Laptop model Command line. How to find out the laptop model: where to see the exact modification. Command Line or CMD

Hello.

In some cases, it is necessary to know the exact model of the laptop, and not just a manufacturer of ASUS or ACER for example. Many users are lost with a similar question and do not always exactly determine the desired.

In this article I want to stay on the simplest and rapid ways to determine the laptop model, which will be relevant in not depending on which manufacturer your laptop (ASUS, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Samsung, etc. - for all relevant) .

Consider several ways.

1) Documents when buying, passport on the device

This is an easy and fast way to learn all the information about your device, but there is one big "but" ...

In general, I am an opponent in order to define some of the characteristics of the computer (laptop) on those "pieces" that you got in the store with it. The fact is that vendors are often confused and can give you paper to another device from the same model range, for example. In general, where there is a human factor - an error can always play ...

In my opinion, there are even simpler and rapid ways, defining a laptop model without any papers. About them below ...

2) Stickers on the device housing (side, rear, on the battery)

At the absolute majority of laptops there are stickers with different information about software, device characteristics and other information. Not always, but often among these information is the device model (see Fig. 1).

Fig. 1. Sticker on the case of the device - Acer Aspire 5735-4774.

By the way, the sticker may not always be visible: often it happens on the back wall of the laptop, on the side, on the rechargeable battery. This search option is very relevant when the laptop does not turn on (for example), and you need to define its model.

3) How to see the device model in BIOS

In BIOS, in general, you can clarify or configure many times. Not an exclusion and model of the laptop. To enter the BIOS - you need to press the function key after turning on the device, usually: F2 or DEL.

How to enter the BIOS on a laptop or computer:

Fig. 2. Laptop model in BIOS.

After you enter the BIOS, it is enough to pay attention to the "Product Name" string (Main section - i.e. mainly or basic). Most often, after entering the BIOS - you even need to move in any additional tabs ...

4) via the command line

If Windows installed on the laptop and it is loaded, then you can find out the model by using the usual command line. To do this, you need to enter the following command: WMIC CSProduct Get Name, then press ENTER.

Fig. 3. Command line - Laptop model Inspiron 3542.

5) via dxdiag and msinfo32 in windows

Another simple way to know the model of the laptop, without resorting to any special. Software is to use DXDiag or MSINFO32 system utilities.

The algorithm of work is:

1. Press the Win + R buttons and enter the dxdiag command (or mSInfo32.), then the ENTER key (sample in Fig. 4).

Stay on each, probably there is no great point. As an example, I will give a screenshot from the popular AIDA64 program (see Fig. 7).

This article finishes. I think the proposed ways are more than enough 🙂 Good Luck!

I continue to talk about how to identify the device model. If last time I talked about, today there comes a laptop queue. Immediately a traditional question - why do you need to know the device model? For example, in order to download the "correct" driver, which is suitable for which is your laptop, or to replace the battery.

By the way, in the case of a laptop, you can find out the model in 99.9% of cases. Now you will make sure that.

We look at the packaging

First of all, of course, you need to pay your attention to the packaging from the laptop. In some cases, the packaging can be colorful, it depicts your device and is written next to its name. If the box is the simplest and there is only the name of the manufacturer, it means that there should be a sticker on which all laptop parameters are indicated. Such stickers simply may not be, so looking better.

In addition, in the package there is always an instruction for a device on which the name of the device is written in black.

The method is relevant for those cases, if you did not have time to get rid of packaging.

Front Panel

Some manufacturers indicate the laptop model right next to the screen. So, in particular, HP is received - under the screen in some cases you can find a small marking (other manufacturers may indicate the label above the screen). An example is shown below in the picture:

Back cover

If you do not see the name of the model, it means there is a reason to turn the laptop. On its back cover there is a small sticker with the name of the model, as well as some characteristics of the device.

Often it is not even a sticker, but a kind of engraving - the letters are printed right on the plastic, so the information is not going anywhere.

Under the battery

In some cases, you can find the inscriptions under the battery. Gently remove the battery and see if there are any entries under them. Immediately I want to say that few manufacturers do this, so the risk that you will not find anything.

But the inscriptions on the battery itself are not talking about anything. As a rule, you can only find the name of the model of the battery itself, which in turn can be used on various devices.

dxdiag

Turn on the device, and after it is running, click on the "Start" button and write dxdiag in the "Find Programs and Files" string (this is a DirectX diagnostic tool). Then start the program of the same name and wait some time until it collects data.

