Good day, dear readers.

With the development of mobile technologies, the services provided are constantly improving. So, for a long time, portable modems have been very popular, which allow you to access the Internet almost anywhere. At the same time, they provide a good network speed. But sometimes there are situations when, after some changes in the operating system, problems appear with the operation of this equipment. And therefore, many are interested in how to update the modem driver? And this is no accident, because in this way you can return everything to its place. I will provide useful information regarding this area.

Most USB modems that allow you to access the Internet via 3G or GPRS have their own memory, albeit small. Usually, it should contain the drivers that are necessary for the device to work. To reinstall the corresponding software, you need to perform a number of steps:

    Plug in and reboot the component.

    Go to "".

    Then in "".

    Find and remove the related hardware.

    Reconnect the item and reboot.

    Wait while the component tries to install the software on its own. Then go to " A computer»And open the external drive. Find the installer and run it.

    If there are no required elements, go back to "". Find the appropriate component and call " Properties».

    If this does not help, try "" and press " Overview". A window will open where you need to specify the USB drive installed in the modem itself. Wait for the installation to complete.

In addition, often with such devices, small disks are also supplied free of charge, on which the necessary programs are provided. If it is not there, we go to the manufacturer's website and look for the necessary files.

MTS update( )

To update the software from the MTS company, we perform a chain of actions:

Sometimes after updating the drivers on the MTS modem, there may be connection problems. It is solved like this:

Yota( )

It must be said right away that the basic software for a mobile device from Yota is already provided in the latest versions of operating systems from Microsoft. Even in Windows xp, though only SP3. If suddenly the device does not work for some reason, you need to check how exactly the computer perceived it:

Everything should work fine.

Megaphone( )

In general, the procedure for reinstalling drivers here is exactly the same as in the case of MTS. So, it is easy to update the software on the megaphone modem - we remove the equipment and all related software from the computer through "". Reboot and reconnect. Everything should be installed automatically.

Beeline( )

Reinstalling the Beeline modem is generally similar to the others. Here, too, you need to delete everything, reconnect and reboot the system. The only difference is that after connecting, a sign appears on the monitor on which you need to press the " Download". The wizard itself will find the necessary drivers and install them. And it is suitable for use in both Windows 10 and XP.

Most peripheral devices require drivers or special software to work. To update modem drivers, you must try all available methods.

You will need

  • - installation disk;
  • - access to the Internet.

Instructions

  • The bulk of USB modems designed for Internet access via GPRS or 3G channels have a certain amount of internal memory. This is where the driver files can be stored. Turn on your computer and connect your USB modem to it.
  • Wait for a while while the operating system automatically searches for drivers. Open the My Computer menu and check for a new external storage device. Open its contents and run the installer.
  • If there is no such application, go to the properties of the "Computer" item available in the "Start" menu. Open the "Device Manager" link.
  • Find equipment marked with an exclamation mark. Open its properties by right-clicking on the name of the modem. Go to the "Driver" submenu and click the "Update" button. First, specify the automatic file search mode.

  • Try to find the software you need by visiting the 3G modem developers website. In addition, some drivers can be found on the website of the provider to which you connect via a modem.
  • Download and install the software from the indicated sites. Reconnect the modem and try to activate the device.
  • Portable DSL modems and routers usually come with special discs. Insert the specified drive into the drive. Wait for the disc to autorun.
  • Install the proposed programs using the step-by-step menu. Restart your computer and router after completing this procedure.
  • ADSL - modems, today are used by many citizens for the purpose of organizing access to the Internet. Thanks to the operation of ADSL - modems, potential Internet users are able to obtain high-speed access to the network. Of course, such a possibility determines all the convenience and comfort of working in the network. Meanwhile, manufacturers of modems of this type are constantly improving software control (program code) in order to achieve the highest possible performance of their equipment.

