Highscreen WinJoy and WinWin smartphones. Review-comparison of Highscreen WinWin and WinJoy

Highscreen WinJoy, reviews of which the reader can find at the end of this article, is nothing more than a really cheap smartphone model running the operating system of the Windows Phone family. The device was conditionally classified as an economy class. Against the background of its competitors, which work on the basis of the pre-installed Android OS, the device stands out noticeably in a good sense of the word. The main advantage here is, of course, the presence of a quad-core processor. At the time of the release, the cost of the smartphone was about $ 60, so many people immediately had a question about how the Windows Phone operating system got accustomed to the device with such a price. What's the catch? Perhaps we will talk about this later, but let's start with the prerequisites for the creation of Highscreen WinJoy, reviews of which instantly spread throughout the forums.

Creation and positioning

Of course, it has already become clear to everyone that the progress of flagship smartphones is starting to lose momentum. As soon as the developers of mobile devices are not sophisticated, what kind of sensors do they introduce into their devices! Often, many gadgets are equipped with a whole list of useless chips that perform useless functions. At the same time, there is a very tough competition between budget mobile phones. It turns out to be a kind of battlefield. So far, the leading positions in a kind of race belong to Chinese brands.

How and why?

The Chinese have adopted low-quality components. These are some devices from the MediaTek family, as well as the Spreadtrum. In addition, many Chinese phones are delivered to the market with a pre-installed Android operating system version 4.2 (or 4.4). The factor of luck plays a significant role. If the buyer of such a device is lucky, then for absolutely ridiculous money he will receive a device that he can use for many years, and he will be very, very pleased with it. Often such smartphones are called "immortal", because their service life inspires respect, and the device simply ignores threats of a mechanical and thermal nature (in permissible ranges of intensity).

Why did HighScreen use a different OS?

Now there is a noticeable trend towards an increase in sales of devices running the Windows Phone operating system. More and more people paying attention to budget class devices are voting in favor of such smartphones. So what? Practical, cute, often equipped with good stuffing devices. What else do you need to be happy? In addition, even in cases where the scope of installation of potential hardware is very limited, Microsoft has managed to create very good multimedia devices. As an example, we can cite two "Lumii" at once: 520 and 620. So it turned out that the Chinese brands had to gradually give up their positions in favor of the Finns. The Russian brand has played for broke, deciding to release its own device running Windows Phone, in order to further push the Chinese from the leading position. Of course, the company has succeeded in something. But a coin always has two sides, so there is no need to talk about an unambiguous victory in this case. What can you expect from a WP smartphone, the cost of which at the start of sales was about four thousand rubles?

Highscreen WinJoy: characteristics

The operating system on board the device is Windows Phone version 8.1. The screen has a diagonal of four inches. The resolution is 800 by 480 pixels, the density is 233 by one inch. The matrix of the screen is made using TFT technology, which provides good color reproduction. The hardware is represented by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (model 200). The chipset has four cores with a clock frequency of 1.2 gigahertz. The graphics processor is nothing more than the Adreno 302. The built-in RAM is 512 megabytes. Flash memory is available in 4 GB size.

To increase this volume, you can use an external microSD drive. The smartphone has a special slot for it. The set of communication modules is, one might say, standard. It is represented by support for third-generation cellular networks, a Wi-Fi module (works in the b, g, and n bands), "bluetooth" version 4.0. Navigation capabilities are based on the use of GPS and GLONASS satellites. The main camera resolution is 5 megapixels. It is equipped with an auto focus function and is capable of shooting video in 864 x 480 pixels quality. The front is not impressive. Its resolution is only 0.3 megapixels.

The battery is a removable type, it is designed for a capacity equal to 1700 milliamperes per hour. The dimensions of the device are as follows: 122 (in height), 83 (in width) and 10 (in thickness) millimeters. At the same time, the mass of the smartphone does not exceed 105 grams. The delivery set for Highscreen WinJoy, the price of which at the time of release was 4 thousand rubles, includes the device itself, a charging unit, a MicroUSB cable (useful for charging and for synchronizing the model with a personal computer or laptop), as well as a wired stereo headset.

Design

The Finnish mobile phone manufacturer (and we are talking about Nokia) is used to delighting us with the bright colors in which its devices enter the market. The Russian developer decided to proceed with caution and try to please everyone in this regard at once. Well, he did it quite well. The Highscreen WinJoy, the characteristics of which were given earlier, is delivered to the smartphone market in four colors at once. These are classic white and black, as well as blue and red. Although the latter is not very logical for a budget mobile phone, in practice we see completely different results. It should be noted that the thickness of the bezels located around the perimeter of the display falls within the allowable range.

