another car will be very useful.
The antenna has the following characteristics on the website:
Gain: 2.5 / 3 dB
Max.power: 50 W
Impedance: 50 Ohm
Connector Type: UHF
Antenna Length: 9 cm
Cable Length: 5 Meter
Frequency Range: VHF136-174MHz / UHF400-470MHz
Judging by the opinions of people, the antenna is quite normal. And the price is affordable. Therefore, order.
Delivery took almost a month. I received a package in the mail, inside which there was a package like this:

Inside is the antenna itself, and a magnetic stand with a 5 meter cord:

The design of this antenna is quite simple:

On the underside of the magnet there is a sticker made of a material similar to a self-adhesive film. I guess this is pasted on to protect the paintwork of the car:

Stand dimensions 9cm * 4cm.
A 5 meter cable with a standard UHF Male connector comes out from the side of the stand:

The antenna itself is a 9cm * 3cm cylinder:

The upper part is plastic. The bottom is metal. There is a sticker with information in which ranges this antenna works:

The antenna connector is also standard UHF Male:

Antenna assembly:

I will use this antenna in conjunction with the WOUXUN KG-UV8D (Plus) radio:

Since this radio has a different antenna connector, I additionally had to order an adapter on ebay. We have these adapters and a deficit, and they cost about $ 5. In my case, you need an adapter Here is this:

With it and the connected wire, the walkie-talkie looks like this:

Note. If you want to use Baofeng walkie-talkies in the same scenario, you will need to buy a slightly different adapter. It's called It looks like this:

(I also ordered this adapter myself but haven't received it yet)
Now about the installation.
Since the antenna is planned to be removable, I just put it on the roof closer to the rear, and I ran the wire straight through the trunk:

If necessary, I open the trunk and put the antenna inside. And in the salon I'm already turning. In the unfolded state, the wire is run along the passenger side under the rear row and middle row seats and goes under the front passenger seat. And there it is already screwed onto the radio, and the radio itself is put in an ashtray, which is never used for its intended purpose. But it has a convenient cover that holds the radio:

In this form, the radio is always at hand. It can be used by both the driver and the passenger sitting in the front seat.
This is of course less convenient than a car radio with a remote tangent, but for now we use what we have. And you can buy a PTT for 3-5 dollars. I think over this.
Well, that concerns the main purpose of the purchase. Improvements in the quality of communication. And it really is. Despite the fact that I do not have a SWR meter, and I am more than sure that it is advisable to tune the antenna specifically for my car. A recent fishing trip with two cars showed primarily a reduction in noise and an improvement in signal reception. All negotiations were carried out at a frequency of 446.08125mhz.
There are also improvements in range. I was able to catch a VHF station broadcasting at a distance of about 35 km from me. I have never received this station for a simple elastic band. This means that there is an improvement.
Conclusion:
Nice magnet antenna to use. I was personally pleased with the purchase. I can safely recommend this antenna. Despite the fact that I did not give any precise measurements in the review, my experience has shown that there really is an improvement in reception compared to the standard antenna. I can't say how this antenna will behave with a more powerful car radio. But I think it's quite normal.
This concludes the review.

Here are various antennas of the 400-470 MHz range for walkie-talkies from different manufacturers. They are valuable because they can be used for the license-free bands: 433.075 - 434.775 MHz with a power limitation to 0.01 W and 446.00625 - 446.09375 MHz with a power limitation to 0.5 W. Here it is allowed to communicate with radio amateurs, taxi drivers, crane operators, truckers, etc.

Despite the same frequency characteristics, antennas differ. Here are some examples of what you can get when choosing:

  • Alinco EA-87 is an antenna with a center frequency of 4400 MHz with a BNC connector;
  • Anli AT-5R VHF / UHF, in turn, works in two ranges, is made of stainless steel, and its adjustment is carried out by cutting the pin. The device has high wind resistance;
  • The Comet CHL-250H fits into a magnetic base with a PL connector. Its length is 96 cm, the maximum power is 200 W, and it also operates in two bands: 144 and 430 MHz.

We will be happy to advise you on the range, compatibility and characteristics of these antennas. Call us!

An external antenna for a portable radio station is one of the most demanded items in the product catalog of the RadioExpert online store. Traditionally, portable devices have been equipped with shortened antennas. This is because the goal is to achieve the maximum acceptable parameters of the device itself. Typically, such elements have a length that varies in the range of 11-20 cm. Thus, the dimensions are preserved, but the signal efficiency suffers.
Today it is proposed to buy antennas for wearable radio stations at a relatively inexpensive price. Manufacturers of walkie-talkies specialize in the production of auxiliary elements and accessories. The world-famous companies Kenwood, YAESU and others appear on the market.

The characteristics vary depending on the position selected. Before ordering and buying products, you need to study:

  • antenna type;
  • brands of radio stations for which this or that model is suitable;
  • active antenna frequency range for portable radios;
  • connector type.

Traditionally, the complete set of an element implies the presence of instructions, where you can study all the rules and characteristics in even more detail. The cost of production is quite affordable for all users of radio stations.

What are antennas?

Traditionally, antennas of mobile radio stations appear in the form of a spiral, which is covered with a polymer sheath. It sits on a dielectric rod that can bend.
It is important that any antenna for a portable radio station reacts absolutely steadily to the influence of the external environment. Convenience and practicality of its operation is complemented by the ability to provide high-quality, uninterrupted communication. The price is really acceptable, but before you buy this or that model, it will be correct to make a selection by studying the section with the characteristics of the radio station, on which it is supposed to install an additional remote mini-antenna in the future.
Sales are carried out for residents of Russia and the CIS countries. We offer to carry out the delivery of antennas for portable radio stations. Conditions and speed depend on the location of the recipient. The purchase will be inexpensive, and the practical benefits are significant and significant for those who cannot do without a special device.
