Prologue

This time I will touch on the topic, relevant, so to speak, for the enthusiasts of beginners - that is, for those who have not yet been squeezed on the discrete sound card and want to squeeze the maximum of integrated.

1. Likbez

For starters - brief libez. Who does not know, or does not fully understand what is hardware audio codecCarefully read the appropriate Wikipedia pages:

Read? Excellent! And now it would be very good if you got acquainted with my two articles:

Well, now we can start.

2. What we have

So, at my disposal of Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate X64 (the setting described in the article is suitable for all OS, starting with Vista), built into the motherboard (ASUS P7H55-V) of the ALC887 codec (there is a datasheet) connected to the rear connectors an external amplifier and Microphone (green and pink nests, respectively). Please note that we will configure the card for output. stereo Sound by analog interface.

3. Installing by

First you need to install the drivers. Of course, most likely the Windows OS has already found and installed the driver for the audio device, however, to gain access to the entire functionality, as well as for peace of mind, install the driver package directly from Realtek, the latest version of which you can download on the corresponding page of my site. By the way, the settings specified here were checked on the R2.67 drivers.

Download drivers, make a simple installation procedure (running HD_AUDIO / setup.exe), Reboot your computer.

After loading the OS in the system tray, a brown speaker icon should appear:

4. Setting up drivers

First of all go to Windows Control Panel-\u003e Equipment and Sound-\u003e Sound And, making sure that our headphones or speakers are connected to a green sound card socket, turn off all unnecessary devices, and our connected device is made by default device:

At the same time we do the same with the recording devices:

Now double click on the tray icon. If there is no badge, we are looking for it in hidden icons, if there is no - we go into Control Panel-\u003e Equipment and Sound-\u003e. One way or another, the dispatcher window should open:

Here we immediately set the speaker configuration (stereo), set our analog device by default device (after which the corresponding button will get out), turn off if, God forbid, is included, the volume sound.

By the button in the form of a yellow folder, you can configure disabling the definition of the front panel connectors:

Also note that the connected connectors are displayed in bright color - in our case the speakers are connected to the green output, the microphone is connected to the pink input. Here is one very important detail: double-clicking on the connector icon, you will see a window with a selection of a connected device type. It is because if you choose "headphones"The codec will use a special additional amplifier (otherwise the sound in the headphones will be too quiet), for the connected active speakers or external amplifiers, you should choose "Exit to the front speakers". Here the automatic popup of this window is turned on when the device is connected to any of the map connections:

Using the "I" button, you can open a window with information about the driver version, DirectX, audio controller and codec version, it turns on / off the icon display in the system tray:

Now it turns the effects:

Configuration corrections settings for stereo configuration are not available, which is in generally strange - in the same Console from THX (which is enabled, for example, in the Creative X-FI driver package) you can adjust the distance and angle of the direction on the speakers relative to your location, which It is very useful when you do not sit immediately in front of the speakers, or they are located relative to you asymmetrically. Well, okay, let it be on the conscience of the developers.

The last tab duplicates the control panel settings (however, most of the settings from the dispatcher are in the control panel):

Here you can set the parameters of the system mixer - which frequency of sampling and the depth of the Windows bit will mix all reproducible sounds. Set 24 bits, 96 kHz. Why - I'll tell you further.

Since I constantly storm with questions, how to set up a microphone (which, in my opinion, should be at least incomprehensible), I will still focus on setting up recording devices. Their settings, by the way, as well as playback devices, are on separate tabs at the top of the window. Let's start with a stereo mixer:

Everything is elementary here. This device records everything you hear through the speakers, i.e., that ready-made sound stream that Windows transmits to a sound card. It is given to the specified form (once the mixer works with a 96 kHz sampling frequency, then we will put the same as).

But our main device record is, of course, the microphone:

So, we put the volume of the recording to the maximum, and the microphone gain turn off (then, if necessary, can be turned on). Also, very often, people complain that they play the sound perceived by the microphone so that this is not there - turn off the playback. To your taste - noise filtering, echo suppression. On the tab , Again, the recording format is set:

Considering the characteristics of the recording path, there is enough and standard 16 bits / 44.1 kHz.

5. Setting up FOOBAR2000.

In principle, the work done is enough to ensure the highest (for this card) sound quality in any player. But for real paranoids, I will give the FOOBAR2000 settings. We need, in fact, the player itself and several plugins to it - Wasapi Output Support and Sox Resampler.. Well, or you can download my assembly in which everything is already available.

So, in the output settings of the player (File-\u003e Preferences-\u003e Playback-\u003e OUTPUT) choose Wasapi:<наше устройство> , Bonquality is set 24 bits:

When displaying via Wasapi Exclusive, all the effects of the sound card (if included), as well as the Windows mixer (for which we indicated the sampling rate).

Now let's get to the DSP settings:

Here we add the Sound Exchange and Advanced Limiter to the chain. In the settings of the resampler, we set the frequency of 96 kHz.