Manufacturing materials

Perhaps the most applicable to this model will be the word “miniature”. Previously, the creation of the South Korean developer - Samsung Galaxy S - could compete with it. Well, among relatively modern models, the first association for some reason is linked to the "iPhone 5C". It is possible that the whole point is in the materials of manufacture. They are similar in these two devices - plastic. But taking the Highscreen WinJoy phone in hand, you can immediately understand that we are dealing with a device belonging to the budget class. Alas, the plastic gives out the model, as they say, just with giblets. If you look at the back cover, you might first think that it is a matte material. But, unfortunately, there is nothing in common between it and the so-called “soft-touch”. The Highscreen WinJoy smartphone is made from a slicker alternative. Such material can be seen in computer mice in the budget segment.

The convenience of use

Despite the fact that the quality of the materials is not at the highest level, the smartphone lies securely and firmly in the hand. The situation may worsen with the most active use of the model. In this case, the processor begins to warm up, distributing heat over the entire surface of the phone. And then, if you imitate cowboys who pull pistols out of their holsters at speed, the device can simply be dropped. And what will happen next, whether it will withstand the mechanical load - it is simply impossible to predict.

Build quality

There should be no complaints about this parameter. Highscreen WinJoy, the firmware of which is available on the official website of the Russian developer, is made of a fairly high quality. The control keys barely protrude above the body. These are the controls for volume control and power on and off. In economy class, mobile devices often suffer from backlash. But in the case of the model being monitored today, they were not noticed.

Sensory elements

They are equipped with soft white backlighting. They work on touch unmistakably and lightning fast.

Slots

The device has slots for two SIM cards. To use them, you will need to pre-process them according to the MicroSIM standard. The advantage of this model is that it allows you to assign a mode of operation in third-generation cellular networks for any of the SIM cards. The slot for installing an external microUSB drive is located in such a way that it can be replaced in a “hot” mode.

Conclusion and feedback

So far, the Russian developer has not been able to completely defeat the main supplier of devices running the Windows Phone operating system. We are talking, of course, about Microsoft. Nevertheless, the company "Hayscreen" already has certain developments in this area. The closest competitor to the model we are reviewing is the Lumiya 530. In cost, they differ only by two hundred rubles. However, taking our model in hand and looking inside, we will notice that the manufacturer saved on everything he could.

There is no front camera at all. For this reason, video calls are not possible. There is a main camera, but it will not please the users of the phone with high-quality pictures. The thing is that with a fairly good resolution (5 megapixels), it is not equipped with an automatic focusing function on the subject. That is why the language simply does not turn to call the pictures taken as high-quality. "VinJoy" (the best-selling variation on the international mobile arena Highscreen WinJoy Black) will lose to the 530th "Lumiya" in terms of energy saving. Yes, the battery is not very powerful. But "Lumii" have well-defined energy saving settings, and it pleases.

But what should be noted: the device, created by the Russian company, coped with the task that was initially set for it. The device has become available to everyone with a smartphone running the Windows Phone operating system. At the same time, the device can be called really harmonious. The quad-core processor allows the model to be used in multitasking mode, supports operation in 3G cellular networks, and the workmanship is at an acceptable level.

So, what conclusion can be drawn based on customer reviews of this model? More than once they have noted an unoriginal, but nevertheless pleasant design. Among the positive aspects, there is a relatively powerful hardware filling, a good main camera module.

The list of disadvantages may be a little longer. Although the color rendition is good, the viewing angles are still not what we would like to see. Autonomous work will not please people who do not have access to an electrical network or an external battery. Users also call a low-quality speaker a disadvantage. Based on all this, we can say that with all its advantages, the capabilities of the phone are limited by its cost.

Contents of delivery

Both devices are packed in approximately the same boxes, the only difference is in the quality and method of disclosure. WinWin has a tighter package, it can be opened by lifting the top lid. In WinJoy it is a little simpler, it opens in the standard way: the top, right and left parts are folded back.

WinWin comes with a 0.8 A power adapter, and WinJoy comes with a 1 A power adapter. The WinWin headset has rubber pads and a silver call answering button. The WinJoy headset is much simpler.

The most important difference: the WinWin device has an additional replaceable yellow socket.

Introduction

Not so long ago, two smartphones based on the Windows Phone operating system appeared on our market. One, as you already know, is called Highscreen WinWin and costs about 4,500 rubles, and the other is WinJoy and costs less than 4,000 rubles. The manufacturer was able to set such prices due to the fact that Microsoft at the Build-2014 developer conference announced that manufacturers of smartphones and tablets with displays less than nine inches will not have to pay licensing fees to Microsoft for using W8 and WP8.