    In particular, you can take the DSL-2500U ADSL modem, which is included in the list of the most common network equipment among Internet users. Since the release of this model until the time of this writing, the instrument's control code has been updated eight times. In this regard, it should be noted that each such update carries a change in a number of parameters that affect, accordingly, the quality of the modem.

    So, if the user is interested in updating the so-called firmware of his modem, he can do it on his own and quite simply. In this case, the first thing to do is determine the current firmware version of the modem. This can be done by entering the Modem Settings Management Cabinet. The entrance to the control cabinet is carried out when the modem is turned on. To do this, you need to launch a browser on your computer and enter the network address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. A form for entering identification data will open. By default, the data corresponds to the following: username - admin, password - admin. After logging into the control system, a window with a table will open in front of the user, which contains information about the firmware version. Having decided on the firmware version, you need to visit the official technical resource D-Link / DSL-2500U_BRU_D / Firmware / and download the latest firmware version for the modem model used by the user. The downloaded archive contains in its body, in fact, the firmware file itself (for the DSL-2500U, this is DSL-2500U_BRU_D_RU_1.58_08262010) and the configuration file (default.cfg). Now you can proceed directly to the process of updating the program code (firmware).

    In order to update the firmware to the latest version, you will have to re-enter the modem control cabinet, how to do this is indicated above in the text. In the user's account, the Management - Update Software tabs are selected. A window for selecting a firmware file will open, where, using the "Browse" button, you must specify the path to the folder where the file of this firmware itself is located, in this case the DSL-2500U_BRU_D_RU_1.58_08262010 file. The next step is to activate the Update Software button, which is located just below. After that, you should wait until the process of updating the program code is completed and the modem is restarted. The entire operation takes approximately two to three minutes. Upon completion of the operation, you can proceed to the next step - updating the configuration. To do this, select in the menu tab Mamagment - Setting - Update. Again, using the browse, the path to the configuration file is indicated and activated by the Update Setting button. The update time for installations is also approximately two to three minutes. The final stage of the firmware update will be to reset the modem parameters to the default parameters. To do this, use the Management - Setting - Restore Default menu tabs. Everything. The update process can be considered complete. Now you should close the browser window, wait about two minutes and restart the browser. Re-enter the user's account and configure the modem in accordance with the instructions of the Internet provider.

    These recommendations for updating the firmware of ADSL modems are described in relation to a specific model of the modem, namely, DSL-2500U. However, the principle itself applies to other models from the ADSL series. In principle, it is not at all necessary to change the firmware of the modem, but it is desirable, since in this way it is possible not only to change the parameters of the modem for the better, but also to acquire additional service functions.

    MTS modems are ideal devices for accessing the Internet almost anywhere in Russia. We insert the modem into a computer or laptop, click on the connect button, and after a few seconds the device will connect to the network and let the subscriber into the Internet. If you cannot go through this procedure and use the MTS Internet via a modem, then read in detail about the settings of the MTS modem here.

    Almost all commercially available modems sold under the MTS brand are blocked. That is, you cannot insert a SIM card from another operator into them - he will not accept it. How to flash an MTS modem and make it work with SIM cards of any other telecom operators? And what else can a firmware update affect?

    Make the modem see any SIM cards

    In order to force the MTS-modem to see SIM-cards of other operators, it is enough to unlock it - the firmware is not needed here. This is done using special programs. Some programs unlock modems on their own, with little or no user intervention. Others simply generate an unlock code that needs to be inserted into a special field. But the control program remains the same - here is MTS Connect.

    And for some users, it is simply inconvenient. In this case, you need to get the original (universal) firmware and flash your MTS modem with it. As a result, we get an unlocked modem that is ready to work with any SIM-cards and has a convenient control program. Next, we create profiles here with the necessary data and start using the modem.