But now - why is 96 kHz. I spent a series of experiments, and that's what I managed to figure out. In the "Exit to the front speakers", if the volume control is set by more than 90%, when playing a test signal udial (Discretization frequency - 44.1 kHz) severe distortions are heard. Distortions disappear, if you or lower the volume, or switch to headphones mode, or perform a surgery of audio to 96 kHz.

On the causes of this phenomenon according to the available data, it is difficult to judge, but you can draw conclusions and twice: all audio output with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz, and the volume does not increase more than 90%.

And a couple of words about the need to configure FOOBAR2000. In principle, you can withdraw the sound to the "DS: Primary Sound Driver" device. In this case, oversampling will be performed by the Windows tools (the resampler is not the worst) there, moreover, all other sounds will not be disconnected (as when playing through Wasapi Exclusive). In addition, selecting this device, Windows will display the sound to the device that is installed by default in the control panel, which is convenient (for example, when one of the devices are turned off, the sound automatically switches to another). So the choice is for you convenience, or confidence in quality.

6. Resurrection of three-dimensional sound and hardware mixing

And of course I did not forget about gamers. Since Windows, starting with Vista, there is no access to hardware streams (all operations performs Windows, and then one single thread is displayed on a sound card), the developers have come up with a special program, analog Creative Alchemy, but for Realtek - 3D Soundback. It connects to hardware resources via the OpenAL interface, emulates for the specified Windows programs emulates the DirectSound device (as in Windows XP), and then simply performs the conversion of the DirectSound commands (or DirectSound 3D) to the OpenAL command, as a result - we get a real EAX 2.0 in games, And also the ability to convert multichannel audio into stereo with environment effects.

To start the program, open the folder ... / Program Files / Realtek / 3D Sound Back Beta0.1, in the file properties 3dsoundback.exe. On the tab "Compatibility" Install windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode:

Now run this file. To add an application - click Add Game., Enter the name and address of the folder containing the executable program file. For example:

After adding, do not forget to highlight the added application and click the button. Enable.

Now the specified application will default use an emulated DirectSound device and access the sound card hardware resources:

Epilogue

Well, the next grand article is completed. By the way, I thought here: but in a good way, this article was necessary to write one of the first ... However, at that time I would not have enough knowledge so that everything is so described in detail, so it can be better.

If something is incomprehensible, some questions remained - ask, comment. Good luck!

Sound card is a device in assembling a personal computer that is responsible for playing sound. Without it, any computer, stationary or portable, will remain silent. But not always the silence of the device indicates the absence of a sound card in it. Sometimes the reason is that the card has a setup, and you need to fix them. It is desirable to resort to the settings of the sound card and then when there is a sound, but it is incorrect and do not like your hearing.

You can configure the audio card in the first place through the sound controller, built into the system when installing drivers on this card. To open the dispatcher window, look in the toolbar area, next to the clock, the icon in the form of a color speaker and click on it. Someone has a start-up strip in the upper part of the monitor, at someone in the bottom, and someone and on the side, but the sound manager icon will always be in the area of \u200b\u200bthe clock. At the same time, do not confuse it with a white speaker icon, which leads to the volume control menu from the Windows itself. In the window that opens, you can change any settings for your requirements and taste. For example, to establish a sound effect on your choice, simulating acoustics of different types of music, from Pop to jazz. Or give the sounds of color characteristic of different sound conditions - an empty room, a stone cave, a concert hall. You can experiment with the karaoke effect and configure audio through the equalizer at your discretion. In the Mixer tab, runners are located to install the desired volume level on the speakers and recording elements. You can completely disable sounds or enhance the microphone.

Section "Sound Inputs and Outputs" and "Microphone" will allow you to make the setting in more detail. And at the same time, you will show you the necessary information on the involvement of one or another sound equipment on your computer.

Sound dispatchers from different companies may differ slightly over the interface, but on the example of one can easily understand the rest. However, it may happen that you will not find such a dispatcher, and you need to make the setting. In this case, the audio card settings menu can be called via the control panel. If you have Windows XP, then activate the Start button, go to the control panel, and then go to the "Sounds and Audio Device" section. In Windows 7 and 8, this section is called simply "sound". We are opening up the computer sound control menu. Here the options are slightly more than in the sound manager, but in general the functionality is the same. In the "Volume" and "Audio" tabs, you can adjust the type of your speakers and set the desired level of sound. In the "Sound" menu, configure the sound operation performed by the Windows system. Separately it is worth linger in the section "Speech". It is here that all sorts of failures in the settings when writing sound or talking on Skype and such communication programs like it. By clicking the "Check" button below the "Speech Record" area, you will call for help to help the audio checks wizard. He will monitor your microphone and helps improve his work or find a problem. You only need to follow all the actions that he will tell you himself.

In this manual, the sound card setup system on the Windows XP operating system was fluked. In modern later builds of the system, Windows 7 and Windows 8, access to the sound dispatcher panel can differ slightly. But following the logic and knowledge gained here, you can easily configure the audio card on any operating system.