Highscreen devices practically do not differ from each other, so I decided to write a comparison-review of WinWin and WinJoy in one article.

Design, dimensions, controls

Since budget devices are difficult to distinguish among the mass of similar gadgets, especially on Android OS, most often manufacturers try to distinguish their devices by using interchangeable panels of different colors. So, for example, WinWin has one removable yellow panel, initially on the gadget it is black. The first is made of porous plastic, the second is covered with a soft-touch layer. And the WinJoy Windowsphone is sold without replaceable covers, but you can buy it either in red or in black (later, apparently, it will appear in white and blue). The dark one, apparently, also has a soft-touch lid, while the red one is made of semi-glossy plastic.

Despite almost the same technical characteristics, including the screen diagonal, the dimensions of smartphones are different:

  • WinWin- 126 x 64 x 10.5 mm
  • WinJoy- 122 x 63 x 9.9 mm

Both gadgets weigh 105 grams.

I liked WinJoy better. It is more compact, fits perfectly in the hand, and is convenient to use. The WinWin device is elongated, but not due to the enlargement of the screen, but due to the enlargement of the screen frames. Therefore, from the point of view of design ergonomics, it loses to the younger model.

The black edging on VinVin is made of soft-touch, and on VinJoy it is matte.

Screens of gadgets are protected by sufficiently durable glass. For a couple of weeks I have not managed to "plant" a single scratch. There is an oleophobic coating both there and there. Fingerprints remain but are very easily erased. The finger glides well over the surface. There is also an anti-glare layer.

The yellow back cover of WinWin is relatively soiled; during active use, its edges are rubbed and darkened. Okay, the marks can be cleaned gently. The lid on the WinJoy makes it harder.

Both devices are assembled on a solid five: they do not creak, do not crunch when twisted and squeezed, the backs do not bend to the batteries.

On top of the front panel there are speech speakers. The volume is equally low, I would say low. The quality is acceptable (as it seemed to me, it is better on WinWin), mostly high frequencies are heard, the intelligibility is average. They hear you a little deaf. In general, the speakers are not the best, but they are not the worst either. There are proximity sensors, but no light sensors. Front cameras are at opposite ends.

Under the display are standard touch buttons: "Back", "Start" and "Search". They are painted with translucent white paint. The backlight is present; on WinWin it is a little brighter.

The microphone for WinJoy is at the bottom end, and for WinWin it is under the button "Search". On the top end of "VinVin" there is a micro-USB connector and 3.5 mm audio-out, on "VinJoy" - only 3.5 mm. The micro-USB connector of the junior model is located on the left side.

The top model has a volume rocker on the left side. It is plastic, black, relatively convex, can be easily felt with your fingers, the pressure is soft, the stroke is small. The volume rocker on WinJoy is on the top right, and just below the phone's power button (similarly located in WinWin).

Camera eyes and flashes are located on the back of the devices. One of the main differences between WinWin and WinJoy is that the latter has only one speaker. It is both spoken and polyphonic. WinWin has a speaker on the back at the bottom.

Another difference: the WinWin device uses slots for sim cards like miniSIM, while WinJoy uses microSIM. In my opinion, microSIM is more interesting, since now almost all modern devices use this standard.

Both gadgets are equipped with a microSD slot.

Comparative dimensions:

Displays

New items are equipped with screens with a diagonal of 4 inches. Physical size - 52x87. The display bezels on the right and left of WinWin and WinJoy are 6 mm each, the bezels on the top are 17 mm and 16 mm (junior model), the bezels at the bottom are 22 mm and 17 mm (junior model).

The resolution is the same - 480x800 pixels, density - 233 PPI. The matrices are not made using IPS technology, so the viewing angles are unimportant: if you tilt the screen away from you, the brightness and contrast decrease, towards yourself, the colors are sharply inverted. I think that the WinJoy screen behaves worse, since it has a slightly lower matrix backlight brightness, smaller viewing angles, increased contrast, due to which some image details are lost.

Since the devices do not have light sensors, the brightness is manually adjusted. Traditionally, there are only three "steps" for Windows Phone: low, medium, high.

The WinWin screen works up to 3 simultaneous touches, and the WinJoy screen - up to 2. The sensitivity is good.

Viewing angles of screens:

Batteries

The WinWin smartphone has a 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery (B2000B, 7.6 Wh), and the WinJoy has a 1700 mAh lithium-polymer battery (BL4G-I, 6.46 Wh).

The devices did not "run" for long, but even after a couple of days of "use" it was clear that the batteries do not last long, especially if you use two SIM cards.