On the System tab, you can see different information about your device. Take a look at the "Computer Model" string, where your device's name will be indicated.

Command line

Another standard Windows tool that can help us.

To use the command line, go to "Start" - "All Programs" - "Standard" - "Command Line". Either in the "Find Programs and Files" string write the CMD word.

So, the command line is running. Write a WMI CSProduct Get Name without quotes and other characters, then click on ENTER.

Voila, we see a laptop model. I want to note that in some cases the name of the manufacturer is present on the command line, and in others there is no.

Bios.

Alternatively, you can use the information that is available in BIOS. About how to go to it, I'm in detail some time ago, so I will not repeat.

So, BIOS is running. Now you need to find a tab with information about your device. Most often it is called - info. It has almost all information about the laptop, including the model and type of processor, hard disk, the name of additional components, etc.

In the column Product Name you will see the name of the laptop.

Third-party programs

If it happened that you can't find the name of the model of your device in any way, then in the extreme case, you can use third-party software that collects absolutely all the information about your laptop.

Such programs are a great set. For the already established tradition, I will talk about one of the most famous and popular programs called Everest. I immediately want to remind you that the program is paid, but for the first 30 days the developer will not charge you, so for some time you can use the "Everest" for free.

Download Everest from the official site, install on your computer and run. Next, open the tab "Computer" - "Total Information" and in the right part in the column "System fee" we see the name of your laptop.

P.S. All specified ways are suitable for any laptops: HP, ASUS, Lenovo, Samsung, Dell, Acer, Toshiba, etc.

That's all. I sincerely hope that the information presented here will help you find out the model of your laptop. There will be questions - ask.

Greetings to your blog!
Sometimes a question arises before the user of the computer: "How to find out the laptop model."
This may be needed, for example, when you need to download drivers for it or find instructions for it. It may still be needed when replacing components, when buying a power supply for it or a battery.

In fact, the reasons for knowing the name of the model of their laptop or netbook can be very much and each user should be able to determine it alone. Even if you constantly use your laptop, then after some time, you just forget what model you can only be called the manufacturer's company.

Ways to learn the marking of their laptop a lot and some of them are the same as when determining the labeling of your iron friend. So I recommend the programs that will help you save, as they can come in handy in the future.

Please note that the universal version of finding the marking of your laptop is practically no, any of these options may not work. It depends on the status of a laptop, from its model and from the programs that we use. Even the most reliable way, this is marked on the laptop itself, may not help you if it is not elementary or it will be lost.

Therefore, I advise you to adjust several ways that you most like and use them. When writing a article, I checked these options on different laptops and one way was worked on some, and on other models it was useless.
The article is divided into several points, from the simplest and obvious, to more complex, choose anyone and use it.

You can find out the laptop model:

You can find out the laptop model by looking at the emblems or stickers on it.

The easiest and most obvious way to find out the model of the laptop is to look at its marking and on the stickers that are located on the bottom of its housing.

On some models, the marking is in front, from the screen side or on the keyboard panel, you just need to carefully look at it. But of course, such a marking is not applied to all models, so you can not be it, it may not be here.

You can more accurately get information about your model if you turn it upside down and look carefully on the stickers that are on its bottom panel. On each laptop, the manufacturer leaves detailed information on a special sticker, so reading it you will get a complete clarity of what model you have. An exception can only be for those models that such stickers simply did not turn out for various reasons. Then you have to use one of the options described below in the article.

You can still disconnect the battery and see if there are no stickers on the case under it, on some models the marking can be seen there.

Looking at the instructions or drive with drivers.

If you are the owner of a new laptop and carefully keep all the documentation for it, then you are lucky, you can find out the marking of your model reading this documentation.

Not all instructions may contain the name of your model, but in my case I was lucky and from the instructions for my laptop I can see which model I have.

Also help learn the labeling can also drive with drivers if you have such a disc look at him, maybe you will be lucky and you will read the name of your model.

Looking at the shopping note on the purchase of a laptop.

This method is rather an exception from the rules than the Normal Council, since not all users store checks of their purchases for several years.

I was lucky for a laptop purchased in 2011, in 2016 I still have a check from this purchase from which you can determine without errors, exactly what is called the model of your laptop. If you carefully keep all your checks and warranty coupons, look at them, they will help you to know your model.

With BIOS, you can find out the laptop model.

This method is far from universal, since all laptops can be found in the BIOS to read the model name, but it is necessary to consider it.

Go to the BIOS of your laptop and immediately on the first page, which is called "information", in the "Product Name" line you will see the name of your model. But I repeat, not all laptops have such information, here already, as lucky.

