How to put music on SMS in Nokia Lumia? Actually, this is the question that many users ask me. Therefore, I decided to write a complete instruction, which in turn will allow you and your friends to do it yourself.

First of all, I would like to emphasize that this instruction for setting a ringtone to SMS is only compatible with devices running the latest version of the operating system, that is Windows Phone 8.1. Therefore, if your smartphone runs on a previous version - on 8-ke, in this case, this article does not suit you, since there is a slightly different way to set the melody.

So let's transgress. The principle of setting a melody is quite simple, and it is similar to setting your own music to a ringtone in WP-smartphones.

1) Initially, you will need to find an application called “Melody Creator” in the phone menu. In the event that this application does not exist (although this is unlikely), then you will need to download it from the application store and only after that proceed to the second step.

2) We go into the application and click "select a song."

3) We find the song that we want to use as a melody on incoming messages.

4) Next, you will need to select a segment of the track that you want to hear as a ringtone on SMS messages, and click save. Thanks to the developers from NOKIA for saving us from unnecessary crap - cutting music on the computer.

5) Melody created. Most importantly, do not click set as ringtone, as you are about to set it to SMS.

6) Now again go to the settings and find the item "notifications + actions".

7) Scroll to the bottom and find "Messages".

8) Here we will see several options, including the drop-down menu "Notification Sound". Click on "default".

In a modern smartphone, there are many different options for ringtones. As a rule, the choice is rich - from the classic call of an analog telephone to a melodic polyphonic composition. However, despite the proposed options, this is not enough for users and they download popular songs in mp3 format for a call. Windows Phone is no exception, but often new owners of Windows smartphones have incomprehensible situations when setting their own ringtone.

Setting your own ringtone on your Windows Phone

First of all, you need to pay attention to the characteristics of the melody intended for the call. As long as it's not DRM protected and under 30MB, it's perfect for a Windows Phone ringtone.
To install a melody, you first need to download it in the Windows online store, in the section responsible for the variety of melodies, or receive an mp3 sound file in a message, and then save it as sound or music on your phone, or copy it to your phone from a computer using USB - cable.

If the ringtone file is stored on the computer, it is enough to use the capabilities of the Windows operating system. To do this, connect your Windows Phone to your computer and follow a few steps:

1. In Windows 7 and Vista, use the Start button, in the subsections, find the "Computer" tab. In Windows 8, you need to call the "Desktop", then select "File Browser", then "Computer".

Attention. At the time of the first connection between the computer and the phone, the operating system will offer to download and install the application for synchronization. Do this by following the prompts.

2. Go to the portable devices section, double click on the phone folder, then click on the "Ringtones" icon.

3. Locate the desired ringtone file on your computer and copy it to the "Ringtones" folder (either "Phone ringtones" or "Alarm tone").

note that to add your own sound signal to the phone, simply copying the sound file is not enough. In addition, you must select this melody as a signal for a specific contact or for all calls by default.

To set a single melody for all calls, go to "Settings", then to "Melodies + calls", and then to "Ringtone". The added music will be displayed in the list of all melodies.

To set a ringtone for a specific contact, select the contact, then "Edit Contact", in the proposed options for changing, expand the "Ringtone" list and select the desired melody.

Windows Phone can be customized with different alerts, messages, and notifications. In the "Melodies + calls" section, you can make a suitable setting.

Smartphones on Windows Phone 7.5 have a bunch of standard ringtones, but it's much more pleasant to listen to your favorite track as an incoming call, agree? You can install your ringtone on Nokia Lumia, Samsung Omnia and other WP solutions, but you can't do without prompts. In this article, we will show you step by step how to do it.

1. You need to select a composition and trim it so that the final file satisfies the silly Microsoft restrictions. Any audio editor is suitable for editing. I used the free Audacity(). You will probably need the LAME codec, it is .

You need to add the desired track through File - Open ...;

Select the desired piece with a duration of no more than 39 seconds (the easiest way is by seconds at the bottom), and then select File - Export Selection ... Properties: MP3, 192 kbps, constant bit rate.

An important condition for a ringtone is that it should not weigh more than 1 MB and should be DRM-free.

When saving, the program will prompt you to make changes to the tags. In the genre column, we must prescribe RINGTONE (this can be done in the properties by pressing RMB or in the Zune itself).

2. If the file is not yet in the Zune, then it's time to drag it there. It will be added to the collection, from where it must be moved to the smartphone icon in the lower left part (the phone must be connected to the PC). Synchronization will take place.

3. The ringtone will appear on the phone along the path: Settings - Melodies + sounds - Ringtone - Custom. Everybody:)

I must say that there are several applications in the Marketplace that allow you to make a ringtone directly on your smartphone, but they are paid. There is, for example, "Ringtones" - a good program that allows you to download music from VKontakte, Skydrive, Dropbox and SoundCloud. I will not say that with its help it is much easier to cope with the ringtone, but you can use it as an alternative. There are also programs with already cut tunes, but, unfortunately, the choice there is limited only to popular tracks.

It's not as difficult as it seems at first. For this procedure, we need a program for cutting music, a Zune, a USB cable and, of course, a phone.

OK. Let's go.

It is not necessary to install complex programs for working with sound and spend hours on them. Now everything is simple. You can use websites that specialize in cutting tracks. I recommend the site http://www.mp3cut.ru/prog_spilt_onln

It is the most simple, beautiful and concise. Music is trimmed on it in three clicks. Trimming my track took me 30 seconds.

Remember that in order to install a ringtone, the mp3 file must be less than 1 MB. and no longer than 30 seconds.

And so, we have a ringtone. Launch Zune and add the ringtone to the collection. We find it in the collection.

Click on it with the right mouse button - change.

The song details window opens. Add the inscription "ringtone" to the name (optional). Further. Be sure to change the genre to "Ringtone". If this is not in the list, just enter "Ringtone". Save. Reset the track to your phone.

Go to settings - ringtones + sounds - ringtone. The first item on the list will be "Custom" and if you did everything right - our ringtone will be displayed there. That's all!