In video playback mode (MP4, 640x480 pixels) at maximum brightness and volume in the headphones, the WinWin battery sat down after about 4 hours (WinJoy - in 3 hours). If you use 3G, make about 10-15 calls lasting 1-2 minutes, take pictures for 20 minutes, then the WinWin battery will run out in 7-8 hours (WinJoy in about the same time). The toys will power up the WinWin battery in about 2 hours, and WinJoy in 1.5 hours.

The WinWin device takes 2.5 hours to charge from the mains, and the WinJoy takes just over 1.5 hours.

Communication capabilities

Everything in this section is typical for any budget Android smartphone. The devices operate in 2G (GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz) cellular networks.

If one slot works in 3G, then the other will automatically switch to 2G in both models. That is, both slots can function in 3G, but not simultaneously.

To make calls and write messages from a particular SIM card, you need to go to the appropriate sections. They are designated as pictures of handsets and messages with numbers "1" or "2".

Available Bluetooth version 4.0 for file and voice transmission. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g. The device, of course, can be used as a modem.

Working with GPS and GLONASS (gpsOne IZat Gen7A model) did not raise any questions, the Qualcomm chipset functioned quite well. Satellites are determined very quickly, and the accuracy is quite good.

Memory and memory card

The devices are equipped with 512 MB of RAM. In principle, this volume is enough for budget devices, especially for Windows Phone OS. However, this is not about a lack of RAM, but about the fact that some applications and functions will not work on phones with less than 1 GB of RAM.

Inside both gadgets there are 4 GB of Flash memory installed, about 1 GB of free. But there is a slot for a microSD memory card. If a card is inserted, the machine asks you if the data will be saved to it.

Cameras

Despite the low cost of WinWin and WinJoy, they are equipped with 5 MP cameras with autofocus, and there is also a "selfie" camera. In theory, the modules should be the same, but even the front cameras are different.

Highscreen WinJoy on top

The apertures of the lenses are F2.4, the WinWin viewing angle is 40 mm, the WinJoy angle is 35 mm. The last indicators are noticeable to the naked eye: the picture on WinWin is very cropped. In addition, the VinVin camera is notably “noisy”, the details are worse than in VinJoy frames.

The camera on WinJoy was a pleasant surprise, for 5 MP it is quite good: relatively clean shots, normal sharpness, confident and accurate focus. True, sometimes the white balance is naughty.

The front camera of WinWin has a resolution of 0.3 MP, while the WinJoy has a resolution of 1.3 MP. Most likely, interpolation, however, the quality is still better in the younger model: a larger viewing angle, more accurate exposure, better white balance.

They write video in a resolution of 865x480 pixels at 30 frames per second. There is autofocus. The WinJoy camera can focus at a distance of about 3-5 cm. The sound is clearer on WinJoy, but quieter than WinWin.

Performance and software platform

Both smartphones operate on Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8212 chipsets - 4 cores at 1.2 GHz, 45 nm process technology, Adreno 302 is responsible for the graphics (OpenGL ES 2.0, OpenGL ES 1.1, OpenVG 1.1, EGL 1.3, Direct3D Mobile, DirectDraw). In general, something in between 8225Q and 8210.

The devices behave quite well, no glitches or "friezes" of the system were found. However, the scroll brakes are a little annoying when you hold your finger on the screen. As soon as you release it, the list scrolls smoothly. Most modern games (including Asphalt 8) run and run fine on WinWin and WinJoy. However, it is better to count on unpretentious ones, such as Angry Birds.

Screenshots from games:

I think that many will immediately start comparing these gadgets with Android devices. In principle, you can. If a couple of years ago, even a year ago, for 4,000 - 5,000 rubles you could buy an extremely slow "android", now for this money you can easily find an adequate smartphone without unnecessary problems.

Performance tests:

Highscreen WinWin and WinJoy smartphones run on Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.

Multimedia

The devices are equipped with a standard music and video player, radio.

The volume of the WinJoy polyphonic speaker is average, the quality is also not particularly good, the implementation of the "speaker + speakerphone" affects. If you close the hole, the decibel level will decrease by about two times.

The sound in the headphones has a high volume, the quality is not bad, but mostly mid and high frequencies are heard, there is practically no low frequencies.

The volume of the WinWin polyphonic speaker is slightly above average, the quality is more or less normal. If you close the hole, the decibel level will drop to almost zero.

The sound in the headphones is richer than in WinJoy: better bass, more pleasant mids. But the high frequencies are slightly less. But it is better this way than when only mid and high frequencies are played.

