How to convert CR2 to JPG file online. Ways to convert CR2 to JPG Cr2 open online

The service allows you to convert (convert) from CR2 format to JPG format

CR2 is a graphics file format developed by the video and camera manufacturer Canon. This means that all images taken by this manufacturer's equipment are saved by default in the CR2 format (short name for Canon Raw Image File). One of the most attractive properties of images in this format is their high quality, even if the file is edited (color balance, contrast, brightness change). The data for the CR2 format image is obtained directly from the matrix. Among the main disadvantages of the format are the large file size, as well as poor compatibility with other software products.

JPEG is the most common and popular raster image format. The form received its name from the abbreviation of the name of the development organization, Joint Photographic Experts Group. Files of this format are used today in all digital cameras and cameras. They have a good compression ratio and support 24-bit color depth. Because this compression significantly reduces the size of an image with virtually no loss of quality, the JPEG format is widely used on the Internet. However, the stronger the compression, the worse the quality. In addition, the JPEG format does not support the transparency option.

Reviews

And what, after words of gratitude, not a single photo can be translated?
I like it, but everything is happening slowly.
Thank you so much for existing))) God I’m happy

Sometimes situations arise when you need to open CR2 pictures, but for some reason the built-in photo viewer in the OS complains about an unknown extension. CR2 is a photo format where you can view data about the parameters of the image and the conditions under which the shooting process took place. This extension was created by a well-known manufacturer of photographic equipment specifically to prevent loss of image quality.

You can open RAW using specialized software from Canon, but it is not very convenient to use. Today we will talk about online services that will help convert photos in CR2 format into the well-known and understandable JPG format, which can be opened not only on a computer, but also on mobile devices.

Considering that files in CR2 format weigh quite a lot, you will need stable high-speed Internet access to work.

Method 1: I love IMG

A simple resource for converting CR2 format to JPG. The conversion procedure is fast; the exact time depends on the size of the initial photo and network speed. The final image loses virtually no quality. The site is easy to understand and does not contain professional functions and settings, so it will be comfortable to use even for a person who does not understand the issue of converting images from one format to another.

The file is stored on the service for an hour, after which it is automatically deleted. You can see the remaining time on the final image upload page. If you don't need to store the image, just click "Delete now" after downloading.

Method 2: Online Convert

The Online Convert service will allow you to quickly convert an image into the desired format. To use it, just upload an image, set the necessary settings and start the process. Conversion occurs automatically, and the output is a high-quality image that can be further processed.

Processing the file on Online Convert took longer than on I love IMG. But the site offers users the opportunity to make additional settings for the final photo.

Method 3: Pics.io

The Pics.io service allows users to convert a CR2 file to JPG directly in the browser without the need to download additional programs. The site does not require registration and provides conversion services free of charge. You can save the finished photo on your computer or immediately post it to Facebook. Supports work with photos taken on any Canon cameras.

I came across this problem. I was filming the process of replacing the socket for the website and forgot to switch the shooting mode on the camera. As a result, instead of JPG files, all the pictures turned out to be CR2 (Image from the matrix of Canon cameras).

I was too lazy to convert all the pictures by hand. Therefore, I decided to describe here a faster way to convert CR2 to JPG using the Canon utility that came with the camera: Digital Photo Professional

To begin with, I put all the photos on my computer in a separate folder.

Open Digital Photo Professional.

Select the folder we need.

I highlighted the photos I needed, because... I will not process the entire folder, but only a part. And I click Process by group.

A window with group processing settings opens. On the left are the files to be processed.
At the top is the path to the folder where the converted files will be saved.

I selected a folder to save the converted files
I decided to change the size of the picture. I set the width to 1280 (while locking the proportions so that the photo’s proportions would not shift)

When everything is ready, click Run.

The conversion has begun.

Now let's see what happened:

By converting a file to another file extension, you can use other programs to service it. But we should not forget that the CR2 file, after converting to JPG, may differ slightly from the original, for example in the placement of data. The most important information should be preserved, but if you are interested in the file being identical after converting from CR2 to JPG, you should act judiciously and select the appropriate application from the list below. This doesn't guarantee that the conversion will be 100% as expected, but it can still help a lot. If, nevertheless, the effect of converting the CR2 file to JPG did not meet your expectations, you can try to find on the Internet another version of your file in the CR2 format, previously correctly converted by someone else into a JPG file. If this does not work for you, use the information presented in the next section.

What other possibilities are there?

Unfortunately, if after performing the two previously described steps (trying to find your CR2 files converted by someone else, and trying to convert it to JPG format yourself), there is still a problem with the file, then there are few solutions left. You can try again to find and install an application that can open the CR2 file in its original format (without converting to a JPG file. This solution will be difficult to implement, but will undoubtedly give the best result.

Used in Canon cameras. It is also known as “digital negatives”, a format chosen by photographers for its extensive editing capabilities during digital processing. Their ability to preserve a large amount of image detail is also attractive. The disadvantage of this format is its huge size, which causes certain difficulties in storing and distributing this type of format. Additionally, CR2 files are not compatible with a number of image viewing applications and are not accepted by image sharing sites.

JPG is one of the most popular image formats in use today. Its main advantage is the ability to store good quality images in small files. This is possible due to the type of compression used. The mechanism of this type of compression prioritizes some parts of the image over others, preserving high-quality areas of the image that are most visible to the human eye.
