Jiayu g3 description. Another review of Jiayu G3S. Sun behavior

A budget communicator from the Middle Kingdom that could be a hit

The current hero of the review has long attracted the attention of the public with its characteristics and price. It became one of the first, if not the first, communicators that made it possible to fulfill the dream of many buyers: to buy a smartphone with a dual-core processor, a large display with a resolution of 720 × 1280 pixels and support for two SIM-cards - for symbolic money for a device with such characteristics.

A "squiggle" happened in the chain of events, and Jiayu G3, namely, he was talking about, ended up in the editorial office after his somewhat alter ego - iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X, a communicator of a domestic company, but with a distinct Chinese ancestry, having a twin brother as UMI X1. But it's okay: the more interesting it will be to compare both devices, because the price tag on them differs almost twice.

Before proceeding to describe the impressions of the new product, it is necessary to make a reservation that the Jiayu G3 can currently be purchased only in China, it is not officially supplied to Russia.

Scope of delivery and characteristics

Jiayu G3 has perhaps one of the most unusual packaging, at least among those that we have come across: a thin white cardboard cover is put on a transparent plastic box, most of all resembling a food container, which, in turn, contains a smartphone and accessories. It should be noted the strength of this structure, which is undoubtedly important when sending a purchase by mail. At the same time, in order to open this plastic "ark", you need to work hard and suffer a little, especially if you do it for the first time.

There is no particularly useful information on the packaging of the communicator; for a compatriot, only the name of the device, the name of the manufacturer and the address of its website will be clear. The rest of the scant information is presented exclusively in hieroglyphs.

The Jiayu G3 accessories set is standard: rechargeable battery, charger, Micro-USB cable, wired stereo headset and documentation. As a nice bonus, there is a protective film for the communicator screen. All accompanying documentation available contains text exclusively in Chinese.

The characteristics of the Jiayu G3 communicator are as follows:

  • MediaTek MTK6577 processor (two ARM Cortex-A9 cores, 1 GHz frequency) with PowerVR SGX 531 video core;
  • Operating system Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich);
  • IPS display, diagonal 4.5 ″, 720 × 1280 pixels, capacitive, with multitouch;
  • RAM 1 GB, main flash memory 4 GB (2.5 GB available);
  • Support for microSDHC memory cards with a capacity of up to 64 GB;
  • Support for two SIM-cards;
  • GSM EDGE / GPRS communication (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) for both SIM cards;
  • Communication 3G HSPA (2100 MHz) for one SIM-card;
  • Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR;
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b / g;
  • FM radio;
  • GPS + A-GPS;
  • Position sensor in space, accelerometer, magnetometer;
  • Camera with CMOS sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels, autofocus, LED flash, an additional camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels;
  • Lithium-ion battery, capacity 2750 mAh;
  • Dimensions 135 x 65 x 10.8 mm;
  • Weight 131 g.

The Jiayu G3 and iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X specifications are the same on almost every point. Of course, the two communicators differ in size and weight, but this is largely due to the difference in size and capacity of the batteries of these two devices. On the whole, the parameters of the Jiayu G3's hardware seem to be very tempting considering the price of the communicator. The main positive point is a capacious battery, negative and mysterious - somewhat outdated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules.

It should be noted right away that the described capabilities of the Jiayu G3 are characteristic of the firmware with which the device went on sale, and screenshots were taken with it. It is, in particular, based on Android 4.0.4. Meanwhile, at the time of the announcement of the article, a new firmware based on Android 4.1.2 was already available, and at one point, which we will discuss later, the functionality of the device may change significantly relative to the "out of the box" version.

Design and appearance

In the era of struggle for the title of "thinnest smartphone" Jiayu G3 looks very extraordinary - a kind of weighty and thick black plastic "brick". Inadvertently, there is a feeling that it can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also, for example, for hammering nails or as a weapon of self-defense.

Despite the classic body shape and light weight for its dimensions, Jiayu G3 is definitely a man's smartphone. It is in a man's hand that this "bar" looks the most organic and impressive. It is difficult to imagine that the hero of the review will be of interest to the fair sex and, moreover, will fit in a woman's hand.

The thick side edges allow you to confidently hold the communicator with one hand, despite the overall slippery plastic of the case. But, unfortunately, the size of the smartphone also limits its ability to fit in various pockets. A comfortable grip, moreover, does not mean that the communicator can be easily operated with the fingers of one hand: in order to reach all corners of the display, which is elongated in length, the body of the smartphone must be intercepted in the middle, sacrificing the reliability of the grip.

Outwardly, the hero of the review resembles several families of devices at once: there is something from Sony smartphones in which the lower part of the case is highlighted, there is something elusive from the iPhone 4 (probably the design of the upper part of the bezel and a cutout for the telephone speaker), but most of all in it from the appearance of good old communicators with the now deceased Windows Mobile - for example, the E-ten models, which differed most of all in the thickness of the case, Chinese plastic and, in general, "uncomplicated" design. The main impression from the design of the communicator is that this is how a smartphone with Windows Mobile would have looked in 2006, if someone in the Middle Kingdom at that time decided to release a communicator without hardware keys, with only one touch screen on the front panel.