Please note that different models of laptops in different ways reflect information about yourself when viewing it in different programs.
The name of some models can be seen in the "Model" line, and the name of the other in the "version" string. This must be considered when viewing information in such programs and watch both lines.

Using the Windows command line.

With the help of the command line console, you can also find out the labeling of some laptop models, consider two options as it can be done.
Open the Windows command prompt by pressing the Win + R keys and in the "Run" window, enter the "CMD" command without quotes. A command prompt window will open, where you need to enter the desired command.

The first team, it is:

wMIC CSProduct Get Name

Enter it and click "Enter", after which in the line below you will see the name of the model of your laptop.
This command is hard to remember, it is much easier to use the following command. Enter the word in the console:

and press "ENTER", after which information about your system will appear in the console.

You need strings "System Manufacturer" and "System Model", where you can find the information you need.

Just keep in mind that this method does not work on all computers, on some you will not see the name of the marking, for example, my Lenovo has not decided on this command, since it can be defined in the line "version", and Samsung was determined, it was perfectly visible in Row "Model".

Using the DirectX diagnostic program.

The standard Windows utility, which is called - dxdiag.exe, can help you determine the name of the model of your laptop. When you run it on a stationary computer, then she will show you the labeling of the motherboard of your PC, and when using it on a laptop, it already shows its marking.

Click on the "Start" button and enter the command in the search string:

A window will open, which is called "DirectX Diagnostic Tool", with which we can recognize the labeling of our portable computer.

Here you need to go to the "System" tab, where we are only interested in two lines:
"Computer Manufacturer" - will indicate us the name of the manufacturer.
"Computer Model" - its marking.
But note that this program can not always show you a laptop model, only if it is visible to the program, as a model, and not as version.

How to find out the laptop model using programs that show information about the computer.

There are many programs with which you can get complete information about the contents of your computer and some such programs will help us to prompt us which model is our laptop.
With some of them we will get in this article.

Using Everest.

The Everest program has settled for quite a long time on the computers of users and despite the fact that new versions of this utility have already appeared, it can still serve us and suggest which model we have a laptop.

http://www.lavalys.com/

To do this, do the following:
1. Open the program and in the "Menu" tab, select "Computer - DMI".
2. In the right program window, open the "System" item, and at the bottom of the window, look at the "Product" and "version" strings, where you will see the name of the model of your laptop.

Using the PC Wizard program.

The following program with which you can find out the name of the model of your laptop, is the PC Wizard information utility.

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html.

Open the program and go to the "Iron" section by selecting the Motherboard icon in it.

Here in the right window of the program, go to the "Manufacturer" section and in the bottom window, in the "Product" or "version" line you will see how the model of your laptop is called.

Using the AIDA64 program.

The AIDA64 program is an updated version of the same Everest and externally, they are very similar and recognize the laptop marking can also be using this program.

http://www.aida64russia.ru.

Download any version of the AIDA64 program and run it. The program is paid, but it does not hurt us the necessary information.

Also, as in its preceding version, go to the "Menu" laying and:
1. Open the "Computer-DMI" item.
2. In the right window, open the "System" tab, and in the lower, in the "Product" or "version" line you will see the name of the model of your laptop.

Using the Sisoftware Sandra program.

The Sisoftware Sandra application is designed to diagnose and analyze computer components and with its help you can also find out the laptop model.

You can download the BELARC Advisor program by reference:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

When you start the program, your system analysis will be performed and its results will be shown in the browser.

To find out the characteristics of your laptop, you need to see the section "System Model", which is located at the top of the program window.

Using the Windows utility - "System Information".

Windows has a standard utility that shows the user information about the system of your computer, it is called "MSINFO32" or simply "System Information".
To open it, you just click the "Start" button and enter the program name in the search bar - "System Information", Windows will find it and you will only start to run the utility.

On the main program window, you will see basic information about your computer and if you have a laptop, in the "manufacturer" and "model" lines, you will see information about its marking.

I described only some programs with which you can get information about your computer, in fact, they are much more. For example, a very popular CPU-Z utility also can show you a laptop label in the Motherboard tab in the model line, but not only on all models it works.
I advise you to use several options and programs for the test, since all of them show information about the system and to know it certainly, it is better to try several options.
If you know any other ways to find out the laptop model, please write about them in the comments to this article.
Good luck!

