It is necessary to open hidden files and operating system folders, mainly-in edit some important system documents.

To do this, you need to know how to make hidden folders visible.

The fact is that in all modern versions of Windows, the default setting is assumed by the so-called "fool protection".

This means that an inexperienced user simply sees the majority of important system partitions and cannot make potentially dangerous changes.

But on the other hand, some subtle settings of the operating system may require editing these hidden files.

This article will provide a detailed manual that allows you to implement this procedure in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, which at the moment occupy the lion's share of operating systems used in the commercial and private sector.

Secrets of the Windows 7 system partition

This version of the Microsoft operating system accepted the palm of the championship in popularity from the legendary XP, the support of which stopped several years ago.

Such success is primarily dictated by a user-friendly interface, which is easy to find the necessary settings.

It also concerns the display option of the display of hidden folders and files, activate which is the easiest way through the taskbar.

  • To begin with, it is necessary to get into the taskbar in a standard way: open the start and select the "Control Panel".
  • After the reference "Design and Personalization".

Tip! For convenience, select the display method by category.

  • In the diversity discovered, we need a category "folder parameters", and, more precisely, its option "Show hidden files and folders", which speaks for itself.

  • In the window that opens, called "Folder Parameters", deploy the "View" tab and at the bottom of the list of additional parameters we see the function of display / hiding special files. It remains only to install Chekbox to the desired position.

You can get to the "folder parameters" window in Windows 7, it is possible to open any directory and in the "Sort" option in the drop-down menu of the Options and Search options.

Tip! If you decide to use this method, the default will display hidden files only in the current directory. To distribute it to the rule on all discs, you need to activate the "Apply to Folder" item.

Having understood with the classics, you can go to more modern systems.

Invibly in the subtleties of Windows 8

This version of the operating system is significantly different from Windows 7, which at one time caused many complaints from users.

Changes touched, including hidden directories: in Windows 8 there are two types of files and folders not visible to the user.

The first, this is the actual hidden (hidden) sections. Not only system files and folders, but also components of various third-party applications possess this status.

Moreover, the user itself can assign such a type to any object on the disk.

However, this possibility often uses malicious programs, as a result of which, for example, problems with files on a flash drive arise.

For these two types, the actions algorithm will be different.

To open ordinary hidden files and folders, you must perform the following steps:

  • To begin, open the "Explorer", for which you can use the standard label in the "Taskbar".

  • In the folder opened in the upper settings panel, click on the "View" menu and select the "Show and Hide" function. In the list that opens, it is necessary to activate the Checkbox "Hidden Elements".
In the same way, you can assign a hidden (hidden) status to any selected file or folder.

In order to see the Official System Files, it is necessary to make such settings:

  • In the same menu "View" go to "Parameters" - "Change the folder and search parameters".

  • As a result, the "folder parameters" settings window appears, similar to that in Windows 7. Here it is necessary to go to the "View" tab and remove the checkbox from the "Hide" function protected system files (recommended).

You can get to this window differently:

  • In the start, which in the eight has an unusual Metro interface, click on the gear icon (computer parameters).

  • In the menu that opens, go to the lower link to open a familiar to most users control panel.

  • In the "Taskbar" for the beginning, select the method of displaying the functions of large (or small) icons, and then go to the "folder parameters" link, which in the end and will access the settings window of the same name.

Also, it is worth considering the display algorithm for the display of hidden and system elements for Windows 10, since, despite its similarity with the eight, the settings of this OS have their own nuances.

Hidden files and folders in Windows 10

In the top ten there is the same division of hidden files to ordinary system, therefore, and the ways to enable their display are similar to those considered in the previous section.

To see the top ten files and folders with the Hidden attribute, including on a flash drive or any other outer carrier, do the following:

  • Open "Start" and launch the "Explorer".

  • The appearance of the "conductor" in the top ten is practically no different from Windows 8. Therefore, it acts on the already known algorithm: View - show and hide - put into the active position of the checkbox "Hidden elements".

In order to see system files and folders, we need to get to the "Explorer Parameters" function (analogue options options options).

  • Faster it will be done through the search, the icon of which can be found on the "taskbar".

Tip! You can also use a hot combination of keys to access the search. Win + Q.