The Jiayu G3 case is made of plastic and metal, the first of two types: matte black - for most of the case, glossy black - for the front panel and ends. The metal is presented exclusively in the form of two inserts on both sides of the protective glass of the display. They do not look very organic, the impression is that the developers tried to use them to make the communicator more "representative", but achieved only the opposite effect. All panels - both plastic and metal - are excellent at collecting fingerprints.

In general, the build quality and design of the communicator are satisfactory. There are no creaks and backlashes between the parts, nothing rings or dangles. The battery cover is held by several latches and detaches with some effort and diligence. The few keys are embossed and have a distinct stroke.

On the front panel of Jiayu G3, in addition to the display, there are three touch keys (all backlit), a telephone speaker, an additional camera lens, two sensors and a communicator status LED. For the presence of the latest smartphone developers should be praised separately. The entire front panel, with the exception of metal inserts, is covered with protective glass, similar in properties to the well-known Gorilla Glass.

The name of the manufacturer and its logo are applied only to the battery cover, which is the back panel of the smartphone. There are holes for the main speaker, camera lens and LED flash. Detaching the cover reveals a view of the huge battery, slots for SIM-cards and memory cards (you cannot replace them without removing the battery).

You can remove the rear plastic panel only by picking it up with your fingernail in the lower right corner of the communicator body - this is where a special recess is located. On the right side of the smartphone there is a double key for controlling the volume of the device's sound system. The left side of Jiayu G3 is empty.

Below the hero of the review there is a microphone and a Micro-USB-compatible connector. Above is the power key and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The location of all controls in Jiayu G3 is standard, but, however, there are several questions about the layout and design of the communicator. Firstly, it is surprising that there is a large amount of free space on the front panel, which is not occupied by anything - the smartphone could simply be made smaller. Secondly, the bottom of the bezel feels completely redundant, as does the plastic rim around the display. Thirdly, instead of touch keys, mechanical ones would painlessly be placed, but the developers followed the lead of fashion. Of course, all this can be considered nit-picking; the communicator turned out the way it is. Moreover, the dimensions of the case may have been dictated by the size of the large battery, which needed to fit inside. As a result, the answer to the question whether the device is pleasant is different for everyone, but for me personally it is negative - I really want to quickly hide the Jiayu G3 in some kind of cover. It remains only to note that there are also gray and silver versions of the smartphone on sale.

Software

The communicator runs on the Android 4.0.4 operating system (the firmware for 4.1.2 has recently appeared). The system is presented almost in its original form, there are no additional shells. Initially, the system is set to Chinese as the main language, so to switch the interface to Russian you will have to work a little and wander around the settings menu.

From the system lock screen, you can access the camera control program or the main screen. There are no custom icons or widgets on its five tabs.

However, there are several additional applications in the Jiayu G3 firmware. They can be divided into two categories: useful programs and not so much - at least for Russian-speaking users. The first group includes Flashlight, File Manager and Launched Applications Manager - all of them do not need any special presentation or explanation of how they work.

The principle of operation of the program for managing two channels of cellular communication is the same for all communicators based on the MediaTek platform that have been tested. The owner of the smartphone has the opportunity to choose which of the two GSM channels will be used in different situations: when making calls, sending SMS and MMS messages, for data transmission. One of the two SIM-cards can be designated as the preferred one, and it will be it that will be used to perform the mentioned operations. Or, you can opt out of this setting and make a choice whenever the need arises.

Display and sound

Like a couple of iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X / UIM X1, the hero of the review attracts the attention of the public with its display: for a budget smartphone, its characteristics cannot be called anything other than wonderful. The diagonal of the IPS-matrix is 4.5 ″, the resolution is 720 × 1280 pixels, and as a result, the density of dots per inch (one of the most popular parameters for comparing smartphones in recent years) is 326 ppi. It is worth pointing out again that the pixel density of this display is higher than that of the Samsung Galaxy S 3, less than that of the iPhone 4, and exactly the same as the pixel density of the Retina matrix in the iPhone 5.

The screen is covered with a protective glass, up to 7 simultaneous touches are recognized, the viewing angles are very comfortable, the backlight brightness is adjusted automatically, but in the bright sun the picture on the display becomes difficult to see.

Alexey Kudryavtsev, editor of the Monitors and Projectors and TV sections, will tell you more about the Jiayu G3 screen.

The front surface of the screen is covered with a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Based on the reflection of bright light sources, there is a very effective antiglare filter to reduce the brightness of reflected objects. There is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating on the outer surface of the screen, so fingerprints do not appear as quickly as in the case of ordinary glass, but are removed more easily. Note that the efficiency of the oleophobic coating of this screen is quite high.

With manual brightness control, its maximum value was 350 cd / m², and the minimum was 22 cd / m². The maximum value is not outstanding, but in principle sufficient - even in bright daylight, you can see something on the screen. In complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable level. There is an automatic brightness control by a light sensor, which in complete darkness and in an office illuminated with artificial light reduces the brightness to about 50 cd / m² (acceptable), and in a very bright environment, the brightness rises to the maximum. At low brightness, there is no backlight modulation at all, so there is no backlight flickering.