If your computer works on OC Windows XP, Vista or 7, and is also equipped with a REALTEK audio account, then you need a special driver for sound operation. To activate it, type "Realtek" in searching for starting. When you find the Realtek HD Manager Results - run it. If this program is not in the search, then the computer does not have this driver or is installed too old version. This article will be written how to install and configure the RealTek driver.

Installing the Realtek driver

Follow this step-by-step instruction if the driver is missing or it is outdated.

  1. Load the current version of the required driver from the RealTek site either from our site on the following link :.
  2. Stop the installation by running the download file in the ".exe" format.
  3. To continue the installation, press "Next".

ATTENTION: If the installation is a warning that Windows does not know about the driver publisher, then simply click on "Set" to continue the installation of the installer.

  4. After installing the driver, restart the computer so that all changes start your work.
The correct software installation signal will be the Realtek HD Audio Manager sign on the taskbar. To go to the Realtek Manager, just click on the sign twice.

Realtek High Definition Audio Functions and Settings

Realtek audiopod supports 8-channel audio, Jack-Sensing, and also has many other functions. In addition, it successfully works with Universal Audio Jack, so that you can easily eliminate the errors associated with the cable connection.

Audio Realtek Manager supports motherboards that work with an audio processing from Realtek.

Note: all menus are listed below for reference and their names can be very different from what will be on your computer. In the environment of the above-mentioned versions of Windows, the Realtek HD manager will be the devices connected to the ports. And depending on them will already show tabs with settings. Also, the program interface may differ due to the driver version or the model installed on your sound card computer.

For example:

Menu "Speakers"

First, the slider will open to adjust the volume of all devices. The panel located on the right will be located the parameters associated with the operation of the output audio devices.

Digital output

To configure digital audio input, do the following:

  1. In the "Advanced Device Settings" tab, you can configure the parameters of the separation of input sockets.
  2. After you will be available four more nested menus.

To configure acoustic systems:

1. Select the "Speakers" menu.
2. To install analog output port as Devices by default, click on "Set Standard Device".
3. Select the "Speaker Configuration" menu, located in "Speakers". There will be configuration parameters. You can also configure the surround sound and specify the speaker configuration.

4. In the "Sound Effect" menu, you can configure karaoke, choose the environment around you, and also select one of several modes for the equalizer.

5. To regulate loudspeakers, you need to go to the "Amendment to the room" menu. There you can adjust the distance and angles, based on your location. This very useful feature is useful when you are not right in front of the columns, but stand in the asymmetric position from them. But its work is possible only in modes 5.1 and 7.1.
6. The "Standard Format" menu is responsible for the parameters of the mixer. And if specifically, the frequency of sampling and the discharge, with which the OS will process outgoing sounds.

Microphone setup

You can configure your microphone in the last menu, which is called "microphone". At the top there will be a slider to adjust the volume and balance of the microphone. Adjust them until you achieve the desired volume.

This section is divided into two tabs: "Microphone Effect" and "Standard Format".

In the "Microphone Effect" tab, you can change the conference mode parameters, as well as enable the echo and noise suppression mode.

Menu "Information"

By clicking on the information icon, which looks like the letter "I", you can find out the version of the program, audio controller, DirectX, codec and select the program language.

Thanks for attention! Write your refinements to configure Realtek High Definition Audio. 🙂

Sound card (also known as the "mixing console", "mixer console" or "sound remote") is a complex and sometimes "frightening" part of the equipment. To your attention a very basic guide to setting up a mixing console for a small online show using the installation BARE BONES PA systems.

Before we proceed to the step-by-step part of the instruction, it is necessary to understand the basic sound card scheme. The mixing console has two main sections: the input section and output or master section.

  • The input section consists of several separate channels, which can be from the 4 on the mixture remote control to more than 32. Each channel consists of a set of inputs on the back of the board and the corresponding set of controls, which together are called the channel strip. The channel band usually consists of an amplification controller that controls the volume at the first stage when the signal goes to the console before any processing or routing can be performed; Fader channel that controls the volume after processing; one or more auxiliary senders (outputs) that function as faders, except that they are sent to alternative outputs on the sound card, which are used for effects, such as reverb or echo, and monitor dynamics; set of equalizer or EQ controls that control sound quality at low and high frequencies, and often sch also; Distribution buttons for tires or groups that send a signal to alternative tire faders and exit in the workshop of the board.
  • The master section regulators control the output of a mixer console to different outputs on the back of the board. The audio output section usually consists of a master fader that controls the volume of the main outputs on the board (in other words, this is the volume for the entire system); auxiliary craftsmen that control the volume of additional outputs; Auxiliary returns that are used to bring a signal from the reverb unit or other outside the paid effect into a mixer without using the channel band; Tire Faders, which alternate with master faders for bus outputs, which are used for their alternative speakers, recording devices and grouping channels together.