Highscreen WinWin and WinJoy devices reproduce video in resolution up to 1280x720 in low bitrate, it is better to "slip" simpler videos in 360x640 resolution or slightly higher.

Conclusion

Let me remind you once again the cost of Highscreen devices on the WP 8.1 operating system: WinWin will cost you 4,500 rubles, and WinJoy - 4,000 rubles. The connection quality is not satisfactory, vibrating alerts are about the same average.

To understand which of the two gadgets is better, let's take a look at the summary table.

Despite the fact that VinVin has more positive characteristics, I would recommend buying VinJoy. It is more compact, fits better in the hand, takes photos and videos well. The rest of the comments are classified as "my personal opinion".

Until recently, smartphones running the Windows Phone operating system were produced only under the brands of large companies: HTC, Nokia, Samsung, Huawei. The choice of these devices was not so great, and frankly budget models, one might say, did not exist. But in 2014, something dramatically changed in Microsoft's policy, and it (the corporation) "allowed" other brands to release devices on the Windows Phone platform. As you would expect, after such a move the number of models of "vinphones" increased markedly, and among them there were budget solutions. For example, the Highscreen trademark offers the Highscreen WinJoy model for 3,990 rubles. This device is the cheapest smartphone in Russia on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform. Actually, this device will be discussed today.

Equipment

For the past few years, Highscreen has been packing its smartphones in branded boxes. The packaging is made of deliberately rough cardboard, on which a drawing is applied to the apparatus indicating the location of the components and the main characteristics. It all looks unusual, but attractive.

The package bundle of the device can be called basic, the box contains the Highscreen WinJoy smartphone itself, a battery, a network charger, a USB-microUSB cord, a simple wired headset, a user manual and a warranty card.

Appearance The appearance of the Highscreen WinJoy indicates that the device belongs to the family of "vinphones". The model is available in four colors: red, blue, white and black - there really is plenty to choose from. We have a black version on the test. The corners of the smartphone are slightly rounded, so the device fits well in the hand. This is facilitated by its compact dimensions - 123 x 64 x 9.9 mm, while the gadget weighs only 105 g.

Almost the entire part of the front side is occupied by a screen, under which there are three touch-sensitive control keys with white backlighting - an invariable element of "vinphones".

Above the display of the smartphone is a slot for the earpiece. The device does not have a multimedia speaker, so its role is also played by the conversational one. Such a move was made clearly to reduce the cost of the final cost of the device, something similar can be found, for example, in budget models of LG smartphones (the same LG Optimus L1 II). To the left of the speaker is the front camera and to the right is the proximity sensor. The volume rocker and the screen activation key are located on the right side of the smartphone. The buttons protrude slightly, so they are easy to grope.

On the left side there is a place for a microUSB port.

At the top of the Highscreen WinJoy, the developers have placed a 3.5 mm headphone or wired headset jack.

The back panel of the smartphone is removable, under it there is a 1,700 mAh battery, and next to it there are two compartments for SIM-cards and a slot for a microSD memory card with a capacity of up to 32 GB. Since we have already mentioned the battery, here we add that a full charge is enough for 2 days of Highscreen WinJoy operation in an average, "mixed" operating mode. This is where the advantages of Windows Phone over "gluttonous" Android are felt.

Display

Highscreen WinJoy is a budget solution, so you shouldn't expect the device to be equipped with a "fashionable" IPS-matrix. Indeed, the smartphone uses an ordinary TFT screen with a relatively low resolution - 480 x 800 pixels. However, the image quality is pleasantly surprising. Due to the compact diagonal - and it is equal to 4 inches in the Highscreen WinJoy display - the pixels are arranged quite densely and are practically indistinguishable without close examination. Also pleased with the natural color rendition and a decent margin of brightness. The viewing angles of the screen were a little let down, they are not as wide as those of IPS matrices.

Hardware platform and operating system

Another feature of smartphones based on Windows Phone 8.1 and earlier (except for a long battery life) - they all run on Qualcomm hardware solutions. In the Highscreen WinJoy model, a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8212 Snapdragon 200 is used. The processor operates at a frequency of up to 1.2 GHz, and the RAM in the gadget is 512 MB. It may seem that such a volume of "RAM" will not be enough for comfortable work, but this is not an Android background, so the interface of the operating system works smartly, and applications start quite quickly. The only thing that 512 MB of RAM can affect is "heavy" 3D games. Especially demanding ones on Highscreen WinJoy will not work, they simply will not be available for download in the Windows Marketplace application catalog.

The volume of the built-in memory of the smartphone is 4 GB, you should also not forget about the above-mentioned slot for memory cards of the MicroSD format.

The Highscreen WinJoy operating system is Windows Phone 8.1 with a standard interface. By and large, there is nothing more to say here.