The Jiayu G3 uses an IPS-type matrix, so the screen has very good viewing angles without inverting shades and without significant color shift, even with large gaze deviations from the perpendicular to the screen. True, the black field when deflected diagonally becomes lighter and, depending on the direction of deflection, acquires a red-violet or greenish-gray tint. However, in this smartphone, this increase in the brightness of the black field is very weak. When viewed from a perpendicular view, the uniformity of the black and white fields is good. The response time for the transition black-white-black is 23 ms (11 ms on + 12 ms off), the transition between the half-tones of 25% and 75% (by the numerical value of the color) and back takes 27 ms in total. There is a certain brightness correction depending on the overall lightness of the image (the brightness decreases for light images and increases for dark images), but it only works when displaying grayscale images, and when displaying a black or white field (or primary colors) in the entire screen, there is no adjustment. Why such a function is needed remains a mystery, but in the end, although the gamma curve plotted at 32 points did not reveal a blockage either in the highlights or in the shadows, it had a very strange shape that did not at all resemble a standard power function with an exponent of 2.2:

The contrast is high - 960: 1. The color gamut is very close to sRGB:

The spectra show that the matrix filters mix the components together to a moderate extent:

The color temperature is slightly higher than the standard 6500 K, and the ΔE index is quite high, about 12. However, both parameters change little over the entire part of the gray scale that matters, so there are no special complaints about the color rendition subjectively. (The dark areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance there is not very important, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

As a result, in terms of the totality of characteristics, the screen of this smartphone reasonably deserves a high assessment.

Both speakers of the Jiayu G3 are, frankly, unimportant. First of all, this refers to the sound quality: if the telephone speaker adds a "cold effect" to the voices of all interlocutors (during a conversation one gets the feeling that they have a stuffy nose), then the main speaker simply starts to emit a grinding and creak along with low frequencies at full power ... Speaking of sound power, both speakers have average. The interlocutors also complained about not very high-quality voice transmission by the built-in microphone. Thus, the conclusion is as follows: the quality of the sound subsystem significantly spoils the impression of the hero of the review.

The sound quality of the complete stereo headset, on the contrary, turned out to be at a good level, and its white color and comfortable ear pads caused only positive emotions. However, in any barrel of honey there is also a significant fly in the ointment, in this case it turned out to be a large resistance of the headset speakers. As a result, even at maximum power, the sound from them is not as loud as we would like - for most cases, sufficient, but those who like to listen to music in transport will have to purchase other headphones.

The headset control unit with a microphone and a call answering key is not detachable; a clip is provided for attaching it to clothing.

The communicator is equipped with an FM radio that works only when headphones are connected. The signal reception quality is average, the control program has the functions of automatic search for stations, making a list of channels, recording audio and recognizing RDS signals.

Wireless interfaces and communication

Jiayu G3 is equipped with all necessary wireless modules for modern life. It can be noted right away that there were no serious problems with their work during the testing of the communicator.

The characteristics of the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules look somewhat strange for a 2012 smartphone based on the MediaTek platform: for example, only the outdated version of the Bluetooth 2.0 stack is supported, and the Wi-Fi module, judging by its description, is not capable of working in 802.11n networks - only in "Slow" networks 802.11b / g. Most likely, this is a limitation of the firmware of this particular smartphone model, since the same iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X, built on an absolutely identical platform, has both Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n.

Since the hero of the review has one communication module, it is impossible to simultaneously make calls or transfer data over two networks (or one, but in two-channel mode), despite the fact that there are two slots for SIM-cards.

Unfortunately, nothing positive can be said about the operation of the GPS receiver in the Jiayu G3 - they simply did not manage to use it properly. For almost 10 minutes, the satellite navigation receiver was unable to pick up a single signal from the satellites! And this is with the included A-GPS and EPO - technologies that can significantly speed up the process of determining coordinates. As a result, the communicator was only able to approximately determine its location based on data from base stations of the cellular network and Wi-Fi access points. The problematic GPS receiver has significantly tarnished the reputation of the Jiayu G3. It is possible to restore its operability, at least the network has a description of the necessary actions, but this requires root access and a certain level of skills from the owner of the smartphone. Fortunately, there is information that on the new official firmware, which we did not have time to check, the problem with the GPS operation has already been fixed - well, or it has become less pronounced.

Cameras

The cameras in Jiayu G3 and iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X are exactly the same. The matrix of the main one has a resolution of 8 megapixels, it is complemented by an autofocus system and an LED flash. The additional camera on the front side of the smartphone has a light sensor with a resolution of 2 megapixels.

The shooting control program is built into the operating system, so we are already familiar with its interface. In general, it is convenient, but in order to get to the desired setting, you often have to aim at small icons and wade through long menus.

The camera has a great variety of settings, there is no point in describing all of them here. It is worth mentioning, however, that the list of camera modes contains 4 items: photography, video recording, panoramic shooting and panoramic macro photography.

The speed of the camera and the launch of the application itself are high, however, the principle of operation of the autofocus system in the hero of the review, as well as in the iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X, takes some getting used to and does not seem very convenient. Instead of setting focus every time you shoot, the system continuously calculates it, constantly focusing on one or another object in the frame. And in the end, the picture may not turn out the way it was intended: either the system will focus in the wrong place, or the communicator itself will move, and the settings will "go down". Of course, the focus area can be specified manually by simply touching the screen in the right place, but, firstly, it is not always convenient, especially when shooting with one hand, and secondly, this operation negates all the advantages in shooting speed, for the sake of which, judging in all, the developers of the program and the autofocus system have established such a strange algorithm for their work.

