Solving the most common problems. Dead by Daylight not starting? Game slows down? Flies out? Glitchy? Solving the most common problems Brief description of the game

For a lover of a comfortable game, the FPS value is a priority. This is especially true for games with less correct optimization. Dead by Daylight belongs to them, so any way to increase the signal in it is acceptable.

What is FPS signal

To understand how to increase FPS in Dead by Daylight, you must first understand the very essence of this term. Simply put, it refers to the frame rate on the screen. Accordingly, the more of them, the better the data processing goes and there is no braking in the gameplay. The power of the GPU is mainly responsible for this parameter, although, in general, the system can compensate for the lack of a video card.

That is why system hardware developers focus on the graphics processor, steadily releasing new models. In addition to the parameters of the PC, the optimization of the project itself plays an important role. If it's done poorly, you'll have to find a way, in Dead by Daylight and other games.

Brief description of the game

This project is positioned as an online horror in the style of survival. Five people appear on the map at the same time. One plays the role of the killer, the rest - the victims. Accordingly, there are several classes of villains, and all of them are armed to the teeth and can easily tear a person apart. Four other players must seek salvation in all sorts of ways, run away, hide and try to escape from the clutches of an evil hunter.

With such a tense plot, the question of how to increase the FPS in Dead by Daylight becomes especially relevant. Braking and freezing will quickly lead to defeat in a fight. Reaction plays a big role in winning, and low frame rates simply do not allow it to manifest itself.

Why increase FPS in Dead by Daylight

Given that this game is online, then the FPS signal is a key aspect here. No matter how well the user controls his character, he will never win at a low frame rate per second. To all this, it is worth adding that the developers missed a lot with optimization, and even on the most powerful computers there is braking. Even a lot of patches could not fix the situation. Owners of weak PCs need to continue looking for a way to increase FPS in Dead by Daylight.

Ways to increase FPS

The first way to raise the small FPS of Dead by Daylight is to write a special script. To begin with, in the system parameters, you should find out the number of gigahertz of the screen and set this value in a special file called "configuration". It is located at appdata - local - folder with the name of the game. In this file, the number changes in the penultimate line. In the busevsynx characteristic, after the dash, you need to change the parameter true (enabled) to false (disabled).

The second way to increase FPS in Dead by Daylight is to install additional software. A prime example would be MSI Afterburner. In it, you can increase the performance of the video card on the computer as a percentage. It is better to keep this parameter at a value of 30% and do not try higher. At the same time, the cooling capacity of coolers should definitely be set to 60% or more. With such functional settings, the FPS signal will increase and become about ten points higher. There are other programs out there that serve this purpose, but for Dead by Daylight, this one is the best. The test took place on systems of different capacities, and the results were always positive.

If Dead by Daylight crashes, Dead by Daylight will not start, Dead by Daylight not installing, there are no controls in Dead by Daylight, no sound in game, errors happen in Dead by Daylight – we suggest you the most common ways to solve these problems.

First, check if your PC meets the minimum system requirements:

  • OS: 64-bit (Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1)
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD FX-8120
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Video: GeForce GTX 460 1 GB or AMD HD 6850 1 GB
  • DirectX 11
  • HDD: 15 GB free space

Be sure to update your video card drivers and other software

Before you remember the worst words and express them towards the developers, do not forget to go to the official website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers. Often, specially optimized drivers are prepared for the release of games. You can also try installing a later version of the drivers if the problem is not solved by installing the current version.

It is important to remember that you should only download the final versions of video cards - try not to use beta versions, as they may have a large number of bugs not found and not fixed.

Do not forget that games often require the latest version of DirectX to be installed, which can always be downloaded from the official Microsoft website.

Dead by Daylight won't launch

Many problems with launching games happen due to incorrect installation. Check if there were any errors during the installation, try to uninstall the game and run the installer again, after disabling the antivirus - often the files necessary for the game to work are deleted by mistake. It is also important to remember that the path to the folder with the installed game should not contain Cyrillic characters - use only Latin letters and numbers for directory names.

It still does not hurt to check if there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can try to run the game as Administrator in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.

Dead by Daylight slows down. Low FPS. Logs. Friezes. hangs up

First - install the latest drivers for the video card, this FPS in the game can rise significantly. Also check the computer's load in the task manager (opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE). If, before starting the game, you see that some process is consuming too many resources, turn off its program or simply end this process from the task manager.

Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First of all, turn off anti-aliasing and try lowering the settings responsible for post-processing. Many of them consume a lot of resources and disabling them will significantly increase performance without greatly affecting the quality of the picture.

Dead by Daylight crashes to desktop

If Dead by Daylight often crashes to your desktop, try lowering the graphics quality to start solving the problem. It is possible that your computer simply does not have enough performance and the game cannot work correctly. It is also worth checking for updates - most modern games have a system for automatically installing new patches. Check if this option is disabled in the settings.

Black screen in Dead by Daylight

More often than not, the problem with the black screen is an issue with the GPU. Check if your graphics card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is the result of insufficient CPU performance.

If everything is fine with the hardware, and it meets the minimum requirements, try switching to another window (ALT + TAB), and then return to the game window.

Dead by Daylight is not installed. Installation stuck

First of all, check if you have enough HDD space for installation. Remember that the setup program requires the advertised amount of space plus 1-2 gigabytes of free space on the system drive to run properly. In general, remember the rule - the system drive should always have at least 2 gigabytes of free space for temporary files. Otherwise, both games and programs may not work correctly or refuse to start at all.

Installation problems can also occur due to lack of Internet connection or its unstable operation. Also, do not forget to suspend the antivirus while installing the game - sometimes it interferes with the correct copying of files or deletes them by mistake, considering them viruses.