Communication modules

As befits a modern smartphone, Highscreen WinJoy is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters. As for the satellite navigation module, a "dual" version of the adapter is used here - GPS / GLONASS, that is, the device works with both American and Russian satellites. As practice has shown, the GPS / GLONASS module, in comparison with ordinary GPS, more accurately determines the coordinates, receives a signal better in dense urban areas and tunnels, and "starts" much faster. The operation of two SIM-cards in Highscreen WinJoy is implemented in the same way as the overwhelming majority of "dual-SIM" on the Android platform, that is, when you call on one SIM-card, the second is disabled - there is only one radio module in the smartphone.

Cameras

The Highscreen WinJoy uses a 5-megapixel main camera module. It would seem that it is quite a familiar solution for smartphones of this price category, however, unlike them, the camera of this device boasts an auto focus function. Actually, therefore, the quality of the images can be called acceptable. In general, you can see for yourself by the examples below:

The camera interface is standard for Windows Phone smartphones, you won't see anything new here. We will also mention the presence of a good LED flash in the device.

The Highscreen WinJoy front camera is probably not suitable for the so-called "crossbows" - its resolution is low, only 0.3 megapixels. Therefore, its main purpose is video calls, the front camera copes with this without any problems.

conclusions

Usually, you don't expect anything special from a smartphone that costs 3-4 thousand rubles. Even more, the buyer of such a gadget is usually ready in advance to put up with weak hardware, an outdated version of the operating system (if we are talking about an Android background), an inferior screen and a camera for show. In the case of the "WinPhone" and specifically with the Highscreen WinJoy model, things are different. Yes, the screen is not the best, but bearable, fast hardware, not annoying with its slowness, a fresh version of the OS and a camera that provides average quality pictures. And all this for 3,990 rubles. Agree, the price is attractive.

The hero of this review is the inexpensive Highscreen Winjoy smartphone. At the time of its release, he interested the buyer by the fact that he worked on the Windows Phone operating system. Of course, this solution looked quite fresh against the background of Android devices, which were its competitors. Many buyers were surprised that for only about $ 60 you could buy a full-fledged Windows smartphone, while the brainchild of Microsoft cost from $ 100. Of course, users have a question: "What is the peculiarity of this device and what could the manufacturer save on?" It is to him that the reader will receive an answer after studying the Highscreen Winjoy review. For completeness, be sure to consider reviews from real buyers. Based on them, the strengths and weaknesses of the gadget will be highlighted. It is worth noting that this smartphone model is discussed quite often on the network.

Breakthrough budget models

Flagship models fascinate with their technical equipment, but many buyers are frightened off by the price. Unfortunately, if you take a closer look at these devices, you will find that they are equipped with a lot of unnecessary options. Naturally, this affects the cost of products. But you don't always need a multifunctional device. Most buyers prefer phones that can handle everyday tasks. As a rule, we are talking about the budget segment. It is in it that the Highscreen Winjoy smartphone is located. Its main advantage is its low price. For that kind of money, the buyer buys a device, thanks to which you can make calls, communicate on social networks, take pictures for memory, listen to music, and more. Therefore, the question arises: "Why pay more?" Of course, if we talk about performance, then the flagships have great potential, but does the average user need it?

Completion and packaging

All Highscreen phones differ in branded packaging. On it you will not see the usual photographs that advertise products. Instead, a regular blueprint is used. However, it is he who is a kind of "chip". With its help, the manufacturer focuses on the main parameters of this gadget. The packing box material is quite dense. It is made in natural cardboard color. Although outwardly the packaging looks dim, it is quite attractive.

What is the Highscreen Winjoy phone equipped with? Instructions and other documentation must be attached to the smartphone. In addition to it, the user will find a protective film, a power adapter and a USB cable, which are used to recharge the battery and connect to devices for data transfer. What surprised buyers the most was the presence of headphones. They are rare at this price point.

Design

Description of Highscreen Winjoy should start with an overview of the external design of the case. The phone weighs only 105 g. It is comfortable to hold it in your hand, you don't feel tired during a call. By modern standards, the gadget has a rather large thickness, which is almost 1 cm.However, this does not spoil it at all. Outwardly, the smartphone looks quite compact. The developers have chosen inexpensive plastic as materials. Buyers have no comments on the assembly. When you press the back cover, there are no creaks and backlashes.

The factory-assembled phone is equipped with a protective film. It is glossy. Unfortunately, it is rather difficult to separate this film from the screen. Also, the disadvantages include a high level of soiling. The glossy surface collects fingerprints very quickly. The back cover is also imperfect. Although it is made of matte plastic, dirt quickly builds up on it as well. Under it is the battery, slots for external storage and micro SIM cards.