Be that as it may, Jiayu G3 knows how to shoot the surrounding reality, and it does it quite well for such an inexpensive communicator (although, by and large, the quality of the images, of course, does not stand up to any criticism). The resolution of images can be up to 3264 × 2448 pixels. Video recording is carried out with 720p resolution and 30 frames per second, recording format - MPEG-4, H.263 / AAC-LC. Only the amount of free memory on the card limits the maximum movie length.

Autonomous work

The capacity of the regular Jiayu G3 battery is an impressive 2750 mAh. Frankly speaking, few smartphones on the market can boast of such a "thrifty" battery.

The presence of a capacious battery, coupled with a very economical platform, should, in theory, ensure a very long-term operation of a Chinese smartphone in autonomous mode. Only a large and bright display can spoil the statistics here, but only tests will show whether this is so.

So, in the mode of reading an e-book with automatic brightness control of the backlight, the communicator worked for 17 hours. Listening to music with the screen turned off discharged the battery by 20% in 15 hours: unfortunately, we did not have enough time for a longer test, but even by this indicator it can be judged that in this mode the smartphone can work for several days. The last test is 1080p video playback, its result is 4.5 hours of continuous operation of the Jiayu G3.

The conclusions are unambiguous: a capacious battery and the MediaTek platform allowed Jiayu G3 to become one of the "longest-lived" devices of this class on the market. He lost only a little to the record holder - communicator Philips Xenium W732.

Performance and speed

The capabilities of the MediaTek MTK6577 processor are already well known to us; together with their younger "brother" - MTK6575 - they firmly established themselves in the SoC segment for budget smartphones, which began to appear in large quantities on the market, and some of them managed to visit our editorial office. We examined the combination of the MTK6577 chip, 1 GB of RAM and a display with a resolution of 720 × 1280 pixels in terms of performance in the iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X review, so there is no reason to expect any revelations in this regard from the Jiayu G3, and its capabilities are easy to predict ... However, you can and should check a smartphone in performance tests from our traditional set in order to be sure of the forecasts.

Quadrant Standard:

The assumptions turned out to be correct, the results of the iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X and Jiayu G3 tests are on the same level. Both communicators demonstrated good performance for budget devices, at the level of top-end smartphones two years ago. Of course, they cannot compete with the flagships of the past, 2012, but given the HD-resolution of the display, one can only rejoice that inexpensive communicators are able to satisfy the needs of most users in most tasks. The sluggishness of the operating system interface is still encountered in some places and sometimes, but in general there are no annoying moments, and the rare "brakes" are easily explained by the peculiarities of the Android OS itself.

It remains to look at the results of two more benchmarks and test the HD video playback capabilities.

Support for hardware HD video playback, as such, in the Jiayu G3, as well as in the iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X, is missing. The capabilities of a single processor are not enough for smooth playback of "massive" videos.

Along with the update of the operating system to Android 4.1, iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X now supports hardware decoding of H.264 video. Most likely, this happened in the new firmware Jiayu G3. How smooth and high-quality playback hardware decoding can provide can now be seen if you follow the links in the table presented earlier. All videos were opened with a standard player.

conclusions

Regretfully, but we have to admit: Jiayu G3 disappointed. Initial positive impressions gradually changed to negative ones. The desire that once arose to purchase a communicator with similar characteristics finally disappeared after a problem with the GPS receiver was discovered. But even before that, the opinion of the communicator was spoiled by average-quality speakers and a microphone, as well as a lurid design.

The probability that the mentioned problems are peculiarities of a particular instance, of course, exists, but playing the lottery when ordering a smartphone from China seems excessive. Especially if you take into account the presence on the Russian market of an almost complete clone of the review's hero - iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X, in the case of the purchase of which at least there is someone to present a claim and return the purchase.

By and large, the Jiayu G3 has only one advantage over the iconBIT NetTAB Mercury X and its Chinese twin UMI X1 - a 2750 mAh battery and, as a result, longer battery life.

The appearance of the communicator is a matter of taste, but subjectively, the combination of different body materials and the abundance of empty, unoccupied space do not paint the smartphone. A small plus sign is the presence of an LED indicator.

When asked what will outweigh: the disadvantages of a smartphone, albeit potential, or its attractive price, opportunities and an abundance of various "bonuses" from Chinese sellers (a cover, a bumper and a second battery can be obtained for free) - everyone can give an answer on their own. In the end, you can order the same UMI X1 if you really want to save some money.

How did you get this device? What were the criteria for the selection? Where and how much was purchased?

I ordered it on Aliexpress. I looked closely, read thematic forums. Selection criteria - reliability, long-lasting battery, camera with flash, Gorilla glass on the screen, viewing angles, behavior in the sunlight, two SIM cards, Android 4.2, quad-core processor, at least 1 GB of RAM, screen size no more than 5 inches and no resolution less HD. I didn’t buy for myself, for my son, a second-year college student, and on his scholarship. But, as always happens, although he participated in the choice, I slipped the options to him. So we chose "together" what I wanted for myself. I ordered it on the 20th of November, and already on the 21st of December I was holding it in my hands. The seller sent it by Singapore Post. The journey from China to Kazakhstan took about 3 weeks (including the preparation-checking of the phone by the seller), and the parcel went through Kazakhstan for a week.