Saves not working in Dead by Daylight

By analogy with the previous solution, check the availability of free space on the HDD - both on the one where the game is installed and on the system drive. Often save files are stored in a folder of documents, which is located separately from the game itself.

Controls not working in Dead by Daylight

Sometimes the controls in the game do not work due to the simultaneous connection of several input devices. Try disabling the gamepad, or if for some reason you have two keyboards or mice connected, leave only one pair of devices. If the gamepad does not work for you, then remember that only controllers that are defined as Xbox joysticks officially support games. If your controller is defined differently, try using programs that emulate Xbox joysticks (for example, x360ce).

Sound not working in Dead by Daylight

Check if the sound works in other programs. After that, check if the sound is turned off in the settings of the game itself and if the sound playback device is selected there, to which your speakers or headset are connected. Next, while the game is running, open the mixer and check if the sound is muted there.

If you are using an external sound card, check for new drivers on the manufacturer's website.

10/09/2018 Updated!
New Config! Adds about 10-15 FPS!
Before performing all the actions, I recommend deleting the game and all folders and files associated with it, and then reinstall everything again!

2. The downloaded archive will contain two files: the "Config" folder and the text document "DBD Startup Options"

3. Use the key combination "Win + R" to open the search and write "AppData", click "OK"

4. In the folder that opens, go along the path "C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local" and delete the "Dead by Daylight" folder, close everything.

5. We go into the game and set the graphics settings to "LOW (Low)" and change the "RESOLUTION (Resolution)" to 0%, save and exit the game.

6. Using the search (Win + R) go to "AppData" and go along the path "C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved" and replace, confirming the replacement of all files in the folder, the folder " Config" to the folder from the downloaded archive, close everything.

7. We go to Steam and right-click on the DBD icon, select "Properties", in the window that opens, select "Set Launch Options" and copy all the values from the text document (DBD Launch Options) that is in the downloaded archive, click "OK" and we close everything.

8. Also, before starting the game, change the desktop screen resolution to 1280 x 720 and below, up to 800 x 600.

9. Run the game. Confirmation that you did everything right will be the absence of the initial splash screen of the game!

Have a good game!

P.S.

Thanks to all!

Method number 2 (Not relevant)

Attention! 06/26/2017 Updated!
Patch to optimize the game. I personally tested it for functionality. Adds about 10-15 FPS!
List of changes:

Disabled vertical sync.

Reduced texture quality.

Changed the resolution in the game. (800 to 600) P.S. You don't need to change the desktop resolution!

Installation instructions:

1) Download the patch for the game!

2) Run the deadbydaylight.exe file as administrator!

3) Follow the installation instructions! (In the installation, you need to specify the path of your user. For example: "C:\Users\User")

4) Run the game from the shortcut on the desktop! (This is a must! If someone doesn’t have it, go to Steam and right-click on the DBD icon and create a shortcut.)

Method number 1 (Not relevant)

So, let's begin!

On the path "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor" find the file "GameUserSettings" and open it with notepad and scroll down, there you will find two items related to the screen resolution. (according to the standard, they are at the maximum and this is what absorbs the FPS) Item names:
ResolutionSizeX=640
ResolutionSizeY=360
Set the resolution you need, for example 1024 by 768 (I set it to 640 by 360) and save the file, then go into the game and set the graphics settings to LOW (with settings higher than LOW, wild soap appears and it's impossible to play) and then adjust RESOLUTION (I recommend setting it to 100%), I set RESOLUTION to 100% at a resolution of 640 by 360 (in the Russian translation of the game, RESOLUTION is translated as RESOLUTION, but in reality it just adjusts the distance of drawing objects) and at the same time I got a distant and slightly pixelated rendering with playable graphics and stable 70-80 fps

Here is an example of the full content of my "GameUserSettings" file:

sg.ResolutionQuality=100
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=0
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
sg.ShadowQuality=0
sg.PostProcessQuality=0
sg.TextureQuality=0
sg.EffectsQuality=0

ScreenScaleForWindowedMode=100
ScalabilityLevel=0
AutoAdjust=False
ScreenResolution=100
FullScreen=True
MainVolume=100
UseHeadphones=True
MuteMusic=False
MuteOnFocusLost=True
InvertY=False
Language=ru
PreviousAppBuildId=1290671
bUseVSync=False
ResolutionSizeX=640
ResolutionSizeY=360
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=0
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=0
WindowPosX=1
WindowPosY=1
bUseDesktopResolutionForFullscreen=False
FullscreenMode=1
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=0
Version=5

If you can't find the file "GameUserSettings" then go to start and in the line "Find programs and files" write "Show hidden files and folders" run and scroll down, look for the item "Hidden files and folders" and check the box "Show hidden files , folders and drives" and click apply.

Note:

I also recommend removing the FPS limit, as described in previous guides by other authors! (This method does not help everyone, but still I decided to enter it here)
And so, along the same path in the "WindowsNoEditor" folder, we find the "Engine" file and go into it. After the last line, we make two indents (by pressing the Enter key) and enter the script:

bSmoothFrameRate=false
MinSmoothedFrameRate=5
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120
bUseVSync=false

Then save the file and close it.

Here is an example of the complete contents of my "Engine" file:

Paths=../../../Engine/Content
Paths=../../../DeadByDaylight/Content
Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/2D/Paper2D/Content
Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Runtime/LeapMotionController/Content

bSmoothFrameRate=false
MinSmoothedFrameRate=5
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120
bUseVSync=false

What does the script mean:

MinSmoothedFrameRate is the minimum value for your frame rate.
MaxSmoothedFrameRate - this is the maximum value of your frame rate (it is recommended to set this value according to your monitor hertz)