    Firmware for an MTS modem is always a risk. In this regard, you need to carefully read all the instructions for flashing and do not take liberties. Otherwise, after replacing the firmware, the modem will end up with a useless chipset. Doubt about your capabilities? Then entrust the replacement of the firmware on the MTS-modem to someone else. It is best if it is a specialized repairman.

    Updating the firmware of modems

    How to flash an MTS modem and get a device with an updated firmware? In principle, modem manufacturers (not operators!) Have already provided for the possibility of flashing their devices. For this, special utilities are used that allow you to replace the firmware in just a few clicks. That is, even an unprepared user can reflash his MTS modem.

    In order to download the updated firmware for your modem, you do not need to visit little-known resources - just go to the MTS website, where there is a section with firmware updates for almost all devices manufactured under the MTS brand. To update the software, you need to select the model of your modem and download the archive with the firmware(the model of the modem can be read on the sticker on its back cover). The archive will contain both the firmware itself and the instruction.

    Following these instructions, users will be able to update the software on their modems in a matter of minutes. Why do I need to update the firmware on MTS modems? This is done in order to get rid of errors made in previous versions of the software. In addition, technologies change, access speeds are growing, and all this requires regular firmware updates.

    As user reviews show, in some cases, the firmware of MTS modems makes devices more stable and stable - the quality of communication improves, the speed of access to Internet resources increases. That is, if an unstable connection is observed on your modem, then you can always replace its firmware and evaluate the changes it has made.

    Do not turn off computers and laptops during software updates - charge batteries, use UPS. Also, make sure that the modem is connected securely - do not use half-broken USB ports and old connecting cables. Strictly follow the instructions for flashing. Otherwise, you risk getting an inoperative device.

    How often have you thought about updating the firmware on your USB modem? I think that many owners of USB modems sooner or later have a desire to change the firmware of the device to another, newer one.

    And there are situations when old USB modems purchased in the 2008s are no longer detected in new Windows operating systems. So, for example, my Beeline USB modem, which I bought in 2008, did not want to be installed on Windows 7. And therefore, I had to additionally look for drivers for my old USB modem. Later, I updated the firmware for him, and the need to install additional drivers disappeared as unnecessary.

    Today we are going to update the firmware on the ZTE MF626 USB modem. The process of updating other models of USB-modem from Beeline itself is no different from ZTE MF626. Therefore, all the steps described in this article will apply to other models as well.

    What you need to update the firmware

    First of all, we need to find out the manufacturer of the USB modem and the model. Read about how to do this in the corresponding article.

    After you find out your USB modem model, we go to the Beeline website and find the page “USB modems and 3G / 4G Wi-Fi routers”, the link of which at the time of this writing looked like this: software download link.

    1. User manual;

    2. Instructions for the flashing program;

    3. Software update file.

    We are interested in the third file "Firmware update file". Download it to your computer and unzip it to any folder. After that, we can proceed with the firmware update process.

    Firmware upgrade

    Connect your USB modem to your computer and wait for the device to install if connecting for the first time. If the installation has already been done, then all the necessary drivers have already been installed.

    Close the USB modem program window, if you have it open, and go to the folder with the unpacked archive that we previously downloaded.

    1. Run the unzipped file “ PSTW_DL_HOMEMF626V1.0.0B02.exe". After that, the firmware update program will ask for administrator rights. Allow to run as administrator;

    2. After the program informs about readiness for installation, press the button "" (Fig. 1):

    The firmware update process will begin, during which the previous device drivers will be removed and the program window will automatically open " USB-modem Beeline».

    Upon completion of the installation, a corresponding window will appear (Fig. 2):

    After that, uninstall the previous version of the installed program " USB-modem Beeline"After disconnecting the USB modem from the computer, then restart the computer. After rebooting, you can start using your USB tethering.

    This concludes the process of updating the firmware from Beeline USB modem.

    conclusions

    Thus, we have learned how to update the firmware on Beeline USB modems. By doing this, we have made the old USB modem work on newer versions of Windows without installing additional drivers.