The price of the phone at the time of purchase was MNT 169.99. She has grown slightly now. The set included a gift silicone case and a stylus. For some time now, the second battery is not included in the set of telephones sent by mail due to the restrictions of the postal services.

Unboxing video:

First start-up:

What do you like? Strengths, dignity.

The slab-like body of this phone doesn't look so monotonous. True, some still see similarities in it with other brands, such as iPhone for example. I don’t know, I don’t have such associations. But the Samsung paddles had time to pall. Moreover, they have become the favorite telephones of the female part (its young part) of the population. Almost every second girl under 30 uses a phone over 5 inches.

So, I repeat, the size of 4.5 inches today is the lower limit of the screen size of a phone that claims to be an HD screen. You can, of course, fit the same number of pixels into a smaller size, but there won't be any sense. And the shape of the case, angular at first glance, evokes a feeling of reliability.

I want to explain myself right away. Why don't I call my phone by name? I, of course, know how his name is read. Jiayu G3S. I specially launched GoogleTranslator to listen to how it sounds in Chinese. It turned out something like Dzya-U-I. I can’t call such a good phone like that, my tongue doesn’t turn. To call, as they say about him on the forums, "chew" or in general "Egg" - also, because I like him. In what follows, I will simply refer to it as a smartphone or a telephone. That's what I call at home.

For those who did not watch the unpacking video, I will tell you what exactly came in the box. For the video, by the way, I apologize, I shot with a camera that does not have the function of recording video in HD quality, and I still can't buy a tripod for it.

So, the box contained:

  • the phone itself is in a green silicone case and with a glued transport film;
  • 1 A charger with a Chinese (well, at least not ours) plug;
  • adapter for the charger to our sockets;
  • USB-microUSB cable for connecting to a computer and for a charger;
  • film on the screen;
  • the stylus put by the seller (as well as the cover) as a gift.

    Equipment:

    Phone types:

    To be honest, the green case of a toxic acid color caused a slight shock. I ordered a black phone. It goes without saying to me that the cover should also be black. But that's what I thought. Phone makers, it turns out, do not take into account the wishes and put cases in boxes on a random basis. Well at least they didn't put pink. I expressed my "phi" to the seller, but by that time the combination of colors green-black had already become familiar and even familiar. I'm not offended for the cover on the seller. By the way, a cover for this phone is not a luxury, but a necessity. According to reviews, the black paint from the sides of the phone next to the screen begins to peel off over time, and the cover protects against this. And, of course, some kind of protection in case of falling. Another plus of the cover - the phone holds in hands like a glove, does not strive to slip out.

    Frame

    Heavy, metallic. Of course, it is not all metal. I do not mean a screen - it is supposed to be glass. But the back cover of the battery compartment looks flimsy. This feeling appears when you take it off, it is thin, the latches are unfastened with a crunch, causing fears for their integrity. But in the assembled state, the phone feels like a monolithic (and it does not creak or play) a black bar, pleasant to the touch. The surfaces are smooth, but does not slip out of hands. It gets smeared with fingers quickly, it is also quickly rubbed off. The screen has no oleophobic coating, and the fingers remain. I pasted a film on the screen. I didn’t stick to my own - I went to the service, paid for their matte film, and they glued it to me. Enough for a while, with a matte film, fingerprints on the screen are less noticeable.

    Silicone case, sat on the body perfectly. It has become much more comfortable to hold. A sort of replacement for softtach. One more thing I can say about the cover. It has a rough surface and gets dirty quickly in the field. And since the surface is not smooth, it takes effort to wash.

    Screen

    The screen size is just right for one-handed operations. In most cases, the second hand is not needed. Well, unless you press the screen lock button, it is not quite conveniently located at the top. But unlocking also works from the volume control keys. The volume down key can be used as a shutter button in the camera application. I haven’t figured out yet how autofocus works.

    More about the screen. The viewing angles are excellent in my opinion. I specially took pictures from different angles. No comments.

    Cameras

    The main camera of the phone. It is eight megapixel. In order to, on occasion, film the bus schedule, a beautiful view, a child who is not averse to posing - all this is possible with good lighting. There is autofocus, and it even copes with its task. But not fast, in low light conditions it slows down even at home. However, it is an ordinary telephone camera, not KarlZais of course.

    In the camera settings, you can set it to "full screen". With this function, the phone takes pictures with an aspect ratio of 16:10 (maybe 16: 9, there was no time to check). But at the same time, the maximum resolution is reduced to 6 megapixels. That is, in fact, 2 extra stripes at the top and bottom of the photo are cut off. I don’t presume to judge, but such a decision seemed strange to me. The functions include panoramic shooting (there is, okay, the quality is disgusting, made for show), shooting a 3D image (this is when you shoot an object from different angles and you can also view it, but only on the phone), quality settings, etc. Didn't understand, didn't test all of them.

    Although the front camera is declared 2 megapixels, I'm somehow not sure about this. She has a very poor quality. In order to capture a self-portrait for an avatar on a forum or in a Google account, more will come down.