  • By clicking on the search results result, we get into the functions window with which they have repeatedly encountered this article. Here we are interested in the "Hide Protected System Files (recommended), which is located on the View tab.

Finally should once again say that editing hidden files, especially systemic, can cause serious damage to the computer's software membrane.

Therefore, such changes should be treated as responsibly.

How to open hidden files and folders in Windows 7/8/10 Free Lesson

In this video, I show how you can easily open hidden files and folders on Windows 7/8/10 operating systems.

By default, Windows hides some system folders and files in order to avoid accidental user intervention. But these folders and files may need to edit at certain purposes, for example, to optimize the operation of the system, cleaning from viral activity, etc.

About displaying hidden Windows elements

To display hidden items in Windows, you do not need to download and install any additional software, as sufficient system functions. In addition, using applications that allegedly allow to see the hidden elements of the system, you expose your computer at risk to become infected with any virus. In modern versions of Windows, you can quickly view all hidden files and folders.

Method 1: Control Panel

The control panel is in almost all versions of Windows (exceptions are only the oldest). With it, you can quickly set up the system, including the elements hidden from the user.

Use this instruction:

Method 2: Explorer

You can also make certain settings in the folders themselves, but at the same time some important system elements will still be hidden. However, this method is the most convenient and requires a couple of clicks for execution.

Instruction:

As you can see, there is nothing complicated to enable the display of hidden system files and folders in the Windows operating system. However, intervening in the work of system components, do not forget to create a recovery point, in order to roll back all changes back.

Private life is subjected to threats completely and nearby, especially if it concerns the computer and is particularly strong danger when you have to share a PC with other family members or comrades. You may have files that you would not want to show others and prefer to keep them in a hidden place. In this manual, three ways will be considered quickly and just hide folders in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

It is worth noting that none of these solutions will allow you to hide your folders from an experienced user. For truly important and secret information, I would recommend more advanced solutions that do not just hide the data, but also encrypt them - even the archive with a password for opening can be more serious protection than hidden Windows folders.

A much more convenient way to hide folders in Windows is to use for this special program Free Hide Folder, you can download for free here: http://www.cleanerersoft.com/hidefolder/free_hide_folder.htm. Do not confuse this program with another product - Hide Folders, which also allows you to hide folders, but is not free.

After downloading, easy installation and program startup, you will be prompted to enter the password and confirm it. The next window will ask you to enter an optional registration code (the program is free and get the key is also possible for free), this step can be skipped by pressing "SKIP".

Now, to hide the folder, click the Add button in the main program window and specify the path to your secret folder. A warning appears that just in case, click the Backup button, which will save the program backup information, in case it is randomly deleted, so that after re-installation, you can access the hidden folder. Click OK. The folder will disappear.

Now, hidden using the Free Hide Folder, the folder is not visible anywhere in Windows - it cannot be found through the search and the only way to access it is to start the FREE Hide Folder program again, enter the password, select the folder you want to show and click "Unhide", As a result, the hidden folder will appear in its former place. The method is much more effective, the only thing is to save the backup data about which the program asks for the program so that in case of random deletion, you can access hidden files again.

Cool way to hide folder in windows

Now I will tell you another one, quite an interesting way to hide the Windows folder in any picture. Suppose you have a folder with important files for you and a photo of a cat.

Do the following operations:

  • Crouch the entire folder with your files to the Zip or Rar archive.
  • Place a picture with a cat and the created archive in one folder, better closer to the root of the disk. In my case - C: \\ Remontka \\
  • Press Win + R, enter cmd. And press ENTER.
  • On the command prompt, go to the folder in which the archive and photo are stored using the CD command, for example: cD C: \\remontka \\
  • Enter the following command (file names are taken from my example, the first file - the image of the cat, the second is the archive in which the folder is located, the third is a new image file) Copy /B.kotik.jpg +.secret-files.rARsecret-image.jpg.
  • After the command is executed, try to open the created SECRET-image.jpg file - the same cat will open, which was in the first image. However, if you open the same file through the archiver, or rename it to RAR or Zip, then when you open it, we will see our secret files.

Hidden folder in the picture

This is an interesting way that allows you to hide the folder in the image, while the photo for not knowledgeable people will be a regular photo, and you can remove the necessary files from it.