How to find out the model of your Samsung laptop

Why do you need to know the model of the laptop? It's no secret that for the effective operation of any laptop, it is necessary not only to comply with the norms of neat and careful operation, but also to know the necessary information about it. Such information is the exact model of your technique. We will help you find a way out of this situation and tell how you can find out the model of your laptop.

Remember that you can always seek professional advice on Samsung laptops specialists.

Manual

The first source where you can find out about the model of your laptop is a guide to its operation, if, of course, you have, although, as practice shows, people retain such documents extremely rarely. The minus may be the fact that the manufacturer indicates the generalized information of one line for different modifications, i.e. Information may not be complete.

Stickers

The laptop model can be indicated on the information stickers, which are located on the bottom or on the front parts of the gadget. On these elements, except for the model, you will also find information from manufacturers and about the Laptop series.

It is worth noting that stickers are often broken or rubbed during operation. Therefore, this option is also not always successful.

Battery

If the stickers on your laptop are not preserved, try to go to another way - inspect it with a battery. It's not difficult to do it: on the bottom side you will see a pair of latches (in some laptop models there can be one lock). Purchase them in the open position, then remove the protective cover and pull the power supply. As a rule, the product manufacturer is always indicated on batteries, as well as its series and model.

Properties of the system

This is another unripe method to find out the data on the laptop model in the Windows system. Just click the right side of the mouse over the "Computer" icon. Follow the Properties tab. After that, you will need to find the "model" string.

You can use the command line tool. In the Start menu search row, you need to dial on the "CMD" keyboard and press ENTER.

You can also use the "Win" + "R" keys, enter the "CMD" and press ENTER. In the window that appears with a black background, specify "WMIC CSProduct Get Name" and approve with entering Enter. The "Name" line displays the information you need.

Bios.

You can define the model in the BIOS menu. To enter the menu while restarting the laptop, press Fn + F2 or, depending on the model, repeatedly pressing the DEL, F2 keys, or Esc. Next you will need to find and click on the "Info" option. In this section you will find all the information about your laptop, including the model.

There are many ways, for example, using an additional program as Everest. But these are the most simple and affordable. Depending on the situation, such uncomplicated methods will allow you to find out the exact model of your laptop very quickly.

In some cases, the user has the need to find out the model of his laptop. This information may be required, for example, to order the components at the failure of some components or the update of the "iron" of the portable device. If a mobile computer was bought recently, then, most likely, its name has not yet been erased from memory, but if a lot of time has passed since the acquisition, then here you need to search for the necessary data. In our article just tell me where to see the laptop model, its serial number and other information on the device. The instruction is suitable for PC of any brands: ASUS, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Samsung, Toshiba, etc.

Documentation and Laptop Case

When buying a computer, the mass of various papers is transmitted with it: commodity and cash checks, warranty coupon, instruction manual. In any of them, the laptop model is indicated, so if the documents are not lost and are located nearby, then the necessary information can be led from them. In addition, data on the portable PC is probably displayed on the factory box, to which it was packaged.

View the laptop model is also possible on stickers located on the device case. Stickers are often located on the front part next to the keyboard and the touchpad or on the back.

In addition to the model, the sticker may contain other useful information - serial number, MAC address, processor type and other characteristics.

Getting Data from BIOS

Another simple way to find out the laptop model is to find it in the BIOS system. The information you are interested in will be on the main page in the string with the parameter Product Name..

The name of the portable device also appears in the panel DirectX. To open it by pressing the keys Win + R. Run the "Run" string and enter the command dxdiag. Then press the ENTER and in the window that appears on the System tab find the "Computer Model" parameter. This is exactly what we need.

System Information

By the analogy with Directh, the system "System Information" utility is launched, which is also capable of answering the question of how to find out the laptop model. The only difference is that in the "Run" window you need to enter mSInfo32..

Command line

Determine the model of your laptop will allow the classic Windows command line. Call it using the "Run" window (command cmd.) or Start menu. Next in the window we enter wMIC CSProduct Get Name.

Use of special utilities

Detailed PC data provide various diagnostic programs - HWMONITOR, EVEREST, AIDA64. All will not be considered, for example, take the last one. After installing and running the application proceed along the branch Computer - DMI - System. Next to the "Product" parameter, we look at the laptop model.

The name of the device in the HP Support Assistant

HP NoBook Owners In addition to all the above methods for determining the computer model, you have the opportunity to use a special utility. HP Support Assistant.. If for some reason it is not installed on your Hewlett Packard device, then go to the official website of the manufacturer http://support.hp.com/ and download it from there. View the laptop model can be immediately on multiple pages of the application.