    Filming. Both cameras support HD shooting. Frontal supports quoted.

    See examples below.

    Main camera video:

    I hope you are not offended that I did not shoot a longer video? In my opinion, everything is clear. For some reason I was hoping for the best. Maybe things will be different in good lighting?

    Performance

    Well, I went to the place where this phone is on horseback.

    The MTK6589T processor with 4 cores of 1.5 GHz, with 1 GB of RAM in a pair provides sufficient performance for almost all tasks that may arise. Recently, people still complained about the brakes even in the Android interface. Now the time has finally come when you can forget about it. I had no reason to complain.

    Below are screenshots of benchmarks.

    Quadrant:

    NenaMark:

    AnTuTu 3DRating:

    Operating system

    The operating system Android 4.2.1 is installed, not naked. A number of applications unnecessary for non-Chinese are preinstalled.

    Your lunch. You need to get used to it. But after a couple of days, the desire to put, for example, Apex - was gone.

    Ruth was out of the box. Therefore, it was not necessary to look for ways to rut. Titanium restored everything from another android device, demolished the Chinese, and that's it, the settings are over.

    About the built-in memory: part of 4 GB is occupied by the system. The remaining 2.8 GB are allocated for installing applications. There is no room for the built-in flash card at all. Therefore, without an additional flash card, it is impossible even to take a photo. To some, the decision will seem controversial. For such, there are always programs for repartitioning the phone's memory or simply rolling another firmware. Fortunately, there are many of them in the open spaces of w3bsit3-dns.com and china-iphone. For example, the same LewaOS. I didn’t put it on just because the phone wasn’t meant for me personally. And the advantages of having all the available built-in memory allocated for applications are obvious. No need to puzzle over where to find the downloaded file, which sdcard, external or internal, for example. Well, of course, everyone has their own preferences. And now it's not a problem to buy memory cards.

    Another plus that I almost forgot about is status LED... When charging, it lights up red to 90% of the charge. Then green, which can be confusing (the charge hasn't finished yet). When discharged to 15%, it also signals in red about the need to find an outlet. In fact, you don't need to worry too much, for a couple of hours or even more the charge will be enough (if you do not continue to play or download something big). It also signals green about missed calls, SMS and other messages. Conveniently.

    About battery capacity I can say a little - the Antutu tester knocked out 600 with a small score. These are parrots. During use (several days) I charged every other day. Not very active use was enough for two days.

    Battery consumption screens:

    Pictures of the charger:

    I did not use my native charger. I have several of them from other phones. The cord is a bit short, so I use the charger with the longer one. I did not test charging for speed. Charges overnight and okay.

    Multitouch

    I describe it simply because the first time I encountered a 7-touch multitouch. As the saying goes, "neither two nor one and a half." 5 touches, it seems to me, would be enough for the eyes. When I tested it, I could hardly fit these very 7 fingers on a kind of rather big screen.

    Multitouch test:

    Navigation

    Yes, I tested it. Yes, I got the result. Cold start in 111 seconds on the windowsill in the apartment (3rd floor, facing south-west into the courtyard of the same 6-storey buildings). Previously, using a header from the forum on china-iphone, I configured it. This test was made for the sake of the test. Navigation itself is needed like a mare's fifth leg.

    By the way, there are a lot of reviews about the incorrect operation of GPS in this phone, that sometimes it is necessary to re-solder something there. Perhaps this is so, but by the side I passed.

    Sun behavior

    Here are photos of the phone in the sun. The photographs, I must say right away, were taken at home, for the only reason: the frost hit at 20 degrees, and I did not smile at all to go out with a phone and a camera in my hands. The photographs give a general idea of the headroom of the screen. You can see (and what can you see there - see) and read the message written on the screen even in bright light, well, maybe you will have to cover it a little from glare with your hand. By the way, I did not check the automatic brightness control, and I don’t presume to say how it behaves.

    Photos of the phone screen in the sun at maximum brightness, at medium and at minimum:

    Telephone component

    Calls, dials, you can hear the interlocutor, you can hear me. Everything is standard. When installing a new SIM card, it asks which one to use for voice calls, which one for video (and for 3G, respectively). You can configure it to always ask which SIM to call, which message to send. In the phone book, you can bind a number to a SIM card. I have seen something else only at LewaOS. There, the dialer interface allows you to select a SIM card for calls by moving the slider under the dialer.

    About communication standards

    Both SIM cards support 3G WCDMA2100 standard and no other. That is, if your favorite provider works in a different standard, then you will not see 3G as your ears. I ran into this, "burned out" and put the unsupported SIM card on the shelf for a while, while the phone was with me. With two other providers that we have in our area, the phone works without any problems. The connection parameters had to be hammered in manually, I did not pick it up myself. And the speed was 64 kbps. After 2 days of trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I called support - they rebooted something there, I turned off and on the phone, and oops - the speed of up to 7 Mbps increased for reception. And I sinned on the body.

    HD video playback

    Especially for such cases, I have 2 test videos in FullHD quality on the flash drive (trailers of some films). The stock player played both of them, but one of them was silent. The reason is that you need to disable hardware decoding, but in the settings it does not have it. I used a standard MX-player for such cases. Both are played, and with sound. A very controversial issue about the need to play such a video on a small screen. Films never weigh so little. There are 7 GB or more. Is it better to use a TV? Or a computer with a good screen?