On the front panel, in addition to the 4-inch screen, there is a "window" of the front camera. There is a speaker hole next to it. A standard control panel can be seen under the screen. It consists of three touch-sensitive keys. The rest of the buttons are mechanical. One of them is responsible for adjusting the volume, the second is for locking the device. With the help of the latter, you can turn on and off the Highscreen Winjoy phone by holding it down for a few seconds. They are located on the right side. For the location of the audio jack, the developers chose the upper end. The USB port is located on the left side. According to most users, the layout of the controls is quite convenient.

The user will not find any special elements on the back side. In addition to the main camera lens located in the center, the flash and the company logo, there is nothing else here.

At the first glance at the smartphone, there are immediately noticeable features of minimalism. There are no unnecessary parts on the case, which makes it not only attractive, but also comfortable. Although outwardly the phone looks quite simple, but original features are visible in it.

Screen characteristics

The screen in Highscreen Winjoy has a diagonal of 4ʺ. This is quite enough for comfortable work with the gadget. Unfortunately, the display characteristics have become quite expected for a budget device. It is based on a TFT matrix. She is already familiar to the domestic buyer for other models. This device cannot boast of wide viewing angles. If you tilt the device horizontally and vertically, the picture will be very different. At a high angle, the clarity of the image is lost, the brightness decreases, the color becomes dull. What about permission? It is only 800 × 480 px. In principle, for a 4-inch display, this is quite enough so that the image does not break into "squares". According to most users, the Windows Phone interface looks great on this screen. The only thing that can cause inconvenience is using the device in direct sunlight. Information in such conditions becomes practically unreadable. In order to see at least something on the screen, the owners have to cover it with their hand.

What really deserves accolades is the sensor. He's pretty sensitive. Reacts quickly and accurately to touch. The device has a calibration function. You can use it to customize the screen.

Highscreen Winjoy software and settings

As mentioned above, this gadget is based on the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. The interface does not have its own proprietary shell. The system is presented to the user in its original form. On the screen, all applications are displayed in the form of tiles that fill the entire space. According to some users, it looks much more attractive than "blank" Android. Unfortunately, unlike Nokia smartphones, there are very few preinstalled programs on Winjoy. However, this also has its advantages. The user can, at his discretion, select those applications that he really needs. All settings are standard. Owners who have already dealt with Windows Phone will not experience any inconvenience. The interface is intuitive, no additional functions are provided. The only thing that has been added to this model is a program for managing the second SIM card.

The Highscreen Winjoy smartphone will not suit the PC enthusiast. In the app store, the assortment is rather scarce. Here are dummy programs and various messengers. You can also find games, but they are much inferior to those developed for Android and iOS.

Camera

Can you imagine a modern smartphone without cameras? Each user will answer this question in the negative. Nowadays, everyone is already used to the fact that with the help of a mobile phone you can capture a memorable moment at any time and in any place. In Highscreen Winjoy, the characteristics of the main camera are represented by a 5-megapixel module. To improve performance, a flash is provided, which allows you to take pictures in low light. The autofocus function also significantly increases the quality. There are no problems with her. The camera focuses quickly and the photos are sharp. For its price point, Highscreen Winjoy takes excellent quality pictures.

Users had some comments about the video mode, since the maximum resolution is only 864 × 480 px. During the recording of the video, the sound quality is frankly lame. It turns out to be monophonic and indistinct due to the fact that the device is equipped with a low-quality microphone.

The front camera, as in many budget models, has a very low resolution. The 0.3 megapixel sensor can only be used for video communication. You can't get good pictures with it.

Hardware and memory

The Highscreen Winjoy phone is equipped with a quad-core processor. It is manufactured by a well-known brand name Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 model is capable of delivering a frequency of 1200 MHz with increasing load. For state employees, these are pretty good indicators. While working with applications and undemanding games, the smartphone works without freezes, quickly copes with all the tasks.

The amount of RAM is only 512 MB. Of course, for devices running on Android, this figure is critically low. But for a model operating on Windows Phone, it is quite enough. Let us remind you that applications developed using this system have not been updated for about 4 years. This smartphone will not work for those who like to play 3D games. Its resource is insufficient to run an application with similar requirements.

For work, the manufacturer provides the owner with an integrated memory storage of 4 GB. They are not enough for a full-fledged download of films or music. For these purposes, the device provides support for working with external drives. Each user can install a memory card into the phone, the volume of which does not exceed 32 GB. Thanks to this solution, there will be enough space for storing applications and other files.