    Games

    For the test I installed Real Racing 3. My son played. What can you say? Brakes appear, but only with a large number of cars. There is an image in the rear-view mirrors. The son did not feel any discomfort during the game. He will hand over the session, get the phone back (if he handles it well) and test it again.

    What's not to like? Weaknesses, disadvantages.

    Its front camera is weak.

    What are you missing in it?

    WCDMA900 for tele2.

    What features do you use frequently?

    Skype. Viber delivered. Reader. Internet. Gmail. Camera.

    What features do you use occasionally?

    Mail.ru agent.

    What functions are you not using at all?

    Bluetooth did not even check. Now I don't have a headset (I gave it to good hands as unnecessary until I died of old age), and I was too lazy to connect to phones.

    Did the device have to be repaired?

    No, and I hope not.

    What kind of troubles happened with the device? What glitches have you noticed?

    There are no such.

    Please try to compare this device with other models you have used.

    An extremely good Chinese smartphone. Maybe because of the economy, I had to deal with devices that require some additional steps to configure, finish, reflash, etc. But this apparatus does not need this. All the operations to fit the smartphone to fit took 2-3 hours, including restoring applications from backup and photographing the unpacking process and the first start-up.

    What else can you say?

    This is a work phone. Not for entertainment, show-off, toys. While it can do all of these things too, the processor and memory allow you to do just about anything on it. But, again, this is a reliable phone for work. I lost a bit of interest in him when I realized that there was no need to tweak and tinker with him. The quality of Chinese smart phones (and not only smart ones) is growing and very noticeable. Let's wait for the opportunity to test something 8-core.

    9 out of 10. Took away one point for not having the WCDMA900. I recommend it to everyone for purchase.

    I have been using it for almost 2.5 years, a very good phone model of its kind, the price is fully consistent with the quality, I used it carefully, dropped it to a minimum, even wet it a little, everything went well and works fine, even retained its presentation.

    Show more

    Advantages: Design - very nice design, affordable price, I took it in 2014, almost 5k rubles, despite the fact that the analogs of this phone for such a price were at times inferior to this model, a good camera, autofocus, RAM.

    Disadvantages: There are gaps (slots) where the screen is clogged with dirt and dust, water can get in, glitches with gps, although it can be solved somehow programmatically, through the firmware, a small memory of its own, but in principle it is difficult to even attribute this to the disadvantages, battery - I thought it would take longer to keep the charge with active use, if you actively use it, then it will not be enough for a day, if it is rational, then you can stretch it for three days

    Advantages: I don't play toys, I needed a phone for work and coped with this task perfectly. In the first 2 years of my life, I quite decently pulled up to 5 applications. The camera is excellent in good light.

    Disadvantages: with constant use, the battery is barely enough for 8 hours of operation, but it is worth giving a discount for the fact that every other day I dropped it very much every other day, but every day. two years later, the flashlight and autofocus, buttons stopped working, a very funny bug appeared: in the middle of the day, the phone rewinds all actions until the alarm clock rings, and it does it in a couple of minutes: remember your day in two minutes.

    This is generally good China. I was not lucky with WiFi, others did not seem to have any problems. I took it for $ 220 (6800r) in China in 2012. Enough so far, I'm not going to change. They work without brakes: the Internet, Yandex applications, a reader, WSP Office office documents, remote administration (RDP, TeamViewer), a USB flash drive, a USB modem mode simply saves if the stationary Internet breaks when playing poker, pictures for information, barcode recognition , Skype, ICQ, Navitel, 2gis, organizer, reminders, Tower Defense games, PS and 888 poker clients. Well, for the latter, a tablet is better and more convenient.

    Pluses: Screen (no dots, HD) Price! Battery Build quality The camera is fine for a phone, but doesn't like room lighting. Support for SD 2x SIM Well sewn without problems Glass - not a single scratch - there is no film and cover (almost 3 years already) In general, the filling is very good for its price. In the mode of reading books and dialers - I keep it for 6 days (without data transfer, WiFi and a navigator. It is necessary to ensure that the processor does not stick at the maximum)

    Disadvantages: The back cover does not like to be opened often - it breaks along the edge. GPS - not how it failed to fix it - it clings for 5-15 minutes on any firmware without an Internet and with any patches - it catches badly in the car, you have to keep it outside the window until it catches satellites. WiFi - on the stock and its clones (4.0), I was always torn 2-3 times a minute, on firmware based on 4.2 WiFi is stable, but there are other jambs - black screens after calls, freezes, reboots during a call, confusion of internal memory with the correct configuration of drives (depending on the firmware). PS: I finally found a firmware that works fine - on w3bsit3-dns.com from Xperia. Only 1 noticeable minus - after charging, the percent sticks to 100%, it seems to be being treated, but I just overload and pass. I also added the microphone volume to myself.

    I bought a little over a year ago. I bought it for the sake of sports interest to look at the Chinese technique, well, to use it a bit. Then the corporate tariff changed and I got as much as 10 GB of the Internet, and on my old samsung s3600 there is nothing to do on the Internet. And he began to use the Chinese. And I liked it. I didn’t reflash anything, I didn’t change anything. I put it in Russian, removed some of the icons with hieroglyphs and that's it. I treat telephones as a consumer - there is nothing to blow off dust particles from it. The phone is for me, not me for the phone ... I occasionally drop it, a couple of times I fell on the asphalt, a couple of times on the concrete floor. The panel flew off from the speaker, glued "a moment and use it further. I use Yandex plugs, I look at mail, I make pictures and send them by mail, I call, and very rarely write SMS. I practically stopped using the tablet, which I had previously used for the above purposes. Only I watch movies on the plane on my tablet. The rest is all on smart. Immediately I bought myself a charger and an extra battery. It's convenient. When I bought the phone it cost a little more than 5000 TR for that kind of money, there are no shortcomings. The quiet sound of the call was cured by installing an mp3 melody. on a call and some kind of program with an amplifier ... I did not stick the film, because it was like "Gorilla Glass", a normal rubber cover on the body. From the edges of the frame, paint slowly peels off from drops and indifferent attitude. If we are talking about JIAYU JY-G3 MTK6589T, then I can’t say anything bad, I had it for half a year until it was stolen, the photos are for 8 megapixels, they are not bad, but only in good weather, in bad weather the contrast increases and some shooting details are not at all read, go into darkness. (see examples of photos here: https://fotki.yandex.ru/users/alexander-lazorenko/album/222437/) I put the game with races, I drove until I got tired of it, I didn't see any lags, by the way, it's better to install another camera, for example: Camera FV-5, you get a lot of manual adjustments besides the aperture of course, i.e. the background sharpness adjustment is not real, the video is not there. It is better to shoot a video on a native encoder (for an example of a video, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H-BDdPe0vk by the way, after being driven to YouTube, he started to twitch for something, and so on a computer from the original it smoothly shows) , I had misunderstandings with calls, for some reason, the sound sometimes disappeared on calls, you increase it works and they call, you can not hear it at all, If you put the sound with vibro it worked fine. If you fly without vibro and do not indulge, then the charge was enough for 8.5 days, to be honest, to be honest, I was surprised myself. Wify plows perfectly, TV channels from neta naura, installed Skype, but for some reason it went into shutdown mode when the Internet was available, and constantly had to re-enter it with a password and login, Probably if NET is active all the time, it should work, as seen from Skype so-so, but if you switch the outdoor camera, it becomes cleaner. Headphones through bluetooth also work perfectly, really, the batteries quickly sit down in the headphones.

    On 4PDA they write that there is no such modification of 3T, this is how the versions of the latest releases, revisions are marked, so to speak - there are differences in hardware, in firmware and, apparently, in assembly ... In any case, the stickers under the battery look somewhat contradictory, well, yes and God bless him ...

    The device arrived in the following package: the declared value of 10 dollars, the note "Gift", "Electronics". This is a note to those who have "customs".

    The box of the little guy is wrinkled, although it itself is made of multi-layer pressed cardboard - almost like plywood. There was a lot of bumps inside, so the kit was not damaged

    And the kit is not rich: instructions (with a guarantee and an OTK stamp, which, as they say, "no") in Chinese, a clumsy charger and a cord for it with USB-microUSB ends half a meter long - how did they get to save on the length of the charging cords, they will have to be ordered separately one and a half meter high, I'm tired of all these pygmy tails - and the apparatus itself.

    The battery is sealed with tape so that nothing turns on by itself.

    We put a SIM card and a memory card

    We turn it on, it works

    Viewing angles, of course, are normal, it does not fade from direct sunlight. Well, here, for example, next to Lenovo A390, and the brightness of the Lenovo screen is set to maximum, and in the Jiyaki it is half. And then, this lenovo has very good angles too.

    The edges of the device are not overloaded: a volume swing, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an ON button “on top” and a micro-usb connector “on the bottom”. As you can see, the build quality is excellent, there are no "humps" anywhere.

    Let's look at the device specifications and anttu tests

    Unlike Lenovo A390, which could not catch the satellites in the apartment, the jiyaka confidently detected them and very accurately determined my location - great, the receiver, which means it is sensitive, so we will write it down.
    The device steadily "pulls" heavy applications - the game The Tribez works without brakes. Yahoo Messenger was installed on the phone and even a video plug-in for it (everything works fine) - this is the first android device I have with this feature.
    The device is too big and heavy in the hand - it looks like a monster from my thin-moto. I don't even know if I personally need such a harsh device ...

    Wi-Fi works stably, in general, the phone itself does not slow down and does not glitch, everything is very clear and fast, it is pleasant to manipulate.
    Okay, how's it going with the telephone part? Not a bad thing. Both the spoken and ringing speakers are loud and of high quality. I have no complaints about the quality of the connection (the operation of the transceiver, the voice codec): I can hear perfectly and legibly, and me the same way. The device does not lose its network even in an elevator (only Motorola could boast of this).
    With a load of "calls only" plus GPS orientation several times (wi-fi is on, bluetooth is on, one SIM card) 20 minutes a day - over two days. It could have been better ... But it will do - the battery is already 3Ah, much more ...
    The device photographs well, geometric distortion is quite moderate