Communication modules and battery

Highscreen Winjoy is equipped with two SIM card slots. They work alternately, since only one radio module is used in the device. When a call comes to one of the SIM cards, the second one is automatically disconnected. In the factory configuration, this gadget is equipped with a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. The device also supports GPS / GLONASS. Finds both American and Russian satellites quickly.

The Highscreen Winjoy has a removable battery. Its capacity is small - only 1700 mAh. In principle, this indicator is quite typical for economy class devices. At first glance, it may seem that the gadget is not capable of long-term battery life. But in this matter, everything is not so deplorable. Compared to Android devices, a Winjoy smartphone with such a battery life under an average load will function for about two days. Of course, it cannot be called a "long-liver", but a non-resource-intensive screen economically consumes battery power. In video playback mode, when the maximum brightness level is turned on, the device will function for about 4 hours.

In any case, the manufacturer was concerned that the user could not be left without communication in an emergency. For this, the device has a power saving mode. When activated, the clock frequency of the chipset is lowered to the minimum level, data transmission, network connection and the Internet are automatically disconnected, which significantly saves battery power. The only thing that confuses buyers is that in this mode, the smartphone turns into the simplest mobile phone “dialer”.

Competitors

It's time to see what competitors the Highscreen Winjoy phone has on the mobile market. The first and foremost is the Nokia Lumia 530 Dual Sim model. This unit, like Winjoy, runs on Windows Phone. Refers to economy class devices. The Finnish phone exceeds the cost of the Russian one by only 200 rubles. Equipped with two slots for cards of a cellular operator. Unlike Winjoy, it doesn't have a front camera. As for the main one, its resolution is 5 megapixels, however, due to the lack of autofocus, the quality is frankly lame.

If we compare these two devices, then many buyers may still prefer the Finnish one. Why? The reason may be a better display, a good battery life, a wide range of pre-installed software. Unfortunately, all this speaks in favor of the Finnish apparatus.

Whether it is possible to look for a competitor among devices running on Android, the most striking is the Fly IQ 4004 Era Life 4 Quad. This model seduces buyers with a high-quality display based on an IPS matrix. Of course, it is inappropriate to compare it with the outdated TFT technology. Fly's smartphone screen makes it possible to enjoy color and brightness in any light, even in bright sunlight. It comes with an excellent camera with the same resolution as the Winjoy phone, but it is capable of recording videos in Full HD quality. The performance level of the Fly IQ 4409 is a cut above that of the Russian device. The MT6582M processor model opens up wide opportunities for users.

But this model also has some drawbacks. Most users are unhappy with the short battery life. It's worth noting that this is a problem with many Android devices. Also, the manufacturer provides a large number of preinstalled software that is not of any interest. The problem is that the user without Root rights will not be able to remove unnecessary applications from the phone.

Highscreen Winjoy: reviews of owners and experts

So, it's time to read the opinions of the owners and experts. This phone model, unambiguously, has the main advantage - low cost. It would seem unrealistic to buy a smartphone running on Windows Phone for that kind of money. For those who are already tired of state employees on Android, the Winjoy smartphone will be an excellent alternative.

Most reviews say that the gadget is ideal for an undemanding user, it also shows itself perfectly as a phone for a child. It's pretty compact. The interface is convenient and simple: the operating system allows you to quickly figure out all the settings. For its price range, this model meets all the expectations of buyers.

According to users, the advantages include low cost, a pretty good main camera, and compact dimensions. But there are also disadvantages to Highscreen Winjoy. The small display with low resolution and the weak battery have definitely tarnished the reputation of this phone.

TFT IPS- High quality liquid crystal matrix. Has wide viewing angles, one of the best indicators of color and contrast quality among all that are used in the production of displays for portable equipment.

Retina-display with high pixel density, designed specifically for Apple technology. The pixel density on Retina displays is such that individual pixels are invisible to the eye at a normal distance from the screen. This provides the highest picture detail and dramatically improves the overall viewing experience.
Super Retina HD- the display is made using OLED technology. The pixel density is 458 PPI, the contrast ratio reaches 1,000,000: 1. The display has a wide color gamut and unrivaled color accuracy. Pixels in the corners of the display are anti-aliased at the sub-pixel level, so the edges are smooth and smooth. 50% thicker Super Retina HD gain layer. It will be harder to break the screen.
Super LCD is the next generation of LCD technology and offers improved performance over earlier LCD displays. The screens have not only wide viewing angles and better color reproduction, but also lower power consumption.
TFT- A common type of liquid crystal displays. With an active matrix controlled by TFTs, display performance is significantly improved, as well as contrast and image clarity.
